Kim Kardashian dressed as her “Armenian style icon” Cher at a photo shoot, and she was really turning back time on my brain — she looks just like Cher! If Kim could just stick to Cher-themed pictorials from now on, I’m pretty sure the world will be a better place.

What better way to make your idol proud than to pay them a very public tribute?

Cher gave her stamp of approval to Kim Kardashian West‘s homage to the singer on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia‘s September issue, tweeting a message of support to the reality star on Thursday.

Kardashian West, 36, responded with her own tweet, telling Cher, 71, “I love you!!!!”

Earlier this week the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star debuted an entirely new look with her Jackie Kennedy Onassis photoshoot for Interview magazine.

She later dressed as the “Believe” singer who she called her “number one style icon,” copying Cher’s notoriously long locks and feathery lashes, wearing a beaded dress with fringe that you could envision the performer sashaying in at Studio 54.

“She’s always had the sickest style, I’m obsessed with her,” Kardashian West told the magazine of the performer. “To think that she was wearing these sheer dresses in the ’70s and just what people must have thought back then.”

While Kardashian West happily channeled the singer’s style for the magazine, she said she strives to be herself.

“At the end of the day I still have to be me,” she said. “If doing sexy shoots makes me feel confident, then I’m okay with it. That might not be appropriate for some people, and there’s a time and a place. There’s certain things I’ll show my kids and certain things I won’t show my kids. But generally I am okay with it. In moderation.”

She also cheers on other moms to do what makes them feel good.

“More power to the moms that look really good, work really hard, do what they can so that they still feel sexy, still feel good about themselves,” she said. “I don’t think for a second that because you become a mom you can’t be sexy any more.”

BAKU: Mr. Lavrov, start with yourself!

Sensing the strengthened shoulder of their foreign patrons, Yerevan continues to swim further into the darkness.

The views of the Russian Foreign Ministry, according to which the West is blocking the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, are hopelessly outdated. Is it logical to complain endlessly that in conditions when America is far away, and Russia is nearby, the Kremlin is unable to curb the hotbed of tension at its own borders? It is possible, if you do not take into account the obvious fact that the lobbying pro-Armenian grouping has not only settled but also strengthened within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the northern neighbor.

However, it is increasingly difficult for Russia to hide attachments, frank curtsey in favor of the aggressor, who demonstratively spits on Moscow’s authority as the global center of power.

Minister Sergei Lavrov and his punishing hand in the face of spokesperson Maria Zakharova are definitely unable to retouch their own sins with excuses like “If it were not for the West, we would have long settled the conflict in Karabakh.”

This is true: Russia indeed is able to defend its sovereignty, its security in the face of NATO’s attempts to establish itself in the world, as Lavrov indicated speaking before the MGIMO staff. But he did not find it important to admit that, in order to strengthen its positions, Moscow is increasing the capacity of counteracting the destructive resources of regional problems, when, for example, Azerbaijan pays for this. That is, the flow of Russian countermeasures is enriched by diversifying its neighbors’ costs.

Is there any reason for Lavrov to act as a complainer, who is not satisfied with NATO’s attempts to change the military and political situation by building up a physical presence in the regions bordering Russia Unquestionably, there is. Therefore, in order to neutralize the competitor’s efforts, first of all, it is necessary to neutralize dangerous trends by suppressing hotbeds of tension.

A part of the military and political elite overseas does not only think but also implements the plan for encircling Russia with a ring of all kinds of hot spots. If they are no such hotbeds, for example, in some prosperous neighboring region with Russia, they will certainly come up with it. There are plenty of ethno-territorial occasions and historical motives. If any, the West uses them to establish themselves in the perimeter of existing crises for loosening Russian redoubts.

In the Karabakh dilemma, Moscow acts in a manner that is presumptuous, relying on an unshakable head start. However, the actions to unblock the crisis in the “teaspoonful” tradition do not only come contrary to the expectations of the suffering sides of the conflict, but also are irrelevant to the logic of constructivism, which Mr. Lavrov always insists on.

