IT NOT PROPERLY TAUGHT IN ARMENIAN UNIVERSITIES?

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ IT is not properly taught in Armenian universities,
according to Vache Kirakosyan, head of IT department at RA Economy
Ministry.

"Universities should lay the foundation for self-education," he told
a meeting of IT companies’ leaders in Aghveran resort this weekend.

The meeting participants underscored that companies themselves should
initiate qualification courses and establish close cooperation with
universities.

Tout va de mal en pis en Belgique ! Les Diables Rouges ont de nouveau
été battus en qualification pour la Coupe du monde

Quatre jours après avoir abandonné tout espoir de
prendre part l’été prochain à la grand-messe
planétaire, les Diables Rouges ont été battus
à Erevan par la modeste sélection
arménienne. Dépourvus de toute motivation, Mirallas et
ses coéquipiers ont été incapables de produire un
football digne de ce nom. Il n’en fallait pas plus à leurs
opposants du jour pour s’imposer, alors qu’il n’avait obtenu qu’un
seul petit point lors de leur sept premières rencontres dans
ces qualifications.

Le calvaire Belge a commencé à la 23e minute du jeu, lorsque
Goharyan, délaissé de tout marquage, offrait l’ouverture
du score aux siens. Démobilisés, les visiteurs ont
cédé alors commencé à balbutié leur
jeu, au lieu de se rebiffer. L’Arménie en a profité
après la pause pour doubler la mise par l’intermédiaire
de Hovsepyan, le capitaine. Ce dernier s’infiltrait dans la
défense belge avec une facilité déconcertante
avant d’aller battre tranquillement le portier Gillet. La
dernière demi-heure de la rencontre a été sans la
moindre saveur. Le seul mérite de la Belgique aura
été de réduire le score dans les arrêts du
jeu grâce à Daniel Van Buyten. L’ancien marseillais a
sauvé l’honneur pour les siens, mais pas la tête de
Franck Vercauteren. Le sélectionneur a présenté
sa démission quelques minutes seulement après le coup de
sifflet final de la partie.

`We are not vindictive, but we have good memory’

The co-chairs of the `Stability’ group (Kayunutyun) Sargis
Harutyunyan, Ernest Baloyants and Arshaluys Aghayan today met the
journalists.

Arshaluys Aghayan, one of the co-chairs being an emigrant from Iran
presented the viewpoint of the Iranian Armenians about the last
developments of the Armenian ` Turkish relations.

`The Iranian Armenians are for the opening the boarders’, – said
Arshaluys Aghayan and added that deep in his soul and in the `genes of
his community there is the feeling of yearning towards its country,
and emotions are more than the logic’.

The speaker reminded about the role of Iran especially in 1990 when it
supported Armenia.
`During that hard times, when the ways were closed from all the sides,
Iran, during the process of formation of independence, was helping
Armenia’, – mentioned Arshaluys Aghayan and told that at that time the
continental connections between Armenia and Iran were being realized
through a temporary bridge which was made of empty containers which
were knitted one to another by cords.

The speaker realizes that there are extremists in Armenia there are
also such people who woud not like to see the boarder open.

`But the policy of the 21st century requires a new approach’, – said
A. Aghayan.

Sargis Harutyunyan, the other co-chair of the `Satbility’ party,
mentioned that by the Armenian ` Turkish records `We and Turkey do not
establish brotherhoodlike relations. Even after 100 years such
relations can’t exist’.

`We don’t become a brother country to Turkey, we simply want to have
friendly relations in the region’, – said S. harutyunyan and added
that the open boarders are important for trade in any country and
`this is a way to bring more dividends to Armenia’.

Harutyunyan.

Opposition to hold rallies every day

On September 8, 2009, member of the opposition Republic Party’s Board
Artak Zeinalian notified the Yerevan City Hall about opposition’s
meetings in Yerevan City on September 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24.

The City Hall has sanctioned opposition’s five meetings and banned
that of September 21 motivating the denial by another event in the
area on the same day.

Note that the Congress holds another rally on September 18.

Sargsyan received today well-known Brazilian actor, deputy head of the
Rio de Janeiro City Council Stepan Nersissyan who has for the first
time paid a familiarizing visit to his historic homeland – Armenia.

