Ministry of Education and Science urges to be carefull (video)

Marietta Sahakyan’s first poetry collection “Atamishik” is put for preschool and low grade children’s tables.

The presentation of the poet’s book took place today within the Week of Children’s Book and Music.

“I cannot imagine how to write about bad accident for a child. In my book there are only the positive aspects of life,” Marietta Sahakyan said.

It is said that the demand for children’s literature is high in libraries and bookstores.

“In schools, children are assigned mandatory reading lists, but they also read amateur literature,” says Armine Petrosyan, head of the Children’s Literature Department at Avetik Isahakyan Library.

Young people sometimes require literature that is be banned for their ages.

When searching for children’s literature, it is often possible to find poems that do not correspond to the age and vocabulary of children.

The Ministry of Education and Science urges to be careful when choosing children’s literature.

Does Andrias Ghukasyan endanger Serzh Sargsyan’s corrupt regime? (video)

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) will soon investigate the case of Andrias Ghukasyan, a member of the New Armenia opposition movement, who was detained for nearly two years.

The complaint of violation of Article 18 of the Convention, the abuse of state power against political opponents, was raised against Armenia. The court has asked to present information indicating the violation of the Convention’s articles on the applicant.

“They wanted a document, and the record of the trial, during which the judge said that he asked Andrias Ghukasyan whether he would continue his opposition activities if he was released, he also wrote a decision,” Karen Mezhlumyan said to A1+, by adding that the applicant has already sent that recording and they are also considering the case for political motives.

And today, the court continued the trial of Andrias Ghukasyan, accused of organizing mass disorders and attempts to join Sasna Tsrer group, on July 29, 2016. At the very beginning of the session, Andrias Ghukasyan’s lawyer stated that the judge continues to hold procedural violations, restrict Andrias Ghukasyan’s rights, reject the petitions, and therefore he again challenges. “Say something new, the same thing cannot be repeated 10 times,” said Judge Vardan Grigoryan.

Karen Mezhlumyan wanted to cite the example of an American professor to show how police violated human rights, but the judge interrupted him. “It would have been like a National Assembly that we could turn off your microphone.”

It was unclear for Andrias Ghukasyan why the judge refused to change his preventive measure by pointing out that being free, Adrias Ghukasyan could pose a serious threat to public life.

“If you mentioned that I could endanger Serzh Sargsyan’s corrupt regime, I would agree with you completely,” said Andrias Ghukasyan

Goulamirian knocked out Merhy and is the new WBA Cruiserweight champion

Arsen Goulamirian had an impeccable performance in Marseille, France, and achieved a technical knockout in the 11th round against Ryad Merhy to become the World Boxing Association (WBA) Cruiserweight Champion.

The French born in Armenia gave Merhy no respite and began to pressure him from the first minute to prevent his opponent from making combinations of punches.

Goulamirian took the risk to exchange blows in front of a powerful boxer. That risk paid off as he took the best part and wasted Merhy until he could finish him off.

A combination of many consecutive unanswered blows to Merhy forced the referee to stop the fight, which made Goulamirian the new champion.

Goulamirian left his record at 23 wins, no defeats and 15 knockouts, while Merhy left his record at 24 wins, 1 loss and 20 knockouts.

Sports: Armenia world champion wrestler Aghasi Manukyan would have turned 51 on Tuesday

News.am, Armenia

March 27 is the birth anniversary of the late Greco-Roman wrestler Aghasi Manukyan (Armenia), who won a gold medal at the 1993 World Wrestling Championships.

The renowned wrestler from Gyumri was living in the US since 2006, and he recently passed away after a long illness. He would have turned 51 on Tuesday.

2012 Olympic silver medalist, 2014 World and 2009 European Champion Greco-Roman wrestler Arsen Julfalakyan said Manukyan had inspired him when making his first steps in wrestling and, also, he recalled his gift.

“20 years before, in 1998 first time I went for wrestling…!

“Before I was always in wrestling halls with my father(I grew up on mats…),but that was just for fun. That day I convinced my parents to start practicing wrestling instead of piano classes and they agreed(as one can see,it was a better choice…)

“Everything was fixed by my father(where should I practice, who should be my first coach, the schedule of trainings etc).I went to the wrestling hall for the first time with my mother(father was abroad for business…)!!!

“That time I didn’t have professional wrestling shoes and for the beginning we had bought just a pair of cheap snickers.

“I can remember like today… Just we were going to enter the hall when we met Aghasi Manukyan sitting in front of the doors(in his favorite squat position where he could stay for hours…). He said that he was very happy to see me continuing my father’s profession and asked whether I had wrestling shoes or not?

“When he learnt the answer,he went to the coaches’ room and just in a few moments brought for me a totally new Asics wrestling shoes, exactly my size and socks for it․

“-I wish you become a great wrestler with this shoes but at first you should win a lot of small tournaments, don’t forget it- that was his words!

