    By Nigar Guliyeva – Trend:

Denmark’s Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen encouraged Azerbaijan and Armenia to follow their commitments before the Council of Europe on peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Denmark, as the chair country of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, supports the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group on the conflict resolution, said Samuelsen at the winter session of PACE on Jan.23, when answering the questions of Azerbaijani MPs Rafael Huseynov and Ganira Pashayeva.

“Mediation for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the responsibility of the OSCE Minsk Group. This was repeatedly underlined by the Committee of Ministers,” he said. “It is central that Armenia and Azerbaijan abide by their commitments to the Council of Europe to settle the conflict by peaceful means. The Council of Europe can help establish conditions conductive to a peace agreement by encouraging confidence building measures.”

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.

Ever since the restoration of relative calm, Syrian Armenians have started returning to their homes, according to Jirair Reisian, an Armenian member of the Syrian parliament, who spoke to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He noted that these Armenians have started returning from Lebanon, Armenia, and some Western countries, and that the internally displaced persons also have started coming back to their homes.

But Reisian noted that, first, it is necessary to restore the ruined and the damaged, as well as the huge economic losses to the Syrian Armenian community. He added, however, that Syrian Armenians are able to survive and they have an unbending determination to continue their lives.

The Syrian Armenian MP noted that the Armenian community suffered major material losses during the civil war, plus it had casualties, severely injured, and dozens of missing.

But Jirair Reisian added that some buildings, houses, and shops belonging to Armenians are being restored. He said the damaged structures have been studied, the repair plans for the most of them are developed, and these works will be carried out considering the priorities.

Sports: Henrikh Mkhitaryan agent breaks silence over Manchester United Alexis Sanchez deal

Henrikh Mkhitaryan agent breaks silence over Manchester United Alexis
    Sanchez deal
Manchester United have been pursuing the Arsenal forward and the
Armenian could be part of the deal.
    By Anthony Jepson
Henrikh Mkhitaryan's agent Mino Raiola says his client holds the key
    toManchester United's pursuit ofAlexis Sanchez.
But he saysMkhitaryanwill not be railroaded into a move away from Old
Trafford - and insists the Armenian is not part of the Sanchez but
deal it is the other way round.
United are favourites to sign the Arsenal forward afterCity pulled out
    of the racefor the Chilean.
The Reds are willing to meet the £35 million asking price for the
29-year-old, but have offered Mkhitaryan as part of the deal.
Raiola toldThe Times: "Manchester United is not going to sign Sanchez
unless Mkhi agrees to join Arsenal.
"Mkhi has not decided yet. Mkhi is going to do what is best for him.
He has two-and-a-half years left on his contract, so it's his
    decision.
"Sanchez is part of the Mkhi deal, not the other way around."
United manager Jose Mourinho has admittedhe is open to moving the
underperforming Mkhitaryan on, saying: "Is it possible he
[Mkhitaryan]s going to be involved in the deal?
"It's possible. It's also possible he stays. I didn't select him
(against Stoke) because I wanted players fully focused and I
understand that with so much talk and so much speculation it is not
easy for Mkhitaryan to play at home with this feeling, can happen,
    maybe doesn't happen.
"My approach to players is that every player has a price.
United showed Alexis Sanchez more commitment than City - it's simple
"So when the transfer window is open is also open for any club that is
interested in our players, then it's up to us to make the decision yes
or no, it's up to us to decide what we think is the right price."
Of United's pursuit of Sanchez, Mourinho said on Monday night
following the win over Stoke: "Not confident but also not, what is the
    opposite? Unconfident. Just relaxed.
"We have a feeling that he is an Arsenal player, we have a feeling
that he can stay there, but also a feeling he can move and if he moves
I think we have a chance but most probably a player like him has other
big clubs interested and who knows."

Republic of Armenia is a social state – MP of Yelk

In his speech, MP of Yelk (Way out) faction Gevorg Gorgisyan reminded that according to the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, our country is a social state.

“This means that the state, the government, the ruling group must take care of the social problems of the RA citizens. And what have we got today? By the end of 2017, we had up to 40% price growth for essential goods, and even if we believe in official sources, according to which, this growth was due to international price increases, we have a situation that we start operating with the European Economic Union (EEU) agreement in 2018, and which leads to inflation of 900 products.”
