Cracks are being observed in the territories trough Azerbaijan’s Salyan and
Hajigabul regions through which in the area of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline
passes.

The statement came from the executive chief of the Institute of Geology
Department of geodynamics and seismology under Azerbaijan National Academy
of Science (ANAS) Gulam Babayev, APA reports.

According to him, wide radiometric, gravimetric, GPS researches and seismic
monitoring are being conducted in the area. But deep seismic researches and
deep seismic probation should be conducted for the detailed research of
ongoing process: `I will not elaborate the issue. The results of the
researches can be announced only after BP Company approves the fact. I
should say that we have very interesting results. According to preliminary
results, I can say that the current information differs from priors. It is
new information.’

Babayev said that there are potential dangerous quake grounds through the
Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline’s territory: `We have composed quake
catalogues on it. Even the catalogue of mud volcanoes is being composed,
because there are many volcanoes in Absheron peninsula. We also think that
mud volcanoes in Sangachal can impact to this area. Wide researches are
being conducted on it.’

condamné Ramil Safarov – a diffusé une désinformation enfantine. [Nota

Culture: 1st Korean-Armenian Cultural Festival Comes To La Crescenta

1ST KOREAN-ARMENIAN CULTURAL FESTIVAL COMES TO LA CRESCENTA
By Ruxandra Guidi

89.3 KPCC
Sept 14 2012
CA

Festival organizer Arick Gevorkian says some of his neighbors doubted
that a small local event focused on Asian and European immigrants
would take off.

“Why not?” he asks. “Why not down the road Armenian and Mexican and
Korean? Why not Armenian and Mexican and Korean and Irish?”

Gevorkian is Armenian – born and raised in Iran, and educated in
England. He moved to the United States in 1981, and got his small
business off the ground with the help of other Armenian neighbors.

Now, he says, the festival has become an incubator for other
immigrant-owned small businesses that will be selling their prepared
foods, crafts and other wares this weekend.

“For our kids that go to local public schools, or the community that
shops at the local grocery stores, they understand that the Koreans
and Armenians, yeah, they might speak differently, they might eat
differently,” explains Gevorkian. “But we have to bring harmony to
the neighborhood in order for us to be able to truly to call our
neighborhood our home.”

The festival takes place both days this weekend from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The offerings include Korean Pop music, or K-Pop, Armenian church
choirs, Armenian shish kebob and Korean barbecue stands.

Armenia Doesn’t Have And Has Never Had Any Ties With Terrorism, Artu

ARMENIA DOESN’T HAVE AND HAS NEVER HAD ANY TIES WITH TERRORISM, ARTUR BAGHDASARYAN SAYS

Mediamax
Sept 14 2012
Armenia

Yerevan/Mediamax/. Secretary of National Security Council of Armenia
Artur Baghdasaryan said today that “Armenia doesn’t have and has
never had any ties with terrorism”.

Commenting on the publications according to which Armenia was on
the list of top 7 countries most dangerous to the U.S. in terms of
terrorist attacks, Artur Baghdasaryan noted that Armenia undertakes
great efforts to ensure security of the country from the threat
of terrorism. He stressed that this registered in a number of
international documents.

“Latest annual reports of the NATO and EU noted that Armenia registered
considerable progress in combating terrorism and cyber terrorism”,
said Artur Baghdasaryan adding that there is nothing to worry about.

Azerbaijan And Armenian Tensions Keep On Growing

AZERBAIJAN AND ARMENIAN TENSIONS KEEP ON GROWING

Toonari Post – A News Mash Up! Florida
Sept 13 2012

The Toonari Post – News, Powered by the People!

Baku, Azerbaijan – Azerbaijani authorities are growing concerned over
the increasing condemnation and hostility in the wake of the release
of Ramil Safarov. Following speculation that the Armenian government
is considering putting a $500,000 bounty on the head of the army
officer, people gathered in the capital of Yerevan calling for the
“opening of a hunting season for Safarov.” Buses were covered with
bulls eye images portraying Safarov as a target and photos of him
were burned by activists.

“We are seriously concerned about these violent reactions in Armenia,
condemning a fully legal extradition and subsequent amnesty,” said
Azerbaijani MP Elkhan Suleymanov, Vice President of the Euronest
Parliamentary Assembly. “Now they are calling for revenge in ways
that are absolutely outside of international legality,” he added.

“Playing a dangerous blame game is likely to create even more national
heroes and enemies and will hardly contribute to people and stability
in the Caucasus.”

Safarov was convicted of murdering an Armenian soldier during a NATO
training course in Budapest in 2004, claiming that he spat on the
Azerbaijani flag and humiliated him. Hungary extradited Safarov to
Azerbaijan after serving years of time in prison, and his subsequent
release drew attention again to the lingering Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict, where the illegal Armenian occupation has been condemned
by the UN.

