The Armenian young star who scored Italy: “Now I
just want to go ahead and Shakhtar in the Champions League »

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, 23, new star of Armenia and Shakhtar Donetsk, has
a beautiful reality that is very (“Shakhtar, and move forward in the
Champions League”) and a dream: “To play for Juve? It ‘a great team.
Who knows, one day. I’m still young. ”

Meanwhile, he sliced the defense of Italy, marking them a great goal
in Yerevan, having already embarrassed just Juventus in the Champions
League group. Still face Juve in Donetsk: “And on Dec. 5 could be very
cold.” Shy and polite, speak good English and good French, “learned
when my father, Hamlet, went to play in France.” Hamlet, in the late
’80s, he was one of the best players Armenians, but went just 33 years
for a tumor, Henrikh when he was seven. Ten years later, the boy is
already an important part of Pyunik Yerevan, with whom he won four
championships Armenians. He takes the Metallurg Donetsk, “because I
always choose the team where I can play.” It’s good, if in 2010 the
citizens take the cousins, far richer, Shakhtar for 7.5 million. The
rest is history, as the 15 goals in 11 matches the beginning of the
Ukrainian league. Until the network against Italy, which is the Juve
defense.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, as has been scoring Italy?

“Beautiful, great joy. Even if it was not enough to give a joy to all
our fans who came to the stage for this great game. Too bad, I’m
sorry. But Italy is a great team. ”

I taly, Juventus, the Champions League, the now familiar throughout
Europe: What’s it like?

“Plan. I’m not a star. ”

Would you like to play in Italy?

(Smile). “Well, there are big clubs, and is a great league. However,
if one wants me to have to talk with Shakhtar at the end of the
season. ”

And in Juve?

“Great team, I’ve seen well in the Champions League. Although we had a
great game. ”

We would play?

“Who knows, maybe one day, I’m still young. But now in my head I just
want to go ahead and Shakhtar in the Champions League. ”

Who goes there in the group?

“Sorry, but Juventus and Chelsea do not care. Just go ahead Shakhtar “.

What counts when it comes to choose the future?

“It ‘s always been a dilemma, but I always choose the team in which
they are certain to be the owner.”

Lucescu said: “This looks like Kaka.” What do you think?

“That’s not a bad comparison. Seriously, Kaka is a fantastic player.
But he has his own characteristics, I do my own. ”

Half point or striker declines his job.

“Forward, forward: I like to play near the door.”

But you see it appear almost everywhere: why?

“Before Lucescu made me play back. And now I repeat: “You have to help
out in midfield.” Not a problem, if this is the team. ”

The player of Juve, who do you like most?

“Pirlo. But Vidal and Vucinic. Very good. ”

But put them in a crisis.

“We played a good game of Turin: Lucescu had prepared us very well.
And just not won. ”

The idol when you were a child?

“Zidane. A big “.

He knows where he played?

“Yes, yes. Even in Juve. ”

Erzurum’ Avetisyan said.

Turkish press tried to report that Turkey forced Armenian airplane to
land but Armenian NA deputy Vahan Hovhannisyan highlighted that the

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 15, ARMENPRESS. Interviews by Henrikh Mkhitaryan and
Roman Berezovskiy were placed in UEFA official website and the video
of the interviews was given to Football Federation of Armenia. As
Football Federation of Armenia informed “Armepress”, as a result of
cooperation of UEFA and Football Federation of Armenia UEFA Media Day
pictured and made a video record of players of Armenian National Team
in Malta on September 8. Media group also taped training of Armenian
National Teal.

Interviews by Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Roman Berezovskiy are available here.

Armenia duo Henrik Mkhitaryan and Roman Berezovski spoke to UEFA.com
to express their admiration for Sargis Hovsepyan after the defender
recently won the last of his 131 caps. This is a brave new era for
Armenia as the national team grapples with life after Sargis
Hovsepyan, the side’s captain and ever-present figurehead who called
time on his professional career aged 39 last month. Modest and
unassuming, Armenia’s most-capped player made 131 appearances for his
country. His final outing came in September’s 1-0 loss to Bulgaria in
FIFA World Cup qualifying, and he was typically understated about his
career as he stepped away from the limelight. “I don’t think I’m a
legend,” he said. “I simply did my job.” After making his debut in
Armenia’s first international against Moldova in 1992, and
establishing himself among the favourites at FC Pyunik and FC Zenit St
Petersburg, the central defender was a key figure in some of the
national team’s proudest moments. “There were periods when no one
believed in our national team,” goalkeeper Roman Berezovski told
UEFA.com, having first played alongside Hovsepyan for Armenia in 1996.
“People believe in us now and have great expectations. Everyone has
high expectations.” Those raised expectations are a testament to
Hovsepyan’s career, influence and legacy, and Henrik Mkhitaryan holds
his retired skipper in similarly high regard. For the exciting young
FC Shakhtar Donetsk schemer, Hovsepyan remains nothing short of
Armenia’s “eternal leader”.

