Jolie has 6 children already. The surname of all of them is Jolie-Pitt
though only three of them are the biological children of Angelina
Jolie and Brad Pitt.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ "Armenia’s and Azerbaijan’s presidents continue
discussing questions in St. Petersburg, which are still unsolved in
the framework of peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict ,
said Azerbaijan’s foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

"Certainly, presidents will discuss any topic, but today I would like
to listen a note of constructiveness from Armenia. Despite development
of a new situation in the region, Armenia, unfortunately started
negatively influencing the peaceful process. While we have achieved
everything in peaceful process with Armenia’s past administration,
we have not achieved anything with current authorities. From the day
of coming to authority of a new person in Armenia sides haven’t budged
an inch," Mammadyarov said, Azeri Trend News reported.

MUSA DAGH PHOTO COLLECTION TO BE PART OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE MUSEUM OF AMERICA

23.05.2009 01:35 GMT+04:00

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Rare and historically significant photographs of
the Armenians of Musa Dagh will be among the Genocide-era images
featured in the Armenian Genocide Museum of America (AGMA), thanks
to the generosity of a private collector who is providing the museum
with exclusive access to the photos.

As PanARMENIAN.Net came to know from AGMA, this unique collection of
black-and-white photographs, dating from 1915 to 1939, is the life’s
work of Dr. Vahram Shemmassian, a Los Angeles-based historian who is
the world’s leading expert on the Armenians of Musa Dagh.

"We are profoundly grateful to Dr. Shemmassian for allowing the museum
to use his priceless photo collection to help tell the heroic story of
the Musa Dagh Armenians against the backdrop of the larger and much
more tragic story of the Armenian Genocide," said Van Z. Krikorian,
AGMA Board Trustee and Building and Operations Committee Chairman.

Krikorian said the Musa Dagh photo collection is the fourth significant
collection of Genocide-era visual materials which, in the past year,
have been made available for use by AGMA. AGMA has been granted access
to the archives of the Near East Foundation and the Armenian Genocide
Museum-Institute in Yerevan, Armenia, and has received a donation of a
privately-held research library containing books, maps, photographs and
other materials focused on the Armenian Genocide and its documentation.

Dr. Shemmassian has also undertaken pioneering research on the fate
of Armenian women and children during and in the aftermath of the
Genocide, another focus area of the museum. Shemmassian, who is
currently Director of the Armenian Studies Program at California
State University, Northridge, said the Armenian Genocide Museum in
Washington, DC is a "perfect match" for his collection.

"The thousands of people resisted and most of them survived, but they
were forced to leave their homes. These photographs document the
trying conditions and difficult challenges that the displaced Musa
Dagh Armenians faced as survivors and refugees," Dr. Shemmassian said.

According to Dr. Rouben Adalian, Director of the museum’s research arm,
the Armenian National Institute, "There are no known photographs of the
actual defense of Musa Dagh, however, the rescue and delivery to safety
in Egypt of over 4,000 survivors made headline news." The Austrian
author Franz Werfel also immortalized the gripping events in his
"Forty Days of Musa Dagh," which became a best-seller upon its release
in 1933 and was subsequently translated into numerous languages.

The AGMA recently received a copy of the Dutch edition of "Forty Days
of Musa Dagh" from a Canadian donor whose family had lived through
World War II. Adalian added, "The book is important supplemental
material to the Musa Dagh photo collection, and points to the
world-wide impact of the story of the resistance of the Armenians of
Musa Dagh."

"Franz Werfel’s book was widely read in Europe and made the Jewish
author unpopular with the Nazi regime, prompting Werfel to flee
Austria in 1938," Adalian said. He noted that according to Professor
Yair Auron of the Open University of Israel, Werfel’s novel was a
source of inspiration and reflection for Jews who were trapped by the
Nazi occupation of Europe. In one historical account, a Holocaust
survivor from the Kovno Ghetto in Lithuania stated: "Our analysis
of the book indicated that if the world did not come to the rescue
of the Armenians, who were Christians after all, how could we, Jews,
expect help? No doubt Hitler knew all about those massacres and the
criminal neglect by the free world, and was convinced that he could
proceed with impunity against the helpless Jews."

Turkey ‘Should Not Link Armenia Thaw To Karabakh’

TURKEY ‘SHOULD NOT LINK ARMENIA THAW TO KARABAKH’

Reuters
May 20 2009
UK

ANKARA, May 21 (Reuters) – Turkey should not link its efforts to
normalise ties with Armenia to a settlement between Armenia and
Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, a French negotiator said on
Wednesday.

Ankara and Yerevan have been engaged for months in high-level talks
aimed at establishing diplomatic relations after a century of hostility
and last month announced a "road map" to reopen their borders.

But after Turkey’s Muslim ally Azerbaijan condemned the
reconciliation moves, Ankara said there would be no progress until
the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was resolved.

Turkey closed its border with Armenia in 1993 in solidarity with
Azerbaijan, which fought a war with ethnic Armenian separatists in
the 1990s over the Caucasus enclave.

Last week, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan promised Azerbaijan’s
President Ilham Aliyev during a visit to Baku that Turkey would not
open the border with Armenia until the "occupation" of Nagorno-Karabakh
ended.

"Normalisation of Turkish-Armenian relations and the settlement of
the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute are two separate processes which should
continue in parallel but along their own paths," the French Embassy
in Ankara said in a statement after a visit earlier this week by
Bernard Fassier, a co-chairman of the Minsk Group.

The Minsk group — set up in 1992 and co-chaired by Russia, the United
States and France — is seeking a solution to Nagorno-Karabakh, one
of the most intractable conflicts arising from the Soviet Union’s
collapse.

A thaw between Turkey and Armenia, who trace their dispute to the mass
killing of Christian Armenians by Ottoman Turks during World War One,
would shore up stability in the Caucasus and boost Turkey’s drive to
join the European Union.

U.S. President Barack Obama has urged Ankara and Yerevan to reach a
solution soon, but Turkey has been careful not to harm energy projects
with Azerbaijan.

The two countries, which share linguistic and cultural ties, are in
talks to sign energy deals, including the purchase of Azeri gas which
could be used for the planned Nabucco pipeline to transport Caspian gas
to Europe. (Writing by Ibon Villelabeitia; Editing by Janet Lawrence)

Baku will discuss Karabakh status after removal of Armenian troops,
Azeris return

BAKU May 15

The legal status of Nagorno-Karabakh could be discussed only after the
Armenian side fulfils certain terms, Azeri Foreign Ministry spokesman
Elhan Polukhov said.

"Only after the Armenian side removes its troops from Azerbaijan’s
occupied territory and creates conditions for the return of refugees
and displaced persons, who could co-exist with the Armenian community
of Nagorno-Karabakh, will the Azeri side move to the next stage – the
discussion of the legal status of Nagorno-Karabakh," Polukhov told
Interfax on Thursday.

"Thus far, the Armenian leadership’s position is a demonstration of a
destructive approach and political rhetoric, which does not benefit
the process," the spokesman said.