Governmental press service told Armenpress that greeting the guest
Tigran Sargsyan highly underscored his activity in favor of Armenia
and noted that Armenia highlights development of cooperation with
Brazil and Armenian community has a notable role in it.

Stepan Nersissyan expressed conviction that the visit will give him
new impetus for continuing his activity in favor of Armenia.

The interlocutors also referred to the consolidation of
Homeland-Diaspora ties and deepening them, cooperation between Armenia
and Brazil in the spheres of art and culture.

PHOTO EXHIBITION OF ARTHUR MANUCHARYAN OPENS IN YEREVAN

in the "Narekatsi" cultural center today, presenting sites of the
Armenian medieval architectural heritage. "This exhibition is a
result of five years of work. I have decided this time to devote
my exhibition to Armenia. Armenian churches , unknown and almost
destroyed, architectural sights, located in Armenia’s remote areas
are pictured here. The exhibition is aimed at drawing the public
attention to the architectural heritage and promoting its preservation,
" Mr. Manucharyan said.

The exhibition features 36 photos, some of which were published in
the book "Impressions of Armenia" about 8 architectural sights of
the country. The exhibition will be open by September 18.

STRATFOR: NO PROGRESS IN NEGOTIATION PROCESS BETWEEN ARMENIA AND TURKEY IS POSSIBLE WITHOUT SURRENDER OF TERRITORIES TO AZERBAIJAN BY ARMENIA

ArmInfo. The prospects for these negotiations are not very good,
the expert on Eurasia of the American Centre of Strategic Forecasts
STRATFOR Marko Papic told ArmInfo.

According to him, the agreement signed two weeks ago was not for
actual peace negotiations but rather to set a timeline. Turkey has
already demanded that before any concrete negotiations start they
will demand that Armenia removes its military from any held territory.

Papic is pessimistic as regards the prospects of normalization of
relations between Armenia and Turkey in the near future on the basis
of the agreed Protocols ‘On Establishment of Diplomatic Relations’
and ‘On development of Bilateral Relations’.

‘In simple terms, there is no evidence yet that the two sides are
close to normalization, despite the pretty enthusiastic reception to
the agreed Protocols’, the expert emphasized. To note, by saying the
‘held territories’, the expert means the territories of the ‘security
belt’ around Nagorno Karabakh under the NKR control.

AMERIABANK SPENDS 300 MLN AMD ON TECHNICAL RE-EQUIPMENT

ArmInfo. Ameriabank has directed 300 mln AMD to technical re-equipment
of the bank. Ameriabank press-service told ArmInfo that the work in
this direction was launched in October 2008, and most part of the
work has already been completed.

According to the source, the bank has bought new equipment and launched
domestic information network complying with international standards
in the new building of the bank’s head office. The work done gave an
opportunity to the bank to create a reserve center and connect two
server centers with an optic cable, thereby ensuring uninterrupted
and continuous online communication between the head office and
its branches.

The source says the work on technical re-equipment was done under a
project worked out in March 2008. To select deliverers, Ameriabank
announced a tender, and the winning companies ensured the delivery
of about 80 types of up-to-date facilities, including IBM and
Cisco servers, Dell computers. To receive relevant certificates,
Ameriabank specialists were re-trained at IBM, Cisбo, Molex PM and
Microsoft.companies.

IRANIAN GAS TO ENABLE ARMENIA TO JOIN NABUCCO PROJECT

border with Armenia is a good impulse from Baku, Paata Zakareashvili,
Program Director at Center for Development and Cooperation, told a
PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

"If Karabakh conflict is impossible to resolve within coming years,
Armenian-Turkish rapprochement will be a good chance for moving
forward with the process. But if it is in frozen state, there will
hardly be any changes," Georgian expert said.

Not anticipating any breakthrough in Karabakh process, the expert
nonetheless believes in possibility of certain progress. "I think
such dynamics will be first of all related to Turkey. In my opinion,
Ankara is attempting to conduct balanced policy with Yerevan and Baku,"
Zakareashvili noted.

With regard to Nabucco project, expert believes that pipeline’s being
filled with Iranian gas will increase Armenia’s likelihood of joining
the project. "But if pipeline is supplied with Azerbaijani gas,
that will hardly be possible" he added.
