Today, the Armenian Apostolic Church marks Holy Thursday. Holy Thursday
is dedicated to the Last Supper of our Lord Jesus Christ and symbolizes
the establishment of the Sacrament of Communion.

In the morning, Divine Liturgy is celebrated in our churches.

Following the Evening Service, the Service of the Washing of the
Feet is conducted. Christ, displaying true humility and humbleness,
washed the feet of his disciples after the last Supper (Jn 13:1-16).

Following His example, priests in the Armenian Church humble themselves
and kneel down on the bema, in front of the Church altar, and wash
the feet of 12 children or servants of the church, anointing their
feet with blessed oil.

In the evening of the Holy Thursday, a solemn service is held, which
is the introduction to Good Friday. It symbolizes the Crucifixion,
Death and Burial of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Gospel readings during
the service recall the prayer of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane,
His betrayal, arrest, and the denial of Peter.

Data Protection Issues In Armenia

DATA PROTECTION ISSUES IN ARMENIA

25.03.2013

Samvel Martirosyan
Expert, Center for Information Studies, “Noravank” Foundation

The Republic of Armenia is becoming more and more digitalized country.

Only digitization of state institutions, the electronic management
systems has considerably developed in terms of quantity and quality
in recent two years. In the private sector use of the information
technologies is developing much faster. Alongside with these positive
developments the number of threats is also growing because big data
bases appeared in vulnerable space. It refers not only to personal
but also to other data which protection issues and technical and
content developments are processing slower and this may bring to
drastic consequences.

In 2012-2013 several attempts of attacks on rather big data bases in
Armenia were registered. Thus, in March 2012 the Azerbaijani hackers
placed on the Internet the emails of about 200 Armenian users with
their passwords1. In May 2012 about 3000 Armenian email accounts
with their passwords appeared on the web2. The same story repeated
in July3. In all the cases there were grounded suspicions that the
hacker groups managed to get the data bases from different Armenian
web-sites were the users registered their email accounts. In 2013
the Azerbaijani hackers hacked Armenian kuku.am social network4,
after which they publicly released on the web the email accounts of
16 thousand users.

The domains were also attacked. In December 2012 Azerbaijani hackers
also managed to penetrate into the database of a domain selling
company5, and in consequence a number of web-sites suffered from
attacks6. In February 2013 Azerbaijani hackers attacked database of
another Armenian company which was selling domain names; as a result
passwords from domain names were openly released on the web. As a
result of prompt measures no damage was done7.

Azerbaijani and Turkish hackers monthly hack several dozens even
several hundreds of Armenian web-sites. Generally attacks on these
sites do not have drastic consequences because they do not contain any
significant public or state information. Hence, over the last year a
number of web-sites, which belong to the organizations dealing with
personal data, suffered from attacks. E.g. the web-site of a company
providing Internet and telephone communication was attacked8. In this
given case the company insists that the hackers could not penetrate
into the data base9. The attacks on the banks’ web-sites pass more
inconspicuously, though in the recent period a number of causes
were registered10.

In such cases the real extent of damage, possible leakage of
information stay secret for public. The problem is that there is no
public control in these spheres; meanwhile state control, even if it
exists, is not transparent.

Another question is that the protection of personal data directly
contradicts to the reality. Thus, according to the Personal Data
Protection Law11, processing of personal data about subjects,
their open publication implies that the subject is informed about
it. But Article 7 of the Electoral Code reads open publication of the
register of the electorate on the web-site of the Central Electoral
Commission12. This system allows finding out the date of birth and
registration address of the elector. Besides, police, in its turn,
places on the web the electoral register in accordance with the
registration address of the voters; on the one hand this promotes
democratic processes but on the other hand it is a considerable
problem in the aspect of personal data protection.

Availability of such issues on one side, and absence of public
discussion on them on the other side, prove that protection of personal
data becomes a crucial problem in Armenia, taking into consideration
the fact that the process of digitalization is growing at a fast pace.

Mp Downplays Azeri Pressure Over Lithuania-NKR Friendship Group

MP DOWNPLAYS AZERI PRESSURE OVER LITHUANIA-NKR FRIENDSHIP GROUP

Wednesday, 27 March 2013 17:10

Lithuania-Artsakh parliamentary friendship group maintains permanent
contacts with Stepanakert, a Lithuanian MP, one of the initiators of
the group said.

As Dalia Kuodyte told PanARMENIAN.Net joint projects will be discussed
in near future.

Dwelling on the Azeri threats, Ms Kuodyte noted that the latters
forced a parliamentarian into leaving the group. “At present, the
group includes 11 members, none of them is going to leave,” she said.

As she noted, the creation of the parliamentary friendship group
prompted increased activity in Azeri embassy. “There is some pressure
on Azeri side, but not as strong as it may seem,” the MP said, also
noting that threats or pressure will be unacceptable, should the
Azeri side seek to negotiate.

The friendship group for strengthening interparliamentary ties with
Artsakh was created on Match 15 in Lithuanian Seimas.

