Arsene Wenger is hopeful that Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s season is not over.

Wenger has confirmed that Mkhitaryan has picked up ligament damage in his knee.

The Armenia international has been assessed by Arsenal’s medical staff and will spend a significant amount of time on the sidelines.

He will definitely miss the next two weeks of Premier League action – and Wenger has hinted that he will be absent for even more.

“He’s got knee ligament damage,” Wenger said.

“He will not be available for Thursday and not for Newcastle and certainly not for the week after, when we play West Ham.

“I think he will miss these games for sure, but he could still play at the end of the season.”

Mkhitaryan joined Arsenal in January and has been a key part of their Europa League campaign.

Arsenal have a 4-1 lead heading into their second leg with CSKA this week.

They head into the game on the back of a dramatic 3-2 win over Stoke on Sunday, which saw Danny Welbeck bag a brace and Mohamed Elneny receive his marching orders late on.

EASTER CELEBRATION AT ST. MARY'S CHURCH IN GLENDALE
On Sunday, April 1st, 2018, the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus
Christ with its message of hope and renewal was joyfully celebrated in
Prelacy Churches. H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, celebrated
Easter Divine Liturgy and delivered the sermon at St. Mary's Church in
Glendale. Parish Pastors Archpriest Fr. Vazken Atmajian and Rev. Fr. Ardak
Demirjian assisted at the altar.
Prior to delivering the sermon, the Prelate joyfully greeted the
faithful and gave thanks to God for granting the opportunity to once again
celebrate the glorious Resurrection of Christ with renewed faith and
triumphant spirit and congratulate one another with chants of "Christ is
risen from the dead." He wished for the spirit of the Resurrection to lead
us all on our faith journey and for the Risen Christ to reside in our hearts
and souls.
"God arose, His enemies were scattered and those who hated Him
fled." Jesus had many enemies and opponents throughout His earthly life who
attempted to hinder His salvific mission, but through His Resurrection He
triumphed over all who sought to extinguish His Light, said the Prelate.
Citing from the day's Gospel reading from Mark 16:1-8, His Eminence
emphasized that the fear and awe of the women who found Christ's empty tomb
was alleviated and they were filled with hope, spiritual joy, and
strengthened faith when they saw the risen Christ. Along with the disciples
they spread the good news of His Resurrection to the world, and centuries
later we exchange the same good news with one another with the same joy,
hope, and triumphant spirit, he said.
"The Resurrection is the victory of righteousness, truth, goodness,
and light over death, sin, evil, and darkness. As faithful servants of
Christ, we are invited to partake of His gift of renewal and new life, to
overcome and triumph over selfishness, hatred, pride, and a sinful life and
be clothed in the virtues of love, respect, and longsuffering," stressed the
Prelate. He concluded by wishing for the triumphant spirit of the
Resurrection and the 100th anniversary of the first Republic of Armenia to
lead to renewed faith, renewed patriotism, and renewed drive in our
collective service to our church, nation, and homeland.
On Monday, April 2nd, Easter Memorial Day, requiem service was held
at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills "Hall of Liberty" and Forest Lawn Glendale
"Church of the Recessional." Very Rev. Fr. Torkom Donoyan, Vicar General,
delivered the day's message. The Prelate offered a prayer for the martyrs of
the four-day Artsakh war as the day coincided with the 2nd anniversary of
the war. Afterward, the Blessing of the Four Corners of the World (Antasdan)
service was conducted in the courtyard. The service concluded with Cilicia
and the Armenian national anthem.

