YEREVAN, AUGUST 9, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is in Kyrgyzstan on a working visit, today attended the regular meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council (EAIC), which is being held at Ruha Orda Cultural Center after Aitmatov in Cholpon-Ata town of Kyrgyzstan, the PM’s office reported.

Prior to the meeting, the heads of government of EAEU-member states were received by President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Zenebekov.

Kyrgyzstan Prime Minister Muhammadkali Abilgaziyev met the heads of government of EAEU-member countries at Ruha Orda Cultural Center after Aytmatov.

After attending a protocol photo session, the EAEU Prime Ministers met in narrow and expanded formats. As the head of EAEU-chairing country, the Prime Minister of Armenia addressed the meeting with opening remarks:

“Dear participants,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

First of all, I wish to thank Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Mohammedkal Abilgaziyev for the warm welcome and hospitality, as well as for proper organization of today’s event.

At the narrow-format meeting, we exchanged views and made decisions over conceptual issues related to today’s agenda. Nevertheless, I would like to draw your attention to some aspects that are important for our countries.

As far as the alcohol market regulations are concerned, I consider it necessary to note that as a whole, the EAEU-member countries stand for the removal of barriers in this field. The alcohol market is a priority for Armenia as it offers wide export opportunities in the markets of the Eurasian Economic Union.

We consider it important to achieve a final decision on the distribution of import customs duties between the Member States’ budgets. This issue has been discussed in our organization for a long time and needs to be resolved as soon as possible.

We attach particular importance to the establishment of a common EAEU financial market, which will be facilitated and promoted by the entry into force in 2020 of the Agreement on Harmonization of EAEU-Member States’ Legislations in the Sphere of Financial Market.

Signing agreements to allow brokers and dealers in one Member State to trade on the stock exchanges of other Member States is also essential in this regard. In this matter, we consider it important to provide opportunities for the placement and circulation of securities at tenders held in the Member States and for exchange of information on credit records.

All member countries of our Union confirm their interest in agreeing on the concept of cross-border information interaction. The implementation of this document will have a positive impact on the implementation of business processes between public and private institutions of the Union countries.

We consider the signing of the Agreement On Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Waste Materials through the Customs Territory of the Eurasian Economic Union to be absolutely timely. The implementation of the provisions of this Agreement is consonant with the priorities of Armenia in the field of healthcare and environmental protection.

We attach great importance to ensuring that the subjects of our countries working in the agricultural sector have generalized information on the demand and supply of agricultural products in the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union. This sector of the Armenian economy has wide opportunities for expanding exports and is a priority for our government.

Dear friends,

Taking this opportunity, I wish to inform you that in early July this year I traveled to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Republic of Singapore on official visits. As a country chairing the EAEU, we paid special attention to cooperation between the EAEU and the aforementioned countries. We discussed the possibility of expanding trade and economic cooperation, and in particular, the signing of a free trade arrangement between the EAEU and Singapore.

Agreement was reached in principle to the effect that should the negotiation process be completed in a timely manner and the draft agreed, the Prime Minister of Singapore might attend the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting in Yerevan, at which a relevant agreement would be signed. On this issue, I obtained the consent of the leaders of all the countries concerned.

Taking this opportunity, I want to turn to the EAEU-Member States and to the Board of Management with a request to expedite as quickly as possible all necessary procedures related to the approval of the draft agreement for its successful signing on October 1 in Yerevan. I am hereby asking you to take this issue under your personal control.

In line with the agreements reached the heads of EAEU-Member States, I have invited the President of Iran to participate in the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council’s Yerevan meeting.

Also, I would like to inform you that on September 30 – October 1, an international forum will be held in Yerevan on the margins of the upcoming meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, referred to as “Transit Potential in the Eurasian Continent.”

In this regard, I am asking you to ensure the widest possible participation of representatives of public and private institutions of your countries at this important event. The heads of all EAEU-Member States and partner countries are invited to attend the forum.

The forum is expected to discuss topical issues of developing transport and logistics networks throughout the continent, prospects for developing new and completing the ongoing large-scale infrastructure projects, as well as issues related to the development of digital corridors in the Eurasian region. Thank you.”

