/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Representatives of Armenian, Greek, Syrian (Aramean)
and Kurdish communities sent an open letter to U.S. President Barack
Obama, calling on him to recognize the Armenian Genocide and urge
Turkey to return Mor Gabriel Monastery to its real owner, the Aramean
Syrian Orthodox Church.

"We are deeply concerned over Turkey’s attempt to erase Christian
heritage in the country. Arameans, Greeks and Yezids are subjected to
persecution. Turkish nationalism is targeted against all non-Islamic
communities," says the letter obtained by PanARMENIAN.Net.

DUNDEE PRECIOUS METALS ANNOUNCES THE RESTART OF ITS ARMENIAN GOLD-SILVER-COPPER-ZINC OPERATIONS

Fox Business
April 1 2009

TORONTO, ONTARIO, Mar 31, 2009 (Marketwire via COMTEX) —-Dundee
Precious Metals Inc. (TSX:DPM)(TSX:DPM.WT)(TSX:DPM.WT.A) ("DPM" or the
"Company") is pleased to announce the recommencement of operations
at its gold-silver-copper-zinc facility in Kapan, Armenia.

In response to the very positive regulatory and operational advances
made by Deno Gold Mining Company CJSC in the period leading up to
and the five month period (ended March 2009) during which it was on
temporary care and maintenance, DPM has elected to restart operations
at its Armenian facilities.

"The strength of leadership and depth of experience at Deno Gold
have been evident over the last five months and were a contributing
factor in the decision to restart operations", said Jonathan Goodman,
President and CEO.

Advances made by Deno Gold include (i) the finalization of its
agreement with the Armenian government on the extension of its
Shahumyan mine license and other critical aspects of its License
Agreement, (ii) increased mine productivity and associated economies
of scale related to improved mining methodology, (iii) higher ore
grades alongside improved dilution control, (iv) improved metal
recovery rates, and (v) lower unit operating costs (in part, due to
the devaluation of the Armenian Dram).

Mining operations will recommence on April 1, 2009 at an annualized
rate of 360,000 tonnes of ore, with the balance of the facilities
to follow shortly thereafter. At current metal prices, Deno Gold is
still expected to incur a financial loss on its operations however,
the benefits of a restart, including the minimization of losses,
significantly outweigh the costs of maintaining the operation on
temporary care and maintenance.

PRESS RELEASE

An Unprecedented 46 Parliamentarians Join Canada-Armenia Friendship Group

Ottawa -A record number of Canadian House of Commons and Senate members
have joined the newly-reconstituted Canada-Armenia Parliamentary
Friendship Group. During the March 25 Annual General Meeting, Harold
Albrecht (Kitchener-Conestoga, MP) was elected chair of the group.
Nicole Demers (Laval), Reymonde Folco (Laval-les Iles) and Peter Stoffer
(Sackville-Eastern Shore) were elected vice-chairs. Senators Con Di Nino
and Jerahmiel S. Grafstein, both of Ontario, were also elected to the
board.

The friendship group’s past-chair, Hon. Gary Goodyear, welcomed and
thanked the parliamentarians and said: "Members of the group, those from
the Armenian community and all those who contributed to this group’s
success deserve our praise."

Hon. Goodyear emphasized "Armenia needs the help of the outside world to
overcome its difficulties. Facing an unjust blockade by two of its
neighbours, a devastating earthquake in 1988 and a shortage of financial
and technical capital, Armenia has welcomed Canada’s support." He added
that Canada and Armenia are continuing to "pave a road to a peaceful and
prosperous relationship and I look forward to the results."

Hon. Goodyear praised the Armenian National Committee of Canada (ANCC)
and its executive director, Aris Babikian, for the support they provided
him during his three-year tenure as head of the Canadian-Armenian group.

Following his election as chair, Mr. Albrecht thanked his colleagues for
their trust, and for the privilege granted to him as chair of the group.
He said: "Your interest in Canada-Armenia relations will continue to
give rise to a prosperous future that rests on the foundation of an
already peaceful and rewarding friendship. The work we do here is
important to the three million Armenians living in Armenia and to the
over five million in the rest of the world and particularly the 80,000
Canadian-Armenians who live in every province and territory of Canada."

