LE CALME RELATIF A LA FRONTIERE DU A L’AMELIORATION DU SYSTEME D’OBSERVATION

Le ministre de la Defense, Seyran Ohanian, a impute le calme relatif
observe recemment a la frontière avec l’Azerbaïdjan ainsi que le long
de la ligne de contact dans le Haut-Karabagh a l’amelioration des
systèmes d’observation mis en place par les forces armees armeniennes.

S’exprimant lors d’une conference de presse a Erevan hier, Seyran
Ohanian a aussi en partie attribue cette diminution des tensions a
un processus de negociation plus actif mene tout recemment.

“On peut dire que la situation a la frontière est aujourd’hui
relativement calme parce que l’armee armenienne et celle du
Haut-Karabagh ont pendant des annees travaille sur l’amelioration de
leurs services en matière de droits de combat”, a declare le ministre
armenien de la Defense. “Aujourd’hui, nous avons ameliore notre
système, ce qui permet d’effectuer des observations, de detecter
l’ennemi, de prendre des decisions et les mettre en oeuvre plus
efficacement.”

De l’avis de Ohanian, les efforts plus actifs des mediateurs
internationaux contribuent egalement a reduire les tensions.

“Je pense que l’atmosphère politique, les reunions, l’activite
des trois copresidents du Groupe de Minsk de l’OSCE, les efforts
apportes dans le cadre d’une reunion des presidents des deux pays
ont aussi eu un impact sur la situation “, a t-il ajoute. “Nous, les
chefs militaires, avons toujours exhorte les institutions politiques
internationales a soulever cette question.”

S.D. HUNCHAKIAN NAZARBEK YOUTH PROTEST AZERI PROPAGANDA EVENT

PARIS – The Social Democrat Hunchakian Party’s Nazarbek Youth Movement,
took to the streets to protest the European Azerbaijan Society’s
(TEAS) event on Feb. 24, commemorating the disputed “Khojaly massacre”
at the Adyar Theater located in the 7th district in Paris.

The Youth of Nazarbek expressed their indignation towards the event
which propagated lies and distorted history. The youth distributed
literature exposing the injustices of Aliyev’s dictatorship, and held
up protest signs that read “France and Armenia are not for sale.”

“The purpose of this event promoting a fictitious massacre, was
to create an illusion of an Azeri diaspora by the well-funded, oil
rich Azeri government,” the Nazarbek Youth Movement declared in a
statement. “The Azeris believe that they are establishing a diaspora
under the appearance of Soft Power. Yet there was an extremely low
turnout at the event proving that it was a farce.”

The youth also expressed solidarity with Leyla Yunus, an Azeri
human-rights activist imprisoned by the dictatorial Azeri government
in July 2014, along with all victims of the war. “This war, continued
by the war-loving Aliyev dictatorship, has taken hostage, the Azeri
and Armenian populations of the region, which only benefits the Aliyev
dictatorship.” the statement continued.

In response to the TEAS event and Azerbaijan’s attempts to blur
the evidence by representing the victims as the aggressors, the
Hunchakian Nazarbek Youth Movement will host a conference with Hovannes
Guevorkian, Representative of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabagh to
France, to commemorate the Sumgait pogrom, which took place on Feb 27 –
29 prior to the war in 1988. The conference will take place on Friday,
February 27 at 8:30 p.m. at the Hunchakian Armenian Youth Center in
Alfortville, France.

NO “ARMENIAN GENOCIDE” IN TURKEY’S HISTORY

There was no “genocide” against Armenians in the history of Turkey,
a top Turkish official said on February 25.

Turkish Parliamentary Speaker Cemil Cicek said Ankara was doing its
best to stand against the Armenian diaspora worldwide as it attempts
to denigrate and sully Turkey’s reputation and history.

“Turkey has always ensured that its archives remain open to
investigation into the events of 1915,” he noted, calling on Yerevan
to do the same, if they indeed had similar archives.

In his early remarks, Cicek accused Armenia of trying to turn its
1915 propaganda into a source of income exploiting its so-called
“genocide” to further its political and financial standing amid the
international community.