Having stymied in the wilds of the strategy of counteracting Euro-Atlanticism, the Smolenskaya Square loses its initiative in the concept of Eurasianism proclaimed by Moscow itself. The Karabakh problem, despite its relatively local geopolitical caliber, contains a large explosive fuse. The orbit of states that show interest in it includes both world leaders and regional powers. The problem has been internationalized. Going from moderate soil to the elements of military solution would not only turn the South Caucasus into a boiling cauldron, but also blow it up.

The trio of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs previously collectively cuddled the troublemaker, thus stimulating the territorial ambitions of the aggressor. Later, the West somewhat distanced itself agreeing with the Russian moderation. And what was the result of Moscow’s solo performance? Alas, the result was no good. Sensing the strengthened shoulder of the foreign patrons, Yerevan swims further into the darkness with the blessing of its intercessors.

At a meeting in the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Lavrov spoke from a high rostrum, saying that “no one should strengthen his security by infringing on the security of others.” Who would argue ?! However, it would be better to clarify whether this principle is selective. Perhaps, the interpretation of the thesis contained the unpublished notes.

When he speaks about the legal bindingness of international declarations, the principle of indivisible security as a factor preventing the unblocking of conflicts, it won’t seem superfluous to say, “Mr. Lavrov, start with yourself, set the trend of persuasiveness to the proclaimed imperatives from the crisis in Karabakh to which you are so are close not only physically … “.

The nature of the underwater northern currents with the roots going to the Smolenskaya square has long been deciphered in Baku. The skirmishers’ mood has been unperturbed until recently, as if everything will further follow on the given routes. However, in addition to Baku’s arguments, Richard Hoagland, the American diplomat, who has been unlawfully ostracized in recent days more by Moscow than Yerevan, has set them a task. Restless Maria Zakharova continues to insist that the co-chair’s proposals are not new. She is echoed by the Armenian leadership. One does not need to be mathematically smart to find the difference in the approaches of Hoagland and Lavrov.

Against the backdrop of the Russian’s plan to release five regions and simultaneously determine the status of Nagorno-Karabakh, the American proposes to transfer to Azerbaijan its legitimate seven regions (without the Lachin corridor) with further discussion of the status of the region.

The differences are obvious, and it is not clear why Lavrov and his talking shadow do not notice the fundamental difference between the two approaches. It is worth recalling the original idea of the same Lavrov on the release of only two districts at the initial stage. Baku rejected the bad initiative from the threshold, since it was again subordinated to the wishes of the aggressor, who does not hurry with the withdrawal of troops from Azerbaijani lands. Baku let the Russian Foreign Minister know that the traditions of the Yerevan bazaar are unacceptable.

The positions of Russia and the United States on Karabakh do not coincide, because the pro-Armenian line has been activated by Lavrov and his surrounding, and it is artificially presented as the position opposing the strengthening of Western influence in the key region of the post-Soviet space. It is noteworthy that this takes place against the backdrop of a mass transfer of the leading forces of the Armenian elite to the rank of pro-Westerners.

If Lavrov maintains the pirouettes of the so-called US counteraction on the platform of harming Baku’s interests, he only undermines the foundations of the Azerbaijani-Russian relations. There can be no doubt that the ecstatic ‘Lavrov-Zakharova’ move will not work. The incitement of anti-Azerbaijani phobias and the artificial inflammation of tension will turn into sins for the designers of the axial deal. It’s time to get rid of the sick temptation after a series of failures.

BAKU: Baku proposes a short way: if Armenia rejects it, it will do harm to itself

In any complex process, obtaining a result requires a horizon of clarity.

In politics, it is especially important, because mutual understanding is achieved with the help of certainty.
Karabakh process is no exception, political expert Tofig Abbasov said in his article published on Vesti.Az. But the more Armenian leaders show openness in public, the larger is the evidence that the psychophysical decline is growing at the top of the neighboring republic. It is unserious to think of a breakthrough at such.

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian does not cease to amaze the public with the skill of rhetoric. But, pouring from empty to empty, he reveals his weaknesses. The lack of creative resources to update the worn clip of stamps is seen with a naked eye. And in general, it is high time to change the boring tape.
As soon as Elmar Mammadyarov urged the aggressor country to launch substantiate negotiations, Nalbandian responded but again in the form of nonsense, which could be pronounced by only a spiritual invalid or master of obstruction.

