LAWYER: SUSPECTED KILLER OF SIX IN GYUMRI MIGHT BE SET FREE (VIDEO)

Lawyer Norayr Norikyan says there are many questions in connection
with Monday’s killing of six family members in Gyumri city.

Why should Russian border guards detain a Valery Permyakov, a Russian
citizen serving at the Russian military base N 102 in Gyumri who is
suspected of the murder, on the territory of Armenia and why should
the suspect remain in the custody of Russian law enforcement agencies?

Nor can the lawyer understand the behavior and actions of the Armenian
law enforcement bodies, Prosecutors Office and other structures.

The chief of the General Staff of Armed Forces of Armenia names
the Russian soldier ‘a scoundrel.’ But no one has the right to give
assessments until his guilt is proven,” said Mr Norikyan.

The lawyer calls on Armenia’s state and law enforcement agencies to
be united.

Mr Norikyan says Russia should hand over Permyakov to Armenia law
enforcement agencies and the case must be investigated by Armenians.

At the same time the lawyer does not exclude that the six people
might have been killed by someone else. “If the Russian soldier is
found guilty he might be given a life sentence under the Armenian
legislation. But it is not excluded that Permyakov might be found
inadequate and be acquitted,” he said.

ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT WILL DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO RELAUNCH NAIRIT PLANT – MINISTER

We are interested and will do everything possible to relaunch Nairit
chemical plant, Yervand Zakharyan, Armenian Minister of Energy and
Natural Resources, told reporters on Wednesday.

The Minister noted that experts from the World Bank will conduct
a technical audit at the plant. The experts are expected to arrive
in Yerevan by February 2015. They will discuss with specialists the
possibilities of the plant’s relaunch.

Zakharyan expressed hope that the audit results will be ready by
late February and in case of a positive conclusion, the government
will apply to the Nairit Plant CJSC’s management for organizing an
international tender.

FATIH AKIN’S ‘THE CUT’ TO BE SCREENED IN FRANCE

The Cut, a film by German-Turkish director Fatih Akin, is going to
be screened in France today.

The film tells about the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey, which
claimed more than 1.5m lives.

Fatih Akin himself cannot travel without bodyguards because of
Turkish threats.

The film is about a young man by the name of Nazareth Manoogian gets
deported from his native village of Mardin. After the deportations,
Manoogian learns that his daughters may be alive. He travels to
various parts of the world in search for them.

Tahar Rahim, a French actor of Algerian descent, plays the role of
Nazareth Manoogian.

TRIBUTE TO MICHAEL ASSATRYAN MARSEILLE – PHOTO

Many people, hundreds of people to pay tribute to Michael, 16 and a
half, cowardly and brutal massacre on January 12 at the exit of his
school, by a pack of barbarians.

The cathedral suddenly become too small, could not contain all the
anonymous respondents to this tribute, including some teachers of
the young man and their colleagues, a representative of parents and
classmates and his many friends .

Michael was very popular in his establishment and in the classroom
because of his human qualities, his sense of friendship, its
seriousness: he was one of the best students in his class in the
words of his teachers collapsed by his brutal and cruel disappearance.

Politicians and representatives of Armenian associations first.

Many faces in tears in the assembly. The packed crowd was even larger
on the outside, tamping is on the square and sidewalks.

Priests, many also officiated in a particularly poignant silence.

A final tribute was said in French and Armenian by a scout –
Micha was part of the Scouts of the Church apostolique- recalling
the recent French tragedies, the Republican running Sunday with the
values associated with it and the importance of the fight against
all racism including recently affecting our community.

“We were all Charlie yesterday, tonight we are all Michael” emotional
slogan which completed this tribute to a young man born in France and
waiting impatiently to obtain French citizenship in 2015. He has not
had the time to know the joy …

The whole community is sad and angry. Rest in peace Michael.

A white march is organized Saturday, January 17th at 14:30 to Mobile
reformed Canebière. Bring a white scarf and a placard “I’m Michael.”

LA COMMUNAUTE ARMENIENNE DE LOS ANGELES COMMUNAUTE REND HOMMAGE A VAHAN HOVANNESIAN

Des centaines de membres de la communaute armenienne se sont reunis a
l’eglise armenienne de Sainte-Marie pour un service de Requiem a la
memoire du chef de file de la Federation revolutionnaire armenienne
Vahan Hovannesian decede le 28 Decembre, après une longue maladie.

Avant la messe de Requiem, le Prelat Mgr Moushegh Mardirossian a
prononce un eloge, dans lequel il a fait l’eloge des annees de Vahan
Hovannesian au service de la FRA et de la nation armenienne, soulignant
sa determination a faire avancer et renforcer le statut d’Etat de
l’Armenie et son rôle dans le mouvement de liberation du Karabagh.

Après le service religieux, les membres de la communaute sont descendus
au Armenag Der Bedrossian Hall, où un rassemblement commemoratif,
organisee par le Comite central de l’Ouest des Etats-Unis de la
FRA, a eu lieu, soulignant la carrière de Vahan Hovannesian et ses
nombreuses contributions.

