NATO SEMINAR IN BAKU MARRED BY SCANDALS

The Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations entered a dispute during the
NATO Rose Roth seminar in Baku. The statements of Armenian lawmakers
Koryun Nahapetyan and Tevan Poghosyan on the necessity to recognize
Nagorno Karabakh as a party to the talks caused a hysteric reaction
on the part of the Azerbaijanis.

In particular, Azeri MP Siyavush Novruzov noted that the international
community that recognizes the territorial integrity of Ukraine,
should recognize that of Azerbaijan, as well.

This was not the only scandal at the seminar. During the coffee break
human rights activist Leyla Yunus handed to the foreign participants
the text of the statement of the Center for resistance to repressions
with her supporters unfurling a banner reading “Freedom to the
prisoners of conscience.”

“What European integration and stability are you speaking about, when
there are 130 victims of political violence in the country?” Yunus
said, adding that among them there are 40 prisoners of conscience,
90 political prisoners, 11 journalists and 4 human rights defenders.

ASHOT GULYAN: THE ARMY OF ARTSAKH IS READY TO PROTECT THE STATE BORDER

Artsakh has never endured and will not endure any infringement on its
territory and its army is as prepared as never before to protect the
country’s state borders, Speaker of Nagorno-Karabakh’s Parliament Ashot
Gulyan said at the 9th meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission
on cooperation between the Armenian and Nagorno-Karabkh parliaments
in Stepanakert on Monday.

He said that Azerbaijan keeps rejecting the mediators’ confidence
building initiatives and thereby endangers stability on its contact
line with Nagorno-Karabakh. “We expect the world community to force
Azerbaijan to stop this dangerous policy as it is a threat for the
whole region,” Gulyan said.

In his turn, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Galust Sahakyan said
that the Armenian Parliament gives top priority to the Nagorno-Karabkh
problem. “Azerbaijan’s ‘all or war’ policy is an obstacle to peace
in the region. The Azeris have made Armenophobia as their national
policy. They keep destroying everything

Armenian and spreading lies about Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh,”
Sahakyan said.

He believes that Nagorno-Karabakh must become a full party to the
Nagornk-Karabakh peace process and that any agreement reached during
the talks must be coordinated with the people of Artsakh. “We realize
the importance of the OSCE Minsk Group as an effective format for
searching for solutions to this problem. Any attempt to solve it by
means of war may have unpredictable consequences for the conflicting
parties and the whole region,” Sahakyan said.

ETHNIC ARMENIAN MURDERED IN Ä°STANBUL NEIGHBORHOOD

A 36-year-old Ä°stanbul resident of Armenian descent was fatally
stabbed at around 1 a.m. in the city’s Kumkapı quarter on Sunday,
with the murder suspect managing to flee the crime scene.

Eyewitnesses said Hamparsum Harutunyan was stabbed by an unidentified
assailant on Capariz St. in the Å~^ehsuvar Bey neighborhood. Residents
of the street called the police and an ambulance. Paramedics performed
cardiac resuscitation on Harutunyan, but the murder victim could not
be revived.

Harutunyan’s body was taken to Haseki Education and Research Hospital,
where an autopsy will be performed. The police have launched a
large-scale investigation to capture the suspect.

HRAYR MKOYAN JOINS ESTEGHLAL FOOTBALL TEAM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Armenian defender Hrayr Mkoyan, known as barbed wire,
joined Iran’s Esteghlal football team on a two-year deal on Monday.

Mkoyan will undergo a medical examination on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old defender has made 30 appearances for the Armenian
football team.

Sepahan midfielder Omid Ebrahimi, Tractor Sazi winger Milad Fakhreddini
and Sajjad Shahbazzadeh from Saipa have already joined the Iranian
football giant.

a month (and you thought your salary sucked.) With those kind of
wages, most would be lucky to just be able to afford the bus or a

SYRIAN GOVT RETAKES STRATEGIC TOWN ON TURKEY BORDER

Syrian government forces have recaptured the strategic town of Kasab,
near the only border crossing with Turkey in northwestern province
of Latakia, state television reported.