Armenian Harvest Promotion Center (AHPC) has initiated the small
greenhouses development process, which aims to enable individual
farmers and farmer households to construct and operate high tech,
energy saving and high yield film (plastic) greenhouses.

For this purpose AHPC works with French, Dutch, and Israeli greenhouse
construction companies. AHPC has already received construction
proposals for several types of greenhouses of 400 and more square
meters. Depending on the size and type of the greenhouse, the price
for 1 square meter will vary from $12- $30.

Works are also carried out for installment of drip irrigation, heating
as well as alternative heating systems, which will reduce heating,
irrigation and fertilizer usage costs thus increasing greenhouses’
effectiveness and competitiveness. The mentioned systems can also be
installed in earlier built greenhouses.

The CEO of AHPC, Aleksan Arakelyan mentioned that `We are ready to
support farmers to construct new plastic greenhouses and install drip
irrigation and heating systems in existing ones.’

Italy labors to 3-1 win in Armenia in qualifier

YEREVAN Armenia

Italy veteran Andrea Pirlo scored one goal and created another as the
Azzurri labored to a 3-1 win over Armenia in World Cup qualifying
Friday.

Pirlo fired Italy ahead in the 11th minute from the penalty spot
following Hrayr Mkoyan’s handball. But Armenia leveled in the 28th
through Shakhtar Donetsk’s impressive Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Daniele De Rossi headed Italy back in front shortly after the hour
mark before Pablo Osvaldo sealed the result with his third goal in as
many qualifying matches.

“We suffered a bit with a few of their counterattacks and we had a
couple of individual problems, but I’m happy,” Italy coach Cesare
Prandelli said. “I won’t stop saying it, this is a particularly tricky
group, we had a great game and played with a lot of character.”

It is Italy’s 33rd match without defeat in World Cup and European
Championship qualifying matches.

Italy was without Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli, who
although initially included in the starting lineup Thursday had not
recovered from flu in time. He was replaced by Juventus forward
Sebastian Giovinco.

Italy started brightly and could have been ahead in the fifth minute
but Armenia goalkeeper Roman Berezovsky did brilliantly at full
stretch to keep out Pirlo’s free kick, which seemed destined for the
top right corner.

Riccardo Montolivo did well minutes later to carve out some space and
cross in towards Claudio Marchisio but the ball was marginally too far
away for the Juventus midfielder.

Italy was ahead shortly afterwards when it was awarded a penalty.

Domenico Criscito back in the squad for the first time since being
questioned over a match-fixing scandal raced down the left flank
before putting in a cross that Montolivo sidefooted straight at the
goalkeeper. The rebound fell back to Montolivo, whose effort was
blocked by Hrayr Mkoyan’s arm.

Pirlo stepped up and sent Berezovsky the wrong way, firing low into
the bottom left corner.

Armenia leveled almost immediately but Gianluigi Buffon did well to
tip Aras Ozbiliz’s free kick over the bar.

It was back on level terms when Mkhitaryan collected the ball near the
halfway line, evaded Andrea Barzagli and raced away from Italy
defender Leonardo Bonucci before firing into the bottom right corner.

The in-form Mkhitaryan is currently the leading scorer in the
Ukrainian league, with 14 goals in 11 matches.

The Italy players were furious because they wanted the game to have
been stopped just before Mkhitaryan got the ball because of a clash of
heads between Armenia midfielder Davit Manoyan and Italy defender
Christian Maggio.

“When two players clash heads, you have to stop the game. The referee
didn’t do that and that’s why I protested,” Prandelli said.

Armenia could have taken the lead seconds after halftime but Artur
Edigaryan’s fierce effort flew over the bar after a lucky deflection
from Criscito.

It went even closer moments later when Giovinco turned in the area to
carve out some space for himself but fired over.

Italy could have had a penalty when Karlen Lazarian appeared to
handle in the area but the referee waved play on.

Armenia almost took the lead when Mkhitaryan raced down the right
flank and crossed towards an unmarked Yura Movsisyan whose volley was
brilliantly saved by Buffon.

Italy restored its advantage shortly afterwards when De Rossi headed
in Pirlo’s cross off the underside of the crossbar.

Armenia battled hard for the equalizer and Movsisyan would have had an
almost certain goal after a mistake by Bonucci but for a sliding,
last-ditch tackle by Maggio.

Italy sealed the result when Osvaldo headed in De Rossi’s free kick.

Armenian patriarch of Jerusalem dies at 93

(AFP) / 12 October 2012

JERUSALEM – The Armenian patriarch of Jerusalem, Torkom Manoogian,
one of the custodians of Christianity’s holiest sites, died on Friday
at the age of 93, Armenian sources said.