“The Safarov controversy risks undermining Yerevan’s responsibilities
in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and justifying the illegal Armenian
occupation of about 20 per cent of our country,” Suleymanov said,
further stressing that four United Nations resolutions calling for
Armenia’simmediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal from the
occupied territories have not been enforced. Analogous resolutions
have been approved by PACE, OSCE and the European Parliament.

Safarov’s case has drawn similarities with Varoujan Grabedian’s
extradition to Armenia in 2001. A member of the terrorist organisation
ASALA, Grabedian was convicted for a bombing which killed eight
people at Orly Airport in Paris, France. Although he was sentenced to
life imprisonment, appeals from the Armenian government culminated
in his extradition to Armenia, despite the fact that Grabedian is
not an Armenian citizen but a Syrian. In Yerevan, he was hailed a
national hero.

“Killings by Armenian snipers along the cease-fire line alone,
accounted for 1,250 civilian deaths and 1,300 wounded over the last
20 years,” said Sulemanov. He added that children have been targeted
repeatedly through explosive toys, elderly visiting the graves of their
relatives were shot and numerous explosions have killed civilians in
buses, trains, ferries and open places.

“The international community should help to stop the continuous breach
of the cease-fire to prevent the recurrence of civilian casualties,”
Suleymanov said.

Safarov Case/The European Parliament Condemns Azerbaijan

SAFAROV CASE/THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT CONDEMNS AZERBAIJAN

European Armenian Federation For Justice & Democracy
Sept 14 2012

Strasbourg (France) – The European Parliament, gathered in plenary
session, adopted on Thursday, September 13, 2012 by 58 votes
against 13 and 5 abstentions, an urgent resolution which condemns the
glorification granted by Azerbaijan to Ramil Safarov, the Azerbaijani
officer who assassinated lieutenant Gurken Markarian, an officer of
the Armenian army, during a Partnership for Peace organized by NATO
in Budapest in 2004.

In its urgent resolution, the European Parliament “deplores the
hero’s welcome accorded to Mr Safarov in Azerbaijan and the decision
to promote him to the rank of major and pay him eight years’ back
salary upon his arrival, and is concerned about the example this
sets for future generations and about the promotion and recognition
he has received from the Azerbaijani state”.

The text reflects the atmosphere of the debate which preceded the
vote, during which several European Members of Parliament, such
as Mrs. Veronique de Keyser “group of the Progressive Alliance of
Socialists and Democrats – Belgium), Mr. Charles Tannock (European
Conservatives and Reformists – Great Britain), Mrs. Lunacek (group
of the Greens – Austria) or Mrs. Vergiat (Confederal group of the
European Unified Left – France) expressed their shock as for the grace
granted to the murderer by Azerbaijan, and qualified this attitude
of “scandalous”. Mr. Paska (Europe of Freedom and Democracy group –
Slovakia) even compared the Aliev regime to the Mafia.

Moreover, the Parliament “considers that, while the presidential pardon
granted to Mr Safarov complies with the letter of the Convention on
the Transfer of Sentenced Persons, it runs contrary to the spirit
of that international agreement, which was negotiated to allow
the transfer of a person convicted on the territory of one state
to serve the remainder of his or her sentence on the territory of
another state”, and “considers the presidential pardon granted to
Mr Safarov as a violation of the diplomatic assurances given to the
Hungarian authorities”.

The European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy welcomes
the European Parliament’s firm position with regard to Azerbaijan.

Contrary to the group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE),
the Parliament did not bend vis-a-vis the pressures of a State which
buys an image with its oil and gas.

“This astounding case raises, once again, alarming questions about
the values, violence and the hatred which Azerbaijan inculcates to
its citizens. It also announces the lack of respect of Azerbaijan
regarding conventions and international treaties”, declared Mr.

Karampetian, President of the European Armenian Federation.

In addition, the European Parliament took into account all the aspects
of this case, and adopted a special paragraph which “reiterates its
position that the association agreement currently being negotiated
between the EU and Azerbaijan should include clauses and benchmarks
relating to the protection and promotion of human rights and the rule
of law”.

Las Vegas’ St. Garabed Church Receives Grant From Dream Fund

LAS VEGAS’ ST. GARABED CHURCH RECEIVES GRANT FROM DREAM FUND

ASBAREZ
Friday, September 14th, 2012

The Las Vegas St. Garabed church under construction

LA CRESCENTA-Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, the
Executive Council, and St. Garabed Church Pastor and Parish Council
announced that St. Garabed Church and Cultural Center of Las Vegas
has received a generous grant from the Dream Fund at UCLA, created
by The Lincy Foundation.

The grant will be allocated for a number of projects the Church will
undertake in the near future which address the needs of the growing
Armenian community of Las Vegas.