“At that moment I was the happiest kid in the world and I promised to do that. It was a huge motivation for me.

“That’s how I started my long path in wrestling.

“Thank you very much Aghasi Manukyan for everything what you did for wrestling.

“Rest in Peace,” Julfalakyan wrote on his Facebook page.

Aghasi Manukyan was crowned world champion in the 57kg Greco-Roman competition at the 1993 World Wrestling Championships in Stockholm.

Manukyan won two silver medals at the European Wrestling Championships in 1994 and 1995. He also competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

In 1996, he finished his wrestling career and began coaching.

Renowned wrestlers from numerous countries have extended condolences on his passing and expressed support to his family.

Sports: Arsenal players struggle to spell Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s name (video)

PanArmenian, Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net – Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan‘s new Arsenal teammates have learned quickly how to play alongside the midfielder.

Learning how to spell his name, though, is a bit more tricky, ESPN FC says.

Rob Holding and Ainsley Maitland-Niles both failed miserably at that task when put to the test by the Gunners captain Per Mertesacker in a video to help launch a new “Word Match” game in the Junior Gunners app.

Despite Mertesacker’s best attempts to help out, neither Holding nor Maitland-Niles could figure out just where to play the H in the Armenian’s name.

They could spell the name of fellow January signing Konstantinos Mavropanos, however, although they came up short on several other different names of club legends and Arsenal Women players.

The Armenia international swapped Manchester United for Arsenal in January as part of a deal which saw Alexis Sanchez move in the opposite direction.

The 29-year-old has already provided six assists and scored in consecutive games, including his maiden Arsenal goal in the 2-0 over AC Milan in the Europa League.

Senior Russian Lawmaker Slams Aliyev’s Territorial Claims

Senior Russian Duma member Konstantin Zatulin

YEREVAN—A senior member of the Russian Duma on Monday slammed Baku’s territorial claims from Armenia, which have been amplified by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev who, as recently as last week, claimed that all of Armenia is part of “historic Azerbaijan.”

Konstantin Zatulin, the first deputy head of a Russian parliament committee on CIS, Eurasian Integration, who spoke Monday at a joint session of the Armenian parliament committee on foreign affairs and his committee in the Duma that said Aliyev’s statement stand to be criticized both on the historical and political fronts.

Speaking at a pre-election congress of his Yeni Azerbayacan party on February 10 Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev promised to “return Azerbaijanis” to Yerevan, Armenia’s southeastern Syunik province also known as Zangezur, and the area around Lake Sevan describing them as ‘historical Azerbaijani lands.’

“This is our strategic goal and we must gradually move closer to achieving this goal,” he declared. Aliyev reiterated his claims on March 19 when addressing Azerbaijanis on the beginning of Novruz, the New Year holiday.

“Apparently, Aliyev’s statement was made for his fellow countrymen, given the factor of the forthcoming presidential elections. It is not clear how someone can take it seriously,” Zatulin said. At the same time, Zatulin stressed that the Karabakh conflict can be resolved only through negotiations, and stressed the need for a balanced policy of the parties in the course of these negotiations.

At a press conference later on Monday, Zatulin reiterated his position on Aliyev’s statement, this time in a more resolute tone.

“As for [Azerbaijani President Ilham] Aliyev’s statement, I would prefer to be extra correct with this, as I know my statement will appear in the Azerbaijani media tomorrow. The much respected president of Azerbaijan has undermined his position by making statements of the kind. They were probably intended for the domestic audience just in the run-up to the [presidential] polls, but I don’t think it will be taken seriously from the historic, political or any other viewpoint. It isn’t clear at all who may seriously consider those ideas,” Zatulin added.

Zatulin also expressed Russia’s concerns over the ceasefire violations around Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), regretting at the same time that Azerbaijan abused Russia’s trust by launching offensives with Russian-made weapons.

At a news conference in Yerevan, Zatulin said they are also worried that the belligerent rhetoric “aiming to lead the peace process to a deadlock.”

“We understand that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict – like many other conflicts around the globe – should have but one outcome, which is a peaceful resolution. So Russia is as always concerned lest a military settlement should apply to this particular case,” he noted.

Zatulin also reaffirmed Moscow’s commitment to guarantee Armenia’s security and defense as a strategic ally.

He added that they received additional assurances on Sunday after visiting the 102nd Russian military base stationed in the second largest city, Gyumri.

“We understand that after the eruption [of hostilities] – provoked by one of the sides in 2016 – Armenia was discontent with Russia’s move to supply Azerbaijan with weapons. We regret that Azerbaijan found no other way of using the weapons apart from violating the ceasefire along the Line of Contact. We have drawn the necessary conclusions,” the Russian lawmaker noted.

“I would like to also call your attention to the fact that Russia has equipped Armenia with modern defense supplies, which I hope you will see during the [independence] parade,” Zatulin said, adding that he and a number of other Russian parliamentarians act in support of the Russian-Armenian friendship.
