Sept 27 2019

ArmInfo. The SOS Amulsar initiative posted a photograph on its Facebook page, which indicates the presence of large reserves of uranium at the Amulsar gold  deposit. So, according to the record, the letter U of the yellow  device indicates the presence of uranium in the measured material.  The number “245” indicated opposite it indicates the density of  uranium in one ton, in grams. Meanwhile, the norm should be 4 “, –  noted in the record.

Earlier, ArmInfo, referring to the work of the famous Armenian  scientist Petros Aloyan “Uranium bearing of geological formations in  Armenia” noted that the Amulsar occurrence of uranium is located 4 km  southeast of the village of Ketchut and 5 km northwest of the top of  the mountain of the same name.  Approximately 76 tons of uranium were  calculated for five sections of the Amulsar manifestation, and taking  into account uranium in the thorium section, its total reserves can  be estimated at 100 tons.  Moreover, according to the studies of  another scientist, Professor G. Avagyan, according to 40 samples of  Amulsar ore, there are 195 tons of uranium and thorium there.  Meanwhile, the development of uranium deposits requires special  permission from the government, which Lidian does not have.

According to the company, the deposit contains about 73733 kg of gold  with an average grade of 0.78 g per ton, as well as 294.367 tons of  silver with an average grade of 9.29 g per ton. At the same time, not  a word about uranium itself. Lydian Armenia, which implements the  construction of the field, is a subsidiary of British Lydian  International. The total cost of the Amulsar project is $ 370  million. The field’s life will be 10 years and 4 months, with an  average of 200 thousand ounces of gold being mined annually. Analyst: Kocharyan`s case deprived of an important witness as a result of Hayk Harutyunyna`s death

Arminfo, Armenia
Sept 27 2019

ArmInfo. Kocharyan’s case  deprived of an important witness as a result of Hayk Harutyunyna’s  death. Director of the Armenian Institute of International Relations  and Security Stepan Safaryan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.

On the night of September 24, the body of  former Police Chief Hayk  Harutyunyan was found in his house in Bjni with a gunshot wound to  the head. A firearm and a shell case were found at the scene.

According to Naira Harutyunyan, press secretary of the Investigative  Committee, a criminal case has been opened on this case, on the  grounds of part 1 of Article 110 (“Bringing a Person to Suicide or  Attempted Suicide by Threats”) of the RA Criminal Code.

“Harutyunyan, according to the Prosecutor General, was supposed to  appear in court for a face-to-face confrontation with Kocharyan and  interrogation. At a court hearing on September 17, Kocharyan included  four people with whom he discussed secret order 0038 in 2008 and the  state of emergency called Harutyunyan. It was Harutyunyan who  commanded the actions of the police on the morning of March 1, which,  in his own words, in the court, parliament and the Special  Investigation Service, clearly informed Robert Kocharyan, “he  recalled.

According to Safaryan, according to the results of the expected  interrogation and face-to-face confrontation with Kocharyan,  Harutyunyan either had to take all the blame or confirm his previous  written testimony.  Another important witness, according to the  analyst, is Gegham Petrosyan, who also testified in parliament and  the SIS. And the connecting link between these two planes was  precisely Harutyunyan.  “Without claiming the degree of legal  knowledge of the lawyers and the prosecution, nevertheless, I think  that in all cases the investigation and the court have a satisfactory  amount of evidence given by the late Harutyunyan. The evidence of  which has not been called into question until now. In this light, I  do not think that the death of Harutyunyan will lead the  investigation and the court to a standstill, although it is clear  that, at least at theface-to-face confrontation and interrogation, new  interesting details could come up, “Safaryan summed up.

Analyst: Only corrupt officials can found a party in Armenia today

Arminfo, Armenia
Sept 27 2019

ArmInfo. In today’s Armenia,  only corrupt officials can found a new party using the stolen money.  Any other people, even groups and communities of people cannot do  this. The conditions for financing parties stipulated by the Law “On  Parties” do not allow it. Director of the Armenian Center for  Strategic and National Research Manvel Sargsyan expressed a similar  opinion to ArmInfo.

The National Assembly of Armenia is actively discussing amendments to  the Electoral Code and the Law on Parties. The working group on the  development of amendments to the Electoral Code and the Law on  Parties consists of representatives of three parliamentary factions:  My Step, Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia. At this stage,  changes are being considered that will give maximum transparency to  party funding and campaigning. Changes are planned to be made and  adopted before the end of this year.

