PETROS MAKEYAN: “VARTAN OSKANIAN CANNOT BE OPPOSITION LEADER”

03:50 pm | Today | Politics

Vartan Oskanian, Armenia’s ex-foreign minister and an MP of the
Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), cannot be the new leader of the
opposition, says Petros Makeyan, a senior representative of the
Armenian National Congress (HAK).

“Oskanian still has to be held accountable to the National Security
Council,” he said adding that a new political center is needed,
but not around Oskanian.

Makeyan says that Oskanian should bear responsibility for putting
hundreds of political prisoners to jail.

“If the HAK decides to support Oskanian, it will stop being the HAK,”
Makeyan stressed.

Asked whether in yesterday’s speech of HAK Leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan,
he felt some hidden support for the candidacy of Oskanian, Mr. Makeyan
said, “There was remark in the sub-context.”

Asked whether he saw any message addressed to Nikol Pashinyan who also
opposes the cooperation between the HAK and BHK, Mr. Makelyan said,
“Not only Pashinyan, but also our party is against the cooperation.”

FISCHER DRINGT IN ARMENIEN AUF KARABACH-LOSUNG: FISCHER URGES ARMENIA FOR KARABAKH SOLUTION

Armeniern bewohnten Region Berg-Karabach sagte Sargsyan, Grundlagen fur

Wirtschaftsbereich unterzeichnet.