Churches with Divine Liturgy and eve of the feast candle-lighting service.

and delivered the sermon at Holy Martyrs Church in Encino. Parish Pastor
Archpriest Fr. Razmig Khatchadourian and deacons assisted at the altar.
The Prelate began his sermon with the following words from the
Easter introit, "Christ is risen from the dead. He conquered death by death
and with His Resurrection He granted life to us. Glory be to Him forever."
His Eminence reflected on the seven week period of Great Lent of
introspection, self-examination, and self-correction, as well as on the
profound messages of Holy Week, adding that our Lord Jesus Christ concluded
His earthly ministry with great suffering, crucifixion, and ultimately death
for the sins of mankind, and three days later with His victory over death,
He granted mankind the triumphant and hopeful promise of salvation and
eternal life.
"Through His Resurrection, our Lord and Savior granted us the gift
of life; but it was not just any life, but a new, bright, and triumphant
life. Through His Resurrection, mankind was once again reconciled with God
and became worthy of His mercy," stated the Prelate, and stressed that the
Resurrection is the promise of eternal life but is also an invitation for
renewal and a new life during our time here on this earth. His Eminence
concluded by calling for renewal of faith, for the hope offered by Christ to
strengthen all, and for Christ to reside in our hearts and His love to guide
us.
At the conclusion of Divine Liturgy, eve of the feast lighting of
the candles service was held symbolizing the Light of Christ radiating
throughout the world. Afterward, faithful received Holy Communion.

Ashod Kambourian, Parish Pastor, and deacons participated in the service.

as faithful Christians, Christ's tomb represents immortality, victory, the
vanquishing of death, conquering of sin, and unfading light, for although
our life-giving Christ died and was laid in a tomb, through His Resurrection
He defeated evil and death, and granted us the promise of eternal life, of
salvation and the hope of resurrection.
The Prelate concluded by encouraging all to live an honest and
upright life with good conscience and to bury all of our shortcomings,
iniquities, vices, and sins to prepare our hearts for the victorious
Resurrection of our Lord.

Yerevan court releases phone recording of 2015 syndicate ringleader

YEREVAN, APRIL 6, ARMENPRESS. The trial of the gunmen, dubbed the Nork Marash armed group, continued April 6 in a Yerevan court.

At today’s trial session, the court released a phone recording of Arthur Vardanyan, the ringleader of the syndicate.

In the recording the ringleader is discussing acquisition of firearms with Hakob Hakobyan, a member of the group who has been sentenced to over three years imprisonment for other charges.

On the tape, the two discuss the prices of TT and Makarov handguns and Kalashnikov machine guns and ammo.

Hakobyan was allegedly unaware about Vardanyan’s intentions to use the weapons for an attempted coup.

The syndicate led by Arthur Vardanyan had planned to overthrow the government.

Armenian intelligence agencies said the syndicate planned to down the presidential aircraft, attack the presidential residence, the governmental HQ, the Parliament Seat, the Constitutional Court building and other state buildings.

Intelligence agencies gathered the information and apprehended all members of the syndicate in November 2015, when national security agents stormed the compound of the syndicate in Yerevan’s Nork Marash district. The location of the compound was the reason why the media dubbed the syndicate – Nork Marash Armed Group.

Statue of Gregory of Narek will become beloved monument of all Christians – Ambassador Mikayel Minasyan

YEREVAN, APRIL 6, ARMENPRESS. It’s a great honor and responsibility for the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to the Holy See MIkayel Minasyan to participate in the ceremony of unveiling the statue of Gregory of Narek in the Vatican and presenting it to the world. ARMENPRESS reports the Ambassador made a note on his Facebook page, noting that the day of unveiling the statue of Gregory of Narek in the Vatican was a historical day with indescribable feelings and impressions.

“Days and events are likely to be forgotten. One day we will leave this world taking with us our memories, but the statue of Gregory of Narek erected in the gardens of the Vatican will remain for the generations forever. Gregory of Narek’s bronze statue is a piece of Armenia in Holy See. The Devine Book called “Narek” is reflected on the statue. The pomegranate tree and the angel are in the front side of the statue, while the dove bringing peace in its beak is reflected in the back side. The author, David Yerevantsi, wanted the statue of Gregory of Narek to become bridge between the earth and the sky and this idea has been excellently implemented. It was a great honor and responsibility for me to unveil the statue and present it to the world”, the Ambassador wrote.

Mikayel Minasyan sincerely believes that the statue of Gregory of Narek will become the beloved monument of all the Christians of the world. “I am heartily thankful to all those who supported us physically and spiritually during the process of bringing into life this historical reality”, he concluded.

