KIEV SNIPERS HIRED BY MAIDAN LEADERS – LEAKED EU’S ASHTON PHONE TAPE

The snipers who shot at protesters and police in Kiev were allegedly
hired by Maidan leaders, according to a leaked phone conversation
between the EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton and Estonian
foreign affairs minister, which has emerged online.

“There is now stronger and stronger understanding that behind the
snipers, it was not Yanukovich, but it was somebody from the new
coalition,” Paet said during the conversation.

“I think we do want to investigate. I mean, I didn’t pick that up,
that’s interesting. Gosh,” Ashton answered.

The call took place after Estonia’s Foreign Minister Urmas Paet
visited Kiev on February 25 at the peak of clashes between the pro-EU
protesters and security forces in the Ukrainian capital.

Paet also recalled his conversation with a doctor who treated those
shot by snipers in Kiev. She said that both protesters and police
were shot at by the same people.

“And second, what was quite disturbing, this same Olga [Bogomolets]
told as well that all the evidence shows that the people who were
killed by snipers from both sides, among policemen and then people
from the streets, that they were the same snipers killing people from
both sides,” the Estonian FM stressed.

Ashton reacted to the information by saying: “Well, yeah…that’s,
that’s terrible.”

“So that she then also showed me some photos she said that as a medical
doctor she can say that it is the same handwriting, the same type
of bullets, and it’s really disturbing that now the new coalition,
that they don’t want to investigate what exactly happened,” Paet said.

The Estonian FM has described the whole sniper issue as “disturbing”
and added, “it already discredits from the very beginning” the new
Ukrainian power.

His overall impressions of what he saw during his one-day trip to
Kiev are “sad,” Paet said during the conversation.

He stressed that the Ukrainian people don’t trust the Maidan leaders,
with all the opposition politicians slated to join the new government
“having dirty past.”

The file was reportedly uploaded to the web by officers of Security
Service of Ukraine (SBU) loyal to ousted President Viktor Yanukovich
who hacked Paet’s and Ashton’s phones.

94 people were killed and another 900 injured during the standoff
between police and protesters at Maidan Saquare in Kiev last month.

l’interieur qu’a l’exterieur.

pays democratique d’autre part.

BAKU: Armenian Man Detained Crossing Contact Line Of Armenian, Azerb

ARMENIAN MAN DETAINED CROSSING CONTACT LINE OF ARMENIAN, AZERBAIJANI TROOPS, RETURNED

Trend, Azerbaijan
March 4 2014

Baku, Azerbaijan, March 4

By Ilkin Izzet – Trend:

Armenian citizen Khojayan Mamika Tigranovich, who was arrested on Jan.

28 while attempting to cross the contact line of Armenian and
Azerbaijani troops, was returned to his own country on March 4,
secretary of Azerbaijani State Commission on Prisoners of War,
Hostages and Missing Persons, Shahin Sailov told Trend.

He said Khojayan Mamika Tigranovich was handed over to Armenia with
the help of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

ICRC later said that Khojayan Mamika was placed in the Armenian
officials’ care on the road between Azerbaijani town of Gazakh and
Armenian town of Ijevan, at the international border.

“ICRC delegates had visited the man prior to his repatriation in order
to assess the conditions in which he was being held and the treatment
he received. Representatives of the organization had also been in
contact with his family in Armenia,” the committee said. “Acting as
a neutral intermediary and in accordance with its mandate, the ICRC
facilitated this repatriation in conjunction with the Azerbaijani
and Armenian authorities”.

It should be noted that Khojayan Mamika was detained on Jan. 28
while trying to cross a river in the Alibayli village of Azerbaijan’s
Tovuz district.

On the basis of its mandate under the Geneva Conventions, the ICRC
has been working in the region since 1992 in connection with the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988
when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan.

Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijan since
1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding
districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The
co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the U.S. are
currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council’s four
resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the
surrounding regions.

