T.HAKOBYAN:ARMENIAN-TURKISH PROTOCOLS LOAD ON ARMENIA’S SHOULDERS

There are no Armenian-Turkish relations, they have never been on such
a low point during the last twenty years as they are at present, said
today Tatul Hakobyan, the author of the book “Armenians and Turks”.

The Armenian – Turkish protocols, according to T. Hakobyan, are “a
load on the shoulders of the Armenian Republic,” and the Turks are
to gain all possible benefits till the Armenians didn’t refuse all
those protocols.

Concluding his speech T. Hakobyan mentioned that the Armenians should
refuse those protocols as soon as possible, by using any reason.

“Turks give a reason every day; the Armenian side, however, does not
refuse the protocols because of the political expediency.”

“We can hit all targets of the enemy with modern weapons”

Terter. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. “The most modern weapons have
been deployed on the battle-field of the Azerbaijani Army and line
of contact”, Spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Eldar
Sabiroghlu told at the press conference on the frontline in Terter:
“To prevent the aggression of the Armenian armed forces is one of
our main tasks. This moment is not far away. We can’t tolerate any
more. I think that we will witness the liberation of our territories
from occupation in the near future”.

Sabiroghlu underlined that Azerbaijan has done much towards
military build-up recently: “The first is armament. We purchased the
most modern weapons and can hit all the targets of the enemy with
modern weapons. The second issue is to raise fighting spirit of the
personnel. ”

OPPOSITIONIST: ARMENIA EXPERIENCES A CALM BEFORE THE STORM

The political field of Armenia experiences a calm before the storm,
Lyudmila Sargsyan, MP from the Armenian National Congress, Leader of
Hnchakyan Party, said at a press conference in Yerevan.

“As compared with the previous elections, the current situation in
the political field of Armenia is exclusive, which is explained by the
public’s disappointment with the previous parliamentary elections and
the lack of search for an alternative candidate for the forthcoming
presidential elections”, she said. The MP thinks that the ruling
Republican Party of Armenia is too confident to consider that the
country has no alternative to the incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan.

She said that the forthcoming nomination will show that Sargsyan
himself will be an alternative to the opposition candidate and will
contend for the second position. “The current power is weak and
cannot solve the problems of the society, and this makes that power
more vulnerable”, she said.

To recall, earlier the RPA Spokesperson Edward Sharmazanov said that
the incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan has no competitors, and the
fight during the presidential elections will be only for the second
position. This statement caused the furious reaction of the opposition
parties. In particular, Leader of the Marxist Party of Armenia David
Hakobyan called Sharmazanov a court parrot and advised him to abstain
from such statements.

Armenia thinks it is very much important to further develop the
military cooperation with the USA, Armenian Defence Minister Seyran
Ohanyan told journalists today after the meeting with US Secretary
of the Navy, Rey Mabus.

He said that 2011 and 2012 were especially fruitful in the matter
of development of bilateral relations in the sphere of defence,
and mutual high level visits are evidence of the serious potential
of the parties and the desire to further develop the cooperation.

Ohanyan separated two main direction of cooperation – the peace-making
operation in Afghanistan and Kosovo and the humanitarian clearing
minefields, as well as the reforms in the defence sphere. He also
said it is very much significant to cooperate with US Marine Corps
which is also subordinated to US secretary of Navy. In this context,
the minister added that for the last several years about 200 Armenian
servicemen were trained in Germany and Romania together with US Navy.

“We are going to further work in this direction”, – Ohanyan said.

He also emphasized that they watched the possibility of cooperation
in the military and industrial sphere as well, in particular, in
upgrading of some types of special small arms.

ARMENIAN REPORTED INJURED IN DAMASCUS TERRORIST ACT

An ethnic Armeniam has been reportedly injured in a vehicle explosion
in Jaramana, a Christian outskirt in the east of Damascus.

Ten people, including women and children, have been killed and 50
others injured in the terrorist act, ITAR-TASS reports, citing the
Syrian state television.

The district is mainly populated by Druzes but it also has over 200
ethnic Armenian residents.

A similar blast in the city’s Daf al-Shouk district had left 15 people
dead and another 92 injured.

ARMENIA’S HOLY SEE TO COMMENT ON DEVELOPMENTS OVER ITS STRASBURG SERVANT LATER

The press service of the Holy See of Armenia’s Etchmiadzin will comment
on the developments over its Strasbourg servant, Rev. Vache Ayrapetyan
allegedly linked to the group accused of false money preparation and
pimping later.

The band has been arrested in French city of Nice.

An official from Ethcmiadzin press service told Tert.am that Rev.

Vache is just giving testimonies.

The clergyman said his name is being speculated in the case but the
judge does not ask him anything about false money and pimping.

Passions went hot over the clergyman two years ago. The community was
dissatisfied with Vache Ayrapetyan and complained to the Primate of the
French Diocese of the Armenian Church. In 2009 they sent a letter to
Catholicos Karekin II asking to remove him, while no response followed.

According to Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun daily, Rev. Vache’s bodyguards
allegedly beat a person, the clergyman has even banned people to
enter the church closing the door on them, and making a barbeque in
the church’s yard.

The French Armenians have even worked out church reform program,
and draft regulation for churches. Finally responding to tens of
letters from the community, the Holy See moved Rev. Vache from Nice
to Strasburg.

ROMNEY INDIFFERENT TOWARD KARABAKH ISSUE, MORE ATTRACTED BY AZERBAIJANI OIL – EXPERT

US presidential candidate Mitt Romney is indifferent toward Nagorno
Karabakh conflict and will probably be more attracted by Azerbaijani
oil, political analyst Richard Giragosian told the reporters on Monday.

