EAEU has not only economic, but also geopolitical significance for RA. Ghukasyan

The signing of the agreement on the free trade zone between EAEU and Singapore and the participation of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in the Yerevan summit show the strengthening of the geo-economic potential of the Eurasian Economic Union. Arman Ghukasyan, chairman of the “For Social Justice” party and expert of the “Voice of the People” club, announced this at the press conference summarizing the results of the Yerevan Summit of the EAEU.

According to him, the development of relations with Singapore is important for Armenia, first of all, from the point of view of attracting foreign investments. As for Iran, the preservation and deepening of relations with the neighboring country is now mostly possible due to the existence of EAEU, as it helps Armenia partially overcome the pressures of the USA to stop ties with Tehran.

“In this sense, membership in EAEU has not only economic, but also geopolitical significance for Armenia. Of course, this membership brings many benefits for our country,” he expressed conviction.

Ghukasyan also emphasized the holding of the international forum “Transit Potential of the Eurasian Continent”, which, according to him, inspires hope that the idea of new transport corridors in accordance with the requirements of the new digital era will soon be implemented with the participation of Armenia.

Arman Ghukasyan calls the organization of the dialogue between the leaders of Armenia and Russia on the territory of our country one of the important moments of the EAEU summit. He reminded that Vladimir Putin He has not visited Armenia since 2015, and the meetings held certainly contribute to maintaining a generally positive atmosphere in the relations between the two countries.

“The strategic nature of the relations between Russia and Armenia has recently become more important, from the point of view of Armenia sending a humanitarian mission to Syria, as well as the implementation of large bilateral projects in the military-technical and energy fields. However, the events of October 1 showed that when assessing Armenian-Russian relations today, it is necessary not so much to fix the external side of events (handshakes, selfies, etc.), but to focus on the content of the agenda and the agreements reached or to be reached,” he said. According to Ghukasyan, on October 1Nikol Pashinyan tried to show that there were full negotiations with the Russian leader, which, according to the speaker, is an exaggeration. According to him, the negotiations were divided into two meetings, besides, no solution to the key issues of the bilateral agenda was announced.

“Particularly, there is no clarity regarding the price of gas, besides this, Yerevan continues to demand from Moscow the complete unification of gas markets and the equalization of domestic prices. Tensions also remain around SCR and Gazprom Armenia, two important strategic investors in Armenia’s economy. It is worth highlighting the offer made by Vladimir Putin to Nikol Pashinyan to visit Moscow on an official visit, which can be considered as an urgent invitation to discuss the entire spectrum of existing issues.”

All these problems, the speaker added, really exist and should be solved only through negotiations and dialogue between our countries. At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that there is already some progress, as the Minister of Transport of Russia and the General Director-Chairman of the Russian Railways Council arrived in Yerevan a few days after the EAEU summit. And judging by open sources, the Armenian and Russian sides are trying to find common solutions, but there are still no answers to many questions.

“Russia is our most important strategic ally and, like all partners, we also have problems that need to be solved through mutual understanding. But I do not share the assessments that there is a serious crisis in Armenian-Russian relations – they are exaggerated. Moreover, I tend to think that such statements and assessments harm our relations and mainly harm the interests of Armenia itself. What kind of crisis are we talking about, if Russia continues to supply arms to Armenia under previously signed contracts and at domestic prices, there are no issues related to the activities of the 102nd Russian base located in Gyumri problems, and no problems in other areas either. I repeat, the existing problematic moments should be resolved through a constructive dialogue within the framework of the dynamic development of Armenian-Russian relations,” stressed the leader of the “For Social Justice” party.

Distorts the facts about Nzhdeh. Pashinyan’s harsh response to Aliyev (video)

RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan responded to the speech of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during the meeting of CIS member-state leaders in Ashgabat and stated that he sees attempts to distort the facts on his part.

In his speech at the meeting of the leaders of CIS member states, Aliyev complained that the statue of Garegin Nzhdeh was installed in Yerevan. “Fascists are glorified in Armenia, where the former government installed them in the center of Yerevan Garegin Ter-Harutyunyan the statue that cooperated with the fascists,” Aliyev said, to which the RA Prime Minister gave a harsh answer.

