AMMAN. – Members of the Armenian delegation ended the tour in Jordan,
stating they will be back again but this time with their families for
a private visit, Jordanian news agency Petra reports. `I visit Jordan
for the second time but this is my first visit to the place of
baptism,’ Armenian deputy FM Sergey Manasaryan said adding it is
difficult for him to describe what he feels when being in that
spiritual place. `I will try to come back again with my family.’
According to him, it is very important that young Armenians know more
about roots of Christianity, while the religious place is an ideal
site for that goal. Besides, the Armenians know that Jordan is a
sacred land for the Christians, however, touristic flows between Amman
and Yerevan are still on low level.

Swedish MPs send letter to Hungarian Embassy in Stockholm re Safarov

Swedish MPs send letter to Hungarian Embassy in Stockholm on Safarov case

Swedish MPs join the international condemnation of the glorification
of Azeri axe-murderer Ramil Safarov’s crime. An official letter signed
by MPs of different political parties in the Swedish Parliament, the
Riksdag, has been sent to the Hungarian Ambassador in Sweden, Mr.
Gabor Szentivanyi. The letter reads as follows:

`H.E Ambassador Gabor Szentivanyi

Embassy of Hungary in Sweden

Honourable Ambassador,

It has come to our knowledge that the President of Azerbaijan has
pardoned Ramil Safarov following his extradition from Hungary. We will
join the international condemnation of the glorification of the
terrible crime which Mr Safarov has committed and we are deeply
concerned by the consequences that the action will have on the
relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The conduct of Baku has been condemned by several international
instances, among others UN Secretary General, EU President, the
President of the European Parliament, the Chairman of the Council of
Europe as well as the governments of the permanent chairmen of the
OSCE Minsk Group, denouncing it as incompatible with the ongoing peace
process.

Mr. Ambassador, we as Member of the Parliament of Sweden wish to find
out how Your Government, a member of the European Union, will now
react to this breach of rules and agreements and demand Baku to honour
international laws according to which the extradition was performed.
News media and Hungarian opposition claim that Azeri financial
assurances to the Hungarian Government played a crucial role in the
extradition which has now harmed the peace process conducted by OSCE
Minsk Group. We hope that the Hungarian Government can clarify this
issue in a proper manner.

At the same time we hope that Your Government will take decisive
measures for reprimanding Baku for their breach of international laws,
endangering the fragile peace process of Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as
for having dishonored the agreement made between the Justice
Departments of respective country.

We look forward to Your response and views on the subject.’

USA tries to play Azerbaijani card to destabilize Iran

Expert in Iran: USA tries to play Azerbaijani card to destabilize Iran

ARMINFO
Wednesday, September 19, 16:16

Washington decided to play Azerbaijani card to destabilize Iran for
it is well aware of the high risks of a military attack on that
country. Earlier U.S. Congressman Dane Rorabaher has introduced a
legislative initiative to the House of Representatives (H. CON. RES.
137) on his return from Azerbaijan, which pursues that very goal,
Vardan Voskanyan, an expert in Iran, told media in Yerevan, Wednesday.

The draft resolution says “the Azerbaijani people is divided between
Azerbaijan and Iran and have the right to self-determination and to
their own sovereign country if they so choose.” The expert believes
that the given document contains many wrong theses and is, actually,
another provocation of the West against Iran.

“The point is that there is no Azerbaijani people in Iran as such.
Those are Turkic-language Iranians who, by the way, behave to the
Caucasian Tatars – residents of the current Republic of Azerbaijan
extremely disparagingly. They have never identified themselves with
the population of today’s Azerbaijan, I think that all the attempts to
conduct the referendum suggested by the congressman are doomed to
failure and aim to destabilize the domestic political situation in
Iran by means of the ethnic factor,” the expert said.

Voskanyan said that Turkey with the support of Washington tries to
oust the Iranian factor from Azerbaijan fostering suppressions of
Talishes – autochthonous Persian-speaking population of Azerbaijan.

“In this light, it is noteworthy that an official Consulate of Turkey
has been opened in Lankaran, an actual capital of Talishstan. Never
before there was a Turkish element in the territories populated by
Talishes,” Voskanyan said.
