Oskanian: Armenia Was Wrong In Agreeing To Maximum Concessions In Ka

OSKANIAN: ARMENIA WAS WRONG IN AGREEING TO MAXIMUM CONCESSIONS IN KARABAKH TALKS

June 28, 2012 – 18:46 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – Ex-Foreign Minister, Prosperous Armenia party member
Vartan Oskanian slammed the official Yerevan’s policy line in Karabakh
conflict negotiations.

“I believe, Armenia committed a mistake for prematurely agreeing to
maximum of concessions without making sure Azerbaijan will respond
in kind. The official Yerevan made a similar mistake during a
rapprochement attempt with Turkey, with talks currently in a
stalemate,” the politician said on his Facebook page.

As he noted, during her visit to Yerevan, U.S. State Secretary Hillary
Clinton tried to get Armenia to agree to a couple of Azeri proposals.

“However, Secretary Clinton failed, as Armenia had nothing to add to
stipulations adopted during a meeting in Kazan.”

“Though Karabakh settlement mediators are accusing every conflicting
party, clearly, it’s Azerbaijan who’s hindering the negotiations’
progress with its radical demands, military rhetoric and border
attacks,” Oskanian said.

Deathly Decisions: Suicide Cases Dominate Police Reports This Week

DEATHLY DECISIONS: SUICIDE CASES DOMINATE POLICE REPORTS THIS WEEK
By Suren Musayelyan

ArmeniaNow
27.06.12 | 11:11

At least six suicides have been committed in Armenia by mostly
middle-aged citizens since the beginning of this week in what appear
to be unrelated circumstances but an alarming pattern.

One of the most shocking of these incidents was reported in Yerevan’s
Erebuni district where a man and his son were found hanged in their
apartment on Tuesday morning.

Police identified the victims of what they said was a double suicide as
62-year-old Petros Galustov and his 30-year-old son Artash Galstyan. A
cross and an image of Jesus Christ were found near the dead men and the
father also reportedly had a suicide note, the content of which has
not been disclosed yet. According to media reports, Artash Galstyan
had been released from the Nubarashen prison just days before the
incident. In November 2011 together with another person he broke
into a car belonging to a large company and stole 56 million drams
(about $135,000).

In an unrelated case 74-year-old resident of the town of Masis,
Volodya Sahakyan, allegedly stabbed his daughter-in-law Kristine
Zakaryan to death before killing himself with a knife. Early police
reports said Sahakyan suspected his daughter-in-law, a mother of four
and a widow for several years, of having an affair.

Another suicide was reported in Gyumri where a 52-year-old man
mentioned in police reports as Avetik B. committed suicide by hanging
himself apparently over distressing social conditions.

Another two residents of the provinces in their fifties reportedly
committed suicides in the past several days.

Police said on Sunday 56-year-old resident of Armenia’s Gegharkunik
province Martin Hakobyan shot himself in the chest with a hunting
rifle. The man was said to be suffering from paranoia.

The dead body of another elderly man not identified by name in a
police report but said to be a 59-year-old resident of the town of
Masis, was found dead on Monday evening near Lake Sevan.

According to the police report, the man had rented a lakeside cottage
and came to the town of Sevan on June 23, but no one had ever seen
him since that day.

Citing its own sources News.am reported that the man, who was a
merchant at the Masis market, had hanged himself because of having
incurred huge debts.

PanARMENIAN.Net – The declaration of the 20th Anniversary Summit of
the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) was

remove all of its amendments from the text of the document.

As a diplomatic source told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, Turkey’s
high-ranking officials, under the pressure of the European Union,
succeeded in persuading Baku to withdraw its politically motivated
provisions, as the Armenian delegation would never sign the document
detrimental to Yerevan.

The amendments were removed one by one, while the Turkish officials
were negotiating with both the Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations,