The Heads of Government of EAEU Member States discussed issues on the distribution of import customs duties between the budgets of the EAEU Member States, the development of the EAEU common financial market, the creation of a common alcohol market within the EAEU, the establishment of cross-border companies, cross-border information interaction, cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation and technology transfer, the signing of a draft agreement on cross-border movement of hazardous waste materials through the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as on the development of the agricultural sector in the EAEC.
Following the meeting, a number of documents were signed, including the decree on import customs duties distribution standards between the budgets of Member States, the timetable for forming a common financial market in the EAEU, as well as decisions and orders aimed at deepening cooperation between the EAEU-member countries in the aforementioned areas.

The concept of common financial market is expected for signing on October 1 at the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Yerevan. It was decided to hold the next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on October 25, 2019 in Moscow.

In conclusion, the EAEU heads of government attended the first-day-of-issue dedication ceremony for stamps to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union and the 25th anniversary of the Eurasian integration idea.

Asbarez: ‘Armath’ TechnoCamp in Dilijan Brings Together 400 Children

“Armath” TechnoCamp 2019 winners, team 6, display their gifts and certificates

DILIJAN, Armenia—More than 400 schoolchildren from different provinces of Armenia participated in “Armath” summer TechnoCamp. The program, which was hosted by Monte Melkonian Military College in Dilijan, was available in two sessions—the first for children from 10 to 13 years of age, and the second for children aged 14 to 17. Participants came from various provinces in Armenia, as well as Artsakh and Javakh, as well as from the Diaspora through the “Ari Tun” program. The first session of the program ran from July 1 to 19.

The second session of the camp took place from July 10 to 19, where more than 200 schoolchildren and 13 team leaders from various provinces were in participation.

During the second session of “Armath” TechnoCamp, participants had the opportunity to learn about and create a smart management system of LED lights. In order to create these lights, participants were taught how to use the RaspberryPi platform and Python programming. They were also taught how to assemble and program robots. The main goal for each team was to design a robot to meet the standards of Robotex Armenia—an international robotics contest—as well as to be able to find solutions to problems through robotics.

In addition to robotics, the second session presented participants with cultural, sports, and entertainment features. Project manager of “Shtigen Kids,” Ani Aghajanyan visited “Armath” TechnoCamp and gave a presentation on renewable energy.

A robotics competition took place at the end of the second session, during which participants were given specific standards to meet. These rules included: the robot must follow road markings, the robot must take and place a trash bin using its hand, the robot must park itself at the marked locations, and the robot must cross the crossroad—equipped with traffic lights—when the light turns green. The rules called for these problems to be solved only through automatic management. Participants could not interfere with their robots during the final competition. To meet these standards, participants used Arduino and SeRob computing platforms, and C++ and Snap programming languages.

“We have children here who have attended ‘Armath’ engineering laboratory for only a month and are already able to solve complex problems usually assigned to university students. We could only dream of creating and programming robots with our own hands at their age. Now, with the support of Ucom, both girls and boys have the chance to acquire engineering knowledge and creative skills,” noted Tigran Safaryan, Marketing and Communications Director at Ucom.

This year, the team that won consisted of students from various “Armath” Engineering Laboratory locations: Ashnak, Arteni, Ranchpar and Aragats. The winning team—team 6 of the 13—scored the most points during the final robotics competition, meeting almost all the standards set by the judges. As a result of their victory, participants of team 6 were given smart watches from Ucom. The most valuable team member, Hayk Sargsyan, was given an electric scooter, and a tablet was given to the team leader, Slavik Israyelyan.

Team 13 came in second at “Armath” TechnoCamp, with a score not far behind the winning teams. Participants of team 13 were students of “Armath” in Noratus and Gavar. The most valued member of the team, Vahe Davtyan, was given a smart watch from Ucom. The remaining members of the team received 16 GB memory sticks from the UATE. Team 13 solved the robotics problem using Arduino (C++) computing platform. Their robot was the most efficient at crossing the crossroads during the final competition.

