Syunik Region villagers send open letter to Armenian PM

June 15, 2013 | 12:17

YEREVAN. – Armenian farmers from Syunik Region addressed Prime
Minister Tigran Sargsyan with an open letter, complaining about local
authorities.

In a letter, farmers said they had information that the government
intended to help the villagers and provide fertilizers and diesel for
lower prices. However, the head of local agriculture department
supplied his relatives and friends with cheap diesel.

As to farmers, they had to buy diesel at a higher price. Moreover,
head of the department sold diesel to the local petrol stations and
earned money at the expense of the villagers.

The farmers urged Premier to interfere and stop misuse of resources
and provide the diesel and fertilizers at low price as it was decided
by the government.

L’armenie Doit Tabler Sur Une Croissance De 5% En 2013-2015

Federation revolutionnaire armenienne (Dachnaktsoutioun).

basee a Chypre.
telles allegations.

Parliament Prez: "The Looters Must Be Booted Out Of Office"

PARLIAMENT PREZ: “THE LOOTERS MUST BE BOOTED OUT OF OFFICE”
Grisha Balasanyan

At today’s parliament session, RA Control Chamber President Ishkhan
Zakaryan presented an accounting of his department’s 2012 activities,
noting that widespread abuses still exist in the sectors of state
purchases and construction.

Zakaryan confessed that purchases of certain goods and services are
often made at above market prices.

When Zakaryan began to list the inflated prices paid for construction
materials for the building of new courthouses, Justice Minister Hrayr
Tovmasyan got up and left the session, giving the impression that
such revelations were of no concern to him.

In his expose, Zakaryan noted that the government had paid 1,007 AMD
for one meter of cable that can be bought in any store for a mere
130 AMD. He even showed the MPs a store receipt to that effect.

270 million AMD in over payments were found just in the court
construction sector. Zakaryan said that he would be sending some of
these cases to the prosecutor’s office.

Parliament President Hovik Abrahamyan seemed astonished that such
abuse was going on and that those responsible, the “looters” as he
called them, were still in office.

Abrahamyan said he hoped hat Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan would
see to it that such officials were booted out.

Soccer: Denmark Reels After Humiliating Home Defeat To Armenia

DENMARK REELS AFTER HUMILIATING HOME DEFEAT TO ARMENIA

Deutsche Presse Agunter – dpa-AFX International ProFeed June 12 2013

COPENHAGEN (dpa-AFX) – A humiliating 4-0 home defeat to Armenia has
triggered calls for a new Denmark coach Wednesday as hopes of a World
Cup berth were badly eroded. Morten Olsen who has been at the helm of
Denmark since 2000 said he took full responsibility for the washout,
but sports commentators suggested the veteran had ‘reached the end of
the line.’ Tabloid BT on Wednesday headlined its first page ‘Resign,
Olsen’ while rival Ekstra Bladet’s headline read ‘Finished’ along
with a photo of the coach.

‘Farewell Copacabana. Farewell to the World Cup. Farewell Morten
Olsen,’ Copenhagen daily Politiken summed up. Politiken’s football
columnist Soren Olsen said he doubted Denmark could catch up with
Bulgaria or the Czech Republic for second place – and a possible
playoff spot – behind Italy in Group B. ‘The result and the
performance was a stain on Denmark’s national team,’ the Politiken
columnist wrote. ‘What an enormous fiasco, this will really be
painful for a long time – for Olsen and the players.’ ‘It was the
worst evening in my life in football. It is incomprehensible that
we couldn’t do better, but the responsibility is fully mine,’ Olsen
told broadcaster TV2 after the match. His contract runs until the
2014 World Cup in Brazil. Denmark’s next World Cup qualifier is in
September against Malta. Speculation on a possible successor to Olsen
included former Denmark international Michael Laudrup although his
fate is still linked to Swansea or another club. Others include FC
Nordsjaelland coach Kasper Hjulmand or Swansea’s deputy coach Morten
Wieghorst. Ekstra Bladet commentator Jan Jensen said he hoped the
Danish Football Association would opt for a Dutch or a German coach,
citing that Denmark needed fresh impulses. Daily Jyllands-Posten
labelled the match as a ‘total and unprecedented collapse,’ and the
culmination of a down period that began a year and a half ago. Fans
booed and whistled at the team. Sampdoria defender Simon Poulsen told
news agency Ritzau the players were even ‘more disappointed’ than the
spectators or fans who watched the match on television. Goalkeeper
Stephan Andersen hoped the transfer to a new club, Betis, would help
him get over the defeat. Defender Simon Kjaer was one of the players
who had a poor evening. He missed a pass that allowed Armenia’s Yura
Movsisyan to score after 27 seconds. The shock opener was nine seconds
faster than when Italy’s Filippo Inzaghi scored against Denmark
in 1999. The defeat leaves the Danes fifth with six points in the
six-team group – four points behind the second-placed Bulgarians and
three behind the Czech Republic. Armenia, who also have six points,
are fourth on goal difference. All teams have four matches remaining.

EU Or Eurasian Union? Choice Between ‘Paradise’ And ‘Hell’ – Opinion

EU OR EURASIAN UNION? CHOICE BETWEEN ‘PARADISE’ AND ‘HELL’ – OPINION

21:43 ~U 13.06.13

The cliches used to characterize a political or economic security
regime are artificial concepts invented by their proponents or
opponents, says Ashot Manucharyan, an Armenian oppositionist.

Speaking at a debate devoted to Armenia’s integration processes, the
politician said that the terms my signify a ‘happy future’, ‘paradise’
or ‘hell’ for different people, depending on the political camp they
take sides with.

“Let us speak of real problems, not the declared ones. When the say ‘a
happy future’ [that’s like] a picture reminding one of paradise. But as
a matter of fact, those countries resolve very specific issues; so we
have to wait and see how those solutions will reflect our problems,”
he said.

The debate, addressing Armenia’s choice between the EU Association
Agreement and the Eurasian Union (and the Customs Union) was attended
by such public and political figures as Andrias Ghukasyan (former
presidential candidatge), Aram Karapetyan (New Times party leader),
Khachatur Kokobelyan (Free Democrats party), Ruben Mehrabyan, and
the Polish ambassador to Armenia, Zdzislaw Raczynski.

Manucharyan cited Libya’s example, noting that the country appeared
in a dead-end, after ignoring the EU’s significance for its political
interests.

“Let us try and understand the consequences of the choice we are now
offered – the European Union, for instance. Suppose it is a paradise;
so we are trying to tear away from Russia which has been described
as a piece of hell. Will this not cause Armenia to suffer the blows
of the hell?” he asked.

The politician said that the situation reminded him of the remote
past, particularly the period when the concepts of Bolshevism and the
British Empire were in conflict with one another in Armenia, posing
themselves as the ‘good’ and ‘evil’. “But we found ourselves in a
specific situation, with our neighbors accepting the Bolshevism’s
arguments more seriously than we did and leaving us in the position
of the ‘progressive mankind islet’ in this region and this causing
us to lose half of the republic,” he noted.
