Azerbaijani and Armenian communities belonging to Nagorno Karabakh will
discuss a form of further cohabitation, Azerbaijani community of the
region public union board member, MP Rovshan Rzayev told media today.

He said work is underway to arrange a meeting between the Azerbaijani
and Armenian communities of Nagorno-Karabakh.

“The date of the meeting has not yet been determined,” he said. “A
meeting will be devoted to the restoration of the lost relations
and trust between the communities, as well as the form of further
joint discussions.”

He stressed that Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan is not interested
in holding this meeting.

Regarding the venue and format of the meeting, Rzayev said that the
Azerbaijani side is ready to meet at any place and format.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988
when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian
armed forces have occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijan since 1992,
including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The
co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group – Russia, France and the U.S. are
currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council’s four
resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the
surrounding regions.

Ankara: From ‘Alleged Kurdish Problem’ To ‘Qandil Gang,’ The Mhp Con

FROM ‘ALLEGED KURDISH PROBLEM’ TO ‘QANDIL GANG,’ THE MHP CONVENTION

Commentary by Oral Calislar

[Translated from Turkish]

This is my first MHP [Nationalist Action Party] Convention. I am
really curious. Bahceli was speaking when I entered the hall. During
his speech at the convention the MHP Chairman voiced criticism of the
AKP [Justice and Development Party] and said, “Let them place hope
in the Qandil gang.” In one respect, that summed up his entire speech.

In the past the MHP was the active militant in the “fight against
communism.” Today it is opting to continue its “career” as the militant
opposing a solution to the “so-called Kurd problem.”

Bahceli repeated the phrase “so-called Kurd problem” many times during
his speech and has diversified his glossary after the “so-called
Armenian Genocide.”

The speeches by the three party chairmanship runners confirmed this
analysis: The MHP leadership continues to act as the representative
of a language and politics that are far removed from Turkey and its
new shell; far removed from Turkey’s new axis.

The traditional idealist or ultranationalist movement used to derive
its power from central and eastern Anatolia’s conservative masses.

That conservatism was tough. A new bourgeoisie began coming onto the
scene in recent years. This bourgeoisie is conservative like in the
past and nationalist on occasion, but given its class it has forsaken
the hard-line nationalism of the past.

The MHP’s central core did not pay too much attention to this
transformation. It did not (it failed to) develop new policies in
line with change and allowed the AKP [Justice and Development Party],
which represented a more moderate form of conservatism, to snatch
its potential in the inner regions. Spreading out towards the coastal
towns, where the “concerned modern” masses lived, the MHP is continuing
to use a language that comes close to that used by the groups it used
to clash with in the past. When asked, “What makes you different from
them?” they reply, “They are not pious.”

When you look at the image of the delegates and the supporters in
the hall at yesterday’s party convention you could see this: That
classic “villager provincial type” has largely changed. There was a
more urban feel in the hall. This situation in one respect symbolizes
“the journey from central and eastern Anatolia to the coastal areas.”

One of the characteristics of Bahceli’s style of speaking is his
“defensive tone” in combating criticism from the other parties.

Sentences of the kind “they call us anti-solution” and “they claim we
do not want the guns to fall silent” are by way of reply to criticism
from the AKP. Saying, “They call our party the spare tire” Bahceli
was striving to spread his “defensive line” into broader fields.

His expression, “There is no desperation in nationalism” was like an
admission of desperation. Bahceli gave the impression that he was
aware of his supporters’ mood in the face of a government that has
been in power for 10 years and is still strong.

One aspect of his speech that is worthy analysing was the way he did
not touch on two current topics:

1. The hunger strikes.

2. Parliamentary immunities.

Even though the immunities topic is likely to be raised in Parliament
soon he did not touch on the plight of the BDP deputies. The fact
that foreign policy was also ignored is a choice that needs to be
debated separately.

Listening to Bahceli’s worn-out sentences I came up with this fiction:
Bahceli could have said in a way that would have surprised us all, “We
shall fix the Kurd problem; we have just such a plan to fix it.” Many
problems that cannot be fixed and that lead to polarization can be
fixed when the problem’s toughest parties participate. It should at
least be possible to imagine that the MHP as “the toughest loop in
the stalemate knot” can make a surprise.

