Sports: Dutch Willem II terminates contract with Armenia’s Aras Özbiliz

PanARMENIAN.Net – Armenian midfielder Aras Özbiliz has left Willem II. The Dutch club terminated the lease agreement with the 29-year-old after his refusal to replace a teammate in the 27th round Eredivisie match against Fortuna Sittard.

Thus, the Armenian player will return to the Turkish Besiktas, from which Willem II had rented him in August 2018, Sport24.com reports.

Ozbiliz played 18 matches for Willem II, scoring two goals and contributing with two assists.

Aras signed a 4.5-year contract with Besiktas in January 2016 and went to Spain’s Rayo Vallecano on loan shortly afterwards. He returned to Turkey half a year later.

In February 2018, the Armenian attacking midfielder signed a contract with Moldova’s Sheriff, the club’s official website revealed then.

Armenian journalists’ team has had a good start in the international football tournament in Hurghada, Egypt, winning 3 out of 4 games on the first day.
 
After beating Germany 5-2, the Armenian team won the matches against Belarus and Ukraine with the same score, 3-0. The draw was against Egyptian organization for tourism and hotels (EGOTH).
 
Currently, the Armenian team is at the top of the table. The players are preparing for the games against Sudan and Egypt teams, which will be held today.
 
Armenian journalists’ team has gained vast experience in international competitions, finishing third in the Lithuanian tournament for three times and taking silver in the 2018 tournament in Yerevan. The squad consists of journalists from different Armenian media outlets.
 
The Armenian team’s donors are ANRIVA TOUR, the only official Air Cairo representative in Armenia, and TotoGaming bookmaker.
 

Sports: Marcos Pizzelli: I’ll be back in summer

Armenian squad and Aktobe midfielder Marcos Pizzelli told NEWS.am Sport about his rehabilitation process.

“The rehabilitation process is going well, I feel better. Now I have individual trainings with the ball. I hope to return in summer”, he said.

Pizzelli is recovering from a severe knee injury following the clash against Macedonian squad.

He was recognized Armenia’s Football Player of the Year in 2018.

In January Pizzelli expended his contract with Aktobe for a year.

Two Armenian boxers have been qualified for the semi-finals of the International Youth Boxing Tournament “Nikolay Pavlyukov Memorial” taking place in Anapa, Russia.

Boxers Rudolf Garboyan (49kg) and Rafael Hovhannisyan (75kg) won their bouts at the quarter-finals and have already secured at least bronze medals at the tournament, the Boxing Federation of Armenia told Panorama.am.

The Armenian boxing team left for Anapa led by head coach Karen Aghamalyan and coach Garik Baghdasaryan.

YEREVAN, APRIL 4, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Ambassador to the Czech Republic Ashot Hovakimyan on April 3 met with President of the Chamber of Deputies (lower house) of the Czech Parliament Radek Vondráček, the Armenian foreign ministry told Armenpress.

Speaker Radek Vondráček welcomed the Ambassador and expressed readiness to be actively engaged in the Armenian-Czech inter-parliamentary relations and his sympathy to Armenia’s new parliament and ongoing democratic processes in the country.

The Armenian Ambassador thanked the Speaker of Chamber of Deputies for the adoption of the resolution by the Chamber in 2017 condemning the Armenian Genocide. He presented Armenia’s foreign policy priorities, in particular highlighting the developing partnership with the EU, and in this regard emphasized the necessity of ratification of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) by the Chamber of Deputies as soon as possible. The Ambassador highly valued the high level of the Armenian-Czech inter-parliamentary ties, the dynamics of mutual visits of parliamentary delegations, expressing hope that Radek Vondráček will visit Armenia in the near future.

The Ambassador also introduced Vondráček on the recent developments over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process.

Moscow will provide necessary support to Baku and Yerevan to implement the results of the recent meeting of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Vienna, Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in an interview to ONA news agency, reports TASS.

“Supporting the sides in the Karabakh conflict settlement process is one of the key foreign policy priorities in Russia’s foreign policy concept. This fact attaches specific importance to the ongoing mediation activities, determines great attention to its results”, the diplomat said.

“The negotiation process for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict continues. The sides show intention to continue the work aimed at reaching the peaceful settlement”, Zakharova said.

According to her, this intention was also recorded in the statement made over the results of the Vienna meeting of Aliyev and Pashinyan. “We welcome the prevailing constructive approach in the negotiations. We will provide necessary support to the sides in order to implement the ideas over which a perception was reached in the capital of Austria”, she said. “However, as it has been repeatedly stated by the presidents of the co-chair countries, the responsibility to put an end to the conflict is on the sides involved in it. The most important is to demonstrate a political will”, the Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman said.

The results of the recent meeting of Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Vienna give hope for reaching progress in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, Federica Mogherini – EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said during a press conference, summing up the results of the session of the EU-Azerbaijan Association Council held in Brussels, reports TASS.

“The recent meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders in Vienna was positive. In line with the Paris agreement in January, the high-level contacts and significant reduction in ceasefire violations, it gives us certain hope that the process will move forward, and the two countries will fulfill their commitments and will hold negotiations without preconditions”, Mogherini said.

On March 29 Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met in Vienna under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. The main outcome of the meeting was the willingness expressed by the sides to continue the direct dialogue over the peaceful solution of the Karabakh conflict.

YEREVAN, APRIL 4, ARMENPRESS. The Deputy Minister of Healthcare has been arrested for bribery in the act of committing the crime, the rest will be determined during the investigation, National Security Service Director Artur Vanetsyan told reporters after the Cabinet meeting today.

He said the person who gave the bribe has not been arrested but is banned from leaving the country amid the investigation. The suspect has been charged.

According to the National Security Service, a director of a medical facility gave “a particular large amount of money” as a bribe on March 30 to the Deputy Minister of Healthcare. The National Security Service said the process happened under surveillance.

YEREVAN, APRIL 4, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian on April 5 will depart for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on a working visit, the Presidential Office told Armenpress.

The World Economic Forum (WEF)’s meeting on Middle East and North Africa will take place in the capital city of Amman from April 5 to 7 where the Armenian President is invited as a Speaker.

The WEF meeting has been organized by the support and auspices of King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan and Queen Rania Al-Abdullah.

The meeting will be attended by more than 1000 leaders of government, business, civil society, faith and academia who will discuss the challenges facing the region. In particular, the meeting participants will focus on energy security, clean and renewable energy, cyber-security and other issues.

The Armenian President will deliver remarks at the discussion titled “New Energy for Middle East”.

Armen Sarkissian will also meet with WEF founder and executive chairman, famous economist Klaus Schwab.

During his working visit in Jordan the Armenian President will also meet with the country’s top leadership, as well as business and local Armenian community representatives.