On the margins of his official visit to the Holy See, President Serzh Sargsyan attended the ceremony of unveiling the statue of Doctor of the Church St. Gregory of Narek in Vatican. The statue was unveiled by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Holy See Mikayel Minasyan.

The nearly two-meter-high bronze statue was assembled in the Czech Republic: the author is People’s Artist of Armenia, sculptor David Yerevantsi; the architect is Michael Hasratyan. This initiative came into effect through the efforts of Ambassador Mikayel Minasyan, co-funded by well-known Russian businessman Artur Janibekyan and organized by Vardan Karapetyan, responsible officer at the Culture Department of the Armenian Embassy in the Holy See. The statue is made of two copies: one was erected in Vatican, and the second will be installed in Echmiadzin, the spiritual center of all Armenians.

After the unveiling of the statue in the Vatican Gardens, an ecumenical ceremony was held, attended by His Holiness Pope Francis, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, and His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia.

Italian investments increase in Armenia’s economy: President Sargsyan meets President Sergio Mattarella in Rome

YEREVAN, APRIL 6, ARMENPRESS. While on a working visit to Italy, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan met with President Sergio Mattarella on April 6, the Armenian Presidential Office told Armenpress.

The Italian President welcomed his Armenian counterpart and considered a great honor to again host President Sargsyan in Rome after the last meeting three years ago. Sergio Mattarella considered symbolic that Serzh Sargsyan’s last visit as President is taking place in Italy. Sergio Mattarella expressed gratitude to President Sargsyan for development and strengthening of Armenian-Italian relations in all spheres – political, economic and cultural.

The Italian President said Armenia and South Korea in general have a strategic significance for his country. He informed President Sargsyan about his plans to visit Armenia this year, probably in summer and to once again reaffirm the Armenian-Italian friendship. According to the Presidents, this will give new impetus to deepening the bilateral relations.

Both Presidents praised the Armenian-Italian economic ties which intensified recently, as well as highlighted the growth of trade turnover volumes. In this context importance was attached to the formation and activity of the Armenian-Italian Inter-governmental Commission which convened its first session just several months before. The Italian President said he is happy that the Italian investments in Armenia’s economy gradually increase, at this moment comprising nearly 200 million USD. The representativeness of Italian companies in the Armenian market, according to him, also rises.

Among the major investments the Armenian President highlighted the investment project of the Italian Renco and the German Siemens companies in Yerevan within the frames of which a heat power plant which will be distinguished by its great effectiveness in the region will be constructed. The President of Italy considered this as an excellent example of mutual partnership in the economic field.

Sergio Mattarella also highlighted the deepening of the cultural cooperation and the growing interests towards the Italian culture and language in Armenia.

The sides also touched upon the Armenia-EU relations and the signing of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement. The Italian President congratulated Armenia on the signing of this Agreement.

On this occasion Italy’s President said Armenia plays a leading role as a cooperation bridge, and it is really a vivid example where the East and West do not contradict, but they are as a one whole. Armenia’s example, according to the Italian President, is also a good signal on how useful the cooperation can be for all. According to him, by this way it will be possible to establish relations also with the EAEU countries.

The meeting also touched upon the peaceful settlement process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. President Serzh Sargsyan said Armenia supports the Italian 2018 chairmanship priorities in the OSCE and attached importance to Italy’s balanced approach in line with the OSCE principles in regards to the conflict settlement, as well as the support to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ efforts and approaches.

Italy’s President noted that his country supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group aimed at peacefully settling the conflict and is not going to discuss other format of negotiations, expressing hope that the organization together with the conflicting sides will find a right solution way, and the conflict will be solved through mutual concessions as soon as possible. He said one of the priorities of the Italian chairmanship in the OSCE is the solution of prolonged conflicts.

Being informed by President Sargsyan that Armenia fully transitions to a parliamentary system of governance in several days, President Sergio Mattarella said he follows how smoothly the transition from one system to another is taking place. Serzh Sargsyan said Italy also served for Armenia as an example for transitioning to a parliamentary system and its some constitutional principles were also applied in Armenia.