Why should those who can remember Alparslan Turkes’s bids in making
first contact with Armenia not have similar expectations of Bahceli
right now?

Succession Capital Alliance’S Movsesian Named Man Of The Year By Big

SUCCESSION CAPITAL ALLIANCE’S MOVSESIAN NAMED MAN OF THE YEAR BY BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF ORANGE COUNTY

PR Newswire
November 13, 2012 Tuesday 5:00 AM EST

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County named Julian Movsesian ,
president of Succession Capital Alliance , a firm specializing in life
insurance strategies for high net worth individuals, its highest honor
– Man of The Year – at its 48th annual gourmet dinner. Movsesian, born
in Cairo, Egypt of Armenian descent, convinced his parents at age 17 to
let him move to Southern California, where he lived with guardians, put
himself through high school and flipped burgers at a local McDonalds
to earn his keep. Now, more than three decades later, he is one of
the most influential individuals in the insurance industry.

Movsesian says it’s only because of this success that it’s possible
for him to give back to the community.

“I take nothing for granted and success wasn’t handed to me,”
explains Movsesian. “My struggle to succeed is due to hard work,
maintaining professional integrity and a desire to help others,
especially children. It takes determination and a family that supports
my goals and encourages me. I wouldn’t be where I am if I didn’t
have a good wife, and I would never be able to give back if I hadn’t
worked so hard to get to where I am. I give back so that others will
have opportunities to do the same.”

Movsesian’s fierce desire to be independent and serve his clients
has enabled him to reach business goals and a level of success that
fuels the American dream.

“His ascent to the top of the mountain is a remarkable success story
that can only happen here in America,” said Jeff Verdon , managing
partner of the Jeffrey M. Verdon Law Group. “He is considered one of
the top in his field.”

After being fired from McDonald’s for eating left over burgers that
were being thrown out, Movsesian worked at Sambo’s Restaurant, where
he quickly rose through the management ranks before being recruited
to the life insurance industry. The insurance industry proved to be
tedious, hard work that drove Movsesian’s passion for excellence and
perseverance. Instead of staying in Southern California where the
competition was tight, every week he traveled to Central California.

He quickly learned that he could sell more policies in that region
while staying at a Motel 6. Within his first year selling insurance,
he was named Rookie of the Year.

He eventually came back to Los Angeles where he built a successful
insurance practice working with affluent families and business owners
in Beverly Hills. During that time he was approached by a client
asking for a $40 million policy with financing, much the way a real
estate deal is financed. This had never been done before, so Julian
seized the opportunity and created a premium financing program called
Capital Maximization Strategy (CMS), which was introduced in 1996. It
has been recognized by the insurance industry as the foundation from
which all premium financing programs have evolved. CMS continues
to be the largest, longest running, most reputable and respected
life insurance premium financing program in the industry. It has
benefitted large corporations, as well as affluent families and
individuals nationwide. Currently, Movsesian limits the number of
life insurance companies that can use his strategy and has licensed
it to only 10 top tier life insurance companies.

“Julian has brought a whole new type of practice to the industry and he
has been a trendsetter,” said Michael Bell , executive vice president,
Pacific Life.

In 2004, a Fortune 10 company approached Movsesian and suggested they
form a partnership which became Succession Capital Alliance. Six years
later, Movsesian bought his partner out for 100 percent ownership
and control of the company.

>>From a young immigrant with only $200 to his name, to an executive
who has changed the life insurance industry, Movsesian is an
American Success story. His program, CMS, has helped insurance
agents and advisors nationwide to place more than $28 billion of
life insurance protection with a financed premium portfolio that
exceeds $2.7 billion. Movsesian also is a respected community leader,
philanthropist, husband and father. In addition to being named Man of
The Year by Big Brothers Big Sisters, Movsesian is a past winner of the
prestigious Preston Hotchkis Distinguished Achievement Award, Pacific
Life’s highest honor for independent life insurance professionals.

