TURKISH EXPERT: TURKISH PRESIDENT AND US STATE SECRETARY WILL HARDLY DISCUSS ARMENIAN-TURKISH RELATIONS

arminfo
Monday, June 4, 19:00

The Turkish President and the US State Secretary will hardly discuss
Armenian-Turkish relations. Turkey has much more urgent problems
to discuss with the United States, particularly, Iran, Syria and
Israel, Director of Global Political Trends Center (GPOT, Turkey)
Mensur Akgun said during a conference in Yerevan.

Akgun said that some US politicians say that they are not going to
spoil their relations with Azerbaijan for the sake of Armenian-Turkish
relations. So, if the Americans do not need these relations, the
Turkish has even more reasons not to need them – one of them being
the interest of their brothers in Azerbaijan.

Akgun said that unless pressured by the world community, Turkey will
not improve its relations with Armenia. But he noted that in the
next decade Turkey will become one of the most influential nations
in the world. It is already regarded as the most influential in the
Arab world.

U.S. HELMER TO DIRECT FILM ON TURKISH INTERFERENCE IN “40 DAYS OF MUSA DAGH” PRODUCTION

PanARMENIAN.Net
June 4, 2012 – 20:07 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – American director Edwin Avaness is set to launch a
documentary film project about the interference of Turkish state in
the United States to impede the production of the film, based on the
book by Franz Werfel, The 40 Days of Musa Dagh, independent French
journalist Jean Eckian told PanARMENIAN.Net

In 2006, actor Sylvester Stallone had expressed a desire to direct
a film based on the novel. But following a campaign by the powerful
Turkish association ASIMED, Stallone had to give up, as did Mel Gibson
in 2009. In France, Henri Verneuil himself had tried to edit the film.

For this exceptional project of universal historic significance, the
designer and director Edwin Avaness needs the financial support of the
community to complete the project which is the first demonstration
of the Turkish state denial. The names of generous donors will be
credited to the screen. The funds will be collected by the association,
nonprofit, Friends of Armenian Cultural Treasures.

International Community Is To Be Blamed For Azerbaijani Diversions –

INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY IS TO BE BLAMED FOR AZERBAIJANI DIVERSIONS – ARMENIAN MILITARY ANALYST

NEWS.AM
June 04, 2012 | 14:31

YEREVAN. – When high-ranking guests visit the region, Azerbaijan
conducts some operations just to provoke, military analyst Hrachya
Petrosyants told Armenian News-NEWS.am, commenting on the recent
such operation, which claimed the lives of three Armenian soldiers
and wounded six others.

“Azerbaijan expects for Armenia to respond to this provocation, and
for us to retaliate equally or more fiercely, and they will use this
in their favor,” he said.

Petrosyants also stressed that the provocations are now against the
Republic of Armenia.

“And Armenia is a subject of the international law. In the case when
Artsakh [Nagorno-Karabakh] is an unrecognized state, Armenia is a
recognized state, and now Azerbaijan conducts diversion operations
against a recognized state,” stated Petrosyants.

“If we launch an operation against them now, they will raise uproar
at the highest level. And in the case when the international community
issues an unclear statement concerning their [i.e., the Azerbaijanis’]
operations, it will raise great uproar in the case of the Armenian
side’s operations,” the analyst noted, and added that the number-one
culpable party in this situation is the international community, which
“is unable-or, more correctly, is unwilling-to take strong measures
against Azerbaijan.

“We face a dilemma today. We must either be patient or become the
victim of provocation. We need to take into to account that if a war
starts, there will be hundreds [and] thousands of victims, and the
consequences [will be] very severe,” noted Hrachya Petrosyants.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the MOD issued a statement
and noted that on Monday and according to preliminary data, the
Azerbaijani side yet again violated the ceasefire at the line of
contact between the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, and this time in
the northeastern sector. It attempted to infiltrate to the Armenian
military bases stationed in the direction of Berdavan and Chinari
villages of the Tavush Region.

As a result of the taken measures and the Armenian military
servicemen’s courageous operations, however, the diversion advancement
was stopped, and the adversary was driven back, giving casualties.

But because of the Azerbaijani operation, Armenian military servicemen
Hrach Sargsyan, Zohrab Balabekyan, and Karen Davtyan were killed.

There are six wounded.

An investigation is launched.

To note, US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton is commencing her tour
to the region on Monday.

several key issues.

“It is planned to hold assemblies and exhibitions. Under the
arrangement, the Armenian and Czech chambers of commerce should have
committees for those businessmen who have difficulty in organizing and
developing their business in the Czech Republic,” he said, adding that
the turnover between the two countries is increasing by every year.

Armenia’s exports to the Czech Republic have grown significantly to