Both Presidents considered the Armenian-Italian joint peacekeeping mission in Lebanon within the frames of international peacekeeping mission as another example of the Armenia-Italy friendship.

Yerevan is older than Rome full of ancient and modern culture – News The Essential Daily Briefing

YEREVAN, APRIL 6, ARMENPRESS. Columnist of British News The Essential Daily Briefing portal Dimitris Hall has published an article about Armenia, naming the 5 places where, according to him, any tourist should visit. “This former Soviet city is older than Rome and is full of ancient and modern culture interacting in interesting ways”, ARMENPRESS reports he wrote.

The author notes that Ararat is one of Armenia’s best-known brandy makers, but not the only one. “In fact, the Noy Wine Factory is built on the foundations of a 16th-century fortress, the walls of which are accessible from the cellar”.

Dimitris Hall also advises the tourists to visit the Lovers’ Park. “It’s right in the city centre, a quiet oasis close to all the important government buildings and sights, such as the Presidential Palace and the National Assembly, and is surrounded by fountains, plants, flowers and statues”, he wrote.

The author also advises to see the Public Radio located in the city center. “One of Yerevan’s most important claims to fame isthe jokes connected to Radio Yerevan and its public radio company from the days of the USSR. The popularity of these jokes across the Iron Curtain during the Cold War brought the East and West closer together, and they can still be heard in some countries to this day”, Dimitris Hall wrote, advising to also visit Yerevan Museum of Folk Art and get acquainted with the works of sculptor Eduard Ghazaryan.

“The man known as the “Armenian da Vinci” was the creator (and player) of the world’s smallest violin. Eduard Khazaryan passed away in 2012 and was a polymath sculptor that worked to extraordinarily microscopic levels, often creating works of art smaller than a grain of sugar or containing elements hundreds of times thinner than a human hair. His work was exhibited in the US, where it was dubbed an “8th wonder of the world”, he wrote, advising to finally visit the Yerevanian Lake where a trolleybus with 96 passengers onboard fell into. “Yerevanian Lake. an artificial reservoir in the outskirts of the city, hides secrets in its depths. In 1968, Paleolithic obsidian tools were discovered in a flooded cave on its shores, now belonging to the US Embassy in Armenia and currently out of bounds. Only 8 years later, in 1976, a trolleybus fell into the reservoir carrying 96 passengers, most of which did not survive. Amazingly, world record-breaking fin-swimming champion Shavarsh Karapetyan was jogging along the lake at the time and made history by heroically diving in and managing to save 20 of the trapped passengers from a depth of 10 metres. His sports career was ruined, and the tragedy, too negative for the USSR’s image at the time, was censored within the country, but that only made this lake’s reputation greater”.

Essential Yerevan guide: five local favourites in the Armenian capital

Dimitris Hall

It’s curious how little exposure there is for Yerevan, capital of Armenia. This former Soviet city is older than Rome and is full of ancient and modern culture interacting in interesting ways. Follow locals Sofia, Arpi and Alan and discover the hidden gems in their Yerevan guide.

Noy Wine Factory (eleganthotel.am)
Armenia’s best brandy and wine Ararat is one of Armenia’s best-known brandy makers, but is by no means the only one, nor the most noteworthy. In fact, the Noy Wine Factory is built on the foundations of a 16th-century fortress, the walls of which are accessible from the cellar. If that’s not enough to warrant a visit, Noy’s brandy and wine are some of the best in the country, at least according to local Sofia.

Cold comfort in a leafy location
It’s not just that Achajour serves café glacé – coffee with ice cream – which hits exactly the right spot in summer; it’s the location that makes this cafe in Lovers’ Park a Yerevan institution. It’s right in the city centre, a quiet oasis close to all the important government buildings and sights, such as the Government Palace and the National Assembly, and is surrounded by fountains, plants, flowers and statues.
Radio Yerevan memorial

One of Yerevan’s most important claims to fame is the jokes connected to Radio Yerevan and its public radio company from the days of the USSR. The popularity of these jokes across the Iron Curtain during the Cold War brought the East and West closer together, and they can still be heard in some countries to this day. A Singing Sculpture was created to commemorate Radio Yerevan’s 90th anniversary as well as the 60th anniversary since the first public TV broadcast. It has a hidden radio receiver always tuned to the Public Radio of Armenia.