Mr. Albrecht said that he extended "our gratitude for the contributions
of the Armenian people and all Canadians who are of Armenian descent."
He said that he considered "Canadian Parliament’s recognition and Prime
Minister Stephen Harper’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide of 1915
were important milestones in our journey forward. Armenians have
courageously worked to move beyond the pain of the past and work toward
a brighter future."

The new chair concluded his remarks by reassuring that "Canada stands as
a friend with Armenia. As an interparliamentary friendship group, we
have the privilege and duty to work together to build on our
accomplishments."

Following the election of the rest of the board, the new chair invited
Dr. Girair Basmadjian, president of the ANCC, to address the gathering.
After thanking the friendship group and its new board, Dr. Basmadjian
reminded new members that the task of the group has changed drastically
since its formation 24 years ago. "Today many more challenges face
Armenia and the friendship group. Establishing a Canadian embassy in
Armenia, the lingering effects of the devastating 1988 earthquake, the
illegal blockade of Armenia by Turkey and Azerbaijan, the peaceful
resolution of the Nagorno-Karabagh conflict, and Canada-Armenia
bilateral relations are among many issues which will challenge the
group," said the head of ANCC.

Dr. Basmadjian concluded his remarks by wishing the friendship group
success, and pledged ANCC’s support and solidarity. In addition to Dr.
Basmadjian, the annual meeting was attended by Krikor Der Ghazarian,
Paul Douzjian, Roupen Kouyoumjian, Edward Agopian, and Aris babikian,
and board members of ANCC.

The meeting was followed by an ANCC-hosted reception to celebrate the
momentous event. During the reception many of the new members of the
friendship group had the opportunity to get acquainted with ANCC
representatives and with the committee’s 45 years of advocacy. The
parliamentarians also had the opportunity to discuss many of
Canadian-Armenian community’s concerns.

Also attending the gathering was Hagop Evereklian, chief of staff,
Ministry of Immigration, Citizenship and Multiculturalism.

In preparation for the annual general meeting, the ANCC and its
affiliated nation-wide chapters and supporters worked diligently in the
last few months to solicit the participation of the largest number of
parliamentarians possible in the friendship group. On March 11, an ANCC
delegation joined Executive Director Aris Babikian to launch a final
blitz in Ottawa to urge ministers, MPs and Senators to join the
Canadian-Armenian group. During the blitz ANCC members met more than 50
parliamentarians. The ANNC is confident that soon the friendship group’s
membership will reach sixty.

grassroots political organization. Working in coordination with a
network of offices, chapters, and supporters throughout Canada and

Not Bad, But Again Not Good

NOT BAD, BUT AGAIN NOT GOOD

The Armenian national football team failed to win again. Unlike the
previous matches Armenia played in the qualifying competition for the
2010 World Cup, this time the competitor of Armenia was a weaker team –
the national team of Estonia. Everyone is probable to know that the
match on March 28 in "Republic" stadium of Yerevan scored 2:2. In
addition that Armenia evaded the defeat through a very disputable
goal. But, as one of the spectators of the football match said "not
bad"; moreover that the "not bad" idea is becoming a slow but firm
governmental propaganda in Armenia.

For example, in Armenia much advertisement was done in connection with
the movie "Taxi "Not Bad" produced by Sharm Holding. The film is about
Yerevan, but, in fact, it propagates the "not bad" policy. In other
words, "not bad we exit. Why do you complain of everything"? The
soundtrack of the film which is written and performed by the rock
group "Reincarnatsia" (Reincarnation) is being broadcasted by the
radio and TV very often. Live and be happy that it is "not bad",
do not think of wishing more, moreover of your rights and freedom,
of having an opinion, of expressing your opinion, fair elections,
equality of rights, and of other things. "Not bad we live"; In other
words, thank God that you live. The football players, under the newly
shaped influence, "thanked God" that they did not lose but played 2:2-
"not bad".

