BAKU: European Parliamentarians Protest Armenia’s Position On Ramil

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENTARIANS PROTEST ARMENIA’S POSITION ON RAMIL SAFAROV’S EXTRADITION

MilAz.info
Sept 10 2012
Azerbaijan

European parliamentarians seriously protest the position of Armenia
on the Ramil Safarov’s extradition.

The members of the German Bundestag and UK House of Lords strongly
condemned the position of official Yerevan on this issue.

The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) told APA that O. Gutting said,
according to European legislation, there aren’t any doubts in legality
of Ramil Safarov’s extradition: “That’s why we call the Armenian
government and the Armenian Diaspora to reduce their critical tone
on our partner Hungary. Armenia’s claims against Hungary and its
accusation of the violation of international rules are false and
baseless.

The calling for protest actions in front of Hungarian embassies will
facilitate new conflict situations and this isn’t the right way from
the point of view of confidence increasing and objective evaluation
of Ramil Safarov’s extradition to Azerbaijan.

Such statements of Armenian president Serz Sargsyan prevent the
peace in the Southern Caucasus. Despite flaming this issue, Armenia
must recognize the legality of this extradition and return back to
the negotiations.

The member of Germany Bundestag, the chairman of the committee on
foreign affairs of current fraction of Christian Democratic and
Christian-Social Union Philipp Mißfelder expressed his opinion on
the issue of Ramil Safarov’s extradition to Azerbaijan.

The European Azerbaijan Society reports that Philipp Mißfelder
said that Hungary as a European Union member is attached to UN’s
legislation, that’s why there aren’t any doubts in the legality
of Ramil Safarov’s extradition to Azerbaijan: “The stoppage of
Armenia-Hungary diplomatic relations due to this issue is an
unacceptable step made by the Armenian government. “The claims of
Armenian government that the Ramil Safarov’s extradition to Azerbaijan
by our close partner Hungary endangers the peaceful negotiation
process between Azerbaijan and Armenia” do not responds the law and
legislation standards in Azerbaijan.

The stoppage of diplomatic relation with Hungary endangers the purposes
of the Armenian government in approaching the UN”.

Philipp Mißfelder considers that, in fact, the elections in the
so-called Nagorno Karabakh Republic that were held on July 19, 2012
seriously spoiled the efforts made by international communities on the
way for creation of normal neighboring relations and establishment of
peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia: “One-side result of the so-called
elections hampered the possibilities on the way of peaceful solution
of Nagorno Karabakh conflict”.

The Member of UK House of Lords Lord Ken Maginnis, commented on the
aggressive position of the Armenian government on the Ramil Safarov’s
extradition.

The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) told APA that Ken Maginnis noted
that everything, which will cause tension in this sensitive region,
must be prevented. “The release of Ramil Safarov, who convicted to
8 years for killing an officer of Armenian Army, caused an offense
in Armenia and Armenian Diaspora. However Armenians must accept
that Azerbaijanis and Turks became enraged on release of Armenians,
who were sentenced due to murder and terrorism. The incidents such
as an attack to the department of the Turkish Airline at the airport
of Paris led to death of Turkish and European citizens.

“Despite it, neither the international community nor the Western
press condemned these terrorists release.”

Ken Maginnis noted that Armenians continue to threaten Turkish and
Azerbaijani diplomats: “The tension through the contact line have
increased recently. I called the sides to calm down and try to avoid
confrontation.”

Lord Laird, member of UK House of Lords, also shares the same opinion.

He noted that the release of Ramil Safarov after 8 years caused
a strict reaction in Armenia: “There is a danger that reaction of
Armenians will go beyond all limits” In response to Safarov’s pardoning
, they threaten to start a new war in Nagorno-Karabakh, to suspend
their diplomatic relations with Hungary and kill Azerbaijanis living
in Europe. But it was not reported that Jabrayil region, where Safarov
was born, has been under occupation for 20 years. ”

Lord Kilclooney, member of UK House of Lords, also commented on
the issue: “Ramil Safarov, who killed an officer of Armenian Army,
was extradited from Hungary to Azerbaijan and released. Obviously,
Armenians themselves have released their citizens who committed
terrorist acts abroad. Instead of calling Armenians to reduce the
tension Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, intends to start a new war.

We have already seen how the “frozen” conflicts blaze up. The Armenian
president who has felt the taste of the war during the occupation
of Nagorno Karabakh should understand that a return to hostility can
have horrible consequences for both sides.

Lord Kilclooney said the importance of neutral participators in the
peace process as mediatior of the Belfast Agreement: “The statements
of the OSCE Minsk Group don’t give hopes for future.”

NATO: Opening remarks by NATO Secr. Gen. Rasmussen at joint press po

NATO
Sept 7 2012

Opening remarks by NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, at
the joint press point with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev,
at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, Baku, Azerbaijan

It is a great pleasure to make my first visit to Baku. This shows that
NATO is and will remain committed to the South Caucasus region. And
Azerbaijan is an important partner for NATO.

Our relations are developing steadily and positively. We appreciate
the steadfast support provided by your troops in Afghanistan. They are
doing an excellent job and you can be very proud of them.

We also appreciate the political support to NATO operations, through
over flight and transit lines. And we are grateful for the generous
financial contribution to the training of Afghan security forces.

Together, we have agreed to continue to support the Afghans after the
end of our ISAF operation in 2014. I am very pleased to hear from
President Aliyev that Azerbaijan will be part of that support, which
is vital for the stability of Afghanistan and of the whole region.

NATO is assisting Azerbaijan with defence and security sector reform
and we encourage you to keep up the momentum in this key area. We are
also helping to remove huge quantities of landmines and free up
hundreds of hectares of land. This is one of the biggest such projects
in the world – and it is of real benefit to people.

So we have a strong framework for dialogue and cooperation. And we are
determined to build on our success. To deepen the practical experience
that our military forces have gained by working together in
Afghanistan over the years. And to work together in dealing with the
security challenges of the 21st century, which all face in a
globalised world.

So Azerbaijan is a valuable partner for NATO. And NATO is a valuable
partner for Azerbaijan. We have an opportunity to build a solid,
long-term partnership. And it’s an opportunity I am convinced we must
seize.

«objectives» dans les nouveaux manuels.

Israeli teens are the third happiest group of adolescents in the
world, according to the findings of the Happiness Index, the results
of which will be released later this month by the World Health
Organization.

Israel tied for third place with Holland, Iceland and Spain, being
outranked only by Armenian and Macedonian kids.

The study showed that 51% of Israeli girls reported being happy,
compared to 47% of boys. Israeli Arabs were even happier than their
Jewish counterparts, with 55% of girls and 47% of boys saying they are
happy.

Ironically, Israeli teens also ranked as the fifth angriest group of
adolescents in the world, ranking behind Turkey, Greece, Romania, and
Armenia.

Countries with the lowest happiness rankings are Turkey, Ukraine,
Poland, Latvia, and Canada.

The WHO research was compiled over four years and across 34 countries.