Embassy Of The Republic Of Armenia In India: Azerbaijani Distortion

EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA: AZERBAIJANI DISTORTION OF THE EVENTS IN KHOJALY

India Investment News
March 3, 2014 Monday 6:30 AM EST

New Delhi, March 3 — Azerbaijani diplomacy and propaganda continues
to mislead the international community and Azerbaijani people by
falsifying the essence and the history of the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict and the facts about the Khojaly events in particular. By
distorting the Khojaly events, Azerbaijani regime attempts to escape
the responsibility for the Armenian massacres in Sumgait (February,
1988), Kirovabad (November, 1988), Baku (January, 1990), Maragha
(April 1992) and against its own population in Khojaly. Azerbaijan
strives to portray itself as a victim, thus trying to prepare a moral
ground both domestically and internationally to unleash another war
against Nagorno-Karabakh.

Azerbaijan continues to reject international appeals, including
by the European Court of Human Rights, to openly debate about the
events in Khojaly. In that regard one can only ask why all who have
expressed points of views differing from Azerbaijani official version
of the events have been either killed, like journalist Mustafaev,
or imprisoned like journalist Fatullayev, or politically persecuted
like Ayaz Mutalibov, the first president of Azerbaijan?

In reality Khojaly village was one of the Azerbaijani strongholds in
the heart of Nagorno-Karabakh which for many months as Human Rights
Watch put it “pounded the capital of Nagorno Karabakh, Stepanakert,
and other Armenian towns and villages with shells and grenades. The
indiscriminate shelling and sniper shooting killed or maimed hundreds
of civilians, destroyed homes, hospitals and other objects that are
not legitimate military targets, and generally terrorized the civilian
population”.[1] Therefore, suppressing the Azerbaijani fire had become
a matter of survival for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.

As Azerbaijani journalist Eynulla Fatullayev stated “And even several
days prior to the attack, the Armenians had been continuously warning
the population about the planned operation through loudspeakers
and suggesting that the civilians abandon the town and escape from
the encirclement through a humanitarian corridor. According to the
Khojaly refugees’ own words, they had used this corridor and, indeed,
the Armenian soldiers positioned behind the corridor had not opened
fire on them”[2].

However, goes on Fatullayev “… part of the Khojaly inhabitants
had been fired upon by our own [Azerbaijani troops]… Whether it
was done intentionally or not is to be determined by investigators
… [They were killed] not by [some] mysterious [shooters], but by
provocateurs from the NFA[3] battalions … [The corpses] had been
mutilated by our own …”[4].

Ayaz Mutalibov, then the president of Azerbaijan blamed his political
opponents for killings in Khojaly. He stated in an interview that
“…the corridor, by which people could escape, had nonetheless been
left by the Armenians. So, why did they have to open fire? Especially
in the area around Aghdam, where there was sufficient force at
that time to get help to the people. As the Khojali inhabitants,
who narrowly escaped, say, it was all organized in order to have
grounds for my resignation. Some forces functioned for the effort to
discredit the president”[5].

The fact that Khojaly inhabitants felt victim of fierce domestic
political strife for power in Azerbaijan was confirmed also by then
Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Supreme Council Karayev and his successor
Mamedov, Azerbaijani Human Rights Activist Yunusov and others.

Heydar Aliyev, then a presidential hopeful in Azerbaijan stated that
“the bloodshed will profit us. We should not interfere in the course
of events”[6].

Mr. Fatullayev, the Chief Editor of the Azerbaijani newspaper “Realny
Azerbaijan” spent many years in prison for alleged defamation of
inhabitants of Khojaly. He appealed to the European court of Human
Rights, which ruled that the Azerbaijani government shall immediately
release Fatullayev. He was eventually released in 2011 and shortly
after confirmed to Radio Liberty that he has not changed his views
on Khojaly events and held “Azerbaijani fighters, not Armenians,
responsible for the 1992 killings” of Khojaly inhabitants[7].

