Armenian Paul Karmiryan among the Top 20 dancers of FOX TV dance show

13:56 22.06.2013

Paul Karmiryan thinks he can dance – and, so far, the judges of the
show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ think so as well. The 21-year-old
Glendale resident is among the Top 20 dancers chosen to move on to the
final round of the hit FOX TV dance show. He will compete against
other dancers from throughout the U.S. who are vying to earn the title
America’s Favorite Dancers, the Glendale News-Press reports.

`I’m kind of in shock. It’s kind of unreal,’ Karmiryan said this week
about making it to the Top 20. `I’m very happy to be where I am right
now.’

Judges from the show, now in its 10th season, travel around the
country to local competitions and choose dancers to compete in Las
Vegas, where they work with choreographers. Twenty dancers are then
chosen to take part in the live show competitions taking place this
summer. Eliminations of couples take place each week until the final
winning couple is chosen.

Karmiryan may have a leg up on the competition – he won the Armenian
version of `So You Think You Can Dance’ two years ago. It was during
his first visit to his family’s home country that his friends and
family pushed Karmiryan, who had only been dancing Latin Ballroom for
three years, to audition for the show.

`Things progressed, and I stayed for six months,’ he said.

Karmiryan said the experience of being on the show was quite different
>From the U.S. version, mainly because Armenia is quite a bit smaller
than the U.S. But the experience, he said, `taught me a lot as a
person … and it helped me become a better dancer.’

Karmiryan moved to Glendale from Armenia with his family when he was 6
years old. The only dance experience he had prior to ballroom was
traditional Armenian dancing. `Nothing serious,’ he said.

He started learning Latin ballroom at the age of 17, which puts him at
a great disadvantage in the competition as he is going up against much
more experienced dancers. However, he is determined to do his best.

`I set my mind to it,’ he said. `I knew I was going up against people
who have been dancing their whole lives. I really knew how much [hard
work] I had to put in.’

He trains every day. `It’s insane,’ Karmiryan said. `[I train]
literally from morning to night.’

In addition to taking classes in all genres, Karmiryan competes
regularly and credits much of his success to his dance coach Grigori
Sedrakyan, who is also from Armenia and owns the Matador Dance Studio
in Glendale.

`He has helped me so much with everything,’ Karmiryan said. `As much
work as I put into [dance] myself, I couldn’t do anything without
him.’

Sedrakyan, who started late in dancing as well, at age 13, holds
Armenian, U.S. and World Champion Dance titles. Now retired from
competition and with additional dance studios in Armenia, Beirut and
Belgrade, he said he enjoys seeing students such as Karmiryan follow
in his footsteps.

`After you stop dancing, you want someone to continue [with your
work],’ Sedrakyan said. `Right now I am getting that from my students,
and he’s one of the top ones. I am enjoying dancing through him.’

Karmiryan’s family is also supportive of his dance aspirations.

`My family is so proud of me,’ he said. `My mom is so excited. She’s
ecstatic. It feels so good to make my parents proud. They’ve supported
me so much. I’m really lucky to have amazing parents.’

As to what will take place this summer during the final rounds of `So
You Think You Can Dance,’ Karmiryan said he’s `definitely nervous. I
don’t know what I am going to get. If it’s my genre it will be a lot
easier.’

Each week he will dance with a different partner and the dance genre
will be randomly `picked out of a hat.’ He will have one week to
prepare to perform. When it comes down to the final couples and weeks,
the dancers will also perform solos.

`There’s a lot of factors that come into play that make it exciting,
but nerve-racking,’ Karmiryan said. `Will America like you? Will you
perform well? Will the judges like me?’

Whatever the outcome, Karmiryan hopes to keep dancing and maybe
someday earn a world dance title.

`There are so many goals I have,’ Karmiryan said of his dancing. `This
show will help.’

Our 20% share to `Gazprom’: for subsidization?

Our 20% share to `Gazprom’: for subsidization?

