ARFD: CEC decision on permanent stamps violates secret ballot princi

ARFD rep.: CEC decision on permanent stamps violates secret ballot principle

May 6, 2012 – 19:46 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – ARF Dashnaktsutyun representative Armen Rustamyan
commented on Central Election Commission’s decision to replace
vanishing ink stamps in voters’ passports with ordinary permanent
stamps.

As he noted, on May 5, Armenia’s constitutional court refused to
release the list of voters who’ve cast their ballots, citing violation
of secret ballot principle behind the decision. `Having resolved
against vanishing ink stamps, the Central Election Commission has
violated the decision of the constitutional court,’ ARFD
representative said.

Dwelling on the activity of inter-party electoral headquarters,
Rustamyan noted, `without having as much resources as the government
does, we’re basically doing the work which is the government’s duty to
perform.’

French election: Centrist Bayrou backs Francois Hollande

French election: Centrist Bayrou backs Francois Hollande

11:59 . 04/05

Centrist leader Francois Bayrou has announced his support for
Socialist candidate Francois Hollande in Sunday’s presidential
election, BBC informs.

Mr Bayrou came fifth in the first round of voting, taking 9.1% of the vote.

If his supporters join him in voting for Mr Hollande, it would deal a
significant blow to Nicholas Sarkozy’s chances for re-election,
especially when the opinion polls show that the socialist candidate is
ahead Nikolas Sarkozy.

Front National candidate Marine Le Pen, who was the third in the first
round, has already said she will support neither Mr Sarkozy, nor his
rival in the second round. It was expected that she might support
Sarkozy, passing him the 18% of votes she got.

Today, it is the last day of the election campaign in France. Tomorrow
it is a day of silence here and after the end of the May 6
presidential elections France’s future president will become known.

Armanoush Mirzoyan, president of the 2/07 polling station in Yerevan’s
Nork Nork district, has given a big `thumbs up’ to today’s
parliamentary election, describing the process as `ideal’.

In contrast, ANC proxy Rouzanna Karapetyan noted that the process was
evidently directed from above.

`They are bringing people in groups and telling them who to vote for.
Naturally the organizers are instructing people to vote for the ruling
Republican Party,’ said Karapetyan.

Knarik Zatikyan, a proxy for the Republican Party at the polling
station, denied the charges.

It depends on the result of the parliamentary elections whether
Prosperous Armenia will support Serzh Sargsyan during presidential
election of 2013 or not, Leader of Prosperous Armenia Party Gagik
Tsarukyan told media after voting at the polling stations No. 28/28 in

PanARMENIAN.Net – Prime Minister expressed confidence that Armenia
needs changes.

`I agree with the 1st and 2nd presidents of independent Armenia in the

bring about changes,’ Tigran Sargsyan stated commenting on ex-leader
Robert Kocharian’s criticism of current authorities.

About 80 of 154 citizens, who were injured from the explosions of
gas-filled balloons on Friday at the rally of ruling Republican Party of
Armenia (RPA) in Republic Square, remain at hospitals. Twenty five victims
are intensive care; there are people who will need plastic surgeries later.

The Ministry of Health (MoH) reports that there is no patient whose life is
at stake and that patients are being dismissed hourly.

On Friday, a few minutes after the accident, the rally continued, including
a speech by President Serzh Sargsyan. Soon after concluding his speech
Sargsyan visited some accident victims at Nairi Hospital and on Saturday
attended a prayer service. He was criticized severely, however, for not
stopping the rally, and for not mentioning anything about the blast in his
speech. In response to those accusations, an RPA representative said that
Sargsyan did not mention it so as to not create panic or a possible traffic
jam, so that all victims could be taken to hospitals from Republic Square
on time.

Some of the victims, mainly youngsters, suffered burns from melting rubber;
others suffered as a result of the crush caused by panic.

Police report that a criminal case has been launched against those who
prepared the balloons, for violating the rules of maintenance,
registration, transfer, delivery and usage of inflammable or caustic
materials, as well as the illegal transfer and delivery of such materials,
if they caused severe consequences due to careless treatment.

on Work of Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov commenting on the
construction of city by Armenians in occupied Khojavend reguon, APA
