The men’s basketball team of Armenia failed to o overcome the pre-elections of the 2021 European Championship.

In the last game of the Group B, our basketball players had to score a total of 26 points more than in the Danish team to win the first place. However, in the Copenhagen match, the opposite result was recorded, with Danish basketball players reaching an advantage by 90:64 (22:16, 18:26, 28:12, 22:10). Hess earned the most points (20) in our team.

Thus, the Armenian team suffered a second defeat at the championship, occupied the second place and finished its performance at Euro-2021, and Albania-Denmark match result will not have effect on it.

The chess match of Karen Asryan Memorial is going to end today in Jermuk.

Before the last round, 11 chess players are competing to get the main prize. The most chancesof winning have three players: Indian grandmasters Krishna Sashikiran and Seturaman and Armenian champion Hayk Martirosyan. They have 6 points each. The remaining eight chess players are half a point behind the top three.

Two games from the last 9th round matches are are very important. Hayk Martirosyan will compete with Hrant Melkumyan and Indian chess grandmasters will compete with each other. The future opportunities f these layers depends on these two meetings.

His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, hosted today acting Mayor of Armenia’s Etchmiadzin city Diana Gasparyan, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin’s press service told Panorama.am.

Catholicos Karekin II congratulated the acting mayor on her appointment, expressing confidence she would spare no effort for the benefit of the city’s welfare.

His Holiness touched upon the initiatives undertaken by the Mother See due to which the city became more attractive for the visitors, meantime presenting the future plans. In this regard, he attached importance to the cooperation between the Armenian spiritual center and the City Hall.

Acting Etchmiadzin Mayor Diana Gasparyan for her part highlighted the social, educational and charity programs being implemented by the Armenian Apostolic Church, namely by the Mother See. She voiced her readiness to further intensify the existing cooperation by contributing to those programs.

During the meeting, Catholicos Karekin II and the Etchmiadzin mayor discussed the steps being taken to overcome the challenges facing the city.

Aram Hakobyan, a member of the Sasna Tsrer group, did not attend the hearing today. He was taken to Gyumri Medical Center in the morning. The court sent a letter from the medical center saying that he had health problems, particularly with the brain.

Aram Hakobyan’s lawyer, Tigran Yegoryan, told the court that his client had received two brain stroke during his imprisonment and presented a motion to postpone the hearing.

Prosecutor Hakob Yenokyan objected to postponing the hearing, noting that all necessary documents were filed with the court regarding Aram Hakobyan’s health.

Judge Arshak Vardanyan postponed court hearing for one week.

To remind, Aram Hakobyan’s detention was changed two weeks ago and now he is in freedom.

On June 28, President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian, who is in the United States on a working visit, met with and held a Q&A session with the Armenian students who pass probation period in the Congress, Senate, Smithsonian Institution and other institutions by the assistance of the Armenian Assembly of America.

On the same day the President held a luncheon with the executives of the Armenian Assembly of America, as well as the representatives of the Armenian Democratic Liberty Party (Ramgavar) in the Armenian Embassy in the US.

The referees have applied for help to the new system of video-replays 26 times during the group stage in football championship in Russia, Globo Esporte newspaper reports.

The referees personally have watched 16 times the disputable parts, and 10 times they have been prompted by electronic contact assistants. Chief referees changed their initial decision 16 times. They mostly viewed episodes related to the 11m stroke – 17 times.

Enrique Casserre has frequently asked for help from the new system from the game-makers- 4 times.

Member of the Union of Yerkrapah Volunteers (UYV) Ara Khudaverdyan told a news conference today that the names of Serzh Sargsyan, Seyran Ohanyan, Seyran Saroyan, Vazgen Sargsyan’s brother Aram Sargsyan are discussed as the president of the UYV. The latter is also going to put his candidacy. However, many members of the union are against the fact that the union is governed by one person.

He also touched upon Aram Sargsyan’s candidacy.

“I was ready to die with Vazgen Sargsyan’s call, but Aram Sargsyan himself says what sort of Yerkrapah he is. If a person has not been in the battlefield, he does not understand about that case, what does that man do? I do not see him as president, I will see him as president, when he will leave everything, he will be a good president.”

Gagik Davtyan, the former chairman of Arabkir district division of Yerkrapah Volunteer Union, believes that the union should remain and be self-purified.