“Turkey holds no ill feelings towards the Armenian people. But this
does not mean that we will remain silent and inactive before Armenia’s
anti-Turkish campaign,” Cicek declared.

Turkey is ambiguously denying Armenia’s claims that the Ottoman Empire
systematically executed Armenians back in 1915.

Top Turkish leaders have said the events of 1915 were a difficult
time not only for Armenians, but also for Arabs, Kurds and other
ethnic minorities in the region.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu highlighted Armenia’s groundless
1915 genocide propaganda as a hindrance to the normalization of
relations between Ankara and Yerevan.

He insisted that although Ankara hopes for the normalization of
relations with Yerevan, Armenia would need to end its campaign against
Turkey and turn the page on its prejudices.

Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that Turkey’s predecessor, the
Ottoman Empire allegedly carried out a “genocide” against Armenians
living in Anatolia in 1915.

The Armenian authorities have always hanged on the hope that world
leaders would support their allegations.

But before a lack of historical evidences, such claims have been
rejected en masse.

U.S. President Barack Obama, actually unequivocally avoided to use
the word genocide in his annual speeches on the falsified “Armenian
genocide.”

Hasan Celal Guzel, a well-known Turkish journalist and politician,
claims that the alleged “Armenian genocide” is a mere falsification
of historical events.

“Relocation of the Armenians dating back to May 27, 1915, is not an
“Armenian genocide. When the Armenians massacred more than 30,000
Turks and Kurds in Van, the leadership of the Ottoman empire decided
to relocate the Armenian population. Relocation cannot be interpreted
as genocide or massacre under any circumstances,” Guzel said.

“The Ottoman archives along with the U.S. National Archives and Records
Administration and national archives of England, Russia, France and
Germany clearly reveal that the number of Armenians who were lost
over that period stand at about 400,000,” confirmed Guzel, adding that
Armenia’s number – 1.5 million deaths – carries no link with reality.

The Armenian authorities and diaspora are preparing to solemnly mark
the 100th anniversary of the so-called “genocide” on April 24, 2015.

Armenia insisted it wants Turkey to admit to its so-called guilt even
though all evidences prove that no genocide ever took place.

But since Armenia has been unable to command any factual proofs to
support its claims, its calls for “recognition” have fallen into
deaf ears.

AYB SCHOOL AND VIVACELL-MTS HAVE SUMMED UP THE RESULTS OF THEIR COOPERATION

The Ayb School robotics team continues to present our country on
the international platform with distinction. VivaCell-MTS has a
contribution in these achievements through cooperation, the press
service of VivaCell-MTS has told ArmInfo.

The football playing robots created by students of Ayb School were
successfully presented during the World Robot Olympiad in Sochi in
2014. Football playing robots as well as fire- fighting and line
tracking robots and UAVs were demonstrated in the robotics lab,
together with the projects that are currently in the focus of Ayb
students.

“In Armenia the lack of the necessary knowledge, experience and
infrastructure hinders the rapid development of many fields. The
robotics field, though, is in a phase of rapid growth, where amateur
groups very often produce more effective results than experienced
research institutions do,” noted Aram Pakhchanian, principal of
Ayb School.

“VivaCell-MTS attaches great importance to revealing and nurturing
the creative potential in young people. We are where we see such
an opportunity. It is a pleasure to witness the efforts of robotics
students crowned with success,” commented VivaCell-MTS General Manager
Ralph Yirikian.

The Ayb School robotics lab was founded with the financial support of
VivaCell-MTS in 2013. Since then, the students have brought to life
their ideas in computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical
engineering, actively participated in national and international
competitions, achieving significant results. Thus, in 2012, two of
the three Ayb robotics teams, participating in “ArmRobotics” open
competition, took the first two places, and in 2014 the Ayb robotics
team led the chart in the same competition with distinction. In 2013,
the Ayb robotics team was awarded a special prize for its “AybStorm”
robot as the best theoretical solution at the “Fire Fighting Home
Robot” international contest held at Trinity College (Connecticut,
USA) hosting more than 130 teams representing 7 countries. The two
teams from Ayb School also took part in 2014 World Robot Olympiad
in Sochi, presenting our country with honor. The team has recorded
other achievements as well.

