ASHOT MANUCHARYAN: IVANISHVILI MADE AN ANTI-ARMENIAN STATEMENT FOR LACK OF POLITICAL EXPERIENCE

Bidzina Invanishvili, Georgian Dream Leader, made a careless anti-
Armenian statement as he lacks relevant political experience, says
Ashot Manucharyan, former advisor to first president of Armenia for
security affairs, a member of the Karabakh Committee. He told media,
Wednesday, that the Armenian public should take such statements easy,
because cooperation is in favor of both the countries.

“The first president of Georgia Zviad Gamsakhurdia had made even
tougher statements, though Armenia later had to ensure his security.

The same did the second president Eduard Shevardnadze, who later
asked Armenia for help in civil war. Consequently, one should think
of further steps that will make the Georgian political youth cooperate
with Armenia,” Manucharyan said.

Businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili and his bloc Georgian Dream won
the parliamentary elections in Georgia on October 1 with majority
of votes. He has already introduced the Cabinet. Earlier, Mass Media
disseminated an excerpt from Ivanishvili’s interview with Novoye Vremya
newspaper wherein he expressed surprise at the fact of residence of
Armenians in Georgia. Later on October 8 Ivanishvili’s spokesperson
Irakli Tripolsky refuted the given information on the Armenian Public
Television. Afterwards, newspaper once again published the interview
containing the given excerpt.

district.

PANARMENIAN EXPO 2012 TO TAKE PLACE IN YEREVAN OCT 12-14

PANARMENIAN EXPO 2012 will take place in Karen Demirchyan Sport and
Culture Complex, Yerevan, Oct 12-14.

The organizers are PROM EXPO and the Commerce and Industry Chamber
of Armenia (CTCA).

Chairman of the CTCA Araik Vardanyan says that almost 120 local
businessmen and importers will take part in the exhibition, while
the visitors will be from Georgia, Iran, Syria, Turkey, Russia,
Japan, Korea and some other countries. 8% of the participants will
be start-up businessmen.

The organizers are sure that the exhibition will help the participants
to establish contacts with foreign companies, especially as this
year the event will be held at the same time with the all-Armenian
economic forum.

Director of PROM EXPO Arman Zakaryan says that during the previous
exhibition four years ago a number of local agricultural, construction
and high tech companies signed contracts with foreign partners. One of
the problems, according to Zakaryan, that the venue, Karen Demirchyan
complex, is located in a hard to access area.

Another problem is that the number of participants is decreasing (in
2003 there were as many as 250 participants). On the other hand, the
number of foreign visitors and the number of countries they represent
are growing.

Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) has made a decision to
confiscate property documents from the Civilitas Foundation.

According to a press release by the organization, the decision, whose
copy was submitted to Civilitas by a deputy head of the Service, M.

Hambardzumyan, calls for confiscating the documents allowing the
transfer and possession of the USD 577 897 and AMD 11 494 000 (about
$3,000) to the Foundation from the Huntsman International LLC and
Polymer Materials Inc., and the USD 1,427,000 through the founder
and head of the Civilitas Trusteeship Board, Vartan Oskanian. The
documents include decisions and minutes by the Trusteeship Board, as
well as any other papers that could deal with the above transactions
(with the exception of accountancy documents justifying the
administrative-managerial costs).

Oskanian, who was Armenia’s foreign minister from 1998 until 2008,
quit the Civilitas board in May to join the Prosperous Armenia party
and run for parliament. On May 25, the National Security Council
launched a money laundering proceeding against Civilatas, accusing
the foundation of a failure to report a $1.5 million donation to the
tax authorities. Oskanian’s lawyer later asked a Yerevan district the
court to halt the proceeding but his motion was rejected. Prosecutor
General Avghan Hovsepyan later asked the National Assembly to consider
stripping the ex minister of minister of mandate. His petition received
the parliament’s approval last week, with the opposition MPs boycotting
the voting.

Tert.am has learned from the Foundation that NSS interrogators visited
the Civilitas on Wednesday to confiscate documents concerning Oskanian
and the criminal proceeding.

The film entitled “If Only Everyone,” which is about the
Nagorno-Karabakh War and simple human relations, has caught the
attention of movie lovers ever since it appeared on the big screen.

The motion picture, which was shot under the patronage of Armenia’s
President Serzh Sargsyan and is devoted to the 20th anniversaries
of Armenia’s independence and the Armenian army, is widely covered
by international press. And it was found out Tuesday that the film
has been included in the long list of the 2012 Oscar Academy Awards
nominees, Armenpress reported.