The genius of Eduard Khazaryan

The man known as the “Armenian da Vinci” was the creator (and player) of the world’s smallest violin. Eduard Khazaryan passed away in 2012 and was a polymath sculptor that worked to extraordinarily microscopic levels, often creating works of art smaller than a grain of sugar or containing elements hundreds of times thinner than a human hair. His work was exhibited in the US, where it was dubbed an “8th wonder of the world”. Get to know his art up close at the Yerevan Museum of Folk Art.
A mysterious lake

Yerevanian Lake, an artificial reservoir in the outskirts of the city, hides secrets in its depths. His sports career was ruined, and the tragedy, too negative for the USSR’s image at the time, was censored within the country, but that only made this lake’s reputation greater.

Transcaucasian Trail: Mapping Eurasia’s forgotten hiking routes

Transcaucasian Trail: Mapping Eurasia’s forgotten hiking routes

By Marco Ferrarese, CNN

(CNN) — Blame it on the region’s tricky geopolitics or the former Soviet Union, but the mountains of the Caucasus — a high and sheer rocky spine soaring between southwestern Russia and Iran — still for the most part lie untouched and undiscovered.

That’s all about to change thanks to 34-year-old Tom Allen, who has seen the potential of these peaks and is resolute in helping them earn the attention they deserve as a destination.

How? By creating the Transcaucasian Trail — an ambitious, 3,000-kilometer hiking route that will crisscross Armenia and Georgia all the way from the Iranian border to the Georgian-Turkish frontier, and will make odysseys on foot through these rugged and hardly accessible mountains possible.

“To the eyes of self-proclaimed Armenian hiking ‘experts’, perfectly good ‘trails’ already exist,” says Allen, founder of the Transcaucasian Trail project.

He sits barefoot and cross-legged in the living room of the Transcaucasian Trail headquarters, set on a hill overlooking the town of Dilijan — the gateway to Armenia’s best known national park.

“Truth be told, in the eyes of most foreign hikers, those are just steep, muddy jeep tracks they must share with 4x4s and cows,” he says. “We are working towards transforming the ancient connecting routes of local shepherds into world-class hiking and biking trails.”

Grassroots determination

Allen’s strong resolution comes from his adventurer background. Before becoming the Transcaucasian Trail’s “explorer in chief,” for several years he toured the world on a bicycle, curating one of the world’s most successful bike touring blogs and filming a few acclaimed independent adventure documentaries.

“Janapar: Love, on a Bike” (2014) recounts how Allen, who is originally from England, met his Armenian-Iranian wife Tenny and ended up staying in the region — a most romantic prelude to getting involved with trail-building operations.

“Full-time travel wore thin after a few years, and I started craving something deeper,” he explains.

“Armenia is somewhere I ended up accidentally, but seeds germinate where they fall, right? So here I am, building a trail for everyone, helping other people in a way that aligns with the values I’d developed on the road.”

The Transcaucasian Trail launched in 2016 as the “Transcaucasian Expedition” thanks to a grant and 4×4 vehicle Allen received from the Royal Geographic Society and Land Rover in London.

By the end of the summer of 2017, his team of local experts and international volunteers completed the first 100 kilometers of trail, through Armenia’s Dilijan National Park.

At the same time, a sister operation led by the Transcaucasian Trail’s co-founder, American and former Peace Corps volunteer Paul Stephens, has completed a section of the trail in the Svaneti region of northwestern Georgia.

“Quite simply, we will both keep forging ahead for as long as it takes to connect the two trunks at the Georgian-Armenian border,” explains Allen.

The final, enormous trail may take up to a decade to complete, says Allen — and several months to hike in its entirety. Hikers will be able to join the first fund-raising expeditions in the summer of 2018.