The school robotics team is currently involved in a number of
competition and non- competition projects. For participation in the
“Fire Fighting Home Robot” contest to be held in 2016 at Trinity
College, the team is constructing a fire-fighting robot, as well as
a new UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle).

Also, a presentation of UAVs is planned in Artsakh this summer.

For the exchange of experience, research and consultation,
teachers from other schools, collaborating with Ayb, as well as
the representatives of other teams have used the robotics lab of
the school.

EMMY AWARD WINNING COMPOSER DENISE GENTILINI TO STAGE MUSICAL ON ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

A three time Emmy award winning composer Denise Gentilini, along with
singer, songwriter Lisa Nemzo, has created I Am Alive, a dramatic
musical that spans a nearly 75 year love story of her grandparents,
celebrating the strength and resilience of the Armenian people.

Denise Gentilini is the granddaughter of Kourken and Malvine Handjian,
“My grandfather, Kourken, became an orphan at the age of eight. His
father was killed when the Armenian genocide started in central Turkey,
in 1915, where he lived with his family. Along with his surviving
family, he was sent on what would become the death march of men, women
and children across the Syrian desert to concentration camps. But a
Turkish man had pity on this little boy. He rescued him and placed
him in an orphanage. He never saw his family again. My grandmother
Malvine also lived in Turkey. Her father was poisoned in the genocide
and because she had too many siblings for her mother to handle, she
was given away to another family to be raised by them. As surviving
Armenians were deported from Turkey, both Kourken and Malvine wound up
in a refugee camp in Greece where they found each other. When she was
14 and he was 19 they married, and spent nearly 75 years together,”
Denise Gentilini said, speaking to Fox 31 Denver.

Gentilini says while she’s known her history for decades, she chose
this year to share what her family went through. “In April it will
be the 100th commemoration of the Armenian Genocide, and I wanted
to tell the story in a different way. So along with internationally
celebrated singer songwriter Lisa Nemzo, we created I Am Alive,
a dramatic musical that spans a nearly 75 year love story of my
grandparents, celebrating the strength and resilience of the Armenian
people. There have been plays and movies and marches, but I’ve never
heard a musical. I believe music is a universal language, so even
those who don’t know about this time in history might be interested
because the music makes it accessible.”

Gentilini, an Emmy award winning composer, says I Am Alive, directed
by Christy Montour-Larson, is a continuation of the work she’s been
doing in music for years. “As part of the “We Are Voices” project I’ve
composed music for Children’s Hospital on Autism, for the Iliff School
of Theology for their Courage Award for Judy Shephard and for genocide
awareness. I grew up with my grandparents nearby and always knew what
they lived through and handed down to us was amazing. It made me want
to be an activist and do something: to be the voice for the voiceless.”

GALUST SAHAKYAN SILENCES HERMINE NAGHDALYAN WITH HIS REPROACHFUL LOOK (VIDEO)

Before the start of the parliamentary sitting, Speaker of the National
Assembly Galust Sahakyan suggested observing one minute of silence
for Samvel Shahmuradyan, a writer, publicist, journalist and a member
of the Supreme Council.

Someone in the hall reminded Mr Sahakyan that February 25 is also
the birthday of General Andranik Ozanian [known as Zoravar Andranik].

“Let us congratulate his birthday as well,” Galust Sahakyan said
indifferently.

The lawmaker who reminded Mr Sahakyan of General Andarnik’s birthday
was Heritage party lawmaker Zaruhi Postanjyan. ” Zoravar Andranik,
the brightest and the most brilliant representative of our nation,
would turn 150 today. We have so many things to learn from him that
will lead to the prosperity of our country. I congratulate all of us
on this day. Happy birthday, dear Andranik!” she said.

Then the legislature put the amendments to the RA Law on Income
Tax to the vote. The lawmakers of the Country of Law Party (OEK),
Armenian National Congress (HAK) and Armenian Revolutionary
Federation-Dashnaktsutyun said they were going to vote against
the bill.

This angered Hermine Naghdalyan, Republican Vice-Speaker of the
National Assembly, who began scolding the opposition for their
position. She was so angered that did not pay attention even to Galust
Sahakyan’s warnings about the time.

