Turkey Did Not Enter Contour Of Europe On New Euro Coins

TURKEY DID NOT ENTER CONTOUR OF EUROPE ON NEW EURO COINS

ArmInfo News Agency, Armenia
Sept 26 2007

ArmInfo. Turkey, earlier depicted on the symbolic map of Europe,
has disappeared from the face side of the new coins of 10 Eurocents
and 2 Euro, minted by Slovenia, the Russian Mass Media report.

The geographic borders of EU turned out to be shifted to the east of
the continent, having covered part of Russia. Some members of the
Europarliament perceived a politically motivated decision of EU’s
Council of Ministers in "exclusion" of Turkey. "Such a dictator
country as Belarus is in the picture of the new Euro coins, while
such a democratic country as Turkey, with which negotiations are
held on joining the EU, is absent", the Italian parliamentarians
Marco Kappato and Marco Pannella said. The Eurocommission denies
this opinion. "The idea was to create a new design, more stabilized
and styled than a simple geographic reflection of Europe, which is
difficult to depict on such a small surface", representative of EU
Executive Power Amelia Torres said.

DOES VICTOR DALLAKIAN SUPPORT MONOLITH OR COMPETITIVE AUTHORITIES?
By Marieta Khachatrian

AZG Armenian Daily

Victor Dalakian, non-partisan parliament member, questioned today
the willingness of the major opposition forces to close ranks and
contest the 2008 presidential election with a common candidate. In
the course of the press conference he said only being united the
opposition can compete with the pro-government candidate, but added
that this looks almost impossible at present. According to Dalakian,
ex-president Levon Ter-Petrosian will also join the race.

"Levon Ter-Petrosian’s injection and the decision of the Armenian
Revolutionary Federation (ARF) to nominate its own candidate will
prompt a very interesting struggle between leftwing and rightwing
political forces," Dalakian said. However, he added that it is not
important who will be elected, what is important is how the next
president of the country is elected."

Yerevan, 19 September: The Armenian Revolutionary
Federation-Dashnaktsutyun will run in the presidential election of
2008, Armen Rustamyan, a representative of the supreme body of the
Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun, said in Yerevan
today.

The supreme council of the Armenian Revolutionary
Federation-Dashnaktsutyun recently made a decision that the
presidential candidate from the party will be either Rustamyan
himself or the deputy speaker of the Armenian National Assembly,
Vahan Hovhannisyan. The final choice between the two candidates will
be made in November 2007.

Rustamyan criticized the political forces that have predetermined the
results of the upcoming presidential election. "Such a position is a
threat to our country, since it might lead to stagnation in society
and in the state as a whole," Rustamyan noted.

He said that Dashnaktsutyun sees the threat in the concentration of
power in the hands of one party (the ruling Republic Party of Armenia –
RPA) and supports equality between branches of power.

"Serious discussions on issues of paramount importance must be
held during the presidential campaign, however, judging by recent
statements by RPA representatives, this party avoids participating
in such events", Rustamyan said.

He also said that he understands Armenian President Robert Kocharyan’s
support for Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan’s candidacy, "but it would
be better if the president supported our candidate".

V. KHACHIKYAN: "REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE WILL WIN ON FIRST BALLOT"

"The candidate of the Republican party will win the presidency on
the first ballot," stated Vazken Khachikyan, head of the state social
services insurance fund and Republican party member.

In his opinion, this would not occur only if a major, unforeseen event
of some kind came to pass. "I come to this conclusion from my meetings
with the people, as well as our candidates capabilities. No one has had
such an enviable position has not happened in the past," he underlined.

Returning to the question of if the proposed 60% raise in pensions is
merely a pre-election promise, Khachikyan responded that this was in
fact a part of his party’s program, and the party is only following
up on this issue. "We, as opposed to Dashnaktsutyun, have presented
real numbers, and there is no pre-election promise taking place here,"
he said in closing.

Tadevosyan said.

He said that annual volume of payments for serving these cards equals

Transeuro Energy Corp Announced Natural Gas Exploration In Armenia

TRANSEURO ENERGY CORP ANNOUNCED NATURAL GAS EXPLORATION IN ARMENIA

PanARMENIAN.Net
18.09.2007 17:29 GMT+04:00

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Transeuro Energy Corp announced the commencement of
drilling operations in Armenia for natural gas exploration, Trading
Markets reported.