Pastor Archpriest Fr. Avedis Torossian and the Parish Council aim
to make the St. Garabed Cultural Center facility easily accessible
to children and young adults, providing them with the opportunity to
enhance their knowledge of Armenian language, history, and culture.

Also in the works are programs geared towards seniors and the elderly,
which would allow them the transportation means to visit St. Garabed
center and spend time with fellow Armenians in a home environment.

Thus, the plan is to have an Armenian language and history learning
center equipped with interactive and modern state of the art learning
tools, as well as a modern library equipped with Armenian books,
newspapers and magazines both from national and international sources.

Parish Council Chair Adroushan Armenian reports that “in addition to
this special allocation from the Dream Fund at UCLA, we have a unique
opportunity to raise additional funds to fulfill our obligations for
completing our church building, community center, and future expansion
plans with a matching grant from the Dream Fund at UCLA. However,
the time is short for this matching grant; the challenge starts
immediately and will end in early 2013. Please support the Las Vegas
community with your donations and help raise the required funds to
complete this project. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for
the Armenian community in Las Vegas to fulfill our dream and the
dream of future generations.”

The Prelate, Executive Council, and St. Garabed Church Pastor and
Parish Council expressed their gratitude to the Dream Fund for their
generous grant which will certainly be of great assistance to the
realization of this endeavor.

Thousands Of Angry Muslims Burn U.S. Flags In India

THOUSANDS OF ANGRY MUSLIMS BURN U.S. FLAGS IN INDIA

PanARMENIAN.Net
September 14, 2012 – 17:26 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – Thousands of angry Kashmiri Muslims protested Friday,
Sept 14, against an anti-Islam film, burning U.S. flags and calling
President Obama a “terrorist,” while the top government cleric here
reportedly demanded Americans leave the volatile Indian-controlled
region immediately, AP reports.

At least 15,000 people took part in more than two dozen protests across
Kashmir, chanting “Down with America” and “Down with Israel” in some
of the largest anti-American demonstrations against the film in Asia.

The low-budget film Innocence of Muslims produced by a filmmaker in
the United States ridicules Islam and depicts the Prophet Mohammed
as a fraud, a womanizer and a madman. American and Middle Eastern
leaders have denounced the film and condemned acts of violence. In
Libya, the American ambassador and three other staff members were
killed when the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was attacked.

Authorities in Indian-controlled Kashmir have asked the Indian
government to block online clips from the film, the region’s top
police official Ashok Prasad said Friday.

U.S. and Israeli flags were burned at many of the protests across
the Muslim-majority region. Hundreds of lawyers in the main city of
Srinagar stopped work and marched out of court and into the streets
in protest. One protester held a poster with Obama’s picture and the
words “real terrorist.”

“The U.S. citizens visiting Kashmir should leave immediately as the
sentiments of the Muslims have been hurt by these pictures,” Mufti
Bashiruddin Ahmad, Kashmir’s state-appointed cleric, was quoted as
telling the Kashmir Reader, an English daily.

In response to the statement, U.S. Embassy officials sent out a
message reiterating its call for citizens to stay away from Kashmir,
a volatile territory where many oppose India’s rule. Police said they
were investigating the cleric’s statement.

U.S. Congressman Introduces Resolution On Iranian Azeris’ Self-Deter

U.S. CONGRESSMAN INTRODUCES RESOLUTION ON IRANIAN AZERIS’ SELF-DETERMINATION

PanARMENIAN.Net
September 14, 2012 – 17:36 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – U.S. Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) has
introduced a House Concurrent Resolution that states the “Azeri
people, currently divided between Azerbaijan and Iran, have the
right to self-determination and to their own sovereign country,
if they so choose.”

“The Azeri people have an innate right to choose their own political
structure and to choose their country,” said Rohrabacher. “It is not
up to bureaucrats in Washington or the mullah dictatorship in Iran.

The ethnic Azeri’s in Azerbaijan enjoy sovereignty and independence;
there is no reason why the Azeri population in Iran should not be
able to make that same choice. This principle holds true for all the
people who live in Iran.”

Rep. Rohrabacher wrote to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
previously that “the Azeri homeland was split between Imperial
Russia and the Persian Empire in 1828 without the consent of the
Azeri people.” Inspired by political discussions currently ongoing
within Azerbaijan’s Parliament, Rep. Rohrabacher stated that,

“My resolution puts the US on the side of the Azeri people and with
the people within Iran,” said Rohrabacher. “If the people on the
ground don’t want to be ruled by the mullah dictatorship in Iran,
then we should support their right to determine their future through
a referendum. It is disconcerting to me that the State Department
and Tehran agree that the people of Iran should be forced to live
within the borders and under the same jurisdiction no matter how the
majority of the Azeris believe. I am calling on the government of
Iran to provide its Azeri population with a referendum to determine
their own future state.”

Rep. Rohrabacher is Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee
on Oversight and Investigations.
