Did Samvel Aleksanyan Monopolize Swine Breeding?

DID SAMVEL ALEKSANYAN MONOPOLIZE SWINE BREEDING?

June 17 2013

As we were informed, a few days ago, the inhabitants of the villages
Amasia applied to Aravot.am complaining that the oligarchs of the
country bereave also swine breeding of the villagers’ hands. As they
presented, 3-4 people to set up large farms, artificially bring the
prices for pork down, due to which the ordinary farmer is forced to
sell his pigs. Confiscating the pigs from actual farmer’s hands, these
oligarchs immediately increase the value of the meat in the market.

Today in an interview with Aravot.am a resident of Ashotsk, the former
head of Bavra Customs, 71-year-old ANT member Shaliko Zoryann said
that the villagers are bankrupted due to the oligarch – Deputy of NA
Samvel Aleksanyan, the latter monopolizes the swine breeding. “Lfik
brought the price for pork down, making it to become 1800 Armenian
drams per kilo, while keeping pig cost very expensive to the farmer,
the latter paid a high price for the fodder, had taken a loan from
the bank especially for the pigs. They did so that every farmer
lost 30-40 thousand Armenian drams per pig, the poor did not receive
benefits, but debts with burden of interests, and ultimately should
the authorities of this country think about the economic destiny”,-
annoyed our interlocutor . Nune AREVSHATYAN

PanARMENIAN.Net – The Armenian Public Council offers a plan to
rehabilitate Armavia national carrier which went bankrupt lately.

During a news conference on June 18, council member Levon Ghazaryan
said that Armavia possesses the essential infrastructure to restart
activity under the guidance of a skillful manager after a procedure
of rehabilitation.

“It’s a pity that instead of operating flights, airplanes with Armenian
flags stand idle under the sun,” he said.

Nevertheless, Ghazaryan noted, the court proceedings Armavia is facing
will be very complicated, as the company has over 20 representative
offices in different countries and over 33 thousand agreements.

“To make things clear, mutual settlement of accounts is necessary,”
he said.

Turkish Government Says It May Use Army To End Protests

TURKISH GOVERNMENT SAYS IT MAY USE ARMY TO END PROTESTS

17 June 2013 Last updated at 13:00 GMT

Anti-government protests continued in Istanbul and Ankara on Sunday
night

The Turkish government has said it could use the army to end nearly
three weeks of unrest by protesters in Istanbul and other cities.

The government would use “all its powers” and the armed forces if
necessary, Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said on state-run
television.

It is the first time the Islamist-rooted ruling party has raised the
prospect of deploying the armed forces.

The issue is sensitive as the army is seen as a bastion of secularism.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan told hundreds of thousands of
supporters at a rally in Istanbul on Sunday that the protesters were
manipulated by “terrorists”.

Trade unions have called a strike to protest against the police
crackdown on demonstrators which has seen some 500 people arrested.

Medical officials estimate that 5,000 people have been injured and
at least four killed in the unrest.

The protests began on 28 May against a plan to redevelop Istanbul’s
Gezi Park, on the city’s central Taksim Square, but it snowballed into
nationwide anti-government protests after the perceived high-handed
response of the authorities under their three-term prime minister.

Gendarmes Mr Arinc told state-run TV that “the innocent demonstrations
that began 20 days ago” had “completely ended”.

Any further demonstrations would be “immediately suppressed”, he added.

Protest timeline

28 May: Protests begin in Gezi Park over plans to redevelop one of
Istanbul’s few green spaces

30-31 May: Police raids on protest camp culminate in mass unrest

3 June: Protesters establish camps with makeshift facilities from
libraries to food centres

4-10 June: Protests widen into show of anti-government dissent in towns
and cities across Turkey; clashes between police and demonstrators

11/12 June: Night of clashes see riot police disperse anti-government
demonstrators in Taksim Square, which adjoins Gezi Park; camps in
the park remain

13 June: Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan issues a “final warning”
to protesters to leave Gezi Park

14 June: Government agrees to suspend Gezi Park redevelopment plans
until a court rules on the issue, PM holds talks with members of a
key protest group

15 June: Police move in, clearing protesters from Gezi Park

“Our police, our security forces are doing their jobs,” he said. “If
it’s not enough then the gendarmes will do their jobs. If that’s not
enough… we could even use elements of the Turkish armed forces.”

The deployment of gendarmes – a military unit under control of the
interior ministry in peacetime – shocked some protesters in Istanbul
this weekend.

In a separate interview, Interior Minister Muammer Guler stressed
that he had not called on the army to help police the protests.

But he argued that the use of the gendarmerie was “quite normal”,
the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reports.

Bloggers reacted with scepticism to news that the army might be
deployed. “And this coming from the same people who always claim they
liberated Turkish democracy from army intervention,” one wrote.

In the capital, Ankara, riot police could be seen facing off with
trade union activists on Monday.

Police officers used megaphones to order workers to stop their march
towards the central Kizilay district, reports Reuters news agency.

“Those of you on the streets must stop blocking the streets,” they
said. “Do not be provoked. The police will use force.”

Union marches were also being planned for Istanbul, where police
evicted protesters from their camp in Gezi park over the weekend.

The Confederation of Public Workers’ Unions (KESK) and Confederation
of Progressive Trade Unions (DISK), along with three professional
organisations, announced a one-day work stoppage to demand an end to
“police violence”.

longuement traîne a terre.

‘Hateful’ Speech In Istanbul: Erdogan Throws Fuel On Flames

‘HATEFUL’ SPEECH IN ISTANBUL: ERDOGAN THROWS FUEL ON FLAMES

By Maximilian Popp and Mirjam Schmitt

He cleared out Gezi Park with brutal violence, disparaged the
protesters as terrorists and railed against the foreign media. After
a brief conciliatory respite, Prime Minster Erdogan is inflaming the
conflict in Turkey once more. But the protest movement shows no signs
of backing down.

