Baku. Anakhanum Hidayatova – APA. “Launch of Yerevan-Van flight is a
private, not the governmental initiative. It shouldn’t be forgotten,”
Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Ismayil Alper Coskun told journalists,
APA reports.

He said that Turkey supports Azerbaijan in all issues: “Everybody
knows Turkey’s position on the Karabakh problem. There is no ground
to question any change in the position of our country. I reiterate
that this is an initiative of a private company and it has nothing
to do with the position of the state. Turkey-Azerbaijan relations are
so strong that launch of any flight can not disrupt these relations.”

Ankara: Trt’s Historical Turkish Music Archive Goes Digital

TRT’S HISTORICAL TURKISH MUSIC ARCHIVE GOES DIGITAL

Hurriyet Daily News, Turkey
March 18 2013

ISTANBUL – Anatolia News Agency

The historical archive of Turkey’s state-owned television channel
(TRT) has been transferred to a digital environment. The digital
archive and website was launched on March 16 at
TRT Istanbul Radio in Harbiye.

TRT General Director İbrahim Å~^ahin said that work had started over
four years ago and 165,000 pages had been reverted to digital forms
with some difficulty. “This 760-volume archive, which is unique in the
world, is now in the service of our country and the world music
market,” he said.

Å~^ahin said that the archive would be followed from all around the
world, adding: “One of the most important parts of this work is that
we continue this activity in 10 languages. It will be online in
Turkish and English, and we will [post information] about music events
on the website. The reason why we also made it in English is that some
parts of these notes have been interpreted as chants and aria music in
churches. People of Armenian origin will be able to reach their own
music thanks to this structure. We have received good reactions from
these people and it makes us very happy. Our work will also reach
people in eight other [common] languages. The work is not only limited
to transfer notes to the Internet environment but to bring the
heritage of the Ottoman Empire to people.”

He said that anyone would be able to access the website and see the
work, and subscribers would be able to conduct more detailed research
on the website.

TRT Music Department Chair Deniz Cakmakoglu said that over 75 percent
of TRT’s programs were on music, adding that the value of the archive
had great importance in Turkish culture. “We plan to open our entire
archive to the world through the Internet soon,” she said.

Turkish Ambassador To Azerbaijan: There Is No Reason To Worry About

TURKISH AMBASSADOR TO AZERBAIJAN: THERE IS NO REASON TO WORRY ABOUT YEREVAN-VAN-YEREVAN FLIGHT

ARMINFO
Monday, March 18, 17:28

Azerbaijani media and society know well the position of Turkey on the
Nagorno Karabakh conflict and Armenia. However, Turkish ambassadors
to Azerbaijan have announced their positions on this up to now. The
Turkish President, Prime Minister, officials and the Speaker of the
Parliament have clearly announced their position on this issue.

Flights from Yerevan to Turkey are operated by private companies. As
media reports, these are commercial flights. Private companies have no
problems in Turkey in carrying out these activities,” said Turkish
ambassador to Azerbaijan Ismayil Alper Coskun while commenting
on Azerbaijani media reports on launching of Yerevan-Van flight,
APA reports.

Ambassador said that it is not right to issue statements that
commercial flights will change Turkey’s position on Nagorno Karabakh.

“No country supports Azerbaijan’s position on Nagorno Karabakh conflict
more than Turkey, which has closed its borders with Armenia.

I ask media also to highlight Turkey’s positive steps, not to confuse
the people. There is nothing to worry. Turkey’s position on Karabakh
problem, Armenia has not changed,” he said. The flights will be made
twice in a week, with the two-way ticket to cost $250.

Israel’s Claims To Armenia

ISRAEL’S CLAIMS TO ARMENIA
Igor Muradyan

17:02 18/03/2013
Story from Lragir.am News:

It is not a secret that Armenia and its foreign policy are focused
by Israel because from time to time but at a certain frequency the
“Armenian reality” gives a surprise to Israel.

The friends of Israel in the United States and Europe are
intensively and shamelessly torpedoing the efforts of Armenia and
Armenian organizations whose goals and interests have nothing to
do with the interests of Israel and the Jewish communities. The
policy of insisting on the exclusivity of the Holocaust stems from
the worldview of exclusivity of the security goals of Israel as a
historical phenomenon. Now lots of Jews of different countries of the
West and Israel understand that inhumanity of such an approach leads
to collapse of the social and cultural existence of Jews. However,
the voice of these people irritates those who continue to rule the
politics of Israel and Jewish community organizations.

Recently, for whatever reasons, the Regnum Information and Analytical
Service has published the thoughts of the ex-ambassador of Israel
to Armenia and Georgia, professor of the Jewish university Baruch
Ben Narnia on the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Turkey
and Iran. Considering that Baruch Ben Narnia is a diplomat and put
his answers to the questions in a highly delicate way, it should be
understood that the real position of Israel on Armenia looks quite
different.