Kasab, an Armenian town, is strategically important because it is
located near the only border crossing with Turkey in sensitive Latakia
province, the heartland of the Alawite sect from which Assad hails.

“Units from the army are re-establishing security in the province
of Latakia after killing a large number of terrorists and destroying
their weapons,” the television said, referring to rebels who had been
in control of the town for more than two months.

Rebel fighters including members of Syrian Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Nusra
Front withdrew from the town yesterday, the Syrian Observatory for
Human Rights said, leaving only a small number of men behind.

As they pulled back, Assad’s troops backed by other pro-regime groups,
among them Lebanon’s powerful Hezbollah, had advanced on the village
of Nabaein near to Kasab.

The Britain-based Observatory said that government troops had entered
Kasab, held by the rebels since March 21, but that fighting was still
raging in the town.

“Fighting is still pitching soldiers against the rebels who stared
there,” Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman said.

Most rebels withdrew, he said, after “the army, backed by fighters
from Lebanon’s Shia Hezbollah, was able to take the hills surrounding
Kasab”.

Rebels were short on supplies, and experienced Hezbollah fighters
and Syrian special forces were able to advance, Abdel Rahman said.

“The insurgents did not want to be besieged in Kasab” by the army,
he said.

Under frequent bombardment by government forces, Kasab was vital for
rebels who used it as a staging post to transport their wounded to
Turkey, which backs the opposition.

The Syrian government had accused Ankara of helping rebel groups
seize Kasab.

Les autorités arméniennes vont faire un bilan de tous les bovins dans le pays

Les autorités en Arménie feront le point sur l’ensemble du marquage du
bétail, d’enregistrement et de donner un passeport pour chaque animal,
selon le gouvernement.

Un projet pilote visant à faire l’inventaire des bovins a été fait
dans la région de Vayots Dzor à la fin de 2012 sur l’ordre du Premier
ministre Tigran Sarkissian. Les résultats ont été utilisés pour créer
ANI un système de notation permettant d’analyser et de stocker toutes
les données. En cette année quelques 23 098 vaches ont été enregistrés
dans cette région.

Le gouvernement a dit que sur proposition du ministère de
l’agriculture il a décidé d’étendre le projet à travers le pays. Les
autorités vont acheter tout le matériel nécessaire et d’abord nommer
des vétérinaires responsables dans chaque communauté.

Le mouvement est censé rendre les mouvements du bétail plus efficace
et prévisible et améliorer les mesures afin de s’assurer qu’il est en
bonne santé.

Le Gouvernement nie toute intimidation sur la réforme des pensions

Le gouvernement arménien a démenti mercredi les nombreuses allégations
qu’il a ordonné aux employeurs de veiller à ce que leurs travailleurs
n’exercent pas leur droit de se retirer d’un nouveau et controversé
système de retraite.

Le Vice-Premier ministre Armen Gevorgian a dit que le gouvernement est
conscient des rapports que de nombreux employés du secteur public ont
été avertis qu’ils vont perdre leur emploi s’ils refusent d’avoir une
grande partie de leurs salaires retenus pour leurs futures pensions.

115e anniversaire du peintre et sculpteur Yervant Kotchar devant la
statue de David de Sassoun à Yerevan

Le 115e anniversaire du célèbre peintre et sculpteur arménien du 20e
siècle, Yervant Kotchar va être célébré aujourd’hui 15 juin par le
musée Kotchar de Yerevan, près de la statue de David de Sassoun, l’une
des plus majestueuses oeuvres de l’artiste. Le matin, le public sera
invité à se rendre devant la tombe de Yervant Kotchar. Le soir, autour
de la statue géante de David de Sassoun (devant la gare ferroviaire de
Yerevan) se déroulera une fête animée par la troupe de danses
folkloriques >. Yervant Kotchar (Yervant Kotcharian
1899-1979) est né Tbilissi (Géorgie) le 15 juin 1899. Il est l’auteur
de nombreux tableaux et sculptures. Parmi ces dernières, citons celles
de David de Sassoun inaugurée le 3 décembre 1959 et de Vartan
Mamikonian.