Lost in the endless ocean of immorality, the Armenian minister could not find anything worthwhile but accuse Azerbaijan of ingratitude using the vulgar language. Being one of the centerpieces of the stubborn team of poseurs, the minister turned the blocking of truth into his favorite case. That’s why he declares that “Azerbaijan is trying to throw dust into the eyes of the international community”.

Once again Baku is categorically and unjustifiably accused by Nalbandian of unwillingness to notice the breakthrough and accumulated use. So, if everything goes on its own, it means that there is no need to blame the lack of progress? In Yerevan’s view, this is exactly how it should be understood, and the imitation of action, when a step is taken forward and two steps back, is the idyll itself.

Pleased with himself, Nalbandian argues his own self-sufficiency with a weighty, as it seems to him, argument, more precisely technical statistics. Recalling that “over the past 10 years, there have been 20 meetings at the level of the presidents of the conflicting parties and 40 meetings at the level of the foreign ministers”, he draws a useful result. So, the effectiveness has been achieved, and this can only be applauded? If everything is so smooth, then it’s time to ask – what was the political process and what is its main result?

One thing is gratifying: the maximum range of empty-handed shots of Armenian diplomacy lies within restricted limits. In serious fields, this kind of “the truth” is not quoted and does not change anything. Why? Because it is designed for a soap effect.

If Nalbandian’s arguments about the rationality of the results of conducted meetings are taken for granted, then what caused the events of April 2016? Did they erupt because Yerevan, hammering down the uncomfortable truth of Baku, was carried away by the undermining of the peace process? Playing with conceit and intentionally constipating the diplomatic round, Yerevan paid for its sins.

Since then, Nalbandyan has repeatedly been saying, “Baku must prove the readiness for a settlement on the basis of recognition of three principles proposed by the mediators: the non-use of force, territorial integrity and the right of peoples to self-determination.” By intentionally putting the cart in front of the horse, Yerevan again comes to the old rake, striking out the acceptable prerequisites. This is not a consequence of error, but there is evidence of inert intentions, designed to cancel the sought-after efforts.

Otherwise, Nalbandian would not be brave with statistics, which compressed in itself a dense set of all sorts of tricks and scams. Even if the number of presidential and ministerial meetings exceeded one hundred or thousand by the Armenian scenario, there would be no transition from quantity to quality. That is why Baku puts the issue on edge about substantive negotiations in order to rid the process of provocative excuses and procrastination.

Azerbaijan has never rejected the principles approved by the mediators, just as it did not avoid objective discussions. A peaceful settlement based on the inviolability of borders represents a golden reality, which the parties should treat with respect. The right to self-determination and strengthening of confidence-building measures are secondary. Disagreeing with the objective sequence of principles, Yerevan therefore violates the cease-fire regime so that to plunge into the jungles of uncertainty in the morning, and then to write off the costs for the competitor.

By shifting the blame on the opposite side, Armenia does not intend to build a coherent line for the improvement of the political process. Its purpose is to distort the general background, cast a shadow over the wattle fence, and then step back from the negotiation cycle with a displeased _expression_ on the face, accusing Azerbaijan of inability to negotiate.

Nalbandian says, “Azerbaijan pulls up a brave front”. Look who is talking. The shameful confusion experienced by the Armenian military-political elite in the venerable April is still being grimaced by horror on the faces of the failed warriors and stumbling diplomats. So, he better be silent about external effects.

The situation is not simple, but not hopeless. It is worth listening to the voice of reason, which was recently pronounced by Azerbaijani Minister Elmar Mammadyarov. Indeed, “it is necessary to shift the negotiation process by withdrawing Armenian troops from the disputed territories.” It won’t go without this. Demilitarization will enable displaced persons to return to their places of permanent residence. And then the issues of security, unblocking of communications, use of the economic factor will influence the recreation of the atmosphere of trust.

Official Baku’s proposal points to a short way. If Armenia refuses it, it will do harm to itself. Nalbandian’s recklessness undoubtedly won’t save his associates. In addition, we should remember that unexpected stresses are often an antidote to acute psychophysical disruptions.