June 21 2013

Recently, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan
stated that they are negotiating with `Gazprom’ owning 80% of
`ArmRusGazArd’ about concedeing 20% of Armenian share. `Gazprom’ wants to
become a 100% owner `ArmRusGazArd’. Whether transferring those 20%
belonging to Armenia to the Russian side, we will not pay for the grant
expected from Russia, with the help of which the government is going to
make a 30% subsidy for the gas which will become expensive from the next
month. The negotiations to receive a grant for the subsidy, as the
government assures, are pending, but actually it’s not excluded that by
just giving 20% of Armenian share of ‘ ArmRusGazArd `, the Russian grant
will be paid. However, by estimations of economists, the volume of 30%
subsidy coincides with the price of 20% of Armenian share. In a talk with
`Aravot’, the Deputy of ARF faction, economist Artsvik Minasyan presented
her analysis, according to which, only the balance value of the share of
the Armenian side, calculated as of January 1, 20013, amounts to AMD
150-160 million, which coincides with our 20% participation in `ARG’. `This
corresponds to the number which is the value of 30% subsidy of the last
price increase of `Gazprom’ for gas.

It is possible that we concede the share, because my calculations show that
the numbers are the same. If we multiply the volume of gas entering Armenia
during one year, and calculate 30%, the numbers are almost the same. If
this is sitting on the negotiation table, then we may say that the
statement made by the Government of Armenia again does not meet the
reality, when talking about receiving grant from Russia. This is a simple
transaction under the name share for the gas. But the subsidy cannot be a
long-term, just 1-2 years.’ As presented by Mr. Minasyan, if we take into
account that ArmRusGazArd in addition of gas acquiring and distribution, is
also implementing other energy projects, given the fact that the company
has a strategic importance, monopoly position and is an extended company,
the sale of 20% Armenian share must be viewed as a business sale, and
150-160 million balance must be multiplied by several times, and, in this
respect, 20% is of a significant importance. As for losing 20% Armenian
share of ArmRusGazArd, with which we are going to lose many opportunities,
Mr. Minasyan thinks that with that 20% so far the Government of Armenia did
not use any serious opportunity and right. According to the Deputy,
ArmRusGazArd is a closed joint-stock company, and 20% provides a number of
rights in the joint-stock companies. `He enjoys the right to vote at the
general meeting of shareholders, where the company’s strategic issues are
determined, has the right to have a representative on the board of
directors. In addition, 20% has a decisive importance in major and
interested transactions, for example, if the `Gazprom’ delivers its
products to `ArmRusGazArd’, and the latter must make a decision, the right
for making the decision in this case is reserved exclusively to 20%. The
other important and fundamental right is the right to receive the dividend.
In this sense, when we analyze to understand whether the Government of
Armenia has used its rights or not, it appears that no annual or general
meeting of the shares was held, where the Armenian side may speak against
regarding the principal issues. Our government does not excel with
remarkable efficiency in the composition of the Management Board, not any
interested deal is mentioned or published, and when we send a written
request to the Minister of Energy, they have noted that such deals were not
made. While it is clear that acquisition of gas is a big deal, if we do not
account other investment projects.

