Georgian Fm On Abkhazian Railway

GEORGIAN FM ON ABKHAZIAN RAILWAY

Politics – Thursday, 31 January 2013, 13:04

Prime Time held an interview with the Georgian foreign minister
Maia Panjikidzeh. The reporter asked her to comment on the
Georgian PM Ivanishvili’s statement on the possible opening of
Russia-Georgia-Armenia railway for which the Georgian prime minister
has underwent strong criticism. She noted that the railway is a
complex issue which needs a close study. Most importantly, she
noted, the railway cannot be operated in prejudice of Georgia and
its friends. The economic and political feasibility of the railway
must be studied first, how it will contribute to the improvement of
relations between Georgia and Russia and stability in the region. She
concluded that the interests of Georgia are primary to the decision
on opening the railway.

Public Defense Of A Thesis At The Inss, Mod Took Place

PUBLIC DEFENSE OF A THESIS AT THE INSS, MOD TOOK PLACE

On January 30, 2013, the Session of the Higher Certification
Commission’s Doctoral Degrees Conferral Chamber 056 “Political
science and international relations” at Drastamat Kanayan Institute
for National Strategic Studies, MOD, Armenia took place, in the
agenda of which the public defense of the thesis “Dynamics of the
Nagorno Karabakh conflict (1988-1994)” under the specialization
23.00.04 “International Relations” on earning a PhD in History of the
Associate Professor at Tomsk Polytechnic University’s Yurga Technology
Institute’s (Branch) Chair of Foreign Languages and Humanities,
formerly the 366th Motorized Rifle Regiment’s officer at the Soviet
Army stationed in Stepanakert – Vladimir Ponomarev. Press service of
Armenian Ministry of Defense informs about this.

The academic supervisor of the thesis is the Corresponding member of
the National Academy of Sciences, Research fellow at the Institute
for National Strategic Studies, President of the Armenian-Atlantic
Association, Honorary Scholar of Armenia, Doctor of History, Professor
Nikolay Hovhannisyan.

The structure of the thesis covers the grounds and historical
conditions of the ethnic-political conflict in Nagorno Karabakh, the
development of the conflict under the crisis of the Soviet statehood
and the proclamation of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), the
aggression of Azerbaijan and NKR’s victory.

Having witnessed the origin of the problem, the author – with
impartiality typical to the academician and founded source basis
relevant to academic requirements – studied this critical period for
Artsakh (Karabakh) people. He defended his position objectively and
justly denying the distortions of the conflict’s dynamics circulated
by the Azerbaijani academic and propaganda circles, particularly
regarding the Khojali events. The research is also valuable because
of the fact that the author paid much attention to the historical and
political processes underlying the legitimate creation and development
of the Artsakh statehood, especially to the holding of a nationwide
referendum on self-determination as a legal basis for the establishment
of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Dentists Refuse To Pay Taxes

DENTISTS REFUSE TO PAY TAXES

Story from Lragir.am News:

17:55 31/01/2013

Dentists rallied today in front of the government. Today is the
deadline of payment of taxes, and starting from tomorrow they will
incur fines.

The dentists protest against recent amendments to the law on license
fees which have boosted taxes. Tax is calculated at 60-100,000 drams
per one chair per month up to three dental chairs, and 48,000 drams
per chair if the number of chairs exceeds four. They also pay the
monthly income tax per employee.

The minister of health Derenik Dumanyan has passed the proposals of
dentists to the prime minister. Dentists hope that the law will be
modified. However, the prime minister has not answered yet.

Dentists refuse to pay high taxes. If they impose fines, we will
emigrate, they say.

By the way, the minister of health Derenik Dumanyan avoided the
demonstrators today and left the house of government through the
backdoor though usually he leaves through the front door.
