Director of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund Ara Vardanyan has been released on bail. The court has set a bail at 1 million AMD, Vardanyan’s lawyer Lusine Sahakyan told Armenpress.

“We have submitted a motion to change the precautionary measure by setting a bail at 1 million AMD, and the investigator didn’t object”, she said.

168: MP Tsarukyan’s chief bodyguard remanded in custody

Eduard Babayan, chief bodyguard of president of the Armenian National Olympic Committee, leader of the Prosperous Armenia party, MP Gagik Tsarukyan, has been charged for beating Vyacheslav Harutyunyan, causing severe damage to his life.

The special investigative service filed a motion to a court requesting to remand Babayan in custody. The motion was approved.

Investigation continues.

168: We are not targeting someone’s family or individual – PM Pashinyan on recent discoveries

The new leadership of Armenia is not targeting someone’s family or an individual, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told reporters in Areni, commenting on the recent discoveries linked with the family of Alexander Sargsyan, brother of third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan.

The PM announced that after these events Serzh Sargsyan or anyone else didn’t try to contact him. “I want to clarify that we are not targeting someone’s family or an individual. We are moving forward based on the calls, applications and operative information of law enforcement agencies. The task is put in a different manner: there should be legality in the country, and the law enforcement agencies should work effectively”, Pashinyan said, adding that as a result of these operations several dozen million USD will enter to the state budget.

Commenting on the situation in the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, he said he is being reported on the situation every day. “There is certain political and military-political tension, and everything is said by this. I want for us neither to overestimate nor underestimate this situation. All leaderships of Armenia have always stated that in fact we don’t have a peace agreement with Azerbaijan, we just have a ceasefire and constant ceasefire violations since its establishment”, he said.

Talking about the agenda of the upcoming visit to Brussels, Pashinyan said: “We are carrying out peacekeeping missions within NATO and this event is also dedicated to that mission. The agenda within the EU is the issue of our bilateral relations, implementation of signed contacts and further cooperation”.

Mayor of Masis wanted by law enforcement in suspicion of assault

Amid an ongoing investigation into a suspected assault, Mayor of the Armenian town of Masis Davit Hambardzumyan has been declared wanted on new charges.

His brother is also charged in the case which goes back to April 22 when the mayor is suspected in assaulting protesters.

The mayor was earlier arrested but subsequently released a short time after for the same incident.

The investigative committee said that a court has approved a motion to remand the mayor into custody.

Mayor of Armenia’s Kapan resigns

Ashot Hayrapetyan, the Mayor of Kapan, a town in the southeast of Armenia, has resigned.

“Dear residents of Kapan, I am resigning as Mayor,” he said on Facebook.

Explaining his resignation, Hayrapetyan said there are “objective, subjective and deep reasons.”

He said that his vision in the management of the town differs from the vision of the residents.

He wished good luck to his successor.

Aramayis Grigoryan is a Web Content Developer at TUMO Center of Creative Technologies.

The PM also sacked Armen Mirzoyan as secretary general of the food safety inspectorate and Levon Khalikyan as head of the market control inspectorate.

A revolution took place, because you have changed, President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian told young participants of the Democracy, Security and Foreign Policy forum on July 7.

“The people who are walking the streets today are different from the people who walked the streets months earlier. One must be blind not to see that there is hope and faith for the future in their eyes,” the president said.

The president was the guest at the 3rd forum’s session of the Armenian Institute of International and Security Affairs.

At the beginning, the president touched upon the changes which took place in Armenia and attached importance to the role of the youth in them.

“There are different headlines – Velvet Revolution, New Armenia, but the best description is Young Armenia, because this all contains the idea of youth, which is faith for the future,” Sarkissian said.

At a subsequent Q&A, the president said he sees the solution of the NK conflict exclusively in a peaceful way.

“Solutions by force are unacceptable in the Artsakh settlement issue. Any solution by force will be tragic for all sides. The only way for settlement are peaceful talks,” he said.

Azerbaijan commits 155 individual ceasefire violations in Artsakh in one week

Azerbaijan made over 155 individual ceasefire violations in the Artsakh line of contact over the week ( July 1 – July 7 ), the ministry of defense of Artsakh said.

According to the ministry, Azerbaijani troops used various caliber firearms to fire more than 1500 rounds at Artsakh positions.

“The Defense Army [Artsakh] continues to be in control of the tactical-strategic situation and takes necessary steps for reliable organization of protection of combat positions,” the ministry said in a statement.

PM Pashinyan urgently summons deputy chief military inspector for illegal political activities in Artsakh

Major General Michael Arzumanyan, Armenia’s deputy chief military inspector, has been urgently summoned by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to provide explanations regarding his engagement in politics, something which is banned under the law.

Pashinyan’s spokesperson Arman Yeghoyan told ARMENPRESS that reports emerged earlier regarding Arzumanyan’s involvement in politics in Artsakh. He said that the reports were confirmed.

A photo picturing Arzumanyan with an anti-government protest group in Artsakh was posted online.

Arzumanyan is serving as deputy chief military inspector from June 27.

Serzh Sargsyan’s diplomat brother Lyova Sargsyan declared wanted in suspicion of white-collar crime

Former President Serzh Sargsyan’s brother Lyova Sargsyan, a diplomat serving as Ambassador at-large, has been charged by the special investigative service for not declaring property and illicit enrichment. Lyova Sargsyan’s daughter Ani, and son Narek have also been charged.

Narek Sargsyan owns shares of JLJ PROJECT COMPANY. His house was searched by detectives and bank papers showing undeclared deposited 6,800,000 USD were discovered. The papers, dated in the second semester of 2017, were under the names of Lyova Sargsyan, Narek himself and his sister, Ani.

Under the law, officials and their families have to file asset declarations.

Lyova Sargsyan and his children have failed to declare the abovementioned money.

The special investigative service requested a court to remand Lyova Sargsyan in custody, which was approved.

Lyova Sargsyan has been declared wanted.

The court approved a bail motion for his children.