As for the right to receive dividend, we see that Armenia’s budget has not
ever received any dividend, we haven’t received revenues, and why, it is a
subject for another analysis. `In other words, according to Mr. Minasyan,
with 20% and important rights equivalent to them, our government did not
use them anyway. An opinion was expressed that it would be right if our
government would sell 20% to Armenia business entities or residents of
Armenia. In this regard, Artsvik Minasyan said that, of course, it would be
nice, but for this reason the gas supplying company should become an open
joint stock company from a closed join stock company, which, of course,
they will not do. As viewed by the Deputy, `Armenia cannot sell its 20%
share without `preliminary consent of Gazprom. `Gazprom’ has a preferential
right to purchase, after refusal of `Gazprom’ other persons can make a
proposal. And in this case, if the proposal is public, the organizational
structure of the company must be changed, it must become an open and sell
at the stock exchange. This would be a major step to become a public
company. But I can confidently say that the Russian side would not agree.’
Artsvik Minasyan pointed to another problem, the Government of Armenia, in
fact, from now one will have to consider not `ArmRusGazArd’ but `Gazprom’
as an operator for selling gas to Armenia. The latter with the help of its
daughter enterprise `Armrusgasprom’ and its own `Transgaz’ delivers
services to Armenia. `And the fixed price at the boarder does not matter,
except when calculated for VAT. The policy `Gazprom’ is unprecedented
because there is no such high rate in any other country in the territory.
Here the government is able to influence and demanded from `Gazprom’ to
eliminate discriminatory policy towards Armenia, it remains only to wish.
In other words, `Gazprom’ receives profit from `Transgaz’ and
`Armrusgasard,’ and residential viewpoint it does not have the right to
implement a discriminatory policy: to sell gas to Armenians at more
expensive price than, let’s say, to Russians.’

Vardan Ayvazyan – Face Of The Armenian Authority

VARDAN AYVAZYAN – FACE OF THE ARMENIAN AUTHORITY

The baton of the “hero of the day” in Armenia passed to the
representative of NA standing committee on economic issues Vardan
Ayvazyan. He assumed the role of the defender of the interests of the
Armenian authorities with the cynicism and scandalousness inherent
to him.

Today for example, Vardan Ayvazyan said that it makes no difference if
80 or 100% of shares of ARG belongs to Russia. He said that Armenia,
anyway, with its 20% does not decide anything.

If such statements were issued by a person who sells peaches, or any
loader with a diploma with honors, it would be understandable. But when
this statement is made by the chairman of the parliamentary committee
that develops economic laws, it looks like an incurable disease.

In this sense, Vardan Ayvazyan is really the face of the Armenian
authorities. The same is about the minister of economy Armen
Movsisyan, who calls on the parliament to “wait” until Moscow decides
the conditions of the passage of 20% of shares to them. The same is
about the officials of the defense ministry who say that nothing is
wrong with Russia’s sale of offensive weapons to Azerbaijan. Just
like the minister of agriculture who assumed a priest to pray for
good weather. Like MP Samvel Alexanyan who complains to reporters
that his wife does not give him money.

These people represent Armenia in home and foreign policies. The level,
ambitions and dignity of Armenia and its authorities are judged by
the level, position and vocabulary of these people. They conclude
agreements, they are the source of private and public information.

These people obviously are not accepted in relevant sectors abroad.

Vardan Ayvazyan does not travel abroad – as soon as he leaves Armenia,
he will be immediately forced to pay 35 million, according to the
decision of the New York court. In Armenia, he is not only protected
by the highest authority, but also determines the economic policy of
the state, saying that Russia will still do what it wants.

Until the most important government positions are held by people
with whom no one wants to talk to abroad or with whom they speak
a certain language, Armenia will be seen as a country governed
without intelligence and dignity. And the attitude towards it will
be appropriate.

These people in Armenia are only afraid of one thing – when they are
asked how they made their fortunes. This question is still asked
only by a few representatives of the Armenian society and the New
York court. But, apparently, the time when this issue will be a major
one, and everyone will have to report in detail how they made so much
money in such a poor state, is approaching. Then, as Tigran Sargsyan
says they will either have to present documents about the legacy they
received from their grandfather, or they will collect things and go
to the prosecutor’s office.

Henrik Is The Victim Of Three Oligarchs

HENRIK IS THE VICTIM OF THREE OLIGARCHS

The English Mirror reports that Henrik Mkhitaryan’s transfer to
Liverpool derailed by troubling questions over his ownership. There
was information earlier that Mkhitaryan was in Vienna waiting for news.