“With such disinformation Armenia’s confusion agents can only deceive their Armenian public.”

Armenian special services confusion agents have recently been engaged in spreading numerous fictional ‘stories’ or ‘documents’ with various content about Azerbaijani army through media outlets. In this respect, in response to News.Az’s appeal, the Defense Ministry reported that they are informed about the next disinformation disseminated by Armenian media.

“We do not want to comment on such a primitive disinformation, a smeary lie that has nothing to do with the reality. With such disinformation Armenia’s confusion agents can only deceive their Armenian public,” the ministry says.

We are on the right path: Serzh Sargsyan addresses message on Knowledge and Schooling Day

Serzh Sargsyan has issued a congratulatory message on the occasion of Knowledge and Schooling Day in the country.

The message runs as follows,

“Dear Teachers, Professors and Parents,

Dear Schoolchildren and Students,

I congratulate you on the occasion of Knowledge Day.

September 1 marks the start of the academic year. From that moment, the whole country begins to live at a new, unique rhythm and pace. This day is especially exciting for those who take their first pace to school and discover the new and fascinating world of knowledge.

Today every family and the whole society are undoubtedly well aware of the importance of knowledge. Yet, I feel it important to highlight the need for holding a serious public debate about the reform of the educational system in Armenia, since times and requirements are constantly changing, and we must always be up-to-date.

Indeed, our pupils’ and students’ achievements in the international arena are inspiring and suggest that we are on the right path, but it is more important for us to raise the overall level of education.

We need such school and university graduates as may be competitive and find their place in life and service. I wish all of us could get new knowledge and become stronger because “knowledge is power.”

ARF Western US to Host Conference on First Armenian Republic

100th Anniversary of Armenian Independence

GLENDALE—To mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the first Republic of Armenia, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Western United States, in collaboration with the Cal State Northridge Armenian Studies Program, has organized a two-day academic conference, “Armenian Statehood Reborn: Achievements and Reflections.” The conference will take place on Saturday, May 5, 2018 and Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Plaza del Sol Hall on the campus of California State University at Northridge.

The ARF-WUS Republic of Armenia 100th Anniversary Steering Committee has assembled an impressive program featuring renowned scholars from across the world. The conference will critically examine new interpretations, paradigms, and narratives about the political, social, economic and cultural factors that shaped the history of the first Armenian Republic.

The ARF-WUS invites the community to take part in this reflection of one of the most pivotal events of modern Armenian history. “The 100th anniversary of the First Republic’s founding presents a significant opportunity for the community to examine those crucial years, while utilizing the different perspectives that have developed over the past hundred years. It is essential now that we mark this occasion by reflecting upon the history of Armenia’s sovereignty in order to understand the challenges of statehood that exists today” said ARF-WUS Chairman Daron Der-Khachadourian.

The conference will feature an in-depth and multifaceted examination of the re-emergence of Armenian statehood in 1918-1920. “We envision the conference as an event that casts a retrospective eye on the far-reaching impact of the First Republic on the Armenian state and the Armenian people. The establishment of the First Republic was truly a momentous occasion. Actualized despite painstaking odds and immense obstacles, this event speaks volumes to the tenacity of the Armenian people and the vision of creating a collective future. The program that the organizing committee has tailored will appeal to scholars and the public alike” said Steering Committee member and University of California, Berkeley History Professor Stephan H. Astourian.

The event will be free and open to the public. Further information about the program and speakers will be presented in the coming months.

Armenia is interested in military MA8 modules

Armenia is interested in military МА8 modules, with which it is planned to equip the “Vikhr” military robot. This was announced by the executive director of “Muromteplovozi” Yevgeny Tretyakov.

Besides Armenia, Belarus, Venezuela and Myanmar are also interested in the weapon.

“Военное.РФ” periodical informs that Russia signed a $300 million contract with foreign partners during the “Army-2017” forum. The “Solncepyok” system, which was tested by the Syrian army, received a lot of attention from them. It was previously acquired by Algeria and used during military exercises in early August.

But nothing appears about signing new contracts with foreign partners.
