Stephanie Tency would love to visit Armenia some day – Interview with
Miss Universe Nederland 2013

APRIL 20, 23:18

Several months ago media reported about a girl with Armenian roots who
was crowned Miss Universe Nederland 2013 and will represent the
Netherlands at Miss Universe. Stephanie Tency is proud to have many
nationalities, including Armenian roots. In an interview with NEWS.am
STYLE, she told about her modeling career, participation in beauty
pageant and future plans.

How did you decide to participate in the Miss Universe Nederland ?
Have you ever thought that you would become a beauty queen?

Actually I never thought that I will become a beauty queen. When I was
little I was `one of the guys’ and didn’t care about girls stuff.
Later when I was 16 years somebody told me I have the look of Doutzen
Kroes and that I was perfect for modeling and miss competitions.

The rumors say contestants of beauty pagans usually do not like each
other as there is a great competition. Did it happen during Miss
Universe Nederland pageant?

No we were a perfect team, but of course it’s still a competition and
everybody wants to win. I also met my best friend at the Miss
competition, she is Miss Utrecht.

What are your future plans? Do you want to appear on the cover of
Vogue or you want to become Miss Universe?

Of course I want to become Miss Universe. In the magazines of Holland
I’ve already been on the cover for three times. It’s nice to be a
model and see yourself at a cover or a billboard. As Miss Universe you
do the same, but besides that you also do something for the society
like volunteering. For example I raised 32.170 for Energy4All. I am
ambassador for this foundation (these are children with a metabolic
disease).

I read that you are running your own business. Do you think women can
be as successful in business as men? Most women in Armenia think
having a family and children is more important than having a good
career. Do you agree?

Yes of course, we live in a world where women also have the power.
It’s also better for the men, so we can share the costs. I think both
things are important. If you are not successful/have a good job, you
are not able to take care of your children. And I think it’s important
both of the parents need to take care of their children.

You said you are proud to have many nationalities. Tell about your
roots. Do you plan to visit Armenia some day?

I would love to visit Armenia some day with my father! I have a
painting at home with the kings of Armenia. My real last name is
Apcar.

Seyran Ohanyan: Hero Or Anti-Hero

Seyran Ohanyan: Hero Or Anti-Hero

Serzh Sargsyan `decided’ to reappoint Seyran Ohanyan as minister of
defense during the latter’s official visit to Lithuania. This could be
a symbolic coincidence. Lithuania is a NATO and EU member state acting
as a links between Armenia and the West. This is an unwritten function
carried out by Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, as well as Saakashvili’s
Georgia.

It is symbolic in terms of the challenges to the Armed Forces of
Armenia. The Armenian army needs modernization of not only military
equipment but also its values which is just as important as arms.

In this sense, the Armenian army needs to replace the Soviet Russian
system of values by a system the core of which is the soldier, an
individual, who would not only defend the citizens but also his own
security would be a national priority.

In this sense, NATO could be a good partner of the Armenian army. Its
members are countries which have the biggest achievements along with
numerous shortcomings. In this sense, it is symbolic that Seyran
Ohanyan takes on his second term during negotiations with NATO member
Lithuania.

At the same time, Ohanyan’s `second term’ coincides with tragic
symbolism. Yesterday another conscript was shot dead in the army. This
news underlines the necessity of an immediate solution of issues
otherwise the Armenian army will gloriously fail its regional mission
at the same time closing de facto the page of the Armenian statehood.

Most probably, Seyran Ohanyan realizes that statements like the number
of non-combat victims in the army is reduced are not helpful because
while statistics is decreasing, challenges are growing, so do claims
to the army leadership.

At the same time, the situation in the army is complicated, there are
different interests and stakeholders in the top leadership of the army
and the interests of most of them do not match with the interests of
the state. Is Seyran Ohanyan able to solve this issue? This is only
one aspect of the question. First, it is necessary to find out whether
Serzh Sargsyan has or will put forth such a political priority.

We can see Serzh Sargsyan’s recent actions aimed at building a state
based on army and police. In other words, he is trying to legitimize
the force grounds of the power removing the oligarchs with their armed
and criminalized groups.

Serzh Sargsyan marked this start of his second term with a scandalous
dismissal in the police. Chief of Police of Yerevan was removed due to
his `coalescence with business’. Actually, Serzh Sargsyan tried to
highlight that oligarchy will not be accepted in the field of law
enforcement which will be used against the oligarchic segment of the
government.

Hardly anyone will deny that there is coalescence of business and
government in the army as well. Without solving this issue the
breakthrough will be impossible. Without it the Armenian army will
lack one of the most important weapons.

The Commander-in-Chief must focus on this issue over the next five
years even if the aim is to strengthen his own foothold. Nevertheless
modernization of the army is urgent.

It is evident that the army leadership is composed of half-literate
people who are only able to count the money in their pocket and to
carry out their function as field veterans can’t be adequate to the
aforementioned issues. They need to retire sure if the abuses they
committed can be forgiven, which is quite doubtful. They are not
generals, they are merchants who identify their shoulder straps with
their bank accounts. Business without general’s shoulder straps would
mean a punishment to them.

