Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan has invited the Turkish president
to visit Armenia on April 24 of next year to commemorate the 100th
anniversary of the “Armenian genocide.”

“I officially invite the future president of Turkey to visit Armenia
on April 24, 2015, to face the facts of the Armenian genocide,”
Sarksyan said in a statement released on Tuesday. He said Yerevan had
also sent invitations to other national leaders. He urged Turkey to
accept what Armenia calls “genocide” so as not to be an accomplice
in the Ottoman Empire’s crime.

The Armenian president also mentioned Prime Minister Recep Tayyip
Erdogan’s condolences to the descendants of Anatolian Armenians who
died in 1915. Sarksyan said Ankara is taking new steps that are
unprecedented in form, but which still unfortunately reflect its
century-old policy of denial.

In a historic first for the Turkish Republic, Erdogan extended Turkey’s
condolences to the grandchildren of Armenians who lost their lives
in 1915, a surprising statement that came the day before April 24,
when Armenians commemorate the events they describe as genocide
under Ottoman rule. The statement was widely welcomed by the West
and Armenians living in Turkey, but Yerevan is unsatisfied with
the statement.

Armenian will sign Eurasian Union accession agreement until July 1,
but only if it agrees to the condition of Eurasian Union founding
member Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbaev. The condition is as
follows, to join Eurasian Union with the borders recognized by the UNO,
it means, without the NKR.

Kazakhstan President announced it today during Eurasian Supreme
Economic Council session in Astana.

By the way, Nazarbaev also said, that they, the presidents of founding
countries, don’t want to make their Azerbaijani partner nervous.

Azerbaijan, by the way, has no connection with Eurasian Union and
has never hinted that wants to join the union.

It is interesting that Nazarbaev presented an argument to Armenian
President, “you joined Trade International Organization in the same
way, there is a precedent.”

Besides, he added that the presidents of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan
got the letter of Azerbaijani President, where it is stressed, that
Armenia joined Trade International Organization on the condition that
agreement provisions will operate only within the borders recognized
by the UNO.

“It will be still discussed,”- said Nazarbaev.

BUSINESSMAN ARMAN YEREMYAN QUITS REPUBLICAN PARTY

15:53 | May 28,2014 | Politics

Yerevan-based entrepreneur Arman Yeremyan and his mother Gayane
Martirosyan are going to leave the ranks of the Republican party of
Armenia (HHK). They have already submitted applications.

“We do not want to side with a party whose members are Vachagan
Manukyan and Artur Gevorgyan whose faulty principles made us
insolvent. As a party, HHK has put aside its ideology and is engaged
in plundering its people,” Arman Yeremyan told A1+.

In February, a Yerevan court rejected the suit filed by businessman
Arman Yeremyan and his mother Gayane Martirosyan against Republican
MP Arthur Gevorgyan. Yeremyan sued Gevorgyan, the former head of
Davtashen administrative district, for embezzling his money.

BAKU: Azerbaijani President: "There Won’t Be The Second Armenian Sta

AZERBAIJANI PRESIDENT: “THERE WON’T BE THE SECOND ARMENIAN STATE”

Wed 28 May 2014 07:42 GMT | 8:42 Local Time

“If Armenia doesn’t want the second phase of war to start, then it
should withdraw from the occupied lands”.

The main issue of our foreign policy is the Armenian-Azerbaijani
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Unfortunately, there has been no progress
in this regard despite the OSCE Minsk group’s activity for 20 years.

The reason is that the Armenian side doesn’t want it,” said Azerbaijani
President Ilham Aliyev at the official reception on the occasion of
the national holiday of Azerbaijan – the Republic Day held at the
Buta Palace, APA reports.

The Head of State noted that Armenia wants to maintain the status quo:
“Though, the presidents of the Minsk Group co-chairing countries
have repeatedly said that the status quo is unacceptable, Armenia
ignores it. Thus, the issue remains unresolved. I think that we have
already laid all the necessary diplomatic and legal grounds for the
resolution of the conflict. The conflict can be resolved only within
the norms and principles of the international law. The international
law supports and defends our position. Territorial integrity of
countries, including the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is not a
subject to controversy. Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity has never
been and will not be a subject to negotiation. The conflict should be
resolved basing on four resolutions of the UN Security Council. There
is no other option. We would not allow the second so-called Armenian
state to be established in our territories. The first Armenian state
was established in our territories – in the ancient Azerbaijani lands,
Yerevan, Goycha, Zangazur. There won’t be the second Armenian state,
no legal status will be given to the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh. There
are legal and diplomatic grounds for the resolution of this problem.

Are these grounds enough to solve the problem? No! If they were
enough, the issue would have been resolved. What else can we do for
the resolution of issue? We know it very well. The economy should
be stronger. We must further isolate Armenia as well. However, it is
not completely isolated and its doors with other countries are open.

However, we have isolated Armenia from all regional projects and
consequently mass migration is observed from Armenia. Their statistic
information shows that 80 000-90 000 people leave the country forever
each year and this process will last. As long as there is a criminal
and corrupt dictatorship in the Armenian leadership, the situation
in Armenia will worsen. Therefore, if Armenian people want to live
in peace with their neighbors, first and foremost, it should give up
criminal, bloodthirsty and illegal regime”.

The President said that Armenia should withdraw from the occupied
territories in order to take a breath. “Otherwise, the fate of this
country will be very dark. We will never accept the current situation.

We will allocate funds for strengthening our military capabilities as
much as we need and further purchase the most modern techniques. We
are frequently hearing about confidence-building measures from the
co-chairing countries. The most suitable confidence-building measure
is withdrawal of the Armenian occupying forces from the Azerbaijani
territories. There is no other confidence-building measure. As long as
the lands are under occupation, the war is considered unfinished. I
repeatedly said that the war is going on. The first phase of the war
ended. If Armenia doesn’t want the second phase to start, then it
should make correct conclusions and withdraw from the occupied lands
by itself. Only then it can be on the map as an independent Armenian
state,” he said.

David Babayan: If Aliyev Speaks About Artsakh, "The Train Is Off"

DAVID BABAYAN: IF ALIYEV SPEAKS ABOUT ARTSAKH, “THE TRAIN IS OFF”

19:12 28.05.2014

Hasmik Martirosyan
Public Radio of Armenia

Speaking at the Buta Palace in Baku on the occasion of the Republic
Day, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev declared: “We will not allow
the second Armenian state to be established on our territories.” The
meaning of the statement is unclear to NKR President’s Spokesman
David Babayan.

“There are two republics -the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of
Artsakh. Perhaps, the Azerbaijani President thinks another Armenian
state should be established on the territory of today’s Republic
of Azerbaijan. I don’t understand the logic. If he speaks about
Artsakh, “the train is off,’ and with this statement Ilham Aliyev
only discredits himself,” David Babayan told Public Radio of Armenia.

This night the Azerbaijani side undertook a new act of sabotage,
which claimed the life of one Armenian and two Azeri soldiers. David
Babayan views any subversive act by Azerbaijan as an attempt to divert
the attention of the domestic audience from social problems and notes
that the attacks destabilize the situation without resulting in the
change of positions from the military point of view.

“These steps do not change anything from military perspective. They
only destabilize the situation, causing harm to the negotiation
process. Such attacks are usually organized on festive days, before the
visits of the Co-Chairs. They pursue the aim of gaining dividends and
diverting the attention of the people from domestic problems,” he said.

OSCE Chairman-in-Office Didier Burkhalter will visit the region in
early June. According to David Babayan, it’s a traditional visit,
and the expectations are practical. “Such contacts are useful
for maintaining peace and stability, but there are no particular
expectations,” he said.