The Israeli professor thinks that the relations between Israel and
Azerbaijan regarding supply of modern arms are legitimate from the
point of view of international security interests. “High tech defense
systems of Israel worked out by us under permanent threat and with the
purpose of protecting our existence are highly popular and demanded
in lots of countries, including the United States, Russia, China,
France, the UK, Iran, Italy, Ukraine, etc. Israel is ready to supply
these technologies, with some restrictions and cautiousness, as well
as in compliance with international conventions and law, to countries
which are interested in our products, Azerbaijan, as well as Georgia,
are not an exception. However, deals on supply of arms and military
equipment are made in the result of negotiations that take into account
international norms. Israel is highly cautious about this issue and
refrains from supply of military technology and platforms that could be
used in military conflicts. Israeli arms are known all over the world,
even such countries as China, Russia and others, are interested.”

I wonder how Iran got on this list but apparently something else
is meant which does not fit the frame of ordinary relations, and on
the whole it looks like a provocation. But not this time. In fact,
there are no international sanctions and restrictions on the import of
arms by Azerbaijan. Besides, Russia also supplies arms and cooperates
closely with Israel over supply of arms.

Currently, Russia and Israel act together in regard to several issues
despite the efforts of Russia to observe traditions in regard to
Arab states. At the same time, none of the leading states of the
Euro-Atlantic community supplies weapons to Azerbaijan. Several
states supply arms to Azerbaijan. However, only Israel supplies modern
systems that could enable the security of its political centers and
infrastructures.

Everyone understands that Azerbaijan is an aggressive country which
speaks openly about its intentions. The West is interested in ensuring
security of oil production and transit facilities, and this policy
of Israel favors the West. Russia can put forth such an argument as
“if not us, others will supply weapons.”

Iran’s factor in supply of weapon to Azerbaijan appears to be demagogy
and speculations by Israel. Nobody believes and imagines military
aggression by Iran against Azerbaijan unless it is provoked, and
it does not look credible under the current balance of forces and
phobias of the countries of this region.

All this is clear. However, at this stage Israel has apparently decided
to put forth political claims. “Close relations between Armenia and
Iran, frozen relations with Turkey and the military conflict with
Azerbaijan, as is seen, are not helpful to improvement of relations
with Israel.” In other words, the problem of distancing Armenia and
Iran is suggested which even the United States is not going to solve.

It is clear that the United States and leading European states are
interested in supporting and developing relations between Armenia
and Iran because the geopolitical reality is ambiguous. Israel also
understands that if Armenia comes up with the issue of supply of arms
to Azerbaijan and generally facilitation of the arms race in the South
Caucasus on the international arena, it will be an anti-Russian step.

However, one way or another, it will have to be done, and it will
raise the international reputation of Armenia indeed.

Israel’s accusation of a policy of facilitation of military
aggression in the South Caucasus may trace to the legitimacy of
another circumstance – overcoming restrictions on supply of any
kind of weapon to Israel’s rivals. It may be done in accordance with
interesting scenarios.

Nevertheless, one wonders why Regnum decided to publish this interview
now. Obviously, this article is not isolated from the general flow of
information in Regnum intended to intimidate Armenia. (By the way, any
Russian weapon in the Armenian territory may be broken or liquidated
any time. Remember the forgotten incident at the artillery warehouse
of the 7th army of the united armed forces of CIS member states at
the village of Balahovit, Armenia, on the eve of the military action
in Shushi.)

Armenia To Remove Regulations Hindering Free Trade From Cis Free Tra

ARMENIA TO REMOVE REGULATIONS HINDERING FREE TRADE FROM CIS FREE TRADE ZONE AGREEMENT

YEREVAN, March 18. /ARKA/. Armenia intends to initiate deepening
of the CIS Free Trade Zone agreement, particularly removing all the
current regulations which restrict the free trade, Armenian Ministry
of Economy Tigran Davtyan said.

“As it is highlighted in the related article of the agreement, it is
necessary to start the process of bigger trade liberalization within
the agreement between the CIS republics,” he said Saturday at Economic
Aspects of the Eurasian Integration and Armenia conference.

Minister noted Free Trade Area agreement is a principally new document
that offers unique opportunities to develop trade and commercial
relations between the CIS states.

Economic Aspects of the Eurasian Integration and Armenia conference
was organized by Integration and Development organization. Economy
Minister of Armenia Tigran Davtyan, scientists, analysts from Russia,
Armenia and Belarus participated in the conference.

Davtyan told Novosti-Armenia agency that in compliance with the
agreement Yerevan is obliged to launch talks over removing the
regulations till April 18.

“It is a very serious problem, as there is a big number such
regulations, and Armenia possibly has the least number of them- just
one. By the end of the year such regulation related to cigarettes,
will have been removed in accordance with our legislature. It means,
next year Armenia will have zero regulations hindering free trade,
and Armenia will be the only country to have no such regulations,”
the minister said.

“Free trade implies a zero regime, and the regulations imply some
related restrictions, non-free trade. And our initiative is to remove
them as earlier as possible, so as we can trade at zero duties,”
Davtyan added.

Minister also noted Armenia will seek to remove the regulations
related to export and import, particularly those of export as it of
more priority of the republic.

Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan
and Ukraine signed CIS Free Trade Zone Agreement on October 18, 2011.

Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, on their side, made a decision
to further discuss and evaluate the agreement.

The agreement will ensure all the necessary conditions for effective
operation of free trade within the CIS space as well as will foster
the further integration based on the norms of the World Labor
Organization. It will replace the existing agreements on bilateral
and multilateral free trade between the Commonwealth countries. -0-
