Soccer: Armenia’S Most Prolific Midfielder

ARMENIA’S MOST PROLIFIC MIDFIELDER

Bundesliga – official website
July 10 2013

Munich – Borussia Dortmund wanted as similar a replacement as possible
for Bavaria-bound Mario Gotze, and in Henrikh Mkhitaryan, they appear
to have got it.

Armenia has rarely been known as a hotbed of footballing talent,
but Dortmund’s new signing Mkhitaryan stands head and shoulders above
the rest of his compatriots.

Admirable strike rate

Voted Armenia’s footballer of the year in 2009, 2011 and 2012, the
2013 gong also looks like it will be a foregone conclusion for a man
who netted 12 goals in the first nine games of the last Ukrainian
season as Shakhtar Donetsk emulated Bayern Munich by knocking down
numerous records on their way to the title.

Such a goalscoring ratio would be admirable for any striker, only
Mkhitaryan is a midfielder by trade. He nevertheless set a new
Ukrainian league record, scoring 25 goals last term from a similar
position to Gotze, attracting the interest of many top clubs throughout
Europe.

Football in the blood

Dortmund had already seen his talents first hand when they eliminated
Mkhitaryan’s Donetsk from the UEFA Champions League in the first
knockout stage, bringing an end to his ever-present stint in Europe
in 2012/13.

More European football will come, though, for a player who was
predestined for a career as a professional footballer. His father
Hamlet shone at FC Ararat Yerevan in the 1980s before uprooting his
family to join French club Valence. He died tragically of a brain
tumour at the age of 33, when Henrikh was just seven, and the family
returned to Armenia, where Henrikh joined Pyunik Yerevan.

No language barrier

>From there, he moved to Metalurg Donetsk before earning a move across
the city after just one season, in which he scored 12 goals. A move
to Germany’s top-flight, not only represents a new step in his career,
but also a fifth new language having already mastered French, Russian,
English and Portuguese alongside his mothertongue Armenian.

Football and linguistics are common demoninators in his family
too with his mother head of the national teams’ department of the
Armenian Football Federation and his sister, Monica, working for UEFA,
interpreting for president Michel Platini ahead of EURO 2012.

However, Mkhitaryan’s competitive debut is not eagerly-awaited due to
his lingusitic abilites, but the style and ease with which he plays
his football. Perfectly suited to play a leading role in Dortmund’s
youthful frontline under Jurgen Klopp, the only way is up for Armenia’s
most prominent professional.

NOT A TRACE OF ARMENIAN MONUMENTS LEFT IN NAKHICHEVAN – ICOMOS CHIEF

July 11, 2013 – 18:00 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – No trace of Armenian monuments has been left in
Nakhichevan, ICOMOS director said, slamming Azerbaijan for having
turned the churches into mosques during the Karabakh war.

“We can’t cooperate with Azeri experts, since the country withdrew
its ICOMOS membership in 2003. Turkey, however, continues demolishing
Armenian monuments despite joining the convention. Still, the ICOMOS
membership enables Armenian experts to familiarize themselves with
the plans of reconstruction of the churches despite the absence of
diplomatic ties,” Garik Gyurjyan said.

According to Hague Convention, Yerevan has a right to sue Turkey and
Azerbaijan for demolition of Armenian monuments.

for over fifty years. Through his membership on the Board of Trustees,
Finance, and Construction Committees, he facilitated the construction
of Holy Cross Cathedral in 1981. His desire to have young parishioners
gather for various activities inspired him to build the Tumanjan
Youth Center.”

George Tumanjan’s philanthropic efforts are numerous. Earlier this
year he surprised everyone by generously donating the entire cost
of the Cathedral’s renovation. Several years ago he contributed
the funds for the renovation of the youth center, which bears his
name. His generosity extends beyond the church to family, friends,
employees, and various organizations. He is known in the Armenian

honored by the Boy Scouts of America and the YMCA.

and benevolence, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I has awarded George

11:25, 11 July, 2013

The small-to-medium business is of a certain importance for the
steadfast economic growth of a country, as it gives innovational
impulses to the economy. Armenpress News Agency highly appreciates
the significant role the small-to-medium business plays; each week
Armenpress introduces business stories regarding various branches
of economy. This time the project is dedicated to the story of a
pedagogue, the founder-director of the innovative youth center in
Sevan Anush Badalyan, who advises the newcomers not to be afraid of
implementing new ideas.

YEREVAN, JULY 11, ARMENPRESS: The 40-year-old Anush Badalyan founded a
center on the area of her former house in Sevan, which is an innovation
for the resort town. The financing was provided by her brother living
in Russia Husik Badalyan. “When we began constructing the building,
we had not yet known what to found there.

But as the time passed, we understood that in Sevan there is not a
place, a center, where children can come and spend their time there”,
– remembers Anush Badalyan.

The opening of the center took place in September 2012. There is a
primary school, a cafeteria and a children playing hall at the center.

Alcohol and smoking are prohibited at the cafeteria. The center is
for children under the age of 14 and a sports gym and a beauty salon
were equipped for the adults.

Anush Badalyan educates the 4-6-year-old pupils of the center in
accordance with the methods of the Mkhitar Sebastatsi Educational
Complex. The center is attended by 20-25 children. The education is
paid but affordable. The Sevan people, as stated by Anush, began
understanding the advantages of the paid quality education. The
children are provided with food, stationary at the center.

The founder-director of the center Anush Badalyan, having 11 employees,
notes that it is very easy to start a business in our country, but it
is very difficult to develop and stabilize it. “The taxes and duties
are many and complicated”, – said Badalyan. The pedagogue advises
the newcomers not to be afraid of implementing new ideas.

On April 5 2013 Anush Badalyan was rewarded with the “Best woman
benefactor” award in the framework of the Armenia’s Prime Minister
Awards “Best Businesswoman 2013”.

FRENCH MP: INT’L COMMUNITY SHOULD RECOGNIZE ARTSAKH INDEPENDENCE

July 11, 2013 – 13:02 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – The resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict
depends to a large extent on the OSCE Minsk Group, French MP Valery
Boyer said.

First of all, according to her, the blockade of Artsakh should be
stopped and the ties between Yerevan and Stepanakert strengthened.

“Then, the international community should be convinced of the necessity
to recognize independence of Artsakh and draw it out of political
and diplomatic deadlock,” Ms. Boyer said.

“Europeans know nothing about Karabakh but they are aware of Kosovo,
for example. Lobbying is needed to promote Artsakh’s interests at
the international arena,” she said, according to AZAD OR.

Armee Armenienne – Un Autre Decès Hors Combat

arrestation n’avait eu lieu lundi soir.