For a short time it looked as if Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip
Erdogan would relent, as if he had learned something from the revolt
against his government that has taken place over the past weeks.

In the middle of the week, he met with demonstrators who are commited
to the preservation of Istanbul’s Gezi Park. He said that judges would
deliberate on the future of the controversial park and held out the
prospect of a referendum. Would Erdogan, the despot of the past two
weeks, transform himself into a mediator? Since Sunday night at the
latest, the answer has been a resounding no.

At a rally in Ankara on Saturday, Erdogan reiterated that he was
reaching the limits of his patience. After night fell, his security
forces put these words into force. They used bulldozers to clear out
Gezi Park, which had become a symbol of the resistance in recent days.

They chased protesters and beat them down with clubs, and they shot
tear gas into cafes and hotels as the people fled. Doctors who treated
the wounded were arrested.

But on Sunday, demonstrators in Turkey returned to the streets to
protest the government. At the same time Erdogan gave a memorable
speech in Istanbul. Liberal commentators described it as “frightening”
and “hateful.”

Hundreds of thousands of Erdogan supporters who had been bussed in
from throughout the region gathered in a field along the coast. They
carried Turkish flags and portraits of the prime minister. Officials
with Erdogan’s Justice and Development Party (AKP), including European
Union Affairs Minister Egemin Bagis, spurred on the crowd.

Erdogan Agitates Conflict

Then Erdogan took to the stage. His supporters chanted “Turkey!

Turkey!” as he raised his arms triumphantly. Of one thing there is no
doubt: The Turkish premier did not come to Istanbul as a mediator. And
it was conflict he was looking for — not reconciliation.

Erdogan evoked a Turkish Empire, greeting his supporters in the
Balkans, in Angola and in Iraq. “Where is Sarajevo? Where is Gaza
tonight?” he called out. His voice cracked, and, at that moment, he
no longer seemed like the democratically elected prime minister of
one of the world’s largest economies. Instead he struck the figure
of a crazed despot.

Erdogan then addressed the foreign media: “CNN, Reuters, leave us
alone with your lies!” he exclaimed. For days now, Erdogan has sought
to discredit the protests — which began as a campaign against the
demolition of a park in Istanbul and expanded into a nationwide revolt
against the AKP-led government — as a conspiracy conducted by foreign
powers. “These forces want to harm Turkey,” he said.

Finally, he addressed the protesters directly, once again calling
them terrorists and plunderers. They aren’t real Turks, Erdogan
said, adding that they should be handled with caution. “Those who
work against Turkey will tremble with fear,” he warns, adding that
he will hold accountable any hotelier who hides these “terrorists.”

Erdogan’s speech may yet prove to be fateful for the leader. The
atmosphere is already charged, and now Erdogan is throwing more fuel
on the fire. Rather than reach out to the protesters, he disparages
them. But with each attack he is only driving more people out onto the
street. Early on, the protest proved effective at bringing together
citizens from various social backgrounds.

As Erdogan spoke on Sunday, young demonstrators in Istanbul watched
the speech on television — students, artists, lawyers. They were
stunned and unable to believe their prime minister has denounced them
as enemies of the state.

“Istanbul, are we one? Istanbul, are we united? Istanbul, are we
brothers?” Erdogan shouted after nearly two hours. By this point,
a few kilometers away, tens of thousands of demonstrators had once
more gathered at Taksim Square. Despite the police and their clouds
of tear gas, the protesters continued to march and demand Erdogan’s
resignation.

Putin: Russia Arming Legitimate Gov’t In Syria, West Arming Organ-Ea

PUTIN: RUSSIA ARMING LEGITIMATE GOV’T IN SYRIA, WEST ARMING ORGAN-EATERS

Russian President Vladimir Putin slammed the Western countries
for arming foreign-backed militants fighting the Syrian government,
warning that such move contradicts basic human values since the armed
groups are committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.

During a joint press conference with British Prime Minister David
Cameron on Sunday, Putin said: “You will not deny that one does not
really need to support the people who not only kill their enemies,
but open up their bodies, eat their intestines in front of the public
and cameras. Are these the people you want to support? Is it them
who you want to supply with weapons? Then this probably has little
relation to humanitarian values that have been preached in Europe
for hundreds of years.”

Putin was referring to video footage surfaced on the Internet last
month of a militant eating what appeared to be the heart of a dead
Syrian soldier.

In an interview with Time magazine on May 14, the cannibal militant,
known by his nom de guerre Abu Sakkar, confirmed that the video is
real and that he did indeed take a bite of the soldier’s lung. Human
Rights Watch said it was a war crime.

Putin said that Russia by contrast was arming the legitimate government
of Syria “We are not breaching any rules and norms and we call on
all our partners to act in the same fashion,” he said.

Speaking after a difficult meeting with Putin in Northern Ireland,
Cameron claimed both men were in agreement on the need to end the
human catastrophe of the Syrian crisis. But there was little to
suggest the two men made progress on how to convene a fresh Syrian
peace conference in Geneva, let alone who should attend, or its agenda.

“There are very big differences between the analysis we have of what
happened in Syria and who is to blame but where there is common ground
is that we both see a humanitarian catastrophe,” Cameron said.

“What I take from our conversation today is that we can overcome
these differences if we recognize that we share some fundamental aims:
to end the conflict, to stop Syria breaking apart, to let the Syrian
people decide who governs them and to take the fight to the extremists
and defeat them,” he said.
