Experienced IP Engineers to Help Meet Demand for Synopsys’ DesignWare

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Synopsys, Inc.
(Nasdaq: SNPS), the world leader in semiconductor design software,
today announced that it has acquired certain assets and hired the
engineering team of LEDA Design, a developer of mixed-signal
intellectual property (IP). LEDA Design has a team of more than 80
experienced digital and mixed-signal IP design engineers and support
personnel located in Yerevan, Armenia who will join the Synopsys
DesignWare(R) IP engineering team. These talented engineers have a
track record of successfully developing and delivering IP and will
help Synopsys meet increasing customer demand for Synopsys’ portfolio
of DesignWare IP. The LEDA Design team has worked together for more
than four years developing, marketing and selling silicon-verified
analog, digital and mixed-signal IP, as well as digital core and IO
libraries. The terms of the transaction are not being disclosed.

DEPUTY FM RECEIVES GREAT BRITAIN-ARMENIA FRIENDSHIP GROUP MEMBERS
YEREVAN, OCTOBER 22, ARMENPRESS: Armenian deputy foreign minister
Tatul Margarian received members of Great Britain-Armenia friendship
group of the British parliament.
According to foreign ministry press services, during the
discussion the sides talked about the Armenian-British cooperation,
integration of Armenia into European structures and the possible role
of British parliamentarians in that.
The deputy minister introduced the British parliamentarians to the
Armenia’s position in regional and international developments and
steps taken by Armenia to settle the existing challenges.
Speaking on Nagorno Karabagh conflict resolution, T. Margarian
reaffirmed that Armenia stays committed to peaceful regulation of the
conflict. He expressed gratitude to the British parliamentarians,
particularly Baroness Caroline Cox in her endeavors to support
Karabagh people.

As was stated, being on an official visit in Ukraine, the Minister of
Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov on October 15 has met
chairman of the Supreme Rada of Ukraine Vladimir Litvin. Mr. Litvin
has noted relations between Ukraine and the Azerbaijan Republic
develop not only as partner, but also as friendly. He highly estimated
the connections developed between our parliaments. Chairman of the
Supreme Rada has warmly congratulated E. Mammadyarov on coming Day
of Independence of the Azerbaijan Republic.
In turn, Elmar Mammadyarov has informed the speaker on the course of
the official visit, having named meetings with the President of Ukraine
Leonid Kuchma, Prime Minister Victor Yanukovich and the head of the
foreign policy department Konstantin Grishchenko very successful and
fruitful. The relations between the Azerbaijan Republic and Ukraine
have great prospects, has emphasized E. Mammadyarov.
During the meeting, also exchanged were issues on political situation
in both countries.
The same day, head of the foreign policy department of Azerbaijan Elmar
Mammadyarov has visited Institute of the International Relations of
the Kiev National University after T. Shevchenko in which he in due
time studied diplomacy and the international relations. E. Mammadyarov
has delivered a lecture before students of Institute.
The Minister also has stopped on the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorny
Karabakh conflict, having emphasized importance of support by official
Kiev of the principle of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and

On September 21, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar
Mammadyarov has met with the special representative of the Great
Britain on Southern Caucasus Brian Fall, who is now visiting
Azerbaijan.
As was informed to AzerTAj from the press center of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, having noted development of relations between
Azerbaijan and the Great Britain, Mr. Brian Fall has especially
emphasized presence of favorable conditions for continuation and
henceforth cooperation between our countries. Having stated that rich
natural resources of Azerbaijan create for it favorable economic
opportunities, the visitor has noted importance of the even greater
attraction in our Republic of the English investors.
Highly having estimated cooperation between our countries, minister
Elmar Mammadyarov has agreed with ideas concerning expansion of
economic relations. The Minister spoke of the importance of attraction
of the English investors not only in oil sector, but also in non-oil
sector of Azerbaijan. Mr. Mammadyarov has expressed confidence that

Book describes media laws, press freedom violations in the Caucasus

A group of press freedom advocates has released a new book on media
legislation and journalists’ rights in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia,
the Yerevan Press Club reported.
“Harmonization of Media Legislation of South Caucasus Countries
with European Standards” includes reports, comparative analyses and
recommendations about media legislation in the region. It is available
in English and Russia.
The book also documents press freedom violations against journalists
between 2001 and 2003. The largest number of violations in each country
happened in 2003 – the year of elections in Armenia and Azerbaijan,
and “the rose revolution” in Georgia.
The book is the result of a regional project implemented by the
Committee to Protect Freedom of Expression of Armenia, the Baku
Press Club of Azerbaijan and the Association of Young Lawyers of
Georgia with support from the South Caucasus Cooperation Program of
the Eurasia Foundation.