The mammoth mapping and building task, however, has the humble approach of an underground do-it-yourself operation.

Alongside the team, volunteers share communal meals and sleep in tents out in the bush.

Just three people run the show: Allen, who works as trail development coordinator, deciding where work should actually take people; a trail building crew leader, who oversees the work itself; and a camp manager, who looks after the operation of the work camp, staffed by about 15 volunteers who apply online and travel to Armenia in the summer to join the workforce.

“We live out in the field Monday to Friday,” says Ben Allen, Tom’s brother, who joined the project in 2017 from Vancouver, Canada, as a field coordinator.

“A typical day means getting up at 6 a.m. for breakfast and a 7 a.m. start for the work site, usually a few minutes’ hike away. We work until 4 p.m., with three breaks during the day.”

It’s a hard but simple life: In the late afternoons and evenings, the team rests at the campsite.

Chores such as cooking, washing up and collecting water and firewood are shared on a daily rota. On weekends, they return to headquarters, and those who miss city comforts can travel to the capital Yerevan, about three hours’ drive away from Dilijan.

A steep climb ahead

Besides the vehicle and the initial financial grant, Allen has also been sourcing funds locally.

“Forming an NGO was a necessary step to receive funding and form partnerships with other local organizations,” he explains.

“At this stage, we are partnering with Caucasus Nature Fund, [which] supports small infrastructure projects in the protected areas of the Caucasus, and the Hovnanian Foundation, whose current focus is on developing hiking in Armenia.”

The project, however, still relies on a lot of passion.

“I had to keep a careful eye out for individuals who were ready to start working with no financial incentive, and find ways to then retroactively pay them a salary and keep them involved.”

The challenge ahead is seeing if the trail will actually take off, making Armenia a more attractive adventure travel destination.

“It’s still an unknown: The names aren’t so recognizable. The destinations aren’t in the brochures. Budget flights aren’t properly advertised. People fear what they don’t know,” says Allen.

But he also clarifies that he never thought the trail would make the Caucasus a mainstream travel destination.

“Long-distance hiking trails only appeal to long-distance hikers and wannabe long-distance hikers,” he says.

“There may be some indirect effect, in that the kind of adventurous travelers who’ll hike parts of the Transcaucasian Trail will no doubt spin stories about it when they go home.

“My guess is that the trail infrastructure will also be used by non-hikers: The Appalachian Trail in the USA has more than a million people a year hiking at least for a day on it — and yet, only a few thousand complete the whole thing.”

Another important issue is, given the bloody history surrounding Armenian national borders, how much neighboring Azerbaijan — the region’s other rising star, which introduced simplified eVisa procedures in early 2017 and still contests the landlocked Nagorno-Karabakh region with Armenia — will make or break the project.

“Azerbaijan hasn’t been left out. We just haven’t found partners there yet,” says Allen.

“Development of the trail eastwards towards the Caspian Sea will depend on finding another Paul or Tom who makes it his or her life’s work to bring it into existence. And as much as I’d love to kick off the process in Azerbaijan myself, I’ve got my hands full already.”

Allen stops for a moment to ponder the weight of his own words.

Through the window behind him, the shape of Dilijan’s mountains shimmers in the early afternoon light, and the weight of the massive operation he’s balancing on his shoulders comes into focus.

“The only thing that is making all this happen,” he continues, looking up again with that imperturbable calm that one only sees in heroes or madmen, “is the deep belief that it’s possible. Just like any long journey, it’s just a case of taking it one step at a time, coming up regularly for air.”

Azerbaijani Press: What to expect after April 11?

What to expect after April 11?

by Analytical Service Turan

On April 9, the renovation of the republican leadership will be completed in Armenia. A 65-year-old President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sargsyan, elected March 2, 2018, will take office April 9. At the same time, the incumbent head of the republic Serzh Sargsyan will leave the presidency. It is very likely in Armenia that the former president Sargsyan will be elected prime minister in the parliament on April 17, according to the new Armenian constitution, he will actually be the head of state. This will complete the process of Armenia’s transition to a parliamentary form of government.