A respected figure among Christians of the Holy Land, Manoogian had
been in a coma since January after a stroke. He headed the Armenian
Orthodox communities in Israel, the Palestinian territories and
Jordan.

Manoogian was born on February 16, 1919 in a refugee camp for
survivors of the Armenian genocide located near Baquba in the Iraqi
desert.

He studied theology at the seminary of the Armenian patriarchate of
Saint-Jacques in Jerusalem and was ordained in 1939.

In 1946, he was transferred to the United States, where he served as
New York’s Armenian bishop and then primate of the Eastern Diocese of
the Armenian Church of America.

He was known in Jerusalem for his passion for music.

The Armenian Orthodox Church of Jerusalem, a monastic order, is one of
the custodians of the Holy Places, along with the Greek Orthodox and
Roman Catholic churches as well as the smaller Syriac and Coptic
churches.

There are currently an estimated 2,000 Armenians living in Jerusalem,
compared to 16,000 in 1948 when the state of Israel was founded.

With a presence in the Holy Land dating back to the 5th century AD,
the community is active in commerce, trading and pottery in the
Armenian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem.

The patriarch’s funeral is to be held on October 22 at the Armenian
cemetery on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. His successor will be elected in
40 days, an appointment which needs the approval of Israel and the
king of Jordan.

Nareh Arghamanyan wins top prize in Montreal competition

Boston – When she takes the stage at the Calderdwood Hall of the
Isabella Steward Gardner Museum in Boston on Sunday, October 21, Nareh
Arghamanyan would be making her professional debut. It won’t be the
23-year-old pianist’s first concert in Boston, however.

She played a recital in 2004 at age 14 at the Longy School of Music in
Cambridge, MA, under the auspices of Hamazkayin Armenian Cultural and
Educational Association. And in 2008, after capturing the first prize
at the coveted International Montreal Music Competition, she performed
with the Boston Pops for the Armenian Night at the Pops.

Born in Vanadzor, Armenia, Arghamanyan has played the piano since the
age of five. Three years later she began her studies with Alexander
Gurgenov at the Tchaikovsky Music School for Talented Children in
Yerevan. In 2004 she was the youngest student to be admitted to the
University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where she studied
with Heinz Medjimorec and continues chamber music studies with Avo
Kouyoumdjan. She has attended the prestigious summer studies program
both at Tanglewood in Massachusetts and the Marlboro Music Festival in
Vermont. Since 2010, she has been working with Arie Vardi in Hannover,
Germany. Nareh is the recipient of numerous awards and prizes,
including the 2007 Piano Campus International Competition in Pontoise,
France, and the Jose Roca Competition in Valencia, Spain.

Now under professional management on both sides of the Atlantic,
Arghamanyan is in her 2nd season of artistic engagements, a busy
schedule of recitals and soloist appearances around the world.
Highlights include a recent performance of the Saint-Saens’ second
piano concerto with the Tonhalle Orchestra of Zurich with Sir Neville
Marriner, and upcoming appearances with the Gewandhaus Orchestra of
Leipzig under Riccardo Chailly, and performances with Oslo Opera
Orchestra, Bern Symphony Orchestra as well as the Vancouver; Columbus,
Ohio, and Utah Symphony Orchestras. Last season, she appeared as
soloist with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Chamber
Orchestra and in recitals in such esteemed venues as the Berlin
Philharmonie and Tonhalle Zurich.

Nareh’s performances have prompted enthusiastic response. The
Independent of London commented: “Arghamanyan’s playing is compulsive,
emotional yet remarkably ‘complete’ for such a young musician… –
sensitive, unaffected, genuine.” And the Los Angeles Times raved about
her “clarity of articulation, firm tone and emotional restraint.”

In April 2012 Nareh Arghamanyan released her debut recording with solo
works by Rachmaninoff for the Dutch label Pentatone. This is followed
by a Liszt concerto disc (to be released this month) with the Berlin
Radio Symphony Orchestra and Alain Altingolu. Previously the Analekta
label released a disc of the sonatas by Rachmaninoff and Liszt to
great acclaim. In the liner notes for the solo Rachmaninoff album,
Nareh writes about her convictions and affinity for the composer’s
music: “I think American writer Kurt Vonnegut may have been inspired
by Rachmaninoff’s artistry when he prescribed his own epitaph `the
only proof he needed for the existence of God was Music.’ If my
performances can elicit even a single soul to ponder the same
thoughts, I would feel gratified.”

Sunday’s performance at the Gardner museum will feature music of Bach
(partita No. 2 in c-minor), the Fantasiestucke Op. 12 by Schumann and
a set of Etude Tableaux by Sergei Rachmaninoff. More information about
the concert can be found at

Ms. Arghamanyan repeats her recital program in Philadelphia on October
24 at the American Philosophical Society, presented by the
Philadelphia Chamber Music Society (), and in New
York on October 28 at Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theatre
().
