The defense ministry of Artsakh is dismissing Azerbaijani media reports about a non-combat explosion in one of its military position.

Azerbaijani online media outlets reported fake news today alleging that 10 people have been injured in an explosion which occurred in a military base of Artsakh. “The report is false and is another bright result of the adversary’s propaganda imagination,” the Artsakh defense ministry said in a statement.

“The defense ministry of Artsakh is announcing that no incident has occurred in the Defense Army. At the same time, we urge to follow official statements and not give in to Azerbaijani information provocations,” the ministry said.

Edward Militonyan: Cultural unions have nothing to do with the state budget (video)

Despite the rumors circulating, the unions of writers and artists have nothing to do with corruption and the state budget. Today at the meeting with journalists noted this the chairman of the Writers’ Union Edward Militonyan and the chairman of the Union of Artists Karen Aghamyan. Edward Militonyan said that for the union had problems when the program to help the publication of modern writers was reduced by approximately 90%.

“The Writers’ Union has a publishing problem, which is also presented to the current Minister of Culture. Over the past 2.5 years, all programs with the word “writing” were either closed or moved,” the Chairman of the Writers’ Union said, claiming that the Book and Publishing Center was also dissolved without discussion.

“These are centers for not only publishing books, but also organizing exhibitions, establishing international relations, festivals and implementing other programs. All this was not discussed, and with one motion turned to zero. ”

The Chairman of the Union of Artists Karen Aghamyan, who headed the union for 20 years, said that he did nothing wrong, did not violate any law. Despite this, there are internal problems, but the protesting artists do not specify them, demanding only the resignation of the Chairman of the union.

“Even 5 years ago I decided not to put forward my candidacy on the forum, but there was gossip against my personality, and I decided to move forward, having received 80% of the votes.”

The next forum of the Union of Artists is scheduled for autumn. Karen Aghamyan did not mention anything specific about the nomination of his candidacy, noting that he still had time for thinking over it.

Ethnic Armenian blogger goes unnoticed by Azerbaijani “intelligence” agencies, travels to Ganja and visits antebellum home of parents

YEREVAN, JULY 9, ARMENPRESS. Prominent tourism blogger Alexander Lapshin, the Russian-Israeli citizens who came under international media spotlight for being arrested in Belarus and extradited to Azerbaijan after Baku issued an arrest warrant for his “unauthorized visit” to Artsakh, posted a video on his Facebook page where a man, presenting himself to be Armenians, tells how he was able to visit Azerbaijan on a Belarusian passport.

“The Armenians with a Belarusian passport who was able to arrive in Azerbaijan and reach his parents’ home in Ganja (Kirovabad)”, Lapshin said.

Lapshin said that Azerbaijan bans the entry of ethnic Armenians based on its racist policy.

Speaking about the parents of the man, he said that Armenians fled Ganja during the Karabakh war and their homes were taken by Azerbaijanis. Lapshin notes that Azerbaijani security forces failed to notice the ethnicity of the young man and he was able to film the coverage and return home.

“His short film shows the poverty, evilness, horrible Armenophobia and the nationwide spy-mania in Azerbaijan. The man later went to Armenia and Karabakh,” he said.

He says that the blogger took great risk by doing the coverage in Azerbaijan, because simply walking in Ganja or asking about the homes of Armenians could have led to his murder or arrest.

“We expect an addition to the honorary list, the black list of Azerbaijan,” Lapshin joked.

Police Chief of Armenia Valery Osipyan assures that the poilice force is detaining suspects only in case of having sufficient grounds.

Osipyan was speaking to reporters regarding the arrest of Nazik Amiryan, the wife of MP Manvel Grigoryan, the former general who is remanded in custody pending trial.

The Police Chief says there are testimonies incriminating Amiryan. Particularly, testimonies whereby Amiryan indeed instructed the drivers to load trucks with military supply food from the headquarters of the Yerkrapah Union.

Earlier on June 18, anti-corruption officers of police discovered two vargo vehicles loaded with military food supplies in a Yerevan parking lot. The drivers of the vehicles, members of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union – an NGO formerly chaired by the general – have claimed that they loaded the supplies – canned meat made for the military and not available for sale anywhere – at the instruction of Nazik Amiryan from the headquarters of Yerkrapah Volunteers Union on June 16. About 3000 cans were found in the cars.

Member of Parliament Manvel Grigoryan, the former general who is suspected in misappropriating military supplies and donations, as well as illegal possession of firearms, will remain in pre-trial detention for two months.

Viaggio in Armenia, monasteri e khachkar all’ombra del Monte Ararat

Viaggio in Armenia, monasteri e khachkar all’ombra del Monte Ararat

Terry Minasian
ARS Roubina Chapter
Terry Minasian was born in Athens, Greece. After her public education in Greek
and Armenian schools, she subsequently attended the American College for Girls
in Athens. Terry married Berge Minasian from Detroit, Michigan and together
they settled in Detroit. She continued her education and majored in Art and
Business. She subsequently became a successful artist and was the owner of an
art gallery. Her painting of the Madonna and Child hangs at the Altar of the
San Diego St. John Garabed Armenian Church.
Terry's mother volunteered as a Blue Cross member in Greece and Terry followed
her example and joined the ARS Chapter in Detroit. When the family moved to San
Diego, Terry along with her friend Azniv Sabonjian founded the ARS Roubina
Chapter in 1985. The Roubina Chapter has been very successful. Over the years,
they compiled an admirable record of serving the elderly, helping immigrant
families, conducting Armenian language classes, making annual financial
contributions to the ARS Western Region Board for their humanitarian
commitments and sponsoring events to strengthen the community. Every year, they
also managed to give scholarships to deserving Armenian college students.
Terry was elected to the Regional Board from 1991 to 1993 and then again in
1997 to 1999. It was during her second term that she chaired the committee that
built the new ARS Regional Headquarters building in Glendale. With the support
of the Regional Board, Terry guided the many facets of securing building loans,
hiring architects, and builders.  The outcome was a state of the art building
which was completed on schedule and on budget.

Estonian FM does not believe in change of Armenia’s strategic course

Baltic News Service / - BNS
 Friday 4:00 PM EET
Estonian formin does not believe in change of Armenia's strategic course
TALLINN, May 11, BNS - Alternation of power in Armenia may not mean a
great change of the course of the country, Estonian Foreign Minister
Sven Mikser said.
"It is clear that there is no point in pinning an excessive amount of
hope on a great change in Armenia's strategic course. It will still
continue operating in the geopolitical space that it has been given
today," Mikser told BNS on Friday.
Mikser said that it must be observed what the first steps of the new
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan are.
"We are definitely dealing with a charismatic politician. What his
playing field is like in a situation, where he in reality does not
have an independent parliament majority behind him, is still to be
determined," the minister said.
The parliament of Armenia elected Pashinyan prime minister by the
pressure of the demonstrations of the opposition, even though his own
party holds a minority in the parliament.
Armenia is under the pressure of its two large Muslim neighbors,
Turkey and Azerbaijan, and must lean on the security assistance of
Russia.
