SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 TO BE PRESENTED IN ARMENIA ON THURSDAY

YEREVAN, April 2. /ARKA/. Samsung Galaxy S4 will be officially
presented in Yerevan, Armenia, on Thursday, Publicis Hepta Armenia
advertising agency reported to ARKA on Tuesday.

“Visitors of the press conference, to be held in Samsung store, will
have a chance to play Facebook game, and the winner will get Samsung
Galaxy S4 smartphone,” the source states.

Samsung Galaxy S4 was first officially showcased in New York on March
14, 2013.

The successor to Samsung’s Galaxy S flagship has a 5-inch Full HD
Super AMOLED screen. It incorporates two cameras: 13 megapixel and
front 2-megapixel ones. Through these cameras the users can enjoy
such innovative features as Smart Pause, Smart Scroll, Air View E Air
Gesture, when without touching the screen it is possible to see texts,
look through pages and photo albums, call,etc.

Starting from April 4, prior to official sales (May 4), Samsung Galaxy
S4 can be ordered at Samsung, Mobile Centre, Orange and Fine stores.

EX-RUSSIAN-ARMENIAN MP SUES BUSINESS PARTNERS IN LONDON

Ashot Yegiazaryan, a former ethnic Armenian member of Russia’s State
Duma, has filed a lawsuit against ex-business partners at the London
High Court, Gazeta.ru reported.

His allegations are based on disputes over the reconstruction of
the Moscow Hotel. The plaintiff’s lawyer, Dmitry Baranninkov, has
confirmed the report, refraining from further comments.

Yegiazaryan had earlier stated repeatedly that he had fallen victim
to a corporate dispute with the former colleagues, Suleiman Kerimov
and Arkady Rotenberg. But the London International Court of Cassation
and the Nicosia District Court dismissed the charges over lack of
evidence, refusing to impose a lean on the businessmen’s assets.

The Moscow Hotel is owned by the Russian businessman, Mikhail
Shishkhanov. A controversial asset is said to “have given birth”
to one of the most high-profile conflicts in 2010.

The hotel’s reconstruction began in 2003. The Dekmos Company, a joint
venture owned by the Moscow City Hall (49%) and the closed joint-stock
company Dekorum, was responsible for the project’s implementation.

Dekorum, which was affiliated with the Russian-Armenian MP, had
concluded a deal with Deutsche Bank’s Russian branch for financing the
construction work, agreeing instead to pawn its shares in Dekmos. The
agreement caused the Moscow authorities to become liable for Decorum’s
debts to prevent the Dekmos shares from being transferred to Deutsche
Bank.

Later, OEK Finans, a daughter company belonging to the Moscow
authorities, allocated $87.5 million to Decorum to help it pay off
the controversial debt. In return, the City Hall was expected to get
25.5% of the shares, increasing its assets to 74.5%. But the shares
never reached the City Hall. OEK Finans was not awarded a managerial
right after paying off the loan. Kermov and Rotenbarg thus became
the owners of the shares.

A criminal case was later filed over embezzlement charges.

Yeghiazaryan was accused of establishing illegal control over Dekmos.

Stripped off immunity in November 2010, he later faced federal and
international investigation.

Yeghiazaryan has claimed that he has been a victim of an illicit deal
where the real culprits were Kerimov, Rotenberg, and a former mayor
of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov together with his spouse, Yelena Baturina. The
former parliament member is said to be confident that Kerimov and
Rotenberg had illegally come into possession of the shares.

Yeghiazaryan now estimates the damage at $2 billion.

LES EXPORTATIONS DE POISSON ONT AUGMENTE DE 200 TONNES

Les exportations de poisson en provenance d’Armenie en 2012 ont
augmente de 200 tonnes a plus de 1400 tonnes a annonce Artur Atoyan,
directeur executif de l’Association armenienne des pisciculteurs.

” Les exportations de poisson sont en augmentation sur un an. En
2009, les agriculteurs armeniens ont exporte près de 800 tonnes et
l’annee dernière les exportations ont atteint plus de 1400 tonnes ”
a declare Atoyan.

Selon lui, l’Armenie exporte des poissons (truite et esturgeon)
vers la Russie seulement, et le prix moyen pour 1 kg de truite est
de 200 a 230 roubles (près de 3000 drams). Il n’a pas precise le coût
d’un esturgeon.

Un total de 8000 tonnes de poissons a ete produit en Armenie en 2012,
selon le directeur par interim.

Armenian American Community to Join with Legislators in Support of
Truthful and Just Resolution of Armenian Genocide

WASHINGTON-Members of Congress will join with Armenian Americans, the
governments of Armenia and Artsakh, and friends of the Armenian Cause
in reaffirming American support for a truthful and just resolution of
the Armenian Genocide, at the annual Armenian Genocide Commemoration
on Capitol Hill, which will be held this year on Wednesday, April 24
in the Hart Senate Office Building.