In participation were schoolchildren from: Yerevan, Armavir, Ranchpar, Norakert, Damala, Karvachar, Arteni, Agarak (Syunik), Agarak (Aragatsotn), Mastara, Ashnak, Agarakavan, Kaqavadzor, Dilijan, Sotk, Tchambarak, Gavar, Noratus, Akunk, Gyumri, Saratak, Haykavan(Shirak), Vahramaberd, Hadrut, Kajaran, Kovsakan, Askeran, Martakert, Sos, Lorut, Arevatsag, Mets Ayrum, Vanadzor, Aygepar, Choratan, Ijevan, Artashat, Hartavan, Lusagyugh, Berdzor, Martuni (Artsakh), Ishkhanadzor, Vardenis, Drakhtik, Vahan, Katnaghbyur, Aparan, Berdavan, Nerkin Tsaghkavan, Lusagyugh, Hartavan, Heshtia (Javakhk) and Tumanyan.

2019 Sponsors of “Armath” TechnoCamp include: the Children of Armenia Fund, Support to Javakhk Foundation, Instigate Mobile, Cronimet Mining, Ucom, “Sahman” (Border) NGO, Artsakhbank, World Vision Armenia, Armenian Educational Foundation, “Vardanants Knights” organization, and Nazaryan Educational Foundation.

VivaCell-MTS supports another family in Armenian village

Panorama, Armenia
July 9 2019

The Minasyans are the 8th family in Armenia’s Syunik Province supported by VivaCell-MTS and the Fuller Center for Housing Armenia. These days, construction is underway in Akhlatyan village. The principle of volunteering is becoming a tradition even without partners’ intervention. This is one of the important achievements of the housing program, VivaCell-MTS said in a press release.

24-year-old Hrachya from Syunik has overcome serious problems… Having lost his mother years ago, his family has also fought for the life of one of Hrachya’s brothers. Consistent and long efforts helped save the life of the youngest of the family. The boys, who have become even stronger with every challenge of life, have made sure their mother’s dream came true. Both have already graduated from the university and work at the Akhlatyan village school. The youngest brother is going to become a student. Now they are trying to open a new page in their life. Three sons stand side by side and support their father: they have started building a house which remained unfinished for 28 years.

The works inside the semi-constructed house have united everyone. From time to time, the neighbors, relatives, and friends come to volunteer and help the homeowners. Hrachya, who has volunteering experience and knows the value of it, appreciates the volunteer support. The work moves forward with much enthusiasm and jokes. Now they want that happiness always be inside the new house.

“I have many dreams but the most important one is to see my father safe. For many years he has not been able to build a house. After my mother’s death and after having overcome my younger brother’s serious health problems we managed to start the construction that my father always wanted to do but wasn’t able to finish. I want him to live a quiet life in the house that we are building after years of suffering,” said the elder son, 24-year-old Hrachya.

Due to a heavy workload, the heads of VivaCell-MTS and the Fuller Center for Housing Armenia are not always able to join construction works. However, the life of the families and the construction process are in the center of their attention. Sometimes, before they will meet, the physical absence is filled with a message.

“Hrach, I’m aware of the difficulties your family has gone through. I send you, your brothers and your father this message from my workplace. I realize how strong you are and what kind of willingness you demonstrated to overcome misfortunes. Fight for your dreams. You deserve to be respected. Be optimistic and be sure that you’ll see happy days inside the newly built house,” said VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.

YEREVAN, JUNE 28, ARMENPRESS. The Special Investigation Service of Armenia has discovered cases of selling lands to relatives or friends of former Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan by making false documents by community heads and auction commissions. A total of 15 pieces of land have been sold in this way in Dilijan, Mkhchan and Narek communities with a territory of over 170 hectares for different types of use.

The Special Investigation Service of Armenia has made a decision on not persecuting Hovik Abrahamyan, given the fact that he has agreed to return the lands to the communities.