Armenia announced. The decision of the Armenian Authorities to send
a 50-member group of soldiers to Iraq gave cause for this statement.
“DPA thinks that such a decision radically runs counter to our national
and state security interests, creates menace for our compatriots
residing in Islamic states, including peaceful existence of the
Armenian Commune of 25.000 in Iraq.
DPA condemns the intention of Armenian Authorities to send a military
group to Iraq and calls upon the members of Parliament to reject
approval of the bill through voting”, the statement says.

Moscow – More than 150 tons of humanitarian aid has arrived in the
southern Russian town of Beslan from around the world, civil defence
authorities in Moscow said on Friday, a week after the tragic end of
the school siege.
Medicine and medical equipment, clothing, food and even mobile
hospitals and emergency vehicles were received from donors inside
Russia, Italy, Germany, France, the United States, Norway, Finland
and other countries.
Greece and Armenia also sent more than 200 litres of blood as doctors
battle to save the lives of dozens of former hostages injured in the
three-day school siege.
Following the sacking of local government heads in North Ossetia and
the appointment of successors, the republic’s president Alexander
Dzasokhov said reconstruction work in the town would commence quickly.
“We are talking about two new schools, a modern hospital, a
rehabilitation centre and more infrastructure,” he said.
At least 335 hostages were killed and more than 700 injured when
gunmen blew up bombs in the school and opened fire on the hostages,
triggering a chaotic rescue operation by security forces. – Sapa-dpa

One-on-one meeting of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and President
of France Jacques Chirak was held on September 7 at the Yelysee Palace,
AzerTAj correspondent said.
In the meeting, passed in a sincere atmosphere, underlined was
the quick development of the Azerbaijan-France relations in the
political, economic and other fields. The bilateral relations are at
excellent level, President Jacques Chirak said. Mr. Jacques Chirak,
in particular, noted that Azerbaijan is the third country in the
foreign trade of France, characterizing it as high indication.
In the course of conversation, also focused were the issues of
Azerbaijan’s integration to the European Union, widely discussed
was aspiration of Azerbaijan to join new neighboring policy and its
prospects. The President of France expressed confidence for expansion
of Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the European Union and stressed
its necessity.
In the meeting, also were centered the regional problems, settlement
of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorny Karabakh problem. The French
President stated its adherence to continuation of peace negotiations
for solution of the conflict, also stating that France would implement
its mediation mission as the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair.
Heads of state had comprehensive exchange of views on the perspectives
of bilateral relations and other international questions.
After the meeting ended, President of France Jacques Chirak saw off
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in the front of the Yelysee
Palace.

LONDON, Sept 4 (Reuters) – Sargis Sargsian starred in another
late-night drama at the U.S. Open on Saturday when he rallied from
two sets down to overcome Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu and move into
the fourth round.
The Florida-based Armenian ground out a 4-6 4-6 6-4 6-2 7-6 in four
hours 41 minutes on a jam-packed Grandstand Court.
On Thursday, the 31-year-old stunned Olympic gold medallist Nicolas
Massu in another five-setter that lasted five hours 9 minutes, the
second longest match in U.S. Open history.
Sargsian, who now plays close friend Andre Agassi, has been on court
more than 12 hours to reach the last 16.
“I don’t know how I did it, I just kept fighting at the end,” said
Sargsian, who saved two match points at 6-5 down in the fifth set
before winning the tiebreak 7-4.
“I felt a bit stiff before the start but I felt better than I did
against Massu.”

Chipre y Armenia firman acuerdo de cooperacion en salud

Chipre y Armenia firmaron hoy un acuerdo de cooperacion en materia de
salud y medicina.
La ministra de Salud de Chipre, Constantia Akkelidou, quien firmo el
convenio, dijo a los reporteros despues de la ceremonia de firma que
este acuerdo proporcionara numerosas visitas de intercambio entre los
dos paises y otras formas de cooperacion.
Chipre ha cumplido su vieja promesa con Armenia al enviar medicinas y
equipos medicos al pais, dijo.
El embajador de Armenia en Chipre, Vahram Kazhoyan, quien represento
a su pais, dijo que hay una amplia experiencia de cooperacion en el
campo de ciencias medicas y cuidado de la salud entre los dos paises.
“Estoy contento de que finalmente seamos capaces de firmar el acuerdo
que pone esta cooperacion en un marco legal”, declaro.
Como un gesto positivo resultado de este acuerdo, Chipre enviara un
contenedor de medicinas a Armenia dentro de poco tiempo, anadio.