No matter which of the candidates is elected, the Armenian-American
relations will remain the same, the expert said, adding though that
the candidates’ attitude toward the NK issue differs.

“The Republican candidate is indifferent toward the Karabakh issue
and he may be more attracted by Azerbaijani oil,” he said.

“Of course, both Romney and Obama assess the oil factor in Azerbaijan
but the Republicans are more inclined to deepen the energy business
and have close cooperation with the Azerbaijani leadership. Mitt Romney
does not have experience in military security issue,” Giragosian said.

As a US citizen and voter Richard Giragosian is Democrat and is going
to back the incumbent President Barack Obama.

The analyst said this time the presidential race will be quite tough.

“Unlike in Armenia, in the USA it is fight not only between the persons
but political parties as well. The future USA will be determined by
the coming elections,” he said.

Speaking about US Armenian community’s preferences, Richard Giragosian
said the history shows that they more back democrats than the
republicans.

“The Armenian community is angry with two of them for not referring
to the Genocide issue. You already know that they are boycotting the
elections, which is a clever strategy as the statements over it are
as important as participation in the elections,” he said.

“Participation of Armenians and their decision not to elect anyone
is a powerful step. If Armenians are not electing anyone, it does
not mean the Armenian lobby will weaken,” the analyst explained,
adding that the Armenian lobby will strengthen by 2015.

Giragosian voiced conviction that Obama will win in the elections
and said it will be good for Armenia and US Armenians.

BUSINESSMAN: A WELL ORGANIZED CRIMINAL GROUP HAS BEEN FUNCTIONING IN ALL THE POWER STRUCTURES OF ARMENIA WHICH IS JILTING

A well organized criminal group has been functioning in all the power
structures of Armenia which has been making attempts to withdraw
businessmen of Diaspora from the market, one of the businessmen of the
Armenian Diaspora of the USA, Edmond Khudyan, which has been trying
to restore justice for 18 months, voiced at today’s video-conference.

He invested millions in the construction at Mashtots Avenue in the
center of Yerevan through his own company “Arin Capital”. All his
attempts to settle the problem via the executive power and court
failed. A group of people pocketed the real estate that costs $8,5
mln and belongs to his investment company “Arin Capital”. The total of
$1,5 mln from the above mentioned sum should be paid to the state like
taxes. So that to stop tax avoidance by these people and purposeful
leading the company to bankruptcy, in November 2010 Khudyan applied
to chairman of State Revenues Committee, Gagik Khachatryan, and hoped
that the state structure will file a lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed in May 2011. Khudyan said that he means the
crimes committed by a group of professionals which has been still
acting under the patronage of high-rank officials.

In particular, he means President Serzh Sargsyan’s brother Levon
Sargsyan, which is first of all blamed for all the problems of
Khudyan, as just Levon Sargsyan organized holding of audit in the
company. Meanwhile, the construction work goes on and has been
implemented by an unknown company. “All my applications to various
structures, including Diaspora Ministry, gave no result. Actually,
I should say about bad work of Diaspora Ministry”, – Khudyan said.

La Russie est le seul reel investisseur dans l’economie de l’Armenie
a dit le chef du parti Democratique d’Armenie Aram Sargsyan.

” Dans les annees 90 les Etats-Unis ont donne des credits a
l’Armenie, cependant, aucun pays en dehors de la Russie n’a jamais
significativement investi dans l’economie ” a dit Sargsyan.

Le flux des investissements russes en Armenie s’est reduit de 16,9 %
a presque 26,9 millions de $ entre janvier et mars 2012 compare a la
meme periode un an plus tôt.

Dans ce contexte, Aram Sargsyan a dit qu’il est necessaire de donner
un stimulus complementaire a la moindre association internationale
avec la Russie, incluant l’adhesion a l’Union Eurasienne.

UN ALLIE CLEF DE TER-PETROSIAN OPPOSE A TOUTE COOPERATION AVEC TSARUKIAN

Un membre important du Congrès National Armenien (HAK) a rejete toute
cooperation avec le parti Armenie Prospère de Gagik Tsarukian (BHK).

Cette proposition a pourtant ete a plusieurs reprises preconisee par
Levon Ter-Petrosian.

Nikol Pashinian a pretendu que Levon Zurabian, un des associes
les plus proches de Ter-Petrosian, a exprime son avis personnel
quand il a dit que le HAK et le BHK devaient rejoindre leurs forces
pour desarconner le President Serge Sarkissian lors de la prochaine
election presidentielle. ” Selon la constitution, chaque citoyen de
la Republique de l’Armenie est libre d’exprimer son avis ” a-t-il dit.

Nikol Pashinian a insiste pour que les remarques de Zurabian ne
reflètent pas la position officielle du HAK. ” Les positions d’une
force politique sont determinees par ses decisions ” a-t-il dit au
service armenien de RFE/RL (Azatutyun.am). ” Le Congrès National
Armenien (HAK) n’a pris aucune decision encore sur le format de sa
participation aux elections presidentielles “.

Selon Nikol Pashinian, une telle decision exigerait l’approbation
unanime du Conseil Politique du HAK comprenant les chefs de plus
d’une douzaine de groupes de l’opposition alignes dans le bloc. ”
Comme membre du HAK, je suis convaincu que le Conseil Politique du HAK
ne peut pas prendre une telle decision [selon la forme du consensus]
” a-t-il dit. ” Je ne nous veux pas meme discuter serieusement de
cette question “.
