The existential security of Artsakh is possible only with today’s borders

The most important issue in Artsakh is ensuring the existential security and security status of 150,000 people. This was announced by RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan in Stepanakert.

It should be noted that the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiation process is currently based on the well-known Madrid principles, the implementation of which, however, cannot ensure the security of Artsakh Armenians, as stated by the RA Foreign Minister.

In recent days, Azerbaijan has targeted the territory of Armenia – Tavush region and Areni village. Baku will not follow the path of recognition of Artsakh, but sees active preparations for a military solution, as evidenced by the Turkish-Azerbaijani military exercises, the visit of the Israeli Defense Minister to Baku, within the framework of which new military-technical contracts may be signed, as well as Erdogan’s statements that relations with Armenia will not be settled until Karabakh is returned to Azerbaijan.

As for the document itself, the Madrid principles, their implementation will lead to the depopulation of Artsakh.

The seven regions or the “security zone”, which are actually the intact parts of the NKR, are Armenian lands, have strategic importance – it is a vital Armenian territory, without which it is impossible to ensure the existential security of the 150,000 people mentioned by Mr. Mnatsakanyan.

First, let’s start from Aghdam (Akna), which is located about 30 km from Stepanakert. During the April four-day battles, the Azerbaijanis wanted to divide Karabakh into two parts, cutting off the northern and southern regions and quickly reaching Stepanakert with tanks, through the Aghdam-Stepanakert tank attack (марш бросок).

If the Azerbaijanis return to Aghdam, and this is assumed by the Madrid document, then, as during the first Karabakh war, it will turn into a strongly fortified, equipped firing point, keeping the heart of the NKR, Stepanakert, under direct artillery fire. In the case of the accumulation of tank troops in Aghdam, the entire region of Askeran and the capital Stepanakert become an easy target, the geography there is flat and allows for the widespread use of armored vehicles, including tanks.

And the Near-Zaraksian regions, in addition to their great agricultural potential, are also important from a military point of view: they are the rear of Hadrut, Shushi, Askeran, and the return of Azerbaijanis there will turn Nagorno-Karabakh into an enclave surrounded by firing points from all sides.

Near-Zaraksian regions are of great economic importance: they ensure NKR’s connection with Iran (after NKR recognition, Stepanakert will be able to maintain a land connection with Iran), as well as insure Syunik Marz of RA, because the surrender of Kubatlu, Jebrail and other regions will again become a headache for Meghri, Kapan and other cities. The Azerbaijanis will build firing points in those regions of Near-Arakh, which will already keep the Syunik region under fire from both sides: the positions of Nakhichevan are under fire from Vayots Dzor, Syunik from the west, and in this case, the Azerbaijanis will appear behind Syunik from the east as well.

As for the Kelbajar region, it is unnecessary to talk about its importance: drinking water resources of Artsakh, strategic position, from there it is possible to control Martakert and Kashatagh, Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik and other regions of RA with small forces.

Thus, the NKR is a viable state only with today’s borders: the return of the former borders will condemn the NKR to depopulation in the military, economic, and demographic sense and turn it into a “second Nakhichevan”.

Editor-in-Chief of Yerevan Today website Sevak Hakobyan

Editor-in-Chief of Yerevan Today website Sevak Hakobyan presented details of the search conducted by the police and investigative committee in the editorial office of the website. In a conversation with journalists, Sevak Hakobyan mentioned that the incident was strange for him.

“I consider it an irresponsible practice that the wiretapping conversation was put earlier on our website according to the police information. I consider this an attempt to harm our activity,” he said.

At 8:30 this morning, dozens of employees of the 6th Police Department and CSI entered the editorial office of the yerevan.today news website, presented the decisions of the court and the investigative body on conducting a search.

Sevak Hakobyan informed that they will hold a press conference in the near future. “At the moment, I can only say that they confiscated my computer and the hard drives of other computers. Moreover, this was done as a result of repeated inspections. They recorded that the information they came for was published on our website much later than it was distributed, but after that they confiscated what they needed and left,” said Hakobyan.

To remind, a few days ago yerevan.today published a statement that said: “Dear visitors of Yerevan.Today, information has spread on the Internet that our website allegedly posted the telephone conversation of the heads of the National Security Service and the National Security Service 2 days ago, as if knowing in advance. Some “evidence” is shown. Internet experts have already denied this, stating that there is a problem with Google’s system.

But still, misinformation is being spread widely, which is turning into a massive counter-propaganda against our site. We inform you that we found out about the recording by chance, on September 11, at exactly the same time, around 14:00, as our other colleagues and netizens. We posted it on the website around 3:00 PM, when it was already widely distributed. We posted the video only after transcribing it.”