“In this light, it is necessary to create such conditions that any  group of people who really intend to establish a political party  could do this. It is necessary to lower the financial threshold to a  level so that it will not matter whether you have billions of drams  or just one thousand. After this, these parties should be subjected  to strict financial responsibility and control over the funds, “he  said.

According to the analyst, the parliament should clearly define by law  the legal, financial possibilities of creating new political parties.  Identify and refuse to establish any financial thresholds for any  coercion in this matter. Otherwise, according to Sargsyan’s  forecasts, any thieves’ gang will be able to establish a party in  Armenia.

The law “On Parties”, according to analysts, is the most important  document for shaping the future political field of the republic.  Meanwhile, today, society does not have conceptual approaches or even  ideas about this law. There is no discussion, interest, let alone  contribution to the formation of an acceptable concept of a future  law. This situation, according to Sargsyan, is surprising given the  importance of this law.

The analyst is convinced of the need to give responsibility to  citizens who intend to establish a political party. Not everyone will  be able to take such a responsibility. Thus, in his opinion, it will  be possible to destroy the vicious practice of RPA times, when  parties were very easily created to participate in elections, a  practice in which dozens of one-person parties were created for the  sole purpose of providing dirty services to any ruling regime.

“Our country, we all, found ourselves in a similar situation thanks  to similar laws and similar parties. Today the situation is somewhat  different, respectively, we need other laws, in particular, the law”  On  Party”.  “However, when you pose this problem to people, it  turns out that nobody’s interested in this anymore. And almost no one  wants real, normal parties to appear in Armenia, “the expert summed  up.

Simon Martirosyan: I thank the Armenian people for all this love and appreciation
Armenian weightlifter Simon Martirosyan became the world champion yesterday, winning 3 gold medals.

Twice champion of Europe and the world, silver medalist of the Olympic Games Simon Martirosyan has told Mediamax Sport he is grateful to Armenian people, who always back him, and talked about his moment of glory.

At that moment, 429kg was the most I could get in the combined result. I didn’t use the remaining two attempts in clean and jerk, because there was no incentive: I won the championship in the first attempts.

The tournament went well. I won three gold medals, which is the most important thing for me.

I always say that my wins belong to the Armenian people and this time is not an exception. But this particular win I dedicate to my friend, weightlifter Aghasi Aghasyan, who died in a car accident a few months ago.

This achievement has made me very happy. I thank the Armenian people for all the love and appreciation they give to me and my work. I am proud to come from such a great nation.

I have received countless letters and messages, but I haven’t managed to read them all yet. I would like to thank everyone for their warm words.

First thing after winning the title, I talked with my family, of course, they are the most important thing in the world for me.

New in L.A. theater: The struggles of women, as seen through the Armenian genocide

L.A.’s theater scene is loaded with premieres this week, with new plays centered on the Armenian genocide (“Constantinople” in North Hollywood), family discord (“Last Swallows” in West Hollywood), CIA intrigue (“The Surveillance Trilogy” in Beverly Hills) and the fallout of a political sex scandal (“Representative Behavior” in Burbank).

The essentials: In 1919 Constantinople, an Armenian women’s rights activist and an intrepid guerrilla fighter join forces to smuggle weapons and supplies into their ravaged homeland while spiriting out women and children abducted during the genocide. Other characters — a dying poet rushing to complete his magnum opus, a young feminist rescued from abduction, a rape victim forced to bear her assailant’s child— strive for some semblance of normalcy.

Why this? Playwright Aram Kouyoumdjian, who also directs, clarifies the historical intricacies of a turbulent period. Kouyoumdjian intends his strikingly contemporary play not as a period piece, but as a reflection of our current geopolitical climate. “A century later, we find ourselves contending with the same struggles as the play’s protagonists,” he says. “Displacement, anti-immigrant sentiment, populism, demagoguery and a struggle for women’s rights.”

Details: Vista Players at Secret Rose Theatre, 11246 W. Magnolia Blvd., North Hollywood. 8 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sundays, through Nov. 2. $20-$40. (818) 538-4911. itsmyseat.com/Constantinople