In this case, it is useless to analyze the Armenia-Estonia match. Of
course, the coach is to blame. Our defeats are the result of his
mistakes first of all, and his very first mistake is probably the
fact that he agreed to head the Armenian national team. The following
mistakes, as it is said, are matter of techniques. And, football
has again been approved to be a matter of thinking. If the thinking
"not bad" is being propagated in the country, so there is no need to
expect something at the football field, because this field is a part
of the state.

Blaming the players or the coach for the football failures means
to escape from the axis problem – thinking. "Not bad" the coaches
and the players exist as they can be blamed for everything. But they
are only consequences of this atmosphere which is being shaped in the
country. And what is being shaped in the country: for example, the head
of the football federation gets involved in a process of redistribution
of property, which is more that the economy, more than politics, which
is in the sphere of dignity and human relations. In this field there
are no spheres, and specialists, professions, professional success but
"only dullness". "But it is not bad" the dullness exists.

EGHISHE METSARENC

P.S. On April 1, the Armenian national football team will again meet
the team of Estonia, this time in Estonia. Is April 1 the reason
or maybe March 28, but I do not believe our team will be able to
win. Although, the victory is not ruled out either, "not bad" nothing
is ruled out.

US LAWMAKERS TOLD LEADERS OF ARMENIA AND TURKEY, THEY ARE READY TO HELP

PanARMENIAN.Net

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ A group of US lawmakers told leaders of Armenia and
Turkey on Monday that they stood ready to help the neighbors as they
strive to end decades of animosity and forge closer diplomatic ties,
AFP reports.

"It is essential that the building blocks of trust and cooperation
are established between Armenia and Turkey to heal open wounds,
mend broken hearts and create a better future for both nations and
peoples," they wrote Armenia President Serzh Sarkisian and Turkish
President Abdullah Gul.

The group, all Democratic allies of US President Barack Obama, included
Representatives Robert Wexler, a member of the House Foreign Affairs
Committee; Ike Skelton, the chairman of the House Armed Service
Committee. It also included Representatives John Murtha, who has
close ties to the Pentagon, and Alcee Hastings, co-chairman of the
Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe.

"As members of Congress who agree that lasting Armenian-Turkish
rapprochement should be a top priority for the United States,
please know we are ready to assist your nations’ efforts to normalize
relations and build a better future for generations of Armenians and
Turks," they wrote.

"This process is difficult and at times painful, but we remain hopeful
that ongoing bilateral engagement will lead to a positive breakthrough
that forever changes the dynamics of the region and opens the door
to new possibilities and brighter futures for Armenia and Turkey,"
they said.

BEIRUT: Tashnag Announces Candidates, Adheres to Doha Agreement

Tashnag Announces Candidates, Adheres to Doha Agreement

The Tashnag party announced Sunday the names of five candidates for
the upcoming legislative elections, paving the way for an Armenian
participation following the 2005 boycott of the polls.

"The party is reaffirming its decision to fully participate in the
elections through candidacy and through voting in all districts, in a
reversal of its 2005 boycott of the polls in Beirut," Tashnag
secretary general Hovig Mekhitarian told a press conference in Burj
Hammoud before naming the contenders.

Among the five candidates, Arthur Nazarian is the only official
Tashnag member and will be running in Beirut’s second district "in
conformity with the Doha agreement," he said.

The rest of the parliamentary hopefuls were identified as: MP George
Qassarji in Zahleh; MP Hagop Pakradounian in the northern Metn; Freij
Saboungian for the Armenian Orthodox seat in Beirut’s first district
in addition to Krikor Calouste for the Armenian Catholic seat in
Beirut’s first district.

"The revival of the Armenian parliamentary bloc serves to breathe life
into what this bloc stand for and into its role in Parliament as an
advocate of moderation and dialogue," Mekhitarian said.

The June 7 elections "must take place in a climate of democracy and
must be free of violence and tension," he stressed.

Mekhitarian said that "fair representation in Parliament" will help
Lebanon confront major challenges such as "development, the fight
against corruption and accountability."

Concluding the conference, he called on all members of parliament to
unite around the state notably "the president of the republic who was
elected by full consensus."