The annual remembrance, which will feature remarks by Members of
Congress, is being hosted by the Congressional Armenian Caucus, with
the participation of the Armenian Embassy, the Office of the Nagorno
Karabakh Republic, and Armenian American organizations. The Master
of Ceremonies this year will be community leader, Sarig Armenian,
Esq., a prominent lawyer and a powerful voice on Armenian American
advocacy priorities. The program is scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 pm
on April 24th, and will be held in Room 902 of the Hart Building.

An ANCA action alert provides supporters with a quick and easy way
to invite their legislators to participate in this remembrance. The
ANCA WebMail notes that: “This solemn remembrance will commemorate the
Ottoman Empire’s systematic World War I-era campaign of intentional
destruction and forced death-marches that killed or exiled millions of

Biblical-era homelands of their ancient Christian populations. We
encourage you to attend this program, to offer remarks, and to submit
a statement for the Congressional Record.” This standard letter goes
on to emphasize that: The Turkish government, to this day, through
diplomatic threats and arm-twisting – continues to reap the fruits of
its crime, even as it enforces a gag-rule on American commemoration
of this atrocity. Today, less than one hundred of the thousands of
pre-Genocide Christian churches in Turkey remain standing, and even
the majority of those have been stolen by an ever more intolerant and
anti-American Turkish government, as part of its campaign to erase
even the legacy of once-thriving Christian civilizations.”

Au moins 40 000 personnes seraient mortes depuis le debut des
affrontements armes entre le PKK et l’armee turque en 1984. Le conflit
a egalement donne lieu a de nombreuses atteintes aux droits humains,
tant dans le sud-est a dominance kurde que dans le reste du pays. Le
PKK a demande, entre autres revendications, l’autonomie des Kurdes.

Info Collectif VAN – – La soiree speciale
“Genocide armenien : un passe qui ne passe pas”, organisee le vendredi
5 avril 2013 a 20h par le Collectif VAN sous l’egide de la Ville
d’Issy-les-Moulineaux, est annoncee sur plusieurs sites, dont celui
de notre municipalite. Tout d’abord, adressons un grand merci a tous
les services communaux qui se sont mis en mouvement a l’initiative du
Depute-Maire Andre Santini, pour apporter leur aide au Collectif VAN.

Notons aussi – car c’est loin d’etre anodin – que le site Turquie
Europeenne, qui s’est positionne pendant des annees (concernant le
sujet armenien) sur une ligne proche des thèses negationnistes de
l’Etat turc, a abondement repercute notre annonce. Saluons donc la
nouvelle orientation des responsables de ce site qui ont ouvert les
yeux sur la veritable nature de la politique turque. Souhaitons que
cette parole liberee interpelle la jeunesse franco-turque trop souvent
enfermee dans le deni, le rejet des minorites et le nationalisme.

Enfin, signalons que l’annonce de l’evenement du 5 avril a Issy est
reprise sur le site de nos partenaires de la Licra que nous remercions
ici tout comme les intervenants de cette soiree exceptionnelle :

MUTALIBOV’S REVELATIONS, OR HONESTY WITH INTEREST

Recently, an interview of former First Secretary of the Central
Committee of the Communist Party and ex-President of Azerbaijan Ayaz
Mutalibov to the Azerbaijani service of the Radio Liberty has appeared
in the media space. And what are the motives of the patriarch of the
Azerbaijani policy for such a long interview after more than twenty
years of silence? When familiarizing with Mutalibov’s revelations, one
can see at once his desire to justify himself before the Azerbaijani
society, which, to say the least, was ambivalent towards him as a
political figure, accusing him of betraying the national interests.

Secondly, his servility before the current President of Azerbaijan
for the “generosity” of the latter, which enabled him, after two
decades of political exile, to return home.

The interview contains generous compliments for Ilham Aliyev who,
in Mutalibov’s opinion, is just the President, whom Azerbaijan needs
today. Answering the question whom he will support at the upcoming
presidential elections in October, Mutalibov was categorical: “I do
not see anyone other than the current power”.

But, let us leave to the conscience of the ex-president his praise
of the acting leader of Azerbaijan who has gained the reputation of
strangler of freedom both at home and abroad and whose regime dealt
shortly with his critics on the eve of the presidential elections,
using tough measures. And what we are most interested in is the part
of Mutalibov’s conversation related to the Karabakh conflict. And from
this point of view, the interview, perhaps, can be called symbolic.

Trying to score political points after returning to Azerbaijan and
to appear before his own people as a national hero, in the noted
interview Mutalibov made a remarkable for its cynical frankness
acknowledgement. He told that in exchange to a positive result
of the referendum in Azerbaijan on maintaining the USSR he had
managed to obtain Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev’s consent to
the implementation of the operation of Ring in Nagorno-Karabakh,
which was aimed at the deportation of the Armenian population. “I
knew that the referendum was not of particular importance, the Soviet
Union was collapsing and would collapse. We had to take advantage of
this. A day later, I showed the documents to Gorbachev, saying that
the Azerbaijani people was mad at him, but it still voted for the
maintenance of the USSR. He was glad”, Mutalibov recalled the 1991
events. And then comes the classic of the Azerbaijani diplomacy based
on the well known principle of “You do for me, and I’ll do for you”.

Or, an ordinary auction took place between two political dealers: “The
document on referendum has its price”, Mutalibov said to Gorbachev.