Asbarez: ARF Bureau Chairman Hagop Der Khatchadourian Visits Aleppo

ARF Celebrates 101st Anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia

The Armenian Youth Federation of Syria organized a celebration dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia in Aleppo on June 1 at “Yesayan” hall. The main speaker of the event, Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau Chairman Hagop Der Khatchadourian, travelled from Armenia to Aleppo to participate in the event.

In his keynote address , Der Khatchadourian spoke about the symbols of independence and the current political developments, saying “May 28th: the most important page in our recent history was written in blood and sweat. Our statehood was reborn from this chaos; Armenia once again became a part of the global [Armenian] family and has become a country that has been strongly entrenched in progress and social justice, even during the harshest times.”

Der Khatchadourian explained that it was almost thirty years ago that we [the ARF] delivered the symbols of our statehood and independence that was preserved in the Diaspora during the years of exile [under the Soviet Union]: the tricolor, the National Anthem, coat of arms, and national identity, to the newly free and independent Armenia. Unfortunately, this joy [at having an independent country] was mixed with frustration when the first president of the Republic of Armenia destroyed the belief of pan-Armenian solidarity and began to create divisions within the people of Armenia and the Diaspora.

“We see this happening again today, with the divisive characterization of ‘black and white,’ with the occasional poisonous and hatful acts that have spilled into public domain, instead of the promise of ‘love and tolerance.’ For example, the actions against long-time ARF Bureau chairman Hrant Markarian, his son and grandchildren, which should have been condemned by the highest of government officials remains unanswered – with no statements made by any high-ranking officials or governmental members,” said Der Khachadourian.

In conclusion, Der Khatchadourian called on our people to unite, stressing the fact that “we should not take for granted the value of our nation—this opportunity to have an independent Armenia and Artsakh. We should be ready to develop Armenia and Artsakh without any compromises. Together, with our homeland, and through the fair distribution of roles, by helping one another, we will be able to strengthen our statehood, strengthen Artsakh, Javakhk and the Diaspora in order to see our national aspirations come true.”
On the morning of June, the ARF Bureau chairman, attended the Divine Liturgy held at the Forty Martyrs Cathedral. Following church services, Der Khatchadourian met with representatives of community and affiliate organizations.

“First, I would like to congratulate this magnificent community for being one of the Diaspora’s radiating communities—the place [Syria] where the survivors of the Armenian Genocide began creating the Diaspora with their hard-work. The people who turned their mourning for the Genocide into a struggle, then established it as a cultural hub and helped create other regions and flourished. Although, the recent emigration from Aleppo due to the civil war has had its negative effects, but it has helped contribute to the revitalization of other Diasporan cities, especially in Canada, Sweden, Australia and elsewhere,” said Der-Khachadourian who also reflected on his life in Aleppo and shared fond memories from his childhood.

Der Khatchadourian, and his delegation visited the Armenian evangelical community in Syria, whose leader welcomed the ARF Bureau chairman and stated that the his presence in Aleppo was not only a joyous moment for the Armenian evangelical community and its affiliate associations and institutions, but to all Syrian Armenians.

“The Armenian Evangelical Community of Syria, with your investment and followers, is an advocate of our national values, and has its own place in our national life,” said Der-Khachadourian who commended the Evangelical leaders for their coordinated and unified efforts.

In the evening, Der Khachadourian attended a concert of spiritual music, organized by the Aleppo Prelacyt at the Forty Martyrs Cathedral, which was dedicated to the first lady of Syria.

On the same day, Der Khachatourian and his delegation were welcomed by the Armenian Catholic community and representatives of the Holy Trinity church.

On the morning of Monday, June, Der Khatchadourian, accompanied by representatives of Aleppo’s community and affiliate organizations, visited Nor Kyugh. The visit began at St. Gregory the Illuminator church, after which the delegation visited a social service center, as well as the editorial offices of the Gandzasar newspaper and Arevelk printing house.

Der Khatchadourian also visited the local Armenian Relief Society and Hamazkayin “Zavarian” Cultural centers. A trip to Aleppo would not have been complete without a visit to the Karen Jeppe Djemaran [Academy], where Hagop Der Khatchadourian in the presence of local officials, Karen Jeppe administration, religious leaders and ARF members, officially unveiled the bust in memory of Raffi Bchachkjian, an ARF member who was the leader of the self-defense efforts of the Armenian neighborhoods in Aleppo.