The Azerbaijani aggressive rhetoric and distortion of history, backed
by the billions worth acquisition of offensive weaponry[8], bares
serious threat to the security and stability for the whole region
and thus should be adequately countered by the international community.

Status of Women Canada:

Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status
of Women, celebrated the beginning of International Women’s Week
in Toronto today at events with the Red Shawl organization and the
Armenian Relief Society of Toronto. This year’s theme is Strong Women,
Strong Canada, Canadian Women – Creating Jobs One Business at a Time.

This theme highlights the important contributions women entrepreneurs
make to Canada’s economic success.

International Women’s Week begins on March 2 and concludes on March
8 with International Women’s Day. Canadians are invited to join
the Government of Canada in marking this occasion by organizing,
promoting and participating in events across the country.

Quick facts

independent sales contractors are women (84%) who are attracted to the
opportunity to work from home, and have more control over their lives.

– According to BMO Financial Group, women-owned businesses employ
over 1.5 million Canadians.

– RBC Economics reports that as of 2011 the contribution of
majority-owned women’s businesses was an estimated $148 billion.

– Since 2007, the Harper Government has delivered more than $53 million

succeed, creating jobs and prosperity. That’s why this year’s
International Women’s Week focuses on the valuable contributions of
women entrepreneurs to the Canadian economy.”

ourselves to the goal of inspiring change in their lives. The Red
Shawl organization believes that when a woman’s life is improved,
families and communities are strengthened. A shawl denotes the passing

Syria: Video Shows Pro-Assad LA Gang Members Fighting In The Civil W

SYRIA: VIDEO SHOWS PRO-ASSAD LA GANG MEMBERS FIGHTING IN THE CIVIL WAR

The men claim to be from the Surenos and Westside Armenian Power LA gangs.

KASHMIRA GANDER

Tuesday 04 March 2014

Two alleged Los Angeles gang members have reportedly joined the string
of foreigners fighting in Syria’s civil war, the Los Angeles Police
Department has confirmed (LAPD).

In video footage reportedly shot in the Middle Eastern country, the
men boast that they are on the “front line” and fire their guns in
the direction of “theenemigos” (enemies).

One of the men rolls up his shirt sleeve to reveal gang tattoos,
and claims to be Creeper from the Sur-13 or Surenos – a group loosely
affiliated with Mexican-mafia-linked southern Californian gangs.

Creeper’s companion in the video says he is Wino of the Westside
Armenian Power gang.

“It’s Syria, homie, we’re in Syria, homie. Frontline, homie, frontline,
homie,” says Wino.

WATCH THE VIDEO HERE (WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT)

However, unusually for those who travel to fight in the conflict,
the men are pro-Bashar Al-Assad, but members of the Armenian Christian
minority in Syria have been known to be hard-line Assad supporters.

Mike Downing, LAPD Chief for Counterterrorism, told ABC Newsthat they
had seen the video online and on Facebook.

It was originally distributed on 1 March by the Middle East Media
Research Institute (Memri), which monitors media in the region.

“We’re kind of concerned about their recruitment and whatever other
associates they have here [LA]. We predicted this would happen —
the [organized crime and terrorism] convergence. What we’re worried
about is the ones we don’t know about here or coming back to the US,”
said Downing.

He also confirmed to the US network that the subjects are gang members,
one Armenian and the other Latino, fighting with Hezbollah militias
to defend Assad.

He added, one, if not both, of the men were deported from the US
long ago and are not citizens, citing the gangsters’ public social
networking posts as evidence.

According to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper during
a congressional testimony last month, there have been no reported
instances of Americans voluntarily fighting for Assad in Syria,
but around 50 are believed to have joined the rebel forces.

European citizens have also travelled to Syria to fight in the
conflict, in moves which politicians fear will see young people
returning to their countries radicalised and dangerous.