During the past five years Serzh Sargsyan and Seyran Ohanyan did not
provide any solution that could be convincing for the society in
systemic terms. Even the simple issue of an attentive attitude towards
the parents and relatives of non-combat victims was not solved, no
matter how much they take your time and patience. After all, someone
seized and keeps seizing the lives of their children in the army.

Seyran Ohanyan will of course be remembered as a war hero but he can
also remain in history also as a hero of peace time if he achieves a
breakthrough in the army during his second time as defense minister.
The war has given many heroes to Armenia, while peace, unfortunately,
has given only anti-heroes so far.

Government should consider alternative economic programs – economist

Armenian government should consider alternative economic programs – economist

April 20, 2013 | 12:11

YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia should consider alternative
economic programs. AlternativeResearchCenter Director, economist Tatul
Manaseryan stated this during a press conference on Saturday.

In Manaseryan’s words, such programs can be of great benefit, and they
should not be rejected just because their designers are others.

To the question as to whether the authorities solely accept
liberal-oriented programs, the economist remarked that `isms’ have
remained in the past after the global economic crisis in 2008.

`[We] should be more pragmatic. The program should be evaluated in
accordance with the suitability to local conditions, [and] the
rationality of the proposals,’ Tatul Manaseryan stated.

La Gran Novela Del Genocidio Armenio

LA GRAN NOVELA DEL GENOCIDIO ARMENIO

La Nacion, Argentina
12 / 03 / 2013

esclavitud, deportacion, persecucion y cualquier otro acto inhumano

previamente confeccionada. Ese número pronto ascendio a ocho
centenares.

y Arabia Saudita. Los hacían marchar semidesnudos, descalzos,
hambrientos, infectados, heridos, sedientos y aterrorizados. Iban

abatir.

Baku: Armenian Lobby Concerned Over Us Call For Greater Turkish Role

ARMENIAN LOBBY CONCERNED OVER US CALL FOR GREATER TURKISH ROLE IN KARABAKH SETTLEMENT

AzerNews, Azerbaijan
April 19 2013

By Sara Rajabova

The Armenian lobby has again shown its lack of interest in
moving forward the stalled settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by criticizing a recent US call for involving
another country in a settlement of the long-standing dispute.

Kerry stated in the House of Representatives on Thursday that
Turkey would be a constructive player in the settlement of the
Nagorno-Karabakh and the Cyprus issues. “Turkey plays a constructive
role in resolving the two disputes,” he added.

The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) criticized Secretary
of State John Kerry over calling for Turkey’s greater role in the
settlement of the conflict.

ANCA claimed Kerry was “adding fuel to the fire” and thus openly
demonstrated its unwillingness to reach progress in the conflict
resolution.

Stressing Turkey’s increasing role in solving the regional conflicts,
Kerry said Turkey is holding talks with the U.S. on two unresolved
conflicts – Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and resolution of the Cyprus
problem.

Moreover, after his appointment as US Secretary of State, Kerry
expressed his dissatisfaction with the lingering status quo in the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Kerry pledged that the U.S. would continue to be closely involved in
the conflict resolution process during his tenure. He said that as
before, the U.S. would remain committed to finding a peaceful and
sustainable settlement of the dispute through the mediation of the
OSCE Minsk Group.

The U.S., along with Russia and France, co-chairs the Minsk
Group, which has long been working to broker a solution of the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Peace talks have been largely fruitless
so far.

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict emerged in 1988 when Armenia made
territorial claims against the neighboring country. Since a lengthy
war between the two South Caucasus countries that displaced over
a million Azerbaijanis and ended with the signing of a precarious
cease-fire in 1994, Armenian armed forces have occupied over 20 percent
of Azerbaijan’s internationally recognized territory, including the
Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The peace negotiations are underway on the basis of a peace outline
proposed by the Minsk Group co-chairs and dubbed the Madrid Principles,
also known as Basic Principles. The document envisions a return of
the territories surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijani control;
determining the final legal status of Nagorno-Karabakh; a corridor
linking Armenia to the region; and the right of all internally
displaced persons to return home.

Zaruhi Postanjyan. They Once Again Confirmed Their Failure

ZARUHI POSTANJYAN. THEY ONCE AGAIN CONFIRMED THEIR FAILURE

Fri, 04/19/2013 – 18:15

“Taking into account the fact that the reappointment of a person
is carried out by false state authorities, one should absolutely
expect the continuation of falsification. They once again confirmed
their failure”, expressed her opinion the member of the ‘Heritage’
party and the press secretary of the parliamentary fraction Zaruhi
Postanjyan with regard to ‘Pastinfo’ agency reporter’s question on
Tigran Sargsyan’s reappointment as the RA Prime Minister.

“This failure means that these people are those who serve the
interests of foreign policy within the existing false statehood,
who have nothing to do neither with Armenia nor in general with the
interests of the Armenian nation”, highlighted the opposition MP.

As for the results of the government activities carried out under the
Prime Minister, then in Z. Postanjyan’s opinion the poverty rate in
Armenia has reached 36 %, thousands of children are hungry, officially
registered black economy makes 39 %, minimum salary is AMD 35 thousand.