OK MP MHer Shageldyan said they have a serious concern that the new
law will result in monopoly on export. “We suggest holding additional
discussions on the bill instead of adopting it promptly.”

Addressing Hermine Baghdalyan, HAK MP Hrant Bagratyan said, “Mrs.

Naghdalyan, I respect you but I suggest that you change either yourself
or the laws of economics, as your words contradict economics.

You are not a professor of economics.”

Hermine Naghdalyan was going to respond to the opposition lawmaker
from her seat when Galust Sahakyan cast a reproachful look at her.

The hall burst out laughing.

The bill was adopted with 64 votes in favour, 5 against and one
abstention.

TURKISH PARLIAMENT SPEAKER URGES TURKS ABROAD TO BE UNITED LIKE ARMENIANS

Turks living abroad should be more like the Armenian diaspora when
it comes to standing up for their home country, a senior Turkish
politician has said.

The speaker of the Turkish parliament, Cemil Cicek, told Turkish
people living in Canada that they need a more “organized” association.

Cicek was speaking in the Canadian capital Wednesday.

“There is a need to organize a lobby, to reveal a reaction if need
be and to convey opinions to others,” Cicek told a meeting of Turkish
community representatives in Ottawa.

Cicek cited Armenians as an example of how a small number of people
did much more than the many Turkish citizens living abroad.

“A group of 200 Armenians apply to the parliament of the country they
live in and ask for a motion on the allegations that Turks committed
genocide, whereas 50,000 Turkish citizens fail to make a 500-signature
petition,” he said.

Cicek said divisions among Turkish associations were the reason for
this lack of action and called for unity.

DERSIM-ARMENIANS LEARNING NATIVE TONGUE

The Armenian residents of Turkey’s Dersim region have started learning
Armenian as part of a recently announced cooperation initiative with
the Alevis.

The Istanbul-based Armenian publication Hye Tert reports that the
two communities have already launched an association to realize
joint projects.

“An important concern for the Dersim-Armenians is that they have
forgotten their language. To bridge that gap, our first task was to
organize courses. Tigran Lokmagyozyan, an Istanbul-Armenian currently
residing in Armenia, has now come to Dersim for that reason. We
have 15 students for the starting period,” Serkan Meriatash, the
association’s founder, told the publication.

He unveiled plans for conducting different events in April, ahead of
the Armenian Genocide centenary. Meriatash said that a delegation of
Dersim village mayors is now considering a possible visit to Armenia
from April 16 to 20 for organizing a public screening of movies.

LE LIBAN, REFUGE PRECAIRE DES CHRETIENS D’ORIENT

Depuis l’arrivée massive des Arméniens fuyant les massacres de 1915,
le Liban est l’une des principales terres d’asile pour les chrétiens
déplacés de la région.

La Croix a choisi de présenter des itinéraires personnels des
chrétiens d’Orient. Rencontres dans le quartier de Bourj Hammoud,
a Beyrouth, où les réfugiés ne cessent d’affluer depuis l’arrivée
des Arméniens fuyant le génocide, il y a cent ans.

Poignée de main ferme, visage émacié, Rafad Salem Casmoussa,
35 ans, raconte a grande vitesse le parcours qui l’a mené, en
quelques années, du centre de Bagdad au petit deux-pièces qu’il loue
aujourd’hui avec sa famille pour 300 dollars mensuels a Bourj Hammoud,
dans la périphérie de Beyrouth.

Le 31 octobre 2010, lorsqu’un commando islamiste ouvre le feu dans la
cathédrale de Bagdad bondée pour la Toussaint, tuant une soixantaine
de fidèles, Rafad se trouve dans l’assemblée.

Le jeune catéchiste, qui a déja perdu un frère dans l’explosion
d’une voiture piégée, quitte aussitôt Bagdad pour la plaine de
Ninive, dans le nord du pays, où il est embauché dans une usine
d’aluminium.

Quatre ans plus tard, dans la nuit du 5 au 6 aoÔt 2014, Rafad, son
épouse Lara, alors enceinte, et leur bébé se retrouvent sur la
route avec des milliers d’autres chrétiens fuyant l’avancée de Daech.