“First and foremost, the film’s success is in its love and sincerity,”
its director Natalya Belyauskene believes. In her words, “it is
difficult to say as to what extent this movie will be able to present
to the world the Armenian-Azerbaijani cultural ties, but one thing
is clear: reality is far from politics.”

Tereza Varzhapetyan, who is one of the film’s producers, believes
that being included in the Oscar long list is already a success and
a cause for joy in itself.

“Hrant Bagratyan Has Copied The 100-Step Program From Me And Now He Talks About It On His Own Behalf,” Sadoyan Says (Video)

October 8, 2012 22:57

“Hrant Bagratyan talks about the government, criticizes and stuff…

today. Bro, you have destroyed this country, inflicted billions of
dollars’ worth damage on this country, now you have stood up and say
‘Tigran Sargsyan does it wrong.’ Didn’t we tell you thousands of times
and you didn’t do it. The Mazut Case…. Can you imagine? Today people
come to power and say what Mazut Case, what are you talking about,
what years of dark and cold, has it ever happened?” Arshak Sadoyan,
the leader of the Union of National Democrats and a former MP, recalled
the famous Mazut Case again talking about Hrant Bagratyan, an Armenian
National Congress (ANC) MP, during a conversation with

Hrant Bagratyan clearly explained to the residents of regions during
the ANC election campaign that if there had been such a case, he should
have been arrested. And since he hasn’t been arrested, it is clear that
no such thing has happened. In response to that observation of ours,
Arshak Sadoyan said the following, “So that is how it is, huh? There
hasn’t been such a case, huh? It is a different matter that before
arresting there should have been a document. Look, for example, they
say political… so let them arrest Vartan Oskanian. There is that
case now, a million and a half, isn’t there? And Oskanian doesn’t
deny it. Hrant Bagratyan doesn’t say that it hasn’t happened, does
he? He says I don’t have anything to do with it. We say weren’t you
the Prime Minister? You should have taken care of it.”

Talking about the parliamentary life and the activity shown by the ANC,
its questions, Mr. Sadoyan observed, “Hrant Bagratyan, no matter how
curly … [he used a swearword, which we don’t make public, H.J.] he
is, he was the Prime Minister, he knows many things. When people
with so much knowledge become a member of parliament, they refresh
the work of the parliament. However, it doesn’t mean that from the
perspective of political struggle, prospects etc., I wouldn’t say at
least today that the people have respect for MPs as such, not from
the perspective of money and that after the ANC members became MPs,
the respect has increased. On the contrary, they are all the same. One
should take serious steps, fundamental steps here. It is very strange
for me that Taron Margaryan as the mayor has gained so much popularity
within a short period of time. He had been working before that too,
even flowers, decorating… and stuff. However, can the ANC, the
Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) or any other force offer a way?”

We reminded that the ANC had proposed the 100-step program, he replied,
“What effing 100 steps, I can offer 150. No problem with that. Guess
he says I have a program of increasing pensions ten times.

I say how can we give it, from where, he says somewhere, diminish
the shadow economy. We ask how we can do that, he says it is your
business, we don’t care. When the curly … [a swearword again, H.J.]
was the Prime Minister, I made an offer to increase the minimum wage
10 times explaining that it will cost the government nothing, because
it will lead to diminishing the shadow economy. I told Bagratyan what
Bagratyan says today. Now he has copied and says on his own behalf.”

Karabakh Defense Army Acquires New Weaponry

KARABAKH DEFENSE ARMY ACQUIRES NEW WEAPONRY

October 10, 2012 | 13:31

YEREVAN. – The military command post exercises being held in Armenia
are the next step toward raising the combat-readiness level of the
Armed Forces, military analyst Davit Jamalyan said during a press
conference on Wednesday. “The army and the society must be ready for
war, if they want to avoid it,” he stressed.

Reflecting on the rumors that the drills are being conducted due to
a tension at the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, Jamalyan noted that
these exercises are in progress for already two weeks and they will
end in several days. “As you can see, there is no tension. Everything
is as usual,” he concluded.

He noted that tactical drills will soon be conducted in the
Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), during which the military servicemen
will acquire skills in using new weaponry. “The NKR Defense Army is
continually complemented with armaments,” Jamalyan said, and clarified
that this time this refers to anti-tank equipment.

In his words, the MOD, media, and NGOs need to work jointly to deal
with Azerbaijan’s informational manipulations. “We need to be proud
of the accomplishments [of ours] and vociferously inform about this,”
Davit Jamalyan stated.