“Unger Raffi’s heroic deeds have not remained within the borders of Syria, but have reached all Armenians. Unger Raffi with his spirit and dedication to the ARF will inspire future generations. On this occasion [of the unveiling of the bust], I want to convey well-wishes from the entire ARF family, from Armenia to the Diaspora,” said Der Khachadourian.

“Dear Unger Raffi, let your memory continue to be an inspiration. With your actions, you have added to the vast pantheon of the ARF heroes of our past. Not only are we proud of you, as you are a continuation of our heroic history, but as a guarantee for our prosperous future,” added Der Khachadourian.

On Tuesday, June 4, Der Khatchadourian met with the leaders of the Syrian-Armenian Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Center. During the meeting, which lasted almost an hour, Der Khatchadourian commended the work of the executive committee, which over the last 7 years, organized and preserved the community. Der Khatchadourian expressed his appreciation of this historic, noble mission, especially in the spheres of humanitarian and educational work.

He stressed that rebuilding the Syrian-Armenian institutions and the community must continue with the same spirit and vigor, while utilizing new methods of cooperation. He expressed that these practical acts that the executive committee has undertaken demonstrates support to the Syrian government and the president.

Bishop Daniel Findikyan’s "Antranig" Badarak in America

BISHOP DANIEL FINDIKYAN’S “ANTRANIG” BADARAK IN AMERICA

Armenian News Network / Armenian News

June 2, 2019

BY FLORENCE AVAKIAN

St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral, NY—On Saturday morning, May 18, the Primate of the Eastern American Diocese, Bishop Daniel Findikyan, celebrated his first Episcopal Badarak in America before more than a thousand worshippers who filled every crevice of New York’s St. Vartan Cathedral.

The tremendous excitement and enthusiasm was palpable as people from all over the United States filed into the Cathedral on a Saturday morning at 10 A.M. to see their beloved Primate celebrate his Antranig holy Badarak.

Bishop Daniel is the first American born Primate, now elevated to Bishop, in the history of the 121-year old American Diocese.

It took quite a while for the excitement shared by so many in attendance to quiet down for the special service.

To the majestic strains of the “Hrashapar” hymn, Bishop Daniel led a large group of priests and deacons into the crowded St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral.

His immediate family, including his father Nurhan, his brother Stephan, and sister Tamara, with their families were visibly emotional, as they partook of the powerful and moving service.

Among the many dignitaries present were Armenia’s Ambassador to the United States Varuzhan Nersesyan, Armenia’s Ambassador to the United Nations Mher Margaryan, and several leaders of Armenian-American organizations, including the AGBU, AMAA, AAHPO, and FAR.

Bishop Daniel had just returned from Etchmiadzin where the Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II had elevated him and two Armenian Primates from Europe to the holy rank of Bishop, as more than 100 American Armenians who had made their travel arrangements several months ago, witnessed one of the most important ecclesiastical services in Etchmiadzin .

LOVED AND ADMIRED

For all who know him or have met him, Bishop Daniel is a priest deeply admired and loved for his dedication, humility, honesty and compassion.

The holy Badarak at St. Vartan Cathedral, on May 18, attended by dozens of priests – Armenian as well as representatives from sister churches – was a unique inspiration to hear and witness, as the angelic voices of choirs from local Armenian parishes joined the Cathedral choir conducted by Director Khoren Mekhanejian. Florence Avakian accompanied on the organ.

In his inspiring and powerful sermon delivered passionately in both Armenian and English, with all the faithful listening intently, Bishop Daniel described how before the outdoor altar in Etchmiadzin, “three of us vartabeds walked on our knees, and knelt as Christ had done 1700 years ago.”