“He asked what the price was. I answered it was to cleanse Karabakh”.

In other words, the future winner of the Nobel Peace Prize concluded a
dirty political deal with the “father of perestroika and glasnost”,
which can be rightfully called a bloody deal. And, according to
Mutalibov, Karabakh was determined as the price for the deal. The price
turned to be too high for the people of Nagorno Karabakh. In April
1991, the Soviet military units stationed in Azerbaijan, together with
the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry riot police, launched the operation
of Ring, which resulted in the killing and wounding of hundreds of
Armenian citizens, the deportation of the population of 24 Armenian
villages, which were exposed to unprecedented destruction and looting.

We believe the revelations of the ex-president of Azerbaijan are very
important today in the context of the Karabakh conflict settlement,
and above all – for the international mediators.

Without knowing, Mutalibov tore the mask and showed the real face
of Azerbaijan. In his interview to the radio Liberty, once again was
revealed the essence of the Azerbaijani policy on Nagorno-Karabakh –
to cleanse it of the native Armenian population. Over the past two
decades, this policy has not undergone any changes, because hasn’t
changed the very ideology of Pan-Turkism, which was advocated
twenty years ago and is currently advocated by the ruling regime
in Azerbaijan. To achieve their goals, as already noted, the Baku
authorities use any means, including open deceit. Mutalibov does
not even hide that to obtain the consent for the operation Ring,
he simply winded Gorbachev round his little finger, playing on his
great-power ambitions of arbiter of people’s fates. As a result,
thousands of people – both Armenians and Azerbaijanis, became victims
of the two criminal ideologies – communist and pan-Turkic. This should
become a kind of warning to the current international moderators
of the Karabakh conflict, who are at risk of being cheated by the
Azerbaijani authorities, which are accustomed to pull the chestnuts
out of the fire with others’ hands.In 1991 and during the war against
Karabakh, it was done by the units of the Soviet troops, later – by
an entire army of mercenaries, and today, relying on petrodollars,
they are staking on international institutions. Pretending as if it
participates in the peace negotiations, the Azerbaijani leadership
actually tries to use the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship for
achieving its anti-Armenian plans aimed at annexing Artsakh.

Well, once Ayaz Mutalibov, guided by selfish interest, in April
1992, in an interview to the Nezavisimaya Gazeta recognized that
the tragedy of the civil population of Khojalu was on the conscience
of the opposition Popular Front of Azerbaijan, which thus tried to
remove him from power. It is not difficult to guess what prompted
the ex-President of Azerbaijan to a new revelation in March 2013
in an interview to radioLiberty. We can only fix the truth, which
is always concrete: in both cases, he demonstrated to the world the
true face of the Azerbaijani fascism. There is no need to be grateful
to him for his honesty after more than twenty years. This “honesty”
has its interest and lacks the acknowledgement of guilt. Let’s take
it as a fact. And let’s advise the mediators not to create illusions
in their peacemaking activity.

NUMBER OF CRIMES INCREASED

According to the statistical service of RA, in January-February months
of 2013, the rate of crime has gone up: 2.483 crimes were registered
which is for 406 more the rate of 2012 (2077).

556 cases of crimes against individual were registered in the first
two months this year, among which 15 assassination, in contract to
11 for the previous year. The rate of sexual crimes also rose. 15
cases this year compared to 11 for the previous.

365 crimes against public security, public older and population health
were registered, and the previous year the rate was 391. Among them
30 cases of hooliganism were registered, in contract with 55 for the
previous year.

The rate of the corruption crimes remained stable: in both years 69
cases were registered.

The number of non-severe crimes was 1089, of middle severity – 896,
and what is about the grave crimes there number was 471.

HENRIKH MKHITARYAN DENIES NEWS ON SIGNING PRELIMINARY AGREEMENT WITH “LIVERPOOL”

YEREVAN, APRIL 1, ARMENPRESS. The midfielder of the Armenian National
Football Team and Ukraine’s FC Shakhtar Donetsk Henrikh Mkhitaryan
denies news on signing preliminary agreement with English “Liverpool”.

The Football Federation of Armenia informed “Armenpress” about this.

There was information in an Armenian news agency that the midfielder
of the Armenian National Football Team Henrikh Mkhitaryan signed a
preliminary agreement with English “Liverpool”. In accordance with the
source “Liverpool” will not pay to the Ukrainian club, but will convey
transfer rights for Stiven Gerard and Martin Å krtel. Notwithstanding
the news agency noted that it’s an April Fools’ joke, but in order
to avoid misunderstandings the Football Federation of Armenia got
in touch with Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The footballer noted that the
information does not correspond the reality.

ARMENIAN SAMBO CHAMPIONSHIP KICKS OFF IN ARTSAKH

The strongest Armenian Sambo athletes are today heading to Stepanakert
to participate in 2013 Armenian Sambo Championship among men.

Sambo Federation of Armenia often holds such events outside the
Armenian capital to promote this kind of sports.

The weighting ceremony of athletes, consultation of coaches and drawing
of lots will be held today. The competition starts tomorrow, April 2.