Parvenue a Erbil a pied, la famille rejoint Bagdad, puis Beyrouth
par avion. ” Ils ont détruit l’usine, nous n’avons presque rien
pu emporter… Si j’avais su, nous n’aurions pas fait de deuxième
enfant ”, lâche le père, une grande lassitude dans la voix.

Ã~@ Beyrouth, Rafad s’est trouvé un emploi de tailleur et
bénéficie d’une aide de la part d’ONG chrétiennes. Au total,
a peine de quoi payer le loyer et rembourser les 3 000 dollars de
frais d’hospitalisation de leur nourrisson.

pourraient revivre ”

Ã~@ cause de la guerre en Syrie, puis de la descente aux enfers de
l’Irak, l’arrivée massive de réfugiés a bouleversé la physionomie
du Liban.

Estimés a plus d’un million, soit le quart de la population de ce
petit pays aux équilibres politiques et religieux complexes, ils
se concentrent dans les zones frontalières, mais aussi autour de
Beyrouth, la capitale.

Parmi eux, une minorité de chrétiens a fui les violences et la
guerre, comme les musulmans, mais avec la certitude que jamais
plus ils ne reviendront dans leur pays. ” La Syrie est a terre,
presque tous les chrétiens sont partis et je ne vois pas comment
nos communautés pourraient revivre ”, lance Samaher, une syrienne
orthodoxe de Hassaké, réfugiée avec sa famille dans un vieux
conteneur, sur les hauteurs de Beyrouth.

Menaces de mort répétées, enfants traumatisés par la perte de
voisins ou de proches… Après un parcours chaotique entre la Syrie,
l’Ã~Igypte et le Liban, cette ancienne coiffeuse attend avec son mari,
ex-menuisier employé de boulangerie, le statut de réfugiés pour
gagner l’Australie.

En attendant, Samaher affine son anglais grâce aux cours dispensés
par la Caritas et recoit une aide de la paroisse syrienne orthodoxe
voisine.

La tragédie des chrétiens réfugiés au Liban a débuté il y a
un siècle.

Ceux qui l’ont inaugurée sont les Arméniens, les rescapés du
génocide perpétré par les Jeunes-Turcs – 1,2 million de morts
entre 1915 et 1916. Un grand nombre de ceux qui gagnèrent l’actuel
Liban s’installèrent a Bourj Hammoud, aux portes de Beyrouth.

Conservateur du fonds photographique de l’université Saint-Joseph,
Lévon Nordiguian, arménien orthodoxe, feuillette un ouvrage édité
par ses soins. Il s’arrête sur le portrait d’une fillette de 4 ans.

” C’est ma mère. Elle avait six mois lorsque sa famille fut chassée
de la province d’Adana (Cilicie). Sur neuf de ses oncles et tantes,
seuls deux survécurent… Du côté de mon père, nous n’avons plus
aucune trace. ”

que nous sommes ”

Le camp de Bourj Hammoud, construit en dur par les Arméniens dans les
années 1920, est aujourd’hui un vaste quartier populaire de Beyrouth.

L’arrivée de milliers de familles réfugiées, notamment syriennes,
a fait exploser les loyers et le prix des denrées alimentaires dans
ces rues où se concentrent depuis des générations les échoppes
d’artisans arméniens.

Diplôme de paysagiste en poche, Sarine Hagopian, 26 ans, les
arpente depuis l’enfance. ” Nous faisons depuis longtemps partie
de la mosaïque libanaise. J’ai étudié dans une école arménienne
où l’éducation se fait en quatre languesâ~@~I : arménien, arabe,
francais, anglais. Notre défi est de nous ouvrir au monde sans
oublier ce que nous sommes, nos savoir-faire, notre culture… ”

Sarine est un pilier de ” Badguèr ”, jeune association fondée par
Arpi Mangassarian, chef du département d’urbanisme de la municipalité
de Bourj Hammoud. L’objectif de cette architecte passionnéeâ~@~I :
valoriser et transmettre le patrimoine culturel arménien, dans un
contexte rendu plus difficile par l’arrivée des réfugiés et la
concurrence des produits asiatiques.