Au nom du CC de la FRA , Vahe Bozoyan a parle des liens de Vahan
Hovannesian avec la region de l’Ouest, en soulignant les nombreuses
fois où il avait visite la region et avait parle a diverses
celebrations de la FRA.

Le President du parti d’opposition Heritage en Armenie, Raffi
Hovannisian, qui etait present, a egalement pris la parole. Il a parle
de l’amitie et des obligations entre eux et de la perte de Hovannesian
pleure comme un ami, mais le plus important, comme un camarade dans
la quete d’elever l’Armenie comme un veritable Etat democratique.

LE BEBE RESCAPE DU MASSACRE DE GUMRI DANS UN ETAT CRITIQUE

Les medecins armeniens se battent pour sauver la vie d’un nourrisson de
6 mois, qui a ete grièvement blesse dans une attaque armee a Gumri, qui
a laisse ses parents, ses grands-parents, sa tante et sa soeur morte.

Serioja Avetisian a subi une intervention chirurgicale dans un hôpital
de Gumri lundi, peu après avoir ete poignarde a la poitrine dans la
maison de la famille. Les six autres membres de la famille ont ete
assassines dans leurs lits.

Le petit garcon a ete transporte a l’hôpital Surp Astvatsamayr a
Erevan le lendemain, maintenu en vie artificiellement.

“L’etat de l’enfant etait et reste extremement preoccupant”, a declare
Nikolay Dallakian, le directeur de l’hôpital et qui a escorte Seryozha
pendant le voyage de près de deux heures de Gumri vers Erevan.

Dallakian declare que bien que les coups de couteau ne pas endommager
les organes vitaux, le bebe orphelin a perdu beaucoup de sang et
attrape un rhume parce qu’il a recu les premiers soins que plusieurs
heures après le bain de sang, qui a apparemment ete effectuee par un
soldat russe servant dans Gyumri.

Les autorites croient qu’un soldat a attaque la famille, pour des
raisons encore inconnues.

Le ministre de la Sante armenien, Armen Mouradian, a personnellement
supervise les efforts pour sauver la vie de Serioja : “L’enfant a
ete transfere dans un centre medical mieux equipe”.

“Nous avons convoque une reunion de nos principaux specialistes
medicaux”, a declare Muradian. “J’espère que nos efforts porteront
leurs fruits … ”

Turkey’s FM Cavusoglu slams parallel structure, says movement is
working against Turkey even on Armenia issue

ANKARA (AA) – The parallel structure makes every attempt possible to
weaken Turkey, the country’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusuoglu said
on Monday.

Pennsylvania-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen’s so-called
Hizmet movement is accused of forming a criminal gang — popularly
referred to as the parallel state — within Turkey’s key institutions,
including the judiciary and the police.

The movement runs a vast network of for-profit educational institutions
in the U.S. and across the world.

The Turkish government accuses Gulen supporters of lobbying
unspecified foreign elements to topple President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s
administration and of being behind online leaks, phone hacking and
spying on high-ranking officials.

Cavusoglu slammed the parallel structure and said the movement is
working against Turkey even on the Armenian issue. “We have to defend
the interests of our country,” he said.

The 1915 incidents took place during World War I when a portion of
the Armenian population living in the Ottoman Empire sided with the
invading Russians and revolted against the empire. The uprisings
came about after a decision by the empire to relocate Armenians in
eastern Anatolia.

The Armenian diaspora and the state of Armenia have both described
the incidents as “genocide” and have asked for compensation.

In April 2014, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was then
the prime minister, had offered his condolences to Armenians, who died
during the 1915 incidents. The move was considered the beginning of
a normalization process between Turkey and Armenia.

according to his agent Mino Raiola.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan would be ‘suitable’ for Juventus, according to his
agent Mino Raiola. The Bianconeri have been linked with the Borussia
Dortmund midfielder after giving up on signing Wesley Sneijder, and
the Armenian midfielder’s agent says it’s possible he could move to
Serie A.

“He’s an extraordinary footballer, on both a technical and professional
level,” was Raiola’s assessment in an interview with Radio Anch’io
Sport.

“He grew up in Armenia, then moved to Shakhtar Donetsk. He can create
assists and goals, he’s useful to a team.

“He’s suitable for Juve, he can be part of one of the top 10 teams in
the world. However, it’s difficult to see Borussia Dortmund letting
him go, but he could bring something extra to the Italian League.

“We’ll see if he can get to Serie A.” OUR VIEW

Mkhitaryan is an elite level footballer who would be suitable for a
number of elite clubs, including Juventus. As Raiola says though, that
is all down to Dortmund. These quotes are rather bizarre though. Maybe
Raiola is trying to secure a contract extension for his client. If
Dortmund do fail to get out of their current predicament – they are
second from bottom of the Bundesliga – then they will have to sell.

However, they will be keen to hold on to all their best players as
they try to force their way up the league.