CHIEF PASTOR

“We were referred to as ‘hovvabed’ – chief pastor. It’s an audacious and terrifying claim,” he stated quietly. “Jesus was referred to as ‘THE CHIEF SHEPHERD, the GOOD SHEPHERD, called to lead His flock. The good shepherd cares for his sheep because he has a personal interest in them.   The sheep are more precious than his own life, because he loves them.”

Elected to the “awesome” position as Primate a year ago, he continued, “my vocation includes loving my flock to the extent of laying down my own life to raise you up and lead you to green pastures. You are under my care,” he declared emotionally.

“You have also been called to be like the Good Shepherd.   Our call of love for you and me is to lift up one another, and love one another.   Let us revive that call that apostles Thaddeus and Bartholomew brought to us, the call that could not extinguish the souls of one and a half million martyrs.”

“Come and join me in this new chapter in the life of our Diocese,” he declared, his voice cracking with passion.

HOLY JOURNEY

This holy journey had begun in Etchmiadzin on May 11 before an outside altar, sInce Etchmiadzin Cathedral is under massive renovation. The three vartabeds, the Very Rev. Frs. Daniel Findikyan, Primate of the Eastern U.S. Diocese, Serope Isakhanian, Primate of Germany, and Tiran Petrosian, Primate of Austria had approached the tufa stone altar flanked by the symbolic white and purple flowers, walking slowly on their knees.

Witnessing this spiritual and most humble action in Echmiadzin was spiritually and mysteriously beautiful for this writer.

The three priests were accompanied by dozens of Armenian and sister church clergy, including the Patriarch of the Syriac Orthodox Church, and clerical dignitaries from the Vatican, Syrian, Ukrainian, American, German and Austrian churches.

“It was a once in a lifetime moment for me,” related Bishop Daniel. His facial _expression_ reflected the intense emotions he was feeling, as he slowly knelt before the Etchmiadzin altar with his eyes closed in prayer.

Throughout the May 11 initial liturgy, as well as during the Pontifical Badarak on May 12, celebrated by the Vehapar when the second phase of the elevation sacraments continued, Bishop Daniel often had his eyes closed, his face reflecting his love, and the responsibility he was feeling for his future calling.

May 12, Mother’s Day, was also a very special day for him. Six months ago, he had lost his much-loved mother, Ursula. His intense feelings were visibly obvious, as he often looked towards heaven, with moistened eyes.

Armenian-Americans were in great anticipation on Monday May 13, as Bishop Daniel celebrated his first historic Episcopal Badarak in the beautiful and intimate setting of the 1500-year old St. Gayane Church in Etchmiadzin.

Totally focused and garbed in the robes, mitre, medallions and the insignia of Bishop, he movingly celebrated his first Episcopal Badarak before an enthralled group. A group of priests and deacons from the Eastern Diocese spiritually sang the holy hymns.

His sermon again reflected the profound belief of his vocation. “Our responsibility is to confirm our calling – the new identity every hour, every moment, with every breath in our church so we can walk with our Lord into the kingdom of heaven. “

A brilliant homilist who always speaks from the heart without any notes, Bishop Daniel delivered his message to worshippers who are often led to tears.  His face often reflects the depth of his spiritual responsibility.

At the reception held in Kavookjian Auditorium following Srpazan’s Antranig Badarak at St. Vartan Cathedral, there were many emotionally overwhelmed attendees who wanted to express their feelings.

Among them were Srpazan’s 14 year old nephew James, and and 12 year old twin nieces Julia and Kira who gushed, “We are so terribly proud of our uncle whom we love so much. “

Deacon of the Indian Syriac Church Kuriakos said that “the legacy of Bishop Daniel is about giving love. He will multiply that love everywhere.”

Bishop Daniel’s clerical godfather, the Rev. Fr. Karekin Kasparian who has taught hundreds of seminarians over more than 50 years at St. Nersess Armenian Seminary, tearfully and quietly voiced, “I am very much moved. Thank God that my very favorite seminarian became a Bishop, and gave me the honor to represent our clergy for him.”

And Srpazan’s lay godfather Dr. Garo Garibian who was the generous donor of the reception, called the Bishop, “the perfect choice. Srpazan never sought this position. He was chosen by a higher being.”