Analyst: The Best Which Yerevan Can Do To Ukraine Is To Go On Keepin

ANALYST: THE BEST WHICH YEREVAN CAN DO TO UKRAINE IS TO GO ON KEEPING SILENT

by David Stepanyan

ARMINFO
Tuesday, March 4, 12:58

The best, which Yerevan can do to the last events in Ukraine is
to go on keeping silent, director of the “Accord” investigation
centre, former head of Armenia’s National Security Service, David
Shakhnazaryan, said at today’s press-conference.

“The authorities of Armenia, and Foreign Ministry in particular,
have not yet made a statement regarding Armenia’s attitude to the
events in Ukraine and bringing of Russian troops into the Crimea. I
am confident that Moscow has been imposing strong pressure upon
Yerevan with a purpose to force the authorities of Armenia support
their intervention in Ukraine. I do not even dare to suppose that
the authorities will give an assessment that confronts Russia’s
interests. Nevertheless, I hope that they will manage to go on
keeping silent”, – he said. He recalled that no country of the world
has supported Russia’s aggression. Even the leaders of Belarus and
Kazakhstan abandoned to support Putin, he emphasized.

For his part, director of the Caucasus Institute, Aleksandr
Iskandaryan, said nevertheless Armenia out of the mouths of
press-secretary of Foreign Ministry, Tigran Balayan, and Deputy
Foreign Minister, Shavarsh Kocharyan, made statements regarding the
events in Ukraine, but they were blear and slender. He also added
that taking into consideration the fact that about 100 thsd Armenians
have been living in Ukraine, Armenia should have good relations with
any government which will come to power in Kiev. In this context,
he agreed to Shakhazaryan that Yerevan should occupy a silent and
wait-and-see stance regarding the events in Ukraine.

RA Representative To UN Drew Secretary General’s Attention To System

RA REPRESENTATIVE TO UN DREW SECRETARY GENERAL’S ATTENTION TO SYSTEMATIC VIOLATION OF CEASEFIRE BY AZERBAIJAN

17:11 04/03/2014 >> REGION

Armenia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Garen Nazarian
has sent a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon where he draws
Secretary General’s attention to the systematic violation of ceasefire
by Azerbaijan.

“Azerbaijani armed forces target Armenian positions and settlements on
a daily basis along the line of contact between Nagorno Karabakh and
Azerbaijan and the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border,” it is stated
in the letter.

According the document in January the Azerbaijani forces were
intensely firing in the direction of villages in Tavush region of
Armenia. There were reports of casualties from Armenian as well
as Azerbaijani side. “We are deeply concerned with regard to these
incidents, and feel sorrow for the lost lives of the young soldiers,”
said the Permanent Representative in his letter.

According to Nazarian, such systematic violations of international
law by Azerbaijan, namely the principle of non-use of threat and
force pose a serious threat to the peace and security of the region.

There is a solid ground to conclude that the actions of certain
Azerbaijani detachments are either not properly subject to a chain
of command or that these provocations are deliberately intended to
destabilize the situation in the region, it is stated in the letter.

“As for the allegations of the Azerbaijani propaganda machine, claiming
that the Armenian side violates the ceasefire regime at different
parts of the line of contact, I would like to inform you that the
dissemination of this kind of misinformation is part of the pitiful
attempts made by representatives of the Azerbaijani Government at
different levels to mislead broader international opinion, as well as
its own public opinion,” said the Permanent Representative of Armenia
to the UN.

He has noted that such provocations emphasize the importance of
complying with ceasefire agreement concluded on a trilateral basis,
as well as of implementing the proposals to withdraw snipers and
create an investigative mechanism on ceasefire violations.

The unequivocal commitment to the ceasefire and confidence building
by the parties concerned will definitely serve as a crucial factor
in creating a conducive environment for the peace process, the letter
reads. According to him every death of a soldier or a civilian on the
border creates new serious predicaments on the way of the settlement
of the conflict.
