The Fight Of Legal And Moral Assessment Of Nemesis Presented By Dury

THE FIGHT OF LEGAL AND MORAL ASSESSMENT OF NEMESIS PRESENTED BY DURYAN

14:25 . 16/04

The premiere of the performance of Narek Duryan “Operation Nemesis”
will be staged at the Puppet Theatre on April 19. It is based on the
play of Perch Proshyan “All rise, court is now in session!” and the
works of French historians on “Nemesis”.

According to Narek Durian, the performance is a fight of feeling and
facts: Soghomon Tehleryan, who had killed Taleat Pasha was guilty
before the law, but within the borders of human morality this crime
was heroism.

It is especially stressed in the performance that Nemesis Operation
was a terrorist act and no casual person suffered from it.

In 2001 Narek Duryan staged the play at Hakop Paronyan Theatre. He
says the performance was played for four times in a crowded hall. The
director knows such serious performances usually aren’t staged long
but this doesn’t mean that they mustn’t be staged at all.

“I am the subjective emotion, and there is also a historian performing
the objective facts. And juggling takes place between the emotion
and the historical fact. The guys from “Mim” studio play with me and
it seems to be a machine of time, we are in Germany then in Armenia,
in the mountains, and then in fedayi [fighters] fields,” Durian told
a little about the performance.

‘Operation Nemesis’ Performance By Narek Duryan Dedicated To The Arm

‘OPERATION NEMESIS’ PERFORMANCE BY NAREK DURYAN DEDICATED TO THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

Tert.am
16.04.12

Film director, actor Narek Duryan is going to present to the audience
a new “Operation Nemesis” theatrical performance dedicated to the
Armenian Genocide.

The director rated high the staging of this performance claiming that
not much is being spoken about that page of Armenia’s history. “I
think not much is being spoken about this heroic page of our history
today. We do not have any right to forget about it,” the art figure
stressed.

Speaking about the subject of the performance, the director said
it is based on two approaches – Pertch Zeytuntsyan’s “Stand up,
court is coming” piece and on the works of two French historians. He
particularly stressed that the planned assassination of Talaat Pasha
by Soghomon Tehleryan was not a terrorism like the Turks are claiming.

“No other person suffered, it was not a terrorism act,” he stressed.

Eleven actors will play in the performance, among who is Avo Khalatyan,
well known to the public and actors of “Nim” studio.

The film director found it difficult to say how long the performance
will live as he is not sure he has succeeded. Ara Khzmalyan, theatrical
critic, said he viewed the final rehearsal of the performance and is
convinced that it will be staged for quite a long time as it meets
the demands of contemporary theatre.

“The biggest issue today the Armenian theatre is facing is the
perception of time and rhythm,” he said, adding that in this respect
Duryan is exclusive as he has a brilliant sense of rhythm. “The most
important for me in this performance is the rhythmic-melodic image,”
the critic said.

According to Khzmalyan, the most important is that Duryan was not
taken away by the theme as it kills the art. Another privilege he
said is the performance is short – an hour and a half.

“The scenarist must take care not to bore the audience,” he said.

Narek Duryan thinks the short performance is right for tragic genre
and especially for Armenian audience. “It is difficult to bring people
to watch tragedies, they do not want to cry any more, that is why it
is necessary to prepare short performances,” he said.

Nevertheless, the director said the performance on Genocide theme
will surely excite the audience. “If I say you are not going to cry it
will not be truth. In the same way I cannot say you will get furious
and shout that you will kill all,” the director said.

PanARMENIAN.Net – Head of Forum of Armenian Associations of Europe
(FAAE) Ashot Grigorian issued a letter to the U.S. President Barack
Obama with a request and a demand to keep his promise given to
Armenians worldwide and use the word Genocide in his annual speech

Mr. Grigorian noted that the fist letter pursuing the same goal was
written back in 2009, signed by many prominent Armenians, including
Charles Aznavour, famous violinist Sergey Khachatryan, the then
speaker of the Cypriot parliament Marios Garoyian, Olympic chess
champion Levon Aronian and others.

“Armenians still hope that the U.S. President will demonstrate enough
courage to speak for justice and will make vital steps for the future
of the mankind,” Grigorian writes.

According to him, correct decision by Obama will help him restore
authority on the threshold of elections.

“We hope that justice is not purchased. We look forward to your April
24 address with hope,” Grigorian concluded.

Teghut Residents Block Way To Mining Plant

TEGHUT RESIDENTS BLOCK WAY TO MINING PLANT

15:37 ~U 17.04.12

A crowd of people from Teghut village (Lori region) have gathered on
the way leading to the Armenian Copper Program (APC) CJSC’s plant
to voice their protest against a recent incident between several
villagers and security guards that badly affected three people.

Photo reporter Gagik Shamshyan says around 500 residents of Teghut
have now gathered on the scene.

According to villagers. the ACP security guards beat three people
in the village yesterday night, leaving three injured. One of them,
Hrachik Kharghmazyan, was hospitalized with fractures. The two other
persons are at home.

Shamshyan had earlier said the situation in the village was very
tense with the police trying to find out what had caused the violence.

Speaking to Tert.am, Sargis Tamazyan, a parliament runner proposed by
the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC), said the villagers
have closed the way to the company’s plant, preventing employees
from getting to work. According to him, vehicle dust had caused the
incident, adding that Kharghmazyan was beaten in front of his wife
and children. The villagers have reportedly promised to block the
way to the plant again in case the problem is not resolved within a
couple of days.
