“My step” faction announces:

As a result of proper protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, bringing the culprits to justice as a result of a comprehensive, full and objective investigation of the events of March 1 is a historical imperative, which will serve as a message to all RA authorities, to exclude the repetition of one of the blackest pages in the country’s recent history, to restore justice and solidarity, as well as to strengthen the assembly.

2. To provide fair compensation to those injured as a result of the March events and to the successors of the victims.

3. Protection of the right to life is the primary responsibility of the state.

Accordingly, causing the death of RA citizens Samvel Harutyunyan, Tigran Khachatryan, Davit Petrosyan, Armen Farmanyan, Zakar Hovhannisyan, Hamlet Tadevosyan, Gor Kloyyan, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Tigran Abgaryan and Grigor Gevorgyan cannot be justified or remain unpunished.

4. We remember and pay tribute to the victims of March 1st and undertake to make efforts both at the legislative level and in the political culture in general, to make such changes that will create guarantees to exclude future violence and political pressures in social processes, in the direction of citizens exercising their fundamental rights and freedoms freely.”

Armenia President: Karabakh issue can be very perilous if not properly managed Armenia President: Karabakh issue can be very perilous if not properly managed

17:29, 15.02.2019

Unless the frozen conflict is resolved in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), it could be very dangerous if it is not properly managed.

The President of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, stated about the abovementioned during his talk with the students and faculty at Heidelberg University in Germany.

In particular, Sarkissian noted that there is no other way for him except for the resolution of this conflict solely through peace.

He added that various interests and challenges are concentrated in the region, and that the latter truly is a crossroads of different civilizations.

As per Sarkissian, even the smallest destabilizing phenomenon will be very destructive for the region, and therefore there is but one avenue: pacific settlement of the conflict.

The Armenian President expressed the hope that the resolution of the Karabakh conflict will be based on rationality and human values, and that its final solution will be reached by considering the rights of the population of Artsakh.

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 12, ARMENPRESS. Fight against corruption is of key importance for the Government of Armenia and Nikol Pashinyan considers it as one of the most important achievements of the Government, Nikol Pashinyan talked about this during the presentation of the Government’s Action Plan at the parliament.

“In fact, systematic corruption in Armenia is brought to its knees, but fight against corruption and anti-corruption policy need some institutional foundations. And I think one of the key points of the Government’s Action Plan in terms of fight against corruption is the following – we have to strengthen all the levers by which the citizens of the Republic of Armenia should have the opportunity to oversee the property and possession of not only the state officials of Armenia, but also of those with great opportunities to assume state offices”, ARMENPRESS reports Pashinyan as saying.

He explained the idea bringing an example, that if someone wants to become Prime Minister or MP, he should authorize a relevant state body to seek information about his or his relatives’ properties worldwide, where the state body will act as the representative of the person trying to assume office. Pashinyan clarified that it’s very important for the state body to be authorized to act as the representative of the owner, since it will give an opportunity to avoid some obstacles which could rise if the state body acted as an investigator. “Moreover, all the officials or candidates who will refuse to grant the relevant state body with the power of attorney, they should be deprived of the right to assume any state position in the Republic of Armenia”, the PM added, emphasizing that it’s not a violation of human rights, since they do not force everyone to behave that way, but only those who have the ambitions to become a state official and serve the Republic of Armenia and its people.

“Therefore, the people hiring those individuals to serve them should have guarantees of 100% transparency, and to be able to record what the individual possessed when assuming the post, where and how much he had, and what he has now and how his property changed after he left the office” In fact, this is a tool the guarantees the end of corruption in Armenia”, Nikol Pashinyan said.
