Head of the People’s Party of Armenia, Member of Parliament, ANC,
Stepan Demirchyan thinks everything is well written in the government’s
program, but the same government had the same program last time and
failed it.

Stepan Demirchyan says that in the result of the activities of the
current authorities, the large part of the population appeared in an
unsolvable situation. The rich are getting richer, the poor- poorer.

We couldn’t vote in favor of this program since the government has
failed its previous program. Since the staff of the government is
almost the same, we can expect almost no changes in its activities,
said Stepan Demirchyan.

Azerbaijan sends reps of indigenous nations to the line of contact

Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan: Azerbaijan sends representatives of
indigenous nations to the line of contact

Azerbaijan declared independence without holding a referendum, as it
was afraid of the reaction of the indigenous nations living on its
territory. Despite the Azerbaijani pressures, under the conditions of
Internet accessibility those nations manage to express their protest
against the posture of Azerbaijani authorities.

Azerbaijan deliberately persecutes all those who dare express their
protest and hint that Armenians should not be conceived as rivals.
Azerbaijanis send representatives of those indigenous nations to the
line of contact, which is a purposeful step. Thus, Azerbaijan makes
its enemies clash with its other, and makes this serve its interests.

Political scientist Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan draws attention to the
fact that event the word `Talish’ is banned in Azerbaijan, and recalls
that last year the leaders of the indigenous nations urged their youth
not to go to the line of contact and not to fight against Armenians.

The indigenous nations living in Azerbaijan demand autonomy inside the
country. Moreover, a few days ago the issue of independence of
indigenous nations was raised at a conference at Moscow’s President
Hotel. The statement was met with ovations in Moscow and with arrests
in Baku.

Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan is assured that escalation is inevitable. The
political scientist keeps in touch with representatives of indigenous
nations of Azerbaijan and convenes periodic discussions. He suggests
opening of representations of Azerbaijan’s indigenous nations in
Armenia.

Hail is considered the number-one enemy of viticulture for several
villages of Armenia’s Tavush Region.

`Our village has always suffered from hail; natural disasters are
unpredictable,’ Aygehovit village prefect Levon Grigoryan told
Armenian News-NEWS.am, and added that the village has a population of
3,700, its main employment is agriculture and cattle breeding, and the
village has 103 hectares of vineyards.

`First and foremost we need to develop agriculture. It is impossible
for everyone in the village to be involved in agriculture, but it
should be done so that every inch of land is developed,’ said
Grigoryan.

He informed that virtually all of the village gardens will be
irrigated with the help of the `Hayastan’ All-Armenian Fund, and all
that remains is the official opening of the irrigation system.

`We cannot solve problems without artificial irrigation,’ noted Levon Grigoryan.

And Berd branch of the Brandy Factory likewise is providing
considerable assistance to Aygehovit village. The Factory gives
chemical agents and syringe equipment to the villagers every year, so
they may receive normal harvest in fall and sell it to the Factory.

The village head assured they are expecting a rich grape harvest this
year, if, of course, hail does not destroy it.

Interview with Armenian winner of Children’s New Wave – 2011

June 23, 2012 | 02:04

Armenian News-NEWS.am presents an interview with the winner of
Children’s New Wave Song Contest 2011, Armenian Andranik Alexanyan.
Winner of Children’s New Wave – 2011, `Person of the Year’ according
to the Ukrainian version of Komsomolskaya Pravda, participant of
Junior Eurovision 2009, Andranik Alexanyan gives solo concerts in his
14 years.

Despite his serious illness (he has achondroplasia – dwarfism) the boy
moves towards his dream of singing on big stages. Andranik came to
Yerevan in order to participate in the Children’s Award Ceremony as an
honorary guest. He told the reporter of Armenian News-NEWS.am about
his plans for the future.

Currently you are in the phase of teenage voice mutation. How is
everything going, are you allowed to sing? As far as I know you have a
rather busy tour schedule.

Yes, the mutation will go on for another 4 months, and then everything
will be normal again. I am allowed to sing but not much. I have a
rather busy schedule. I leave for Latvia from here and then to Italy.

You participated in many contests. Which one was the most important for you?

Of course, the New Wave. Even the participation in the Junior
Eurovision was not as important. After the New Wave contest I became
famous and received many invitations.

Who is your producer?

My mother is my producer. From one hand it’s good, but on the other
hand not so much.

How do you create your repertoire?

I like pop, classical music, songs with a large range, where you can
demonstrate your voice. I sing what I like. I don’t like rock.

You have announced many times that you dream of singing at the La
Scala. Are your plans the same?

Yes, my dream might become true soon. Next year I’m finishing 9th
grade and I have to decide what I’ll do next. I would like to study in
Italy.

You have a song entitled `Two Fatherlands’. What did you want to say
with that song and did you write it?

Yes, I am the author of the song. I wanted to say that Armenia, as
well as Ukraine are my fatherlands and none of them must be neglected.

I know that after winning the New Wave some the famous Ukrainian and
Russian artists watch over you. With whom are you closest? Who gives
you advices?

Yes, Phillip Kirkorov supports me. I often meet Ani Lorak during concerts.

You were to undergo medical examination in Germany and
Saint-Petersburg. Are there any news? What do the doctors say?

I underwent an examination in Petersburg. The doctors don’t guarantee
that after an operation I won’t be chained to a chair. I will not
decide upon an operation without guarantees. I did not go to Germany.
A day in the hospital there costs 2,000 and I have to stay there a
few weeks. We do not have that much money yet.

Do you visit Armenia often?

No, the last time I was here 11 years ago. But I will visit if there
are invitations. But, even without invitations I will visit my
grandparents in Hoktemberyan.