To the question: What does the second president of RA Robert Kocharyan have to do with Yerevan Today website, Sevak Hakobyan assured that Robert Kocharyan is not the owner of the website and has nothing to do with the website at all.

The head of the country should not divide citizens into colors, and I hope that at some point Nikol Pashinyan will apologize to the citizens of Armenia and to us as well. Edmon Marukyan, a deputy of the National Assembly “Exit” faction, chairman of the “Bright Armenia” party, stated this in a conversation with Factor.am.

“To say that only we are white, everyone else is black, that is the beginning of everything,” said Marukyan.

To the question, were the RPA members right when they announced that there is an atmosphere of hatred in the country, Marukyan answered: “Republicans said that this atmosphere of hatred is against them. I say that the Republicans do not participate in the elections, but that line was drawn between the participating forces, that there are blacks and whites, therefore, people take advantage of this, they try to catch fish in murky water.

Let’s remind that Nikol Pashinyan supported the famous statement of the mayoral candidate Hayk Marutyan about blacks and whites at the campaign rally of the “My step” alliance held in Erebuni on September 10.

I want to believe that administrative resources will not be used in the elections. Zohrabyan

There are only a few days left before the Yerevan Council of Elders elections, passions continue to heat up.

“Prosperous Armenia” party candidate for mayor of Yerevan Naira ZohrabyanToday, in the Nor Nork administrative district, he once again addressed the issue that Yerevan is not only being divided into blacks and whites, but also that state resources have been put against him.

“I have never had a bad opinion of myself, but when the entire state machinery, leaving the problems of the state behind, yesterday all night and all day today, in a systematic way, with ministries, organizations, councils of elders, were busy with me, frankly speaking, my opinion of my own self-worth increased even more,” he declared.

According to Zohrabyan, employees of the ministry write to him openly, and he is surprised not only by the fact that women can use such insults, but also by how idle the employees of the ministry are. “I didn’t think that the whole state, all the state institutions, abandoned their work and hired fakes on social networks using all state resources, would declare war. It speaks of one thing: we are true and the programs we present have won your trust, that they have nothing to offer other than slander,” he declared, urging to respect the people of Yerevan, not to insult him.

Naira Zohrabyan repeated her words that she said almost from the first day of the campaign that Yerevan wants to see a solution to its problems and “Prosperous Armenia” is clearly aware of this and presents clear plans to it. But the important thing today is that the capital is not divided into blacks and whites, because today there is no black-white problem, no hero and traitor problem, and no dukhov-andukhov problem.

“Today, for me, as a deputy, a citizen and a candidate for mayor, there is only one watershed that passes through the solved and unsolved problems of Yerevan,” he emphasized.

Zohrabyan said that he wants to believe that the government will not use administrative resources in these elections, if it does, it will be the biggest blow to the enlightened revolution that gave the people faith.

“The worst thing the RPA did was that they broke the citizen’s faith, hope, killed the citizen, there is a unique opportunity to become a citizen, claimant again. The city should be trusted to a woman, Yerevan needs the caring hands of a mother,” he said.

By the way, during the campaign, when Naira Zohrabyan was giving a speech, a man approached her, introduced himself as an employee of “Grigor Lusavorich” hospital and informed that a shameful massacre of personnel had started in the medical institution. He did not elaborate on the reason for the dismissal of all hospital workers, but urged Zohrabyan to help solve this problem. The MP promised to deal with the issue.

While speaking at the “My Step” alliance campaign in the Avan administrative district, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recalled the first day of the 2017 Yerevan Council of Elders election campaign, when he was nominated as a mayoral candidate and started the campaign from this district.

“A strange and symbolic thing happened in this district, we were passing between the stalls, and I don’t know what people heard or learned that day, they kept offering bread. Perhaps one of the most important moments of my political activity, because after swallowing every piece of bread, I felt that I was making a covenant with our people through that bread. I stand here now and am happy to say that the condition of that covenant has been kept, that bread has not been made haram, and you have won, my people. That covenant did not end with this, it enters a new phase and will exist forever, because in RA there will be a government that loves the people and bows down to the people, and this has no alternative. that covenant is being renewed today and gaining new momentum,” he said according to Slaq.am.

Nikol Pashinyan noticed that there were children at the rally and noted that no one can question the future of these children. “All those who will try to encroach on the future of these children, we will not only lay them on the asphalt, but also wall them,” he said. The Prime Minister said that we signed a covenant with every citizen of the Republic of Armenia with bread, tears, smiles and solidarity throughout the territory of the Republic of Armenia, in every corner of the country. “The sanctity of your bread is preserved and will be preserved as long as my heart beats,” he said.

Asbarez: ANCA-WR Endorses Newsom for California Governor

ANCA-WR Board, Advisory Board and ANCA National Board members with gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom

GLENDALE—The Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region this week announced its endorsement of Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom for California Governor during the general election on November 6.