Solidarité communautaire oblige au Proche-Orient, les familles
arméniennes de Syrie savent pouvoir compter sur l’aide des ONG
arméniennes de Bourj Hammoud, notamment pour trouver un toit et
se soigner.

Leurs enfants sont en général pris en charge dans les écoles
arméniennes. Mais les dizaines de milliers d’autres enfants syriens
n’ont pas cette chance. Sans papiers, livrés a eux-mêmes, ils sont
a la merci des exploiteurs et trafiquants de tout poil.

Casquette vissée sur la tête, le docteur Robert Caracache effectue
un saut dans sa ” clinique ”, l’appartement où il officie comme
psychothérapeute a la lisière de Bourj Hammoud. Ce sexagénaire
pressé dirige le Foyer de la Lumière, une ONG de réinsertion des
mineurs délinquants soutenue par l’Ã~Iglise grecque-catholique.

Ces derniers temps, l’accueil des réfugiés syriens est devenu une
priorité, a commencer par leur scolarisation. Arménien catholique –
un petit drapeau rouge-bleu-abricot surnage au milieu de la paperasse
-, le docteur Caracache n’en revendique pas moins le caractère
universel de sa démarche. ” Il est tentant d’aider en priorité
les chrétiens arméniens ou syriaques… Mais quel sens cela
aurait-ilâ~@~I ? Ici, nous servons le tout-venant. ”

En plein cÃ…”ur du quartier chrétien d’Ash­rafieh, où les tours en
chantier rivalisent de hauteur, Charles Nasrallah raconte la genèse
de l’association Insan – ” être humain ” en arabe -, l’une des
seules au Liban a revendiquer son caractère non confessionnel.

Maronite formé chez les Frères des Ã~Icoles chrétiennes, ce
quadragénaire a très tôt ouvert les yeux sur la condition des
réfugiés dans son pays. Sa réponseâ~@~I : garantir l’accès de
tous a un minimum de droits.

” Au début, le fait de n’être d’aucune Ã~Iglise, d’aucune mosquée,
d’aucun parti nous rendait suspects et nous a fermé des portes. ”
Quinze ans plus tard, Insan est devenu un interlocuteur privilégié
pour les bailleurs de fonds américains, suisses ou francais.

” De plus en plus d’acteurs extérieurs, y compris catholiques,
nous contactent parce qu’ils savent que nous travaillons avec tout
le monde. ” Les 23 permanents de l’association et la trentaine de
bénévoles, chrétiens, musulmans ou druzes, accueillent chaque matin

Irakiens, Palestiniens, Congolais, Ghanéens, Ã~Ithiopiens…

Insan suit et finance également le cursus scolaire de 200 autres
enfants, placés dans des écoles publiques et privées. Récemment,
elle a aussi ouvert un foyer pour jeunes délinquants. ” Nous sommes
encore une exception, reconnaît Charles Nasrallah. Mais un espace
citoyen est en train de s’ouvrir au Liban. ”

Dans un quartier mélangé du nord de Beyrouth, a deux pas de Bourj
Hammoud, un calvaire grandeur nature trône depuis quelques mois au
beau milieu du trafic. Ã~Ichaudés par l’afflux d’un grand nombre de
réfugiés musulmans, des jeunes maronites originaires de la Bekaa
ont ainsi voulu marquer leur territoire.

” Ce n’est pourtant pas dans la tradition maronite, observe Bertrand,
un petit frère de Charles-de-Foucauld installé depuis trente ans
dans les quartiers déshérités. Mais dans les périodes troublées,
le marquage religieux réapparaît. ”

Vingt-cinq ans après une guerre que personne ne veut revivre au Liban,
les tensions entre communautés continuent d’affleurer. Professeur de
médecine et de philosophie a l’université Saint-Joseph, le docteur
Antoine Courban, un grec-orthodoxe, déplore cette tendance persistante
au repli.

