ANKARA: Turkey Expects US To Dismiss Armenian Bill

TURKEY EXPECTS US TO DISMISS ARMENIAN BILL

March 1 2010
Turkey

We have conveyed our concern and sorrow to various U.S. dignitaries,
Turkish Spokesman said.

Spokesman for the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Burak
Ozugergin, said Monday Turkey expected the Foreign Relations Committee
of the United States House of Representatives to reject a resolution
on the incidents of 1915 so that "such a resolution does not hurt
Turkish-U.S. relations and harm efforts to normalize relations between
Turkey and Armenia".

In response to a question, Ozugergin said that Turkey regretted House
Resolution 252 that supported baseless allegations of "genocide"
and that would be discussed by the Committee of the U.S. House of
Representatives on March 4.

We have conveyed our concern and sorrow to various U.S. dignitaries,
Ozugergin noted.

We would like to believe that members of the Foreign Relations
Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives are aware of the
fact that the adoption of such a resolution would be a blow to not
only Turkish-U.S. relations but also efforts to facilitate peace and
stability in the Southern Caucasus, Ozugergin underlined.

We want to believe that members of the Foreign Relations Committee
of the U.S. House of Representatives will act with a sense of
responsibility, Ozugergin also said.

One of the sites supported by the Azerbaijani authorities calls for the
hacking site which had more than 15 thousand visitors
within only 4 days.

Samvel Martirosyan the information security expert mentioned that in
one case the site is being spread by the Armenians, in another the same
things are doing the Azeri; even the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan has
issued a special statement. According to Martirosyan on the first day
when the site was launched on February 24 "it was a bad day", cause the
Azeri, as usual, were busy with organizing their demonstration posters.

The site which is being broadcast in Russian, English, Azerbaijani,
Persian, French, German languages, in Azerbaijan was accepted as an
anti-Armenian site and was advertised widely by them.

"In the odnoklasniki.ru site their was an article spread by the
Azeri as if it is anti-Armenian, and because they do not read and
mainly watch the pictures they have thought that it is anti-Armenian
site, only one of them has read and understood that it is not an
anti-Armenian site", – told the expert.

However when it turned out that the site is not anti-Armenian and it
is discovering and presenting the real facts as well as the Azerbaijani
falsifications even then the comment on it didn’t stop in Azerbaijan.

In the site there are news which proves the
falsifications of the Azerbaijani side about Agdam and "Khojalu".

Armenakan-Ramkavar Liberal Party – "Short-Sighted And Irresponsible

ARMENAKAN-RAMKAVAR LIBERAL PARTY – "SHORT-SIGHTED AND IRRESPONSIBLE OPPOSITION IS GUILTY"

Politics

The Armenakan-Ramkavar Liberal Party has issued the following statement
on the 2nd anniversary of the events of March 1-2, 2008.

On March 1, we will mark on of the most tragic pages of independent
Armenia’s history – the second anniversary of calamitous events
of 2008.

The tragedy revealed that the culture of political struggle in the
RoA has yet to be crafted. During those dreadful days, the sides
engaged in a struggle for power took illegal steps that lead to an
unavoidable confrontation and the deaths of innocent people.

And even though two years have passed, an appropriate evaluation of
the March 1st events has yet to be made. The parties involved still
seek to exploit what happened, hurling a variety of charges against
one another.

The judicial processes and different review bodies that were created
have sadly not been able to fully depict what actually transpired.

Also, those truly guilty have never been identified not brought on
held accountable for their actions in the courts. This resulted in
the fact that many wound up indicted by the judicial system and behind
bars based on purely political considerations.

The Armenakan-Ramkavar Liberal Party hereby declares that the
truly guilty party for the tragic events of March 1, 2008, was the
irresponsible and short-sighted leadership of the opposition, and that
that those responsible was the top echelon of the ruling regime that
neglected the people’s protest and relied on crude force in response.

Given that those truly responsible have never been called to account
the Party demands the immediate release of all those still being
detained on charges related to those events, to respect the memory of
the innocent victims and to halt all manipulations surrounding March
1. At the same time, we demand that convincing guarantees be made
that such violent confrontations never be repeated in our country
that has accepted democracy as its guiding tenet.

They might appear in the court

They might appear in the court

Yesterday, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia issued
a verdict which proves that when investigating the A1+ [private TV]
case in 2008, the civil and administrative house of the Appeal Court
applied an anti-constitutional and illegal clause.

Thus, the verdict of the European Court of Justice [ECJ] came into
effect in September 2008, which says that the 2003 and 2004 verdicts
of the Armenian court have trampled the rights of the channel.