Gulbenkian Foundation Reaches Out To Aleppo Armenians

GULBENKIAN FOUNDATION REACHES OUT TO ALEPPO ARMENIANS
By Hagop Vartivarian

NEW YORK – At a recent Board of Directors meeting, in New York,
Edward Gulbenkian Jr., the president of the Gullabi Gulbenkian
Foundation, announced that the maternity hospital in Aleppo, which
had been established by his family, will temporarily be used to help
the Armenian seniors of Aleppo.

Gulbenkian also made the following announcement on October 19:”For
decades, the Gullabi Gulbenkian Foundation, established in New York,
in general has supported the educational needs of Syrian Armenians
and especially the medical and health-related needs of the Aleppo
Armenians. The Verjin Gulbenkian Maternity of Nor Kyugh turned out to
be a blessing for the survivors of the Armenian Genocide, which kept
its doors open until recently, when because of the civil unrest in
Syria and the need of administrative reorganization, it was forced
to shut down its doors temporarily. But especially, because of the
ongoing fighting which now has reached to the Armenian sections of
Aleppo, and to give a safe refuge to the residence of the Armenian
Old Age Home, we kept the doors of our maternity hospital [open.]”

“In this way, the Gullabi Gulbenkian Foundation commits to reach out to
our elderly Aleppo Armenians and joins its efforts to the pan-Armenian
efforts, which are coming from Armenia and from each corner of the
Armenian Diaspora, to help our Syrian Armenian community. It is our
prayer that the interior political crisis end soon and the country
once again finds its peace and the Syrian Armenians return to their
exemplary glorious past, so that we in our turn, continue our mission
by reopening the maternity hospital for our expecting mothers.”

Gulbenkian noted that henceforth, the director of the maternity
hospital will be Hovhanes Hovhanessian, from Aleppo.

Gullabi Gulbenkian, being impacted by the loss of his daughter during
childbirth, decided to establish the Verjin Gulbenkian Maternity
Hospital in 1935 to help other Armenian families avoid similar
suffering and loss. He also established two schools in Syria to meet
the demands of the Armenian community there.

The Struggle For Self-Determination Of The Catalonian People Enters

THE STRUGGLE FOR SELF-DETERMINATION OF THE CATALONIAN PEOPLE ENTERS A NEW STAGE: THE INTERVIEW WITH JUAN MERELO-BARBERA

17:30, 14 November, 2012

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS. The upcoming election in Catalonia
on November 25 can become a unique precursor of the independence
referendum of Catalonia. “Armenpress” had a conversation with the
member of the International Union of Criminal Lawyers, the lecturer of
the Philosophy of Jurisprudence in the Barcelona University Professor
Juan Merelo-Barbera.

– Recently one can hear conversations about the 2014 referendum for
the self-determination of Catalonia very frequently. Why 2014 and
not this year or 2013 for instance?

– Two nationalistic parties – Esquerra Republicana and Convergencia
y Union have made this decision. 2014 is the year of the 300th
anniversary of the defeat of Barcelona in the combat for the Spanish
heritage. September 11 is the national Holliday of Catalonia. It is
a nonworking day. This year the holiday has been celebrated in the
atmosphere of mass protests, the people introduced the claim for
freedom. In that very day the suggestion of referendum has been made.

Notwithstanding, the final dates have not been clarified yet.

– After the country of the Basks it was Catalonia to recognize the
Armenian Genocide. Most of us are interested why Spain does not want
to join those countries recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

– Spain is against all kinds of national questions, as a state
Spain did not manage to overcome its problems, which mostly are of
a sentimental origin. For instance, Spain contradicts nationalism
to the issues regarding the Basques or Catalans and considers the
arguments of the sides from hostile point of view and not from the
viewpoint of establishing relations and coexistence. In this respect
It’s quiet natural that Spain equally does not accept the national
principles of other nations as well. This state likes a centripetal
position. And after all, what is the discussion about, if Spain has
not recognized even the independence of Kosovo? (THE FULL VERSION OF