On April 11, presidential elections will be held in Azerbaijan. Elections, according to the constitution, were planned for October this year, but in February 2018 President I.Aliyev unexpectedly for the population and politicians appointed early elections on April 11. At that time, analysts speculated about the reason for the outwardly unjustified decision to postpone the transfer. One of the versions, not the most popular one, was the desire of the Azerbaijani president to complete the administrative procedures with his almost re-election, at the same time with the end of similar events in Armenia, so that both sides of the Karabakh conflict returned to the peace talks.

It is possible that the proposal to synchronize its electoral campaign with the Armenian came to Aliyev from outside, from the superpower supervising the talks. And if to look for the force more close to the Karabakh process, it inevitably is Russia.

The Armenian media write about the new pressure on this country from Russia, which allegedly intends to force Yerevan to abandon Karabakh. Journalists and analysts provide various “evidence”. The last is the unexpected entry of Russian military police into the territory of the republic, not only in Gumri, which in fact became a city for the Russian military base, but also in Yerevan. In Azerbaijan, they do not write about Russian pressure, as we do not have such obvious events in Armenia. So, there is complete mutual understanding between Baku and Moscow regarding the plan of forthcoming actions, but it’s necessary to pressure Armenia. The conclusion is too superficial, very much in the style of the Armenian media, but excuse me, there is no other.

Let’s not be unfounded: “On the one hand, they are trying to please Armenia, on the other hand they are continuing to sell weapons to Azerbaijan while deploying the military police in Armenia.” We are in an extremely dangerous situation and the threat does not come from where it was expected. Then and now the threat comes from Russia,” warns the publicist, political scientist, Anush Sedrakyan.

“On March 15, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said that there is no representation of the Artsakh Republic in Moscow, that is, Russia once again “washed its hands” of Nagorno Karabakh once a month,” concludes Acnis.am. By the way, the CSTO Secretary General “washed his hands off the Karabakh” by much more transparently saying that the CSTO will not be at war for Karabakh.

It should also be added that in a very small part of the Armenian public environment, there is readiness for compromises that suit Azerbaijan, or sufficient for an adequate proposal to Azerbaijan. Baku reads the Russian-speaking and even Armenian-language socio-political press and finds in publications the recognition of the impasse, the futility of the reality around Karabakh. Confessions, both in the form of separate statements, and expressed in the form of publications, explain to the local reader the need for changes in the Armenian official line in the Karabakh issue.

“The continuation of the conflict has a very big impact on migration, which is a very painful issue for us …”, MP Naira Zohrabyan.

Hayk Gazaryan, a journalist from Nagorno-Karabakh, “According to official figures, they do not emigrate from Artsakh” refers to the departure of Armenians from the occupied territories, despite assurances from the local authorities that there is no such problem.http://theanalyticon.com /?p=3966&lang=en

The opinion of the Armenians is being “crushed” by new international realities: the long-term efforts of the separatists to create “Kurdistan” in the territory of the three Middle Eastern states have collapsed, Catalonia has been torn from Spain, and Scotland from Great Britain.

The leadership of Azerbaijan does not apply to the possible intensification of negotiations with Armenia after the end of the election campaigns in the two warring countries. Official Baku continues to disseminate promises about the restoration of Azerbaijani legality in Karabakh, and not excluding the use of military force. Against the backdrop of numerous threats from Baku, the statement of the presidential aide on public and political issues Ali Hasanov, who promised in December 2017 to the Armenians wide autonomy to Nagorno-Karabakh and the securing of the civil rights of the local Armenian population, looks dissonant. He talked about this in December 2017, and a month later, in early February, Aliyev postponed the presidential elections on April 11.

The Azerbaijani society does not believe the success of the Karabakh talks after the completion of the two election campaigns. “… imagine for a moment that Armenia and Azerbaijan somehow came to agreed. And why after this Armenia and Azerbaijan will need Russia and its armament? No, it is Russia that is doing and will do everything possible and impossible that this conflict will not be resolved as long as possible,” commented on Ramiz Aslanov the new negotiations.