This story on Mkhitaryan’s transfer is really vague. Mkhitaryan was the
first football player from Armenia who could play in an international
club in a high championship.

As we know, the right to Mkhitaryan’s transfer belongs not only to
Shakhtar Donetsk but also to Oleg Lazarian, who owns Metalurg Donetsk
and Kuban Krasnodar. Oleg Lazarian is in friendly relations with
the chairman of Armenian football federation Ruben Hairapetyan. Ruben
Hairapetyan also has rights to Mkhitaryan’s transfer since he is the
owner of Pyunik football club.

Against this background, it is interesting that in the meantime
the process of Mkhitaryan’s transfer to Liverpool was going on,
the chairman of Football Federation of Armenia, Ruben Hairepatyen,
decided to meet with representatives of social networks and blogs to
speak about the bad atmosphere in the national team and Mkhitaryan’s
guilt in it. We can only guess why Ruben Hairapetyan, who has the
right to Mkhitaryan’s transfer, decides to spread information harming
his reputation.

FF chairman is presenting Mkhitaryan as a presumptuous football player,
who thinks he is higher than the other players of the national team
of Armenia. Do you think any club intending to buy Henrik would be
happy with such a description or it will become more cautious?

Would such a description increase or decrease Henrik’s transfer price?

Which club would like to buy a football player who is described as
a conflict and presumptuous person?

It is strange that this description is voiced in a moment when the
transfer issue is decided and it is issued by the head of Football
Federation who is presumed to be interested in the transfer since
he owns the right to it. Ruben Hairapetyan is supposed to speak more
positively about Henrik to enhance his transfer price.

What is the reason of spreading negative news about Mkhitaryan at
such a decisive moment? Is the reason the dissatisfaction of Ruben
Hairapetyan and Oleg Lazarian of the deal or their share of it? Is
it Henrik’s attempt not to move as his “right holders” want? It is
evident that the FF Chairman and Henrik Mkhitaryan have a conflict.

Here the role of the owner of Shakhtar, RInat Ahmetov is not less:
he is an oligarch of Soviet-Russian type. Henrik is just a victim of
a successful or unsuccessful deal between three oligarchs.

The situation is even sadder because after such statements on the
atmosphere in the national team, not only Henrik but also the whole
team could result victims, in case after the good match vs. Denmark,
the team spirit was high and was a good precondition to overcome
the crisis ahead of the important match with the Czech Republic. If
Armenia wins this match, it will have a real chance to win the second
ticket to the finals.

3 Armenians Injured From Sniper Fire In Aleppo

3 ARMENIANS INJURED FROM SNIPER FIRE IN ALEPPO

12:40 21/06/2013 ” SOCIETY

Aleppo remains a hot spot in Syria conflict. 3 Armenians have been
injured from sniper fire in the Armenian-populated Nor Gyugh district
of Aleppo.

Yerkir Media TV reports that Syrian rebels are trying to enter Aleppo’s
Nor Gyugh and Suleymaniye districts. Their earlier attempts to enter
the districts had failed, with Assad’s forces pushing them back. Phone
communication is cut off in Aleppo.

Syria’s turmoil began with protests against President Bashar al-Assad’s
regime in March 2011. It crossed an important threshold a year and
a half later, when the International Red Cross formally declared it
a civil war.

The casualty tallies continue to climb higher as fighting rages across
the country. Tens of thousands are fleeing Syria, seeking sanctuary
in refugee camps in neighboring countries.

YEREVAN. – The disabled, who are registered at a polyclinic in Armenian
capital city Yerevan’s Davtashen District, may receive their medication
at half price solely from the pharmacies that operate within a chain
store, Zhamanak daily reports.

“[But] the prices [in these pharmacies] are much more expensive than
in other pharmacies that operate in the area.

It turns out that businessman MP Samvel Aleksanyan-or rather his

the monopoly of the state-provided medication for the disabled in

quelques-uns a manifester Place Taksim a Istanbul.
