Baku: Azerbaijan Capable Of Hitting Armenian Missiles – Spokesman

AZERBAIJAN CAPABLE OF HITTING ARMENIAN MISSILES – SPOKESMAN

Turan news agency
Oct 30 2012
Azerbaijan

Baku, 30 October: Azerbaijan’s air defence system is capable of
discovering and rendering harmless any missile launched by Armenia,
the head of the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry press service, Eldar
Sabiroglu, has said at a news conference in Tartar [District in
western Azerbaijan].

He said that Azerbaijan’s radars could discover launched missiles
at the moment of launch and render them harmless. Moreover, the
Azerbaijani army can hit any target on Armenian territory within one
to two minutes, he said.

Sabiroglu added that Azerbaijan had deployed on the line of contact
state-of-the-art armament and noted the high combat readiness of the
Azerbaijani army for the task of liberating occupied territories.

He said that the Azerbaijani army possessed the most up-to-date
armament capable of hitting enemy targets “at any distance and at
any place”.

Sabiroglu also spoke about the high combat morale of the Azerbaijani
army. The Azerbaijani army lost 12 people in 10 months of this year,
while the enemy lost 32 fighters.

The cease-fire regime is often violated in Fuzuli, Agdam and Tartar
districts. June was the most tense period this year.

Speaking about professional competence of Azerbaijani servicemen, he
talked about the service of Azerbaijani officers at NATO headquarters.

Thus, navy officers will be attached to headquarters of navy forces
in the British city of Norfolk.

Today’s statements by Sabiroglu can be regarded as a response to
statements by Armenian officers and generals, who in recent weeks
threatened to destroy the oil and gas infrastructure in Azerbaijan
if hostilities resumed.
