MANILA, Philippines – The rematch between former world champion Nonito
Donaire Jr. and Armenian-Australian Vic Darchinyan is reportedly
being worked out.

In a Boxing Scene report by Ronnie Nathanielsz, Darchinyan’s manager
Frank Espinoza and Top Rank CEO Bob Arum said the time is ripe for
a second face-off between the two former world champions.

Arum said Top Rank president Todd duBeof will be meeting with HBO
Sports to arrange Donaire’s comeback between October and November.

In 2007, Donaire rose to stardom by knocking out then undefeated
Darchinyan in the fifth round of their IBF/IBO world flyweight bout.

Darchinyan admitted being shocked by the loss and wanted to get back
at the Filipino Flash.

“[The loss was a shock] to everyone including me. It’s a loss I badly
want to avenge,” he said.

Donaire recently lost his WBO, RING Magazine and WBC diamond super
bantamweight titles after suffering an upset to Cuba’s Guillermo
Rigondeaux.

Darchinyan said he believes Donaire is raring to come back after
the loss.

“I know he’s planning to return. I’m here, ready and willing. I want
to finally get my revenge,” he said.

The following information was released by the Organization for
Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE):

Participants of a two-month police teacher-training course provided
with the OSCE support were awarded certificates today at a graduation
ceremony in Yerevan.

The course targeted teaching staff of the recently established Police
Educational Complex and aimed to improve the quality of education
and strengthen the capacity of those who evaluate the teaching process.

“Co-operation with the Armenian Police in the reform process has been
one of the priorities of the Office. This course is an example of
how the OSCE is providing practical support to promote international
standards in the police service,” said Ambassador Andrey Sorokin,
Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan.

The training programme was designed by an OSCE expert from the United
Kingdom and was delivered from 9 April to 4 June. It included a series
of interlinked courses focusing on theory and contemporary approaches
in police education and training, in particular on principles and
application of evaluation, learning cycles, safe learning environment,

Serzh Sargsyan: The Region Will Change In 3-4 Years And We Should Be

SERZH SARGSYAN: THE REGION WILL CHANGE IN 3-4 YEARS AND WE SHOULD BE READY FOR IT

Mediamax, Armenia
June 5 2013

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said today that
“we should continue modernization and diversification of our economy
to get more favorable conditions in the new situation expected in
the region in a few years”.

Serzh Sargsyan said this at the session of the National Security
Council today, Mediamax reports.

“Armenia faces many difficulties today. Nobody argues it. But the
truth is that the trends of development of Armenia’s economy are
promising. In 2012, the economic growth in our country made 7.2%. The
high level of economic activity maintains in 2013 as well. Yes,
the rates of Armenia’s economic growth exceeded those in all the
neighboring countries in 2012. As a result, Armenia is the 23rd country
ensuring biggest economic growth among 188 countries of the world as
of 2012”, said the President.

According to Serzh Sargsyan, economy should be changed in all the
spheres both in terms of form and content.

“We are building a new economy. Gradually, we should start producing
anti-hail networks just on the spot instead of eliminating outcomes of
the hail, we should produce irrigation systems instead of subsidizing
irrigation, start projects advancing the whole fields to collect
fast and cheap hotbeds, for instance, assembly of necessary equipment
production up to say solar batteries”, noted the President.

According to the President, the picture in the region will change
within 3-4 years and Armenia should be ready for it.

Serzh Sargsyan noted that the experts have been expecting Azerbaijan’s
unavoidable fiasco for over 2-3 years – political-social and economic
mines threaten to explode in Azerbaijan.

“In conditions of chronic decline in oil and gas extraction,
the authorities of the neighboring country continue spending the
accumulated means the way even their rivals couldn’t plan. Only
momentary fiestas – that’s the logic of the pursued policy. The
money is wasted in areas of one-time use at crazy rates- tremendous
construction projects ensuring visibility, funding social expenditures,
which they will have to reduce squandering billions for the sake of one
evening in various corners of the world – deeds which make everything
clear for those who plans 2 steps ahead”, said Serzh Sargsyan.

Syunik Murder Adds To Logical Chain Of Processes In Armenia – Opinio

SYUNIK MURDER ADDS TO LOGICAL CHAIN OF PROCESSES IN ARMENIA – OPINIONS

15:55 ~U 07.06.13

The murder outside the house of Surik Khachatryan, the governor of
the southern region of Syunik, is the continuation of the logical
chain of processes in Armenia, according to intellectuals.

Gagik Ginosyan, a hero of the Nagorno-Karabakh war and the founder
of the ethnographic dance ensemble Karin, told reporters on Friday
that the video footage featuring the incident suggested no evidence
that the ex-governor was the gunmen’s initial target.

He said the deadly shoot-out must serve as a precedent in the higher
circles to prevent such tragedies in future.

Avetik Budaghyan, a former candidate for the Goris mayor, was gunned
down and killed outside Khachatryan’s house on Saturday night. Two
other people – his brother, and a relation of the ex-governor, were
seriously wounded. Khachatryan was relieved of duties shortly after
the tragic incident.

Samvel Sevada, a prominent contemporary photographer also attending
the news conference, added for his part that he was shocked by seeing
a young guy in the band.

“I was simply horrified [by seeing] that such a generation is
growing up. What was good in the Soviet period was that weapons were
strictly banned,” he said, stressing the importance of applying strong
measures today.
