Dolma Festival held in Odessa, Ukraine

YEREVAN, JULY 7, ARMENPRESS. Dolma Festival was held in the Armenian community of Odessa on July 5 during which 17 types of the favorite dish made by the members of the Women Committee and the Union of Mothers were presented.
AnalitikaUA.net reported that Armenia and the Armenian communities abroad are regularly holding Dolma Festival on the sidelines of the events aimed at developing and preserving the Armenian culinary traditions.
Earlier head of the Union of Armenians of Ukraine Vilen Shatvoryan stated that they “are proud of the rich cultural and historical heritage of Armenians in Ukraine and do everything possible to preserve and popularize it”.

Yerevan court postpones hearing in Serzh Sargsyan’s and others’ case
A Yerevan court on Thursday agreed to postpone by nearly one month a hearing in the trial of third Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and several other former officials.
One of the ex-president’s lawyers, Amram Makinyan, requested the court to postpone the hearing, citing the coronavirus-related situation in Armenia.
Meanwhile, prosecutor Arsen Martirosyan objected to the petition, arguing that all epidemiological measures were in place for the court to proceed with the hearing.
Presiding judge Vahe Misakyan granted the defense motion, scheduling the next hearing for August 6.
The Special Investigative Service charged Serzh Sargsyan with organizing an alleged embezzlement of government funds along with a group of other officials through misuse of official position in December 2019.
The indictment said that Sargsyan used his official position in January and February 2013, when he was president, to steer a government fuel contract to a particular company that cost the state an additional 489 million drams (approx. $1 million) in subsidies.
Armenia’s SU-30 SM jets conducts 1st training with combat missiles

YEREVAN, JULY 3, ARMENPRESS. The SU-30 SM multirole fighter aircrafts of the Armed Forces of Armenia conducted the 1st training with combat missiles, ARMENPRESS reports Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan wrote on his Facebook page, posting a footage of the training.
Armenia received the 1st batch of the SU-30 SM jets in December 2019.

Converse Bank: Eurnekian School graduates receive scholarships

YEREVAN, JUNE 23, ARMENPRESS. The representatives of Converse Bank transferred to the graduates of Eurnekian Secondary School of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin the scholarships accumulated during their studies.
On an annual basis Scholarships are awarded to schoolchildren by Eduardo Eurnekian and the companies under his management in Armenia, including the Bank. Students receive the accumulated funds with Converse Bank payment cards upon their graduation from school. In total, more than $ 17,000 in scholarships will be awarded to 45 graduates of the 2019-2020 academic year, which they can use for purposes, including education and professional development. Since the launch of the project, more than 180 graduates of the school have received scholarships.

It should be noted that Eurnekian Public School was opened in 2009 with the support of Argentinean-Armenian businessman and philanthropist Eduardo Eurnekian. And in 2017, with the support of the philanthropist , the new building of the school was opened, offering all the conditions for organizing education in accordance with international best practices of educational standards.
Russia`s Ambassador meets with MPs of Prosperous Armenia Party
ArmInfo. Ambassador of Russia to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin met with members of Prosperous Armenia Party, Vice-Speaker of the RA Parliament Vahe Enfiajyan and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration Issues of the National Assembly, Mikayel Melkumyan.
According to the press service of the Russian diplomatic mission, the meeting was held at the Russian Embassy. “During the conversation, the parties discussed the development of Russian-Armenian inter- parliamentary relations, the assistance to Russia in the fight against coronavirus infection provided to Armenia both in a bilateral format and within the framework of general integration associations. The parliamentarians also shared their vision of some aspects of the host country’s internal political agenda”, it is noted in the message of the diplomatic mission.
As ArmInfo previously reported, on June 14 the National Security Service conducted surches in the mansion of the oligarch and leader of the Prosperous Armenia party Gagik Tsarukyan, after which he was summoned for interrogation by the NSS. Law enforcement authorities suspect him of illegal entrepreneurial activity in the field of gambling, as a result of which the state was damaged in the amount of $ 60 million, as well as in bribery of voters in 2017 and illegal appropriation of land in the village of Arinj, Kotayk region. On June 16, the Armenian Parliament approved the motion of the Prosecutor General of Armenia Artak Davtyan to deprive Tsarukyan of his parliamentary immunity and bring him as the accused in a criminal case, up to and including imprisonment. The head of the PAP said that he continues to consider the criminal case against him a political persecution, and that he has no connection with the management of the companies attributed to him.
Pashinyan comments on decline in prices of face masks

YEREVAN, JUNE 4, ARMENPRESS. During the meeting with Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Chairman of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition Gegham Gevorgyan expressed hope that the prices of face masks will further decrease.
“Yesterday the SCPEC Chairman reported that the prices of face masks declined to some extent, also thanks to the actions taken, and there is hope that the price will further decline”, PM Pashinyan said live on Facebook today.
Armenia made compulsory wearing face masks in all public places starting June 4 to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to the latest data, 697 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Armenia, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 11,221. The death toll has reached 176. The total number of recovered people is 3,468. The active cases stand at 7,509.

Artsakh soldier dies in car crash

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. Soldier of Artsakh’s Defense Army Sargis Ghulyan, born in 2001, has died on June 3 as a result of a car accident, the defense ministry of Artsakh told Armenpress.
Investigation is underway to clarify the details of the incident.
The defense ministry of Artsakh offers its condolences to the family, relatives and co-servicemen of the soldier.
