Les Alevis De La Partie Occupee De Chypre Manifestent Contre La Poli

LES ALEVIS DE LA PARTIE OCCUPEE DE CHYPRE MANIFESTENT CONTRE LA POLITIQUE D’ANKARA

Chypre

politiques.

BAKU: UK Believes In Peaceful Nagorno-Karabakh Settlement: MP

UK BELIEVES IN PEACEFUL NAGORNO-KARABAKH SETTLEMENT: MP

AzerNews, Azerbaijan

By Sara Rajabova

Great Britain believes in the peaceful settlement of the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, a British MP told journalists in Baku
November 4.

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict causes instability in the region,
member of the House of Lords of the British Parliament and Chairman
of Global Counsel Peter Mandelson said.

“Eliminating this instability through a peaceful settlement of the
conflict between the parties is of great importance,” Mandelson said.

“This mission was entrusted to the OSCE Minsk Group and we hope its
efforts in this direction will be successful,” he added.

Armenia captured Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts from
Azerbaijan in a war that followed the Soviet breakup in 1991. More than
20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and nearly 1 million were displaced
by the war.

Large-scale hostilities ended with a Russia-brokered ceasefire in
1994, but Armenia has continued its occupation in defiance of four
UN Security Council resolutions that call for an immediate and
unconditional withdrawal.

Peace talks mediated by Russia, France, and the US have produced no
results so far.

framework of joining the Customs Union.

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said in May that the Armenian government
will subsidize 30% of the price of gas. Later, Energy Minister Armen
Movsisyan said that the government is trying to involve Russia
in the question of subsidies, since it owns 80% of the company
“ArmRusgasprom.” In the summer of 2013 both sides discussed the
possibility of increasing the share of “Gazprom” in “ArmRosgazprom”
from 80% to 100%.

IRAN-ARMENIA TIES KEY TO REGIONAL PEACE: LARIJANI

Press TV, Iran
Nov 4 2013

Iran Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has stressed the importance of
bolstering amicable relations with Armenia as a key factor to regional
peace and stability.

“The expansion of friendly ties between Iran and Armenia will
strengthen bilateral cooperation and play a leading role in
establishing peace and stability in the region,” Larijani said in
a meeting with the visiting Head of the Armenia-Iran Parliamentary
Friendship Group Galust Sahakyan on Monday.

He urged both Tehran and Yerevan to make use of their great
capabilities to increase political and economic exchanges and expressed
Majlis support for enhanced bilateral cooperation in all fields,
particularly in parliamentary arena.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always put emphasis on negotiations
and political dialog to resolve regional issues and problems,”
Larijani stated.

He called for close consultation between Iranian and Armenian officials
on regional developments.

The Armenian lawmaker, for his part, said the expansion of cordial
parliamentary relations between the two countries would bolster

The National Assembly of Armenia is ready to improve relations with
Iran’s Majlis, Sahakyan added.

He assessed the outcomes of his talks with senior Iranian officials
as positive and expressed hope the two sides would take more steps

Is Moscow Hinting At Offensive?

IS MOSCOW HINTING AT OFFENSIVE?

Armenia is discussing the statement of the 102nd base of Gyumri Andrey
Ruzinsky who said the Russian base will intervene if Azerbaijan fights
against Karabakh.

And recently General Shamanov known from the war in Chechnya announced
that he is ready to land in Armenia to defend public order. Armenia
has signed an agreement with the CSTO according to which the CSTO
(i.e. Russian forces) will defend public order in Armenia.

Armenians know what “defend public order” means. They experienced
it in the first half of the 1990s. They also saw then what Russian
army’s intervention means. The consequence was population displaced
from Armenian settlements and the outrageous “passport regime”
implemented together with the Azerbaijani forces.

The Armenians won when the Russian regiment left Karabakh, leaving
there their weapons.

There is an opinion that the statement of the commander of the 102nd
military base of Gyumri intends to contain possible war by Azerbaijan
and Turkey. It is possible, considering that Russia is the “guarantor
of security” of Armenia. But is Russia able and genuinely willing to
prevent the war and what steps will it take if war starts?

Recent developments show that Russia has entered into binding
relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey which suppose surrender of
Armenian interests. In addition, this process began in 2008 when the
Association Agreement with the EU was not on the agenda yet.

Ostensibly, the association came up when the Armenian political
leadership started discerning danger from Russia’s new policy.

During the EU-Armenia negotiations Russia launched blackmail using
security and Karabakh. Eventually, Serzh Sargsyan announced to join
the Customs Union.

Apparently, his announcement was not enough for Moscow, and now hints
on defending “public order” in Armenia are made through a general who
stood out in Chechnya in the 1990s. Moscow thus takes the Armenian
political field under control to prevent surprises.

As to the statement of the commander of the Russian military base,
on the one hand, it is a carrot for the Armenian public, and on the
other hand, a threat to the government which has witnessed the role
of the Russian army in Karabakh. And its role in the possible was
will be prevention of the victory of Armenians.

We Are Investigating Causes For Disconnection Of Armenia-Iran Energy

WE ARE INVESTIGATING CAUSES FOR DISCONNECTION OF ARMENIA-IRAN ENERGY SYSTEMS – MINISTRY

November 04, 2013 | 13:01

YEREVAN. – The Armenian Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources is
investigating the causes for the disengagement between the energy
systems ofArmenia and Iran.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Armen Movsisyan noted the
abovementioned at the National Assembly on Monday.

The minister recalled that, on November 2 at 10:24am, the energy
system ofArmenia had disengaged from the energy system of Iran.

To note, due this technical reason, there were widespread power
outages throughout Armenia.

But as per the minister, following the disengagement, the energy
defense mechanism, which had switched off the electricity, immediately
went into operation.

“The parameters were already regulated two minutes after the switching
off. We started to gradually increase the power. The [entire] process
took 3.5 hours,” he noted.

Armen Movsisyan also informed that a special group is set up to
investigate the causes of this incident and determine the possible
future steps.

French Armenian Historian Not Expecting Drastic Moves From Turkey Be

FRENCH ARMENIAN HISTORIAN NOT EXPECTING DRASTIC MOVES FROM TURKEY BEFORE GENOCIDE CENTENARY

13:52 04.11.2013

French-Armenian historian Raymond Kevorkian says the conference held
on Islamized Armenians is a result of Turkey’s positive progress
in democracy, but remains pessimistic about the country to take any
step towards breaking “dogmas” regarding the 1915 incidents before
its 100th anniversary.

“Turkey has been changing for the good and it would be unfair not
to see that, this conference is a result of that,” Kevorkian told
Hurriyet Daily News on the sidelines of three-day conference regarding
Islamized Armenians that started Nov. 2 in Istanbul.

Despite hailing the opening of archives, Kevorkian implied he still
does not expect drastic moves from Turkey before the 100th anniversary
of the 100th anniversary of the 1915 incidents (the Armenian Genocide),
which is anticipated as a breaking point for Armenian Diaspora. “2015
is an opportunity to break this dogma, but Turkey doesn’t look like
it will take a step toward it.”

Speaking about the idea of the establishment of a Historian’s
Commission to be consisted of the two countries’ historians,
Kevorkian said he is against the formation of a commission under a
state’s guidance.

“Historians should be independent; they don’t wait for the state’s
approval to start working. Besides, we, Armenian and Turkish
historians, are already in cooperation and congregate together in
scientific meetings.”

“Moreover, there is no need to discuss the presence of the Armenian
genocide as the result is obvious. The Armenian genocide is a reality
acknowledged by the international community as well,” he added.