“After several substantive discussions with Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom throughout the past year, the ANCA-Western Region Board of Directors was unanimous in its decision to endorse him as the next Governor of California. He has a solid understanding of issues that are important to the Armenian-American community, and we are confident that as Governor, he will maintain open lines of communication and will positively address the needs of our community and of California’s residents overall,” stated Nora Hovsepian, Chair of the ANCA-WR.

Lieutenant Governor Newsom has had a long history with the Armenian-American community in his native San Francisco, and has been a strong supporter of its issues beginning with his days as a San Francisco Supervisor, then as Mayor of the City following his election in 2003, and as Lieutenant Governor for the past eight years.

The announcement of his endorsement was made following a September fundraiser for Newsom where he met with representatives of the ANCA-WR in Southern California. The ANCA-WR had also endorsed Newsom during the primaries following a meeting in May where Newsom expressed encouragement regarding the recent peaceful transition in the Armenian government, stating “The response to the populist call for reform and greater democracy and transparency is to be congratulated, and among the many positive consequences is the prospect that it could help promote increased trade and interaction between the State of California, Armenia and Artsakh.”

Lt. Governor Newson has been a staunch supporter of the Divest Turkey campaign, with most recently calling for divestment at the University of California and CalPERS at the April 24 March for Justice.

Whether on the issue of justice for the Armenian Genocide, or other issues of importance to the Armenian-American community, Newsom has never forsaken his principles, and always stood firmly in support of human rights and justice for crimes against humanity.

Newsom was appointed to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1997, representing District 2. He was first elected Mayor of San Francisco in 2003 and was reelected to a second term in 2007. The ANCA-WR endorsed Gavin Newsom based on his long and faithful record of public service and his steadfast support of issues of concern to Armenian-Americans. Ever since his tenure on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, Newsom has held an open-door policy toward his constituents, carrying their message to City Hall.

As supervisor, Newsom supported the sale of the Mount Davidson Cross to the Council of Armenian-American Organizations of Northern California who preserved the landmark and installed a bronze plaque at the base honoring the victims of the Armenian Genocide.

The Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region is the largest and most influential Armenian-American grassroots advocacy organization in the Western United States. Working in coordination with a network of offices, chapters, and supporters throughout the Western United States and affiliated organizations around the country, the ANCA-WR advances the concerns of the Armenian-American community on a broad range of issues.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has commented on the enlistment of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s son Heydar Aliyev into military service.

The PM was speaking today at the campaigning rally of My Step bloc for the upcoming Yerevan City Council election.

Addressing the conscription of Aliyev’s son, the Armenian PM said that the people of Azerbaijan should demand their leader for his son to serve at the border.

“In the past three days the soldier serving in the Armenian Armed Forces [shot] three Azerbaijanis not because they liked it, but because they were firing at the direction of [Armenian] border villages at the orders of Azerbaijan.

The people of Azerbaijan should demand that Ilham Aliyev’s son serves in the border, and that’s when we will see what kind of a situation will be created at the border. No mother of any Azerbaijani can accuse us, because we are taking counteractions only when they themselves act like this,” Pashinyan said.

According to Azerbaijani news media President Ilham Aliyev’s son Heydar Aliyev has been enlisted to military service in one of the state security service bases of the country.

In a late July interview to Russian media, Nikol Pashinyan was asked by Echo of Moscow host Alexey Venediktov why he has sent his son Ashot Pashinyan to serve in Karabakh. Pashinyan answered by saying that his son volunteered to serve there.

“Many interpret this as an aggressive gesture, but on the contrary it is a peace-loving step. We all understand that when I send my son to Karabakh I don’t want war to start there. God forbid my son or the sons of my countrymen, or the sons of ordinary Azerbaijanis die. It isn’t reasonable. I don’t want it. I would be glad if Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev would also send his son to serve there. If his son would also serve there, I would accept it as a peace-loving step. We would all be convinced that Mr. Aliyev too doesn’t want his son to die,” Pashinyan had said in the interview.

ANC-WR Chairwoman Nora Hovsepain meets with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Sept. 11 in Yerevan

“An important part of the ANCA’s mission is to promote bilateral political and trade relations between the U.S. and Armenia. As the fifth largest economy in the world and as home to the largest organized community in the worldwide Armenian Diaspora, California plays a unique role in advancing this goal. We are gratified that such a distinguished group of state legislators, local elected officials and influential policy makers from the IT sector have accepted our invitation to join this important delegation, and as the New Armenia opens its doors for input and bilateral relations, we look forward to achieving tangible results which will mutually benefit both sides,” stated Hovsepain before leaving for Armenia.