Candoco Modern Dance Theatre To Give Concerts In Yerevan

CANDOCO MODERN DANCE THEATRE TO GIVE CONCERTS IN YEREVAN

12:30, 28 March, 2013

YEREVAN, MARCH 28, ARMENPRESS. Candoco modern dance theatre will
introduce “Three Acts of Play” performance in the Russian Drama Theatre
after C. Stanislavsky and “Outside In” movie in participation with
the dancers of the same theatre. The British Council supports the
performances. The British Council informed “Armenpress” that Candoco
is an introductory dance art theatre, where disabled persons are
included as well.

One of Candoco’s highlights “Three Acts of Play” is the restaging of
one of Trisha Brown’s signature works, which confirmed her as a pioneer
of contemporary dance. Set to the original upbeat, contagious Laurie
Anderson score, Set and Reset/Reset with Trisha Brown Dance Company
is a fluid, joyful work of pure dance. Following his Evening Standard
Theatre Award for The Most Incredible Thing with the Pet Shop Boys,
choreographer Javier de Frutos returns to Candoco for the third time
with a brand new piece, Studies for C. Inspired by the poetic perfumes
of Tennessee Williams and set to traditional Mexican Ranchera music,
this duet is a celebration of difference and rebellion: ‘I would rather
die on my feet than live on my knees’ (revolutionary Emiliano Zapata).

Candoco Dance Company was founded in 1991 by Celeste Dandeker and Adam
Benjamin. The company developed from workshops led by Celeste and
Adam at the Aspire centre, and grew quickly into the first company
of its kind in the UK – a professional dance company focused on
the integration of disabled and non-disabled dancers. The company
won much acclaim from the press, public and from colleagues in the
worlds of dance and education and between 1991 and 2005 the company
toured to over 50 countries, visiting Europe, Australia, North and
South America, Asia and Africa.

The extensive Learning and Development projects and activities are of
equal importance and the company is widely acknowledged as the World’s
leading exponent of inclusive dance practice. The groundbreaking
approach to teaching dance in inclusive settings resulted in
unprecedented levels of interest from schools, colleges and the
wider community during our early years, and led to a proliferation
of integrated groups across the UK.

Armenian Opposition MP Speaks On Changing Of PM

ARMENIAN OPPOSITION MP SPEAKS ON CHANGING OF PM

NEWS.AM
March 28, 2013 | 12:05

YEREVAN. – If Armenia’s Premier Tigran Sargsyan had the freedom to
act, if he were independent of the oligarchic system that is created,
he may continue in office. National Assembly opposition Heritage
Faction MP, opposition Free Democrats Party member, and former FM
Alexander Arzumanyan stated this during a press conference on Thursday.

In Arzumanyan’s view, PM Sargsyan has quite liberal methods and he
should be allowed to carry out reforms and, in this case, the person
is not significant; it is the system that is incorrect.

“There is no political will to carry out reforms [in the country].

Whatever is done is being done with a push by the partners. If the
mechanism is operating incorrectly, changing the person does not
change anything,” he said.

Alexander Arzumanyan also noted that he is neutral with respect to
changing the PM of Armenia.

Soccer: Mkhitaryan Wanted As Modric Replacement At Tottenham – Repor

MKHITARYAN WANTED AS MODRIC REPLACEMENT AT TOTTENHAM – REPORT

Here Is The City, UK
March 26 2013

Reports in Russia have claimed Spurs are to move to freescoring
Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Tottenham are the latest side to be linked with Shakhtar Donetsk’s
sensational Armenian international Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

A report in one of Russia’s largest national newspapers, Izvestia
reports that Mkhitaryan is wanted to replace Luka Modric who left
White Hart Lane last summer.

Mkhitaryan currently plays for Shakhtar Donetsk, and it was reported
earlier this month that his advisors had been instructed to clinch
him a summer move to one of Europe’s top teams.

He was linked a fortnight ago with Chelsea as a replacement for the
outgoing Frank Lampard, and at 24-year-old feels he is ready to test
himself in a new league.

As well as being the captain for the Armenian national team, Mkhitaryan
has an impressive record.

This season for Shakhtar he has scored an incredible 19 goals in 20
games, with seven assists in the Ukrainian Premier League, with two
goals in the Champions League.

Intriguingly, Mkhitaryan shares the same agents as Tottenham goalkeeper
Hugo Lloris, which could be of benefit to Spurs when it comes to
negotiations.

However supporters should not get ahead of themselves just yet;
as Izvestia reports that Spurs are only likely to pay big money for
the attacker if Gareth Bale is sold, with Alvaro Negredo the other
top target.

Mkhitaryan likes to play behind the striker, in a similar role to
which Rafael van der Vaart used to occupy at Spurs- not really the
Modric role which Izvestia have tagged him for. It was one which Lewis
Holtby was expected to be bought to excel in; but given the German’s
comments this week that he wants to play a deeper role in midfield,
signing a player like Mkhitaryan could just make sense.

The problem is that Shakhtar are not short of money, especially after
cashing in on Willian in January, and will look to spark a bidding
war for such a key player.

Whether Daniel Levy wishes to involve Spurs in that is unlikely,
unless his hand is forced via a sale of Bale, but with the Welshman
contracted to the club until 2016, Tottenham are in a position of
strength and do not have to give any quarter.