Drilling has started on the Karmir prospect in the Armavir region
of Block 2, Armenia. Karmir-1 is the first exploration well to be
drilled in the country for ten years.

The well is targeting two horizons in the Karmir gas prospect, the
Lower Sand Clay (LSC) and the Lower Multicoloured Suite (LMS), and
is planned to have a total depth of 2200 meters. Drilling operations
will be followed by flow-testing should hydrocarbons be discovered.

The well is located less than 3km from a new gas pipeline route forming
part of a recently installed domestic gas distribution system, and
the Company is in discussion with the Government of Armenia regarding
early hook-up of the well in the event of a commercial discovery.

Harold Hemmerich, President and CEO, Transeuro Energy Corp. commented,
"I am very pleased that Karmir-1 has spudded. The Company has entered
an exciting operational phase and is now simultaneously drilling in
Canada, Armenia and Ukraine, and is planning a drilling operation in
PNG. The drilling results are keenly anticipated and will generate
important information for the Company."

"For the first time in Armenia’s history we are launching exploration
with all necessary equipment.

After a thorough examination of the facts we concluded that the
possibility of finding gas is rated 50 per cent against 50 per cent
of water. Huge amount of work should be carried out to explore gas
and oil in Armenia. Nevertheless, we are hopeful that our efforts
will be a success. Late October-early November we will say whether
Armenia has gas or it doesn’t," said head of the Transeuro Energy
Armenian branch Mike Smith.

Transeuro Energy Corp. is involved in the acquisition of petroleum and
natural gas rights, the exploration for, and development and production
of crude oil, condensate and natural gas. The Company’s properties
are located in Canada, Armenia, Papua New Guinea and Ukraine.

OSKANIAN: OSCE WILL DECIDE LEVEL OF NEXT MEETINGS

PanARMENIAN.Net
18.09.2007 17:39 GMT+04:00

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ No agreement on a presidential meeting was achieved
upon the outcomes of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs’ visit, Armenian
Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian told reporters September 18.

"The meetings with the Co-chairs were productive but a number of
uncoordinated issues are still on the agenda. These were discussed
during the meeting with Armenian President Robert Kocharian, who
presented his standpoint. Presently, the Co-chairs are in Baku to
listen to President Ilham Aliyev," he said.

"If the mediators catch a likeness in Aliyev and Kocharian’s positions,
they will think over the further optimal steps. We have to wait
for the outcomes of the Baku meetings and then the Co-chairs will
decide whether to hold meetings at the level of Foreign Ministers or
Presidents. However, their decision may be different," the Minister
resumed, IA Regnum reports.

Relics In Prime Minister’s Words

RELICS IN PRIME MINISTER’S WORDS

The public memorized Serge Sargsyan’s recent interview on TV for the
statement on the heaven and hell. The prime minister thereby reminded
or notified the businessmen that "having much money does not mean
they will go to heaven and not to hell."

On September 17 the reporters asked Galust Sahakyan hosted at the
Friday Club for a news conference whether our members of parliament,
oligarchs will be going to heaven or hell and where Serge Sargsyan
will be going. With everyone around laughing, Galust Sahakyan listened
to the question seriously, but the answer began humorously: "I will
answer humorously. The prime minister has nowhere to go, he decides
who goes to heaven and who goes to hell," Galust Sahakyan says.

Then he went on seriously. "Now I will be more serious. It was not
just a statement. I hope it will be so. We already, the government,
has estimated the GDP, and tax collections. Hence, it is one of the
important programs today, of the government, especially of the prime
minister. We proceed from this to say that the budget will total 2.5
billion, we proceed from this to say, as he described, that we will
have better Armenia. Without struggling, without attaining, it will
be impossible. I want to say that these are not void words meant to
mislead the society. Today these steps are made, and the society
will soon feel the results," Galust Sahakyan says, stating that a
businessman should pay taxes to feel like a partner of the government.

"This is a political credo, and this strategy will produce results
which will be tangible," Galust Sahakyan says.

He disagreed that the prime minister’s interview marked a program
but he said it contained relics marking future developments.