“Unfortunately, we saw such attempts in Ilham Aliyev’s speech. Listening to his evaluations of Garegin Nzhdeh, to tell the truth, I remembered the famous Soviet film “Captive of the Caucasus”. when there is talk about the ruins of the ancient castle, and a question is raised: what is it, did I destroy the church as well? Ilham Heydarovich’s speech gives the impression that Hitler played a secondary role in that war, and the leader of the Nazi movement was Garegin Nzhdeh,” said Pashinyan.

And the reality, Pashinyan notes, is that Garegin Nzhdeh fought against the Turkish occupation of Armenia, fought against the genocide of Armenians, and the reality is that during the Armenian-Turkish war, Garegin Nzhdeh, along with many Russian officers, led a very important part of the front in 1918.

“I want to emphasize once again that it is important for us to know the objective assessment of history. They say that Garegin Nzhdeh died in Vladimir prison. Many Soviet figures died in that prison, Solzhenitsyn was in the Gulag. Do we think that those who were convicted in the years 37-50 are all enemies of the nation? If so, many prominent figures have been convicted and ended their lives in prison.

But that doesn’t mean we have to accept it all as fact. And I consider it unnecessary and unnecessary to use this format to distort history, to introduce some tension in the atmosphere of this quite important session,” he said.

STEPANAKERT, OCTOBER 11, ARMENPRESS. President of the Republic of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan on October 11 attended the opening of the “Cooperation for Justice and Peace” conference of Artsakh friends in Stepanakert during which he delivered a speech, the President’s Office told Armenpress.

“Dear participants of the forum,

Advertising 21

Dear friends,

Ladies and gentlemen,

I extend my most heartfelt welcome to all of you in the Artsakh Republic.

Today’s event is distinguished both by its content and the participant list. This is the pioneering pro-Artsakh forum, which has brought together, under the same roof, political, public, cultural figures, human rights advocates, scientists, analysts and journalists from different countries who support Artsakh. Here are members of the friendship groups and circles with Artsakh, representatives of administrative units and political forces having recognized the independence of the Artsakh Republic or have been cooperating with us.

Remaining true to the democratic principles and humanitarian values, you have spared no effort supporting Artsakh for years, raising awareness about and rendering objective information on our country on diverse international platforms, carrying out activities towards the development of bilateral relations and the implementation of multifaceted programs in Artsakh.

We are grateful to you for all the painstaking work you carry out, we highly appreciate your pursuits and are glad to have friends like you.

The discussion points on the forum agenda touch upon almost all the spheres of our republic’s activity. This format enables having a clear and full picture of the realities, outlining and setting the record straight on the future plans.

In this context, it is crucial to present once again our vision of the Artsakh Republic state-building process and our foreign policy imperatives, which is a unique roadmap for your work as well.

Building an independent, sovereign and strong state has always been the backbone of our state-building, our trinity with Armenia and the Diaspora, our commitment to democratic values and principles being among its pillars.

The full-fledged security of Artsakh in all the dimensions is a must for us. Even the slightest decline in our security will tempt our opponents to launch a new aggression which itself is pregnant with unpredictable consequences. For this very reason security issues are top priority in the negotiation process too.

Drawing upon the negotiation process, I would like to reaffirm our commitment to peaceful settlement of relations with Azerbaijan around the negotiation table under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group. It should be mentioned that it is impossible to achieve real progress without the restoration of the full-fledged negotiation format with the direct participation of Artsakh.

Obviously, the fate of Artsakh cannot be decided without its participation and there is no return to the past, both with respect to status and borders.

The principles of balanced and multi-vectored approach remain at the root of the Artsakh Republic foreign policy.

Maintaining equally good-neighborly relations with Europe, the USA, Russia as well as regional states is a foreign strategy imperative for us. This stance is derivative from both the specificity of our region and the existence of the Armenian Diaspora.

In the foreign policy realm official Stepanakert will continue placing special emphasis on forging and enhancing relations with different countries and states and their administrative units.

Dear friends,

Any period of time generates new problems, requires clarification and refinement of strategies and tactics to face various challenges. Here close cooperation between Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora, cementing the working relationships between Artsakh and its friends is of utmost importance.

We have lot more work to do and diverse issues to solve, however, they are very much realistic. I am confident that we will succeed in solving them efficiently, and within this context holding such events has a great role to play.

I wish productive work to the forum, robust health, success and all the best to theparticipants.

Thank you”, reads the President’s speech.