” Tous les chrétiens n’ont pas entendu le cri de Jean-Paul II
qui les exhortait, dès 1997, a sortir de leur cocon communautaire
pour s’engager de plain-pied dans la société. Si les mentalités
évoluent chez les étudiants, les forces sociales traditionnelles
conservent une inertie redoutable. ”

AU MENU DU PETIT DEJEUNER DE CETTE SEMAINE, LA NEGATION DU GENOCIDE

COMMUNIQUE DU CONSEIL NATIONAL ARMENIEN DU CANADA

Ottawa. Le Comite National Armenien du Canada (CNAC) denonce la
manoeuvre du Conseil des Canadiens Turcs (CCT), et l’invitation de
deux negationnistes des Etats-Unis, afin qu’ils s’expriment devant des
parlementaires canadiens et des membres du personnel de l’assemblee.

Le CCT a invite des membres de la communaute parlementaire a un
petit-dejeuner leger au restaurant du parlement, pour un prix modique,
celui d’assister a une discussion titree ” Première Guerre Mondiale
100ème anniversaire d’une souffrance humaine en Anatolie de l’est “.

L’invitation ne dit pas, cependant, que les orateurs prevus au cours
de cette discussion ont fait leur carrière sur la negation du Genocide
armenien, qu’ils presenteront sans aucun doute une version deformee
de l’histoire et qu’ils condamneront la decision courageuse du Canada
de reconnaître le Genocide armenien.

Le premier orateur de la liste est le professeur Justin McCarthy. Le
professeur McCarthy a ete le sujet d’une lettre speciale ecrite par
l’Association Internationale des Chercheurs en Genocides (la principale
organisation de specialistes du domaine d’etudes du genocide), le 1
octobre 2006.

La lettre de l’AICG declare entre autres choses : Les chercheurs
qui contestent que ce qui est arrive aux Armeniens dans l’Empire
ottoman en 1915 soit un genocide, ignorent purement et simplement
un fait historique et scientifique incontestable. Très recemment,
c’est le cas des travaux de M. Justin McCarthy et M. Guenter Lewy,
dont les ecrits s’engagent dans des etudes gravement tendancieuses qui
deforment grossièrement l’histoire. Comme l’a note Deborah Lipstadt,
la chercheuse sur le genocide : ” La negation d’un genocide, que ce
soit celui des Turcs envers les Armeniens, ou des Nazis envers les
Juifs n’est pas un acte de reinterpretation historique… Le but des
negationnistes est de convaincre des tiers innocents qu’il y a un
autre côte de l’histoire… alors qu’il n’y a aucun autre côte.

Le deuxième intervenant est le procureur US Bruce Fein, dont la thèse
est la representation des interets sur fond du Genocide armenien. Les
representations de M. Fein sur ces questions n’ont pas ete exemptes
de problèmes. Le 5 août 2011, la Commission ethique de la Chambre des
representants des Etats-Unis declarait : ” En outre, M. Fein et les
autres conseils de la Representante Schmidt, les ont specifiquement
confirmes comme conseillers principaux du Fond de Defense Juridique
Americain Turc “. Cette declaration semble contradictoire avec le
fait que les conseils de la Representante Schmidt n’etaient pas des
employes du FDJAT ou de [la Coalition Turque d’Amerique], et seraient
au contraire exterieurs au conseil, dressant des factures regulièrement
a la CTA.

Telle est au fond la declaration que M. Fein a omis de faire a un
membre elu de la Chambre des Representants au sujet de la personne
pour qui il travaillait en realite, ce qui n’a pas manque de poser des
questions ethiques importantes envers la congressiste. La Commission
d’ethique en avait fait specifiquement mention en disant :

” La Commission s’etonne du fait que les avocats associes avec le
FDJAT n’aient jamais rendu public leur convention de règlement avec
la CTA a la representante Schmidt. Une telle revelation aurait rendu
inutile cette enquete “.

Il faut noter que l’invitation de la CCT au groupe de discussion
occulte la question sur l’identite de la personne pour laquelle
travaille M. Fein et sur qui paie ses factures. Le president du CNAC
le Dr Giraïr Basmajian a declare : ” la decision du CCT de salir le
coeur meme de la democratie canadienne avec l’ignominie de la negation
du Genocide armenien vient a l’encontre des valeurs canadiennes. Les
membres de la communaute parlementaire qui participeront a ce
petit-dejeuner de la CCT devraient se munir de quelque medication
forte, les deformations et omissions des intervenants pouvant etre
très indigestes.