Based on the ECJ verdict, A1+ filed an application at Armenia’s Appeal
Court, demanding that the verdicts be cancelled. Nonetheless, the
Appeal Court refused to cancel the verdict in February 2009 based on
Article 204.2 of the Constitution, which was found anti-Constitutional
back in 2008. This is the case in yesterday’s [23 February] minutes of
the Constitutional Court.

It seems that the head of the Appeal Court, A. Mkrtumyan, the head of
the civil and administrative house of the Appeal Court, S. Sargsyan,
and the nine judges of the house can appear at the criminal court for
issuing an obvious unfair judicial verdict.

Azerbaijan to use Lidice village’s symbol against the Armenians

Azerbaijan to use Lidice village’s symbol against the Armenians

It’s the second time that at the memorial of fascism an event is
being held dedicated to the memory of victims of the so called
`Khojaly massacres" of 1992. The events that have been organized by
the Azerbaijani community in the Zech Republic have passed with
dignity, peacefully and without big interest of the society. The
inhabitants have always waited for tasting the Azerbaijani dishes with
happiness; the memory event is followed by the Azerbaijani
food-tasting.

This year for making the Azeri guest feel happy the representatives of
the village decided to name one of the future streets of Lidice
Khojaly. Even the deputy of the Khojaly governor was to be present at
the ceremony together with the Culture Minister Vatslav Ridelbaukh,
the security of the event was organized by Miloslav Vlchek. But
everything was destroyed because of the Armenian ambassador who went
to the Foreign Ministry of the Zech Republic and the evening turned
into a diplomatic issue.

The thing is that the `Massacres of Khojaly’ that took place during
the war of Nagorno Karabakh are not investigated yet. It was a war
that isn’t ended till now and it threatens to start again. On 1992 the
Armenian troops occupied Khojaly but opened a humanitarian corridor
for the inhabitants. Later on the Azeri stated about 100s of corps
found there. The circumstances are not investigated yet. Each of the
sides insists on his point of view. The Azeri prove their view point
with terrifying photos and the Armenians, for example bring the
statement of the Azerbaijani ex president Mutalibov who in the
`Nezavisimaya Gazeta’ newspaper mentioned that all those things were
done by their own rivals in Azerbaijan. Till now it’s difficult to
find out who should be blamed in the massacres.

After having a meeting with the Armenian ambassador the director of
the memorial Chervencl confessed: `I didn’t have such kind of
suspects’. The mayor told to the Armenian ambassador that in all cases
the food tasting will take place.

The Ministry moovs aside

The Zech Foreign Ministry washed its hands from the event which was
going to break the PM Fisher’s visit to Armenia.
`We do not take part in it: they didn’t discuss with us and even if
they discussed we would advice to be more careful’, – the speaker
Philip Kanda said.

`I would call on the Azerbaijani side to make it an event dedicated to
the memory of the victims without any anti-Armenian activities. I
believe they will understand’, -says Chervencl. But he also promises
that the food tasting however will take place. `We’ll end everything
by the tasting of the Azerbaijani dishes.’

Armenia

Today on the Parliamentary briefing the member of the ARF party Ara
Nranyan summing up the 4 day sitting called it a "rather interesting"
one. According to him "by this way the government will make the NA
sittings more and more interesting, as it will bring drafts which will
serve a cause for many discussions, quarrels, problems and suspects."

Attaching importance to the initiation of making additions in the
international agreements A. Nranyan said: "When on the first day they
were discussing there was no such question and nobody knew about
the 24 day regime. It turned out that the authorities have decided
to accelerate the process because they are not sure that they will
not need the thesis of this agreement till the next 4 day sitting",
– explained A. Nranyan.

On the other hand according to the deputy this circumstance also
gives rise to numerous problems.

"These are processes which in the first period can develop very
quickly and it is strange that we learn about all this things from
foreign sources while the Armenian authorities keep silence."

Hillary Clinton "United States support the acceleration of
Armenia-Turkish process."

The US Secretary of State considers that the adoption of the resolution
on "Armenian genocide" in the Congress may hamper the Armenian-Turkish
rapprochement.

"It would be undesirable if the US Congress adopted any resolution
regarding the Armenian genocide. In period when we all take efforts for
the normalization of the Turkish-Armenian relations, such a resolution
will not do good to this process", said Secretary of State Hillary
Clinton, according to CNN-Turk.

"All our steps and actions should be aimed at normalizing the
Armenian-Turkish ties rather than hampering them. Both I and President
Obama consider that we are for all efforts in normalization of these
relations but against the decisions that can throw these processes
back and harm them", Clinton said.

She noted that the United States support the acceleration of this
process maintaining the constant contact with both countries.
